Top NHL Players (Point Predictions)

Lemieux was also in such a weird spot too - the team owed him several years of contracts and couldn't pay it, he offered to convert it into equity as a percentage of the team, intending at the time to simply be a minority owner and help the process along toward finding a new guy. Burkle and his group come in and persuade Lemieux into a bigger share in exchange for his group providing the funds. It's doubtful that the team will ever really be in that type of spot again, but I know Lemieux developed a bond of sorts with Crosby, so maybe he buys him into the management group at some point. Even if Crosby is untouchable, and maybe Malkin - Phil and Letang aren't though. -

I think we will, I just don't think we should. The league is a business and the players are commodities. Commodities with homes and lives, to be sure, so I can see the appeal of running it out, but honestly with a few younger pieces already in place (the three guys I mentioned above) you ship those four, you extend the window 6-7 seasons in exchange for maybe 2-3 short term seasons of adjustment. -

Yeah more hockey GMs need to Belichick it, get rid of guys a year or two before they drop, rather than 3-4 years after. -

I might be crazy for this, and it might just be that I feel we have the luxury of being able to do it with the recent success, but if I'm the Pens, I actually consider seeing what the market has for Crosby/Malkin/Phil/Letang and eventually try to work toward a Guentzel, Sprong, and Murray future. Definitely not this year in particular (we are, after all, only a season removed from two cups) but either next year or the year after, if we'd like to get a decent return on the big 4 rather than ride them into the ground like the Wings did with Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Lidstrom. -
Yeah the distance between Stopko and everyone else I think is pretty much unrivaled ever. I'm not the historian though, @Victor would probably know if there's been similar
-
There will have to be a change in the standings, the 2 and 3 teams can't play each other in the finals
-
True, but I also sucked last year. Last year I would even call myself depth. I've taken a big step up, not enough to win most improved despite my prediction (damn you @Beketov) but definitely happier with the individual player this season than last.
-
Ottawa guys, listen to this man. This is what I told you all about skating in the discord
-
Calgary depth here, thanks for the bulletin board material
-
Hence why I wanted to make sure he wasn't.

Please tell me Jericho isn't Penny

Ottawa has 3 full forward lines and will decline to offer, but trust me if the circumstances were any different we'd gladly have you on board. Good luck wherever you sign
-
I can go 1.5 million for 3rd pair on Ottawa. We're one ofthe contenders (Halifax, Ottawa and Vegas) and our roster is quite full of active guys already, but I could use a defensive partner for Robert Renner if you'd like to join us
-
Same with you as with Jacobaa. If we don't get enough VHLM, and it looks like we won't, you two will be in. I'll likely split you up so there's a VHLer on each team.
-
Given the lack of numbers turning up so far, I could open it up to recently-VHLM people. Most of the signups have been guys on my team since I posted the link in the discord - that and a lot of the top guys who browse the forums a bit more. Haven't got as many of the mid-actives from other teams as I'd like. Put down what you'd want to participate in, and if we have the space (which it's looking like we will) then I'll add you

You know my stance on this, we've talked about it

So recently, the Ottawa Lynx roster has changed a bit, due to a combination of a trade and a midseason acquisition. The trade saw Chat and JP Desjardin exit the roster along with some picks, in exchange for adding Ryan Kastelic. Kastelic fits into an already stacked defensive group, with 3 guys either capped or within a week (Kastelic himself along with Lando Baxter and Joseph McWolf), and 2 more guys developing strongly as well (Gregor Rasputinov and Robert Renner). Numbers-wise, this keeps Ottawa at 5, but now 4 of the 5 are genuinely first-pair guys (the 3 caps and Rasputinov) and Renner could be a 2nd pair guy on most teams. We'll still be looking for another guy to pair with Renner out of the midseason guys. The midseason acquisition was a left winger named Randoms, brought to the league through a personal affiliation with Lynx goalie Kallis Kriketers. Randoms is a strong physical presence, and will bring that side of things to the third line to give his new linemates, Jerome Mitchell and Rzerk, the opportunity to focus on their offensive game. Rzerk is a passing minded forward and Mitchell is a scorer, so with the checking of Randoms, this is now a fully balanced line. This means there isn't really any more room for forwards on Ottawa, with the exception of a 4th line, where it's unlikely people will want to sign up to play.
-
Checking and strength. This man is a winger Darius Kasparaitis.
-
Ottawa has 9 active forwards and would only be able to offer you 4th line - for your sake you'll be better off with Oslo or one of the teams yet to post. If you'd like to come to Ottawa anyway, message me, but for now I'll let the others fight it out.
-
you put discipline in the random
-
Yeah my team is scoring at the pace of the upper teams, the thing that was holding us back a little was we were conceding, so I wanted a d, rather than a forward. You did well for both guys here
-
That's because my offer was only for Nguyen. Of course I offered something similar for Kastelic as I offered for Nguyen, because I wasn't actually trying for Crimson. Read our PM again, I never said that offer was for both
-
Fair - anyway so the ruling for now is that this season we're allowing it, and as it stands it'll revert to the one season at the end of this season. I'm trying to push them to go back to two seasons (it used to be that way for most of the life of the league, it went to one season so it didn't cripple a team before they would get a new GM, but we have no shortage of people interested in VHLM GMing at the moment, and objectively 2 seasons of picks makes for a more interesting trade market)
