    1.  There were no real surprises. I was disappointed with how the Boom deal played out but what had to be done was done. Hopefully we move on from here and get things going!

    2. tcookie is a great member! McLaren offers a boost to our offense and is hopefully going to help us sneak into the post-season.

    3. STHS sucks? Lol. The player chemistry might not all be there but things seem to be starting to click for us now.

    4. Nothing really! I wish Dawson was playing better but there's not much to be done for that while he grows. Looking forward to the next three seasons in Toronto!

    5. So far so good! I don't want to acknowledge it much further in case I jinx anything.

    6. Honestly, probably not. I look forward to new faces in the Toronto LR but I only really focus on my player and team's performance.

Thank you Yukon for adopting me for a week. I know almost nothing about the VHLM these days but I need TPE!

    1. This sounds like a great idea! It'll get your locker room more competitive and excited for the sims every day and it will be exciting to see who ends up with the most by the end of the season.

    2. Thad has that star power and can turn anything into a legendary moment. The only initial thought that I have is some Shania Twain tune.

    3. Phoenix Dawson and the rest of the Legion are not having a great season so far. My player is at 18 points which is decent for 35 games I suppose but I was expecting much more.

    4. The VHLE is exciting to see all of the new teams that will come to the league. It's nice to see Victor as part of the team bringing this to life. I would love to have a player end up on Vasteras if they do come back!

    5. Typically once a week on Fridays but this was a "f it" week and I ordered in twice over the weekend. Can I blame the pandemic?

    6. Agree. Even in Winter I enjoy all of those things. It's hard to not enjoy a iced capp even if it's freezing! I understand people thinking this is crazy though...

    Dawson Back to Work
Legion sophomore looking for turn-around season after many hours of practice through the off-season

TORONTO, ON — With the S78 regular season right around the corner, Phoenix Dawson and the Toronto Legion are preparing to make another stand to show the VHL what they are made of.

With the announcement from the VHL that there will be a temporary two-tier salary cap for S78, the Legion were able to bring in some star power with Erik Killinger joining the defense for the season and Jon Webber filling out the roster for the forwards. The only remaining question is to find out what this will mean for the younger forwards on Toronto hoping to make an impact during the season.

In the case of Phoenix Dawson, the young center has been hard at work since arriving in Toronto. With the effort going on in practice and in the gym, the forward is now above 500 practice hours which is quite the improvement but it still leaves him on the outs with a stronger group in front of him. It’s expected that Dawson’s ice time will be limited to a lower line like in the situation with Webber as management monitors to see if they can improve over the season.

The challenge ahead for Dawson will be to find results on the ice that shows he deserves further opportunities to see more ice time. Following a rookie campaign that didn’t see him get consideration for rookie of the year let alone even scoring in the top 10 for rookies, Dawson is going to need some better results. Following the work through the off-season, it seems Dawson’s game has strongly improved on defense which should help when it comes to making some highlight passes to his teammates.

“I’ve been honest when I say I’m not happy with how last season went,” said Dawson. “I want to show the league that I can be one of the best players and I’m putting in all the work I can to make that a reality. I think this season is going to be very important for making that point to the league so we’ll see how everything goes.”

Going into the last season of his rookie contract, if Dawson is not able to show what he has to offer through his development and success in his game he very well may be looking for his third VHL team for his third season in the league. With players again and possible changes to come, it’s to be expected that Dawson could slot in to the future plans for the team but with the current young talent it is important for the young player to make an impact as soon as possible.

“That’s something that I will worry about in the off-season,” said Dawson in regards to his contract. “Right now I am focused on doing whatever I can to become a better player and show Toronto that I am ready for the opportunity. Hopefully by the end of the season we won’t even have to talk about these questions.”

Keep an eye on Dawson and the Legion when the regular season gets started later this week.

    Hey all,

Its crazy to think that when I first made a post here I was a month into quitting smoking cold turkey (no vapes, smokes, nicotine or anything). I still struggle from time to time depending on what’s going on.. maybe a bad day at work, feeling the effects of booze or out and about adventuring outside.. much less than at the start but I’ve realized it’s gonna be a lifetime  thing I’ll be defeating.

My latest big time craving was last week.. was fishing with my brother in some mountain streams and his vape was sitting there. I used to hit it from time to time and it popped in my head “Ah, I’ve done so well. I want a hit. It’s only one” and for a minute or so I kind of fought with myself trying to convince my brain “it’s only just one” but then also convincing myself “it always starts as one.. then next time it’s just one more, I have this no worries.. and then one more again, again, again”... it was a pretty tough battle but I didn’t do it because I know it had to be zero and not “just one, just now”.

I am happy. I have negative health effects still but much, much less.. (I’ve been working on my diet next but that’s almost harder than smoking lmao).. I sleep much better and don’t get the heart palpitations feeling even remotely close to as what I did.. good stuff..

As ever, if you’re trying to quit, don’t be afraid to reach out to me or anyone I’m sure.. talk in here if you want.. it’s a pain in the ass to quit and a shadow that will follow you always but you can 100% do it. Stats below and super cool to see the $ I’ve saved and what I’ve put it to!

    SEATTLE MOVING ON

Devastation in Toronto following the result of Game 6

TORONTO, ON — The Continental Cup will not be coming to Toronto this season. Following a six-game series, the Seattle Bears were able to eliminate the Legion after coming back from a 2-0 series deficit.

In the first game of the series, the two teams ended up playing more than two games worth of hockey as the game was not decided until the fourth overtime period of the game. With players absolutely exhausted at this point, SS Hornet was able to finish the game and get a early lead for the Legion.

Another notable note for the game was the fantastic play of the goalies through these six periods. Seattle’s Rara Rasputin stopped 86 of the 91 Toronto shots and Toronto’s Jaxx Hextall was able to stop 67 of 71 shots for the win.

Another huge note for Toronto through this series was the team playing to win it all for Hextall. Hextall being a huge member of the Legion who has possibly played for the last time in a Legion uniform, everyone wanted to see him go out with a Continental Cup victory.

Heading into game 2, the teams again could not solve the game through regulations. Toronto held a 3-1 lead at one point but Seattle was able to force the game into overtime. This time it wouldn’t quite go the distance as Game 1 as SS Hornet again was the overtime hero for Toronto and was able to find the back of the net following a penalty to General Zod.

At this point it was looking like Toronto could run away with the series, but Game 3 showed that wouldn’t quite be the case. For the third game in a row these two teams found themselves heading to overtime for the third game in a row. This time around Toronto found themselves trailing 3-1 but were able to tie it up late in the third on a powerplay goal from Scotty Kaberle with two minutes left in the game. Seattle was able  to get control in overtime and after peppering shots on Hextall, Hex Rose was able to beat him and get Seattle back in the series.

It took until game 4 in this series for a game to be decided in regulation and it was a wild game from the first period. After 20 minutes the game was tied 3-3 and after the 2nd period it was 4-4. After getting their one powerplay in the third period, a Seattle trade acquisition in Frostbeard was able to get the Bears the lead and tie the series up.

Game 5 saw the teams go back to overtime yet again and this time the star of the show was Frank Funk Jr who was flipped to Seattle at the trade deadline. In back-to-back games the names from some Seattle deals saw the Bears take a lead in the series and get the Legion in a corner.

Game 6 was the end of this series despite a strong effort from the Legion to get back into it. The star of the game this time around was Rasputin who was able to turn away all of Toronto’s 33 shots in the game and send the Legion out of the playoffs.

Despite some changes looming, Toronto still has a bright future with quite a bit of young talent through the roster. After heating up through the second half in the season, expect Toronto to be a point of interest in the next few seasons.

Well, when the Legion took the early 2-0 series lead with those many many overtimes I figured that the team would be able to hold on for the series win. The Bears came back and won six in a row to officially eliminate Toronto and I'm left feeling a little disappointed. The group in Toronto is fantastic and I'm sure we will come around to really being contenders over the next few seasons but to have our team go down against the team that traded me at the deadline stings a little bit for sure.

Going into the off-season, I'm going to make sure that I earn as much as possible for the next season. Dawson's rookie season was definitely rough despite coming in with the extra TPE from an extra season in the minors but I'm hoping that next season with the extra games on the Legion I'll be able to build up some chemistry with some of the players like Welch or Kaberle. Dawson did almost go point per game in the series with five assists, showing that the passing ability is still improving as well. Hopefully we'll fly through the rest of the post-season and the off-season and see how Dawson does next season for the Legion.

    DAWSON ON THE MOVE
After commenting on Trade Deadline to media, Seattle moved Phoenix Dawson to Toronto in a one-for-one deal

Phoenix Dawson meets with Toronto media following his first practice with the team earlier this week

TORONTO, ON — At the start of the season Phoenix Dawson had dreams of being Seattle’s number one center in a few seasons. Now, he finds himself looking for a new home in Ontario. The young center was traded from the Seattle Bears at the trade deadline in exchange for Frank Funk Jr.

Both players coming from the S76 Entry Draft, this transaction is looked at as both teams looking to give their young players a fresh start on different teams. Seattle and Toronto continue to battle it out for the top of the North American conference with Dawson and Frank finding themselves in similar situations on their new teams.

“I think Toronto gives me the opportunity to be one of the best players in the game,” said Dawson when meeting the Legion media members for the first time. “I really enjoyed my conversation with the management team here when I found out about the trade and I think Toronto will be the perfect home for me going forward.”

Dawson seemed to fall behind fellow Bear prospects Hex Rose and Phil the Rock Johnson after spending an additional season in the VHLM and there were doubts that he was ever going to be able to reach the point of other young players in the league. There were optional practices that Dawson was absent from and it seemed maybe the pressure of being on his preferred team was not working out.

Seattle stated that the deal was nothing more than giving an opportunity for Dawson to grow as a player while hoping that Funk Jr. would also become a better player through the transaction. So far since arriving in Toronto, it seems that Dawson has a point to prove and is back on the ice at any available time.

Dawson has now played 12 games with the Legion and has been a little slow out of the gate with his performance, but it’s clear that the center does have a future with the team. On the ice Dawson found chemistry out of the gate with the team’s leading scorer Oh Sens and fellow S76 draft pick Kristof Welch.

“The team has been extremely welcoming,” said Dawson. “I didn’t expect to be traded this early in my career but I’m going to make sure that Toronto appreciates making the move. This team is already one of the best in the league and I’m hoping that with a bit more time I will be able to make an impact as well.”

In his first week with the Legion, Dawson is approaching 30 practice hours and if he can hold this pace will climb back into the argument of being a top 10 player in the S76 group. The Legion are going to be hoping that he gets scoring as soon as possible as the team goes into the post-season looking for a Continental Cup.

“I will always appreciate my time in Seattle,” Dawson concluded. “I made some great friends there but it is time to get to work with Toronto.”

    1. It's nice to see the success of the team since joining. I think we'll hold on to first despite the couple losses we've had recently.
    2. I hope everyone is happy with me so far! Toronto LR is great and I'm excited for the future of the team.
    3. Nathan Perry to recreate the chemistry that we had in Miami.
    4. A Continental Cup!
    5. I don't think there is enough time for 100 points this season but it is an awfully impressive season regardless.
    6. Toronto 1st is all that matters.
  20. Cheers
Toast reacted to ROOKIE745 in Hextall getting ready to say goodbye
The regular season is nearing it's end, and for Hextall their is no wondering what next season will bring for him. This is it, the final end of season for the veteran netminder. Hexy has been taking extra time after every game to sigh pucks, jerseys, hockey sticks and anything else you can think of, Jaxx Hextall is the face of the franchise and we won't see him in any more regular season games. Fans are cherishing these final games for him, lots of waving between Jaxx and the crowd and he says he's going to remember every moment. "We have the best fans of any VHL team, and I want to appreciate them for cheering me every step of the way, I've grown a lot and learned a lot and getting to do it front of these fans has been a true pleasure."

Hexy is on track to finish this season with some of his best numbers, 32 wins is a career high, .921 save percentage and 163 goals against. Hexy probably has the best defense he's ever had in front of him, something he hasn't had for most of his career. 2067 shots against is on track to be the lowest or near the lowest he's ever faced. The one shutout is probably something Hextall isn't happy about but he has had one every season. Finally Hextall hit a milestone, reaching 450 games played and the last major milestone he'll reach in his career and with Toronto. Let's wish Hextall luck in the playoffs.

Toast reacted to JardyB10 in Cleganebowl never happens
I hyped potential Cleganebowls our whole career, I was pretty jazzed how the stars aligned to actually make that happen. I can’t say that I would have left earlier without it (you underestimate exactly how long I was running on fumes!), but I will admit it was one of the more invigorating playoffs I’ve had since the OG Jardy
