    Hello @Daniel Janser!

I guess you were reading my mind or something while I was going through the forum looking for info and trying to learn a bit - as well as writing "my" "Junior Review".

I'm definitely interested in playing for you guys and if you have time to read the review you'll see I was expecting either you guys or San Diego to say something. I'll get back to you on this! And if I join the Hounds I'll join the Discord of course!

Great! Kovalchuk obviously makes sense, as does Torq. I don't think Wilson is our long-term solution in net, but we could use a decent backup and we have a good player for the pick we used. Also, any team that passed on a pick before we got Thode should be ashamed of their scouting.

First time I've ever scored 50 goals! I'm somewhat disappointed that I couldn't get myself in the running for any awards after MVP in S80, but there were parts of the season where I was unstoppable and I look forward to it if Seattle can help me produce consistently.

Ew. I think you know how much I just LOVE the meta!

I hope number inflation isn't as present this season as it was last season. Regardless, I'd like to break 100 points (and if I don't break 90 I'll be disappointed). I'm expecting hits to drop off somewhat because Seattle is a more physical team in general, so my player won't get favored specifically in that regard--which is why I didn't pick myself in fantasy--but it would be cool to at least get on a HoF ballot and this last season might be make-or-break for that.

I'm told that if I tell the police about it I'm going to end up at the bottom of Puget Sound.

Beaviss got a reaction from Spartan in [Resolved] BOG Work Flow Chart
I think what I've gathered from all the comments are as follows:

People want more structure but have differing opinions on how that should proceed.

I believe the best suggestion so far was that the OP of the post is the one that sees it too the end (which is why I'm typing this) If they follow the flow chart I posted in the OP they can use that but I think it should be up to the Original Poster of the thread to trigger votes and get a resolution for the thread. If that means a poll or getting background infrastructure added.

Which is why ill be marking this thread as pending competition as it seems that its a super simple fix with no infrastructure needed as it is a community solution.

I believe if we have someone in a special BOG role to review BOG posts and make sure they reach the finish line or fall short and sort threads and change the title to different categories would do wonders for time tables and getting results. Id like to hear input on this last line though.

Beaviss reacted to Daniel Janser in a tale of two Brothers // Daniel wins it al-most...
    Swiss Central Gazzette

While Marcel is only due to return to Sweden later this week, his brother is extremely busy competing with (and against) some of the best players in the world.

Daniel set new standards for himself in the S81 WJC with team Europe, where they reached the final against the USA and only lost in overtime. The European squad gave the Yankees a run for their money and did not go down without at fight. The young Swiss, from some of his team mates in Calgary already dubbed 'the Swiss God', has played more of a role than last time and was able to contribute more to the team's success accordingly.

Let us compare the stats (round robin and playoffs in aggregate) from the S80 WJC (in brackets) to the S81 issue. Red indicates a decline, green an improvement, black means equal numbers:
    10gp (10gp), 1g (0g), 7a (0a), 8pts (0pts), +0 (+1), 31sht (11sht), 8PIM (4PIM), 52 hits (3 hits), 2sb (1sb), 24:06 min TOI (7:01 min)

This time around, Daniel formed the first line together with Latvian pedigree Miglaskems and Swedish Superstar Karjalainen. In the S80 WJC he was doing patrol duty on the third line with Czech Winger Brozik and Spanish talent of the decade (if not century) Meridius.

He is also playing in the revived Pro-Am Tournament, where his team, the Abbotsford Fir, rank second after the regular season. In this tournament 'the Swiss Army Knife' played defender, as there was a need to fill this position and Dan jumped into the breach. The British Columbia team ended the regular season at second rank, behind a strong Sault St. Marie Seamen. Unfortunately, the records of the regular season were destroyed in a fire, caused by some stupid with a flare gun. We were ensured that Daniel was around a point per game and that to no small part of his, Abbotsford was as succesful as they were.

In the ensuing playoffs, the Rotkreuz native had one goal and six assists in seven games and served 16 minutes in the sin bin. Abbotsford and Brasilia went for the full length, with the bitter end for the Canadians.

In the interim, Dan has returned to Calgary and is participating in the Wranglers' training camp. He was seen to train with Johnson and Sakukoivu to get used to his role in the team as a physical centerman for the second line. According to scouts present in the Saddledome, Janser has improved his skills on the draw significantly and does not take prisoners when hitting, even against taller and more fleshed out opponents. Having said that, Calgary's future number one center is obviously more ripped then he used to be in the VHLM or the VHLE. This young man certainly is dedicated to not be a pushover in the big show.

Daniel has bought a house near the stadium, at Bellevue Avenue, within walking distance of the Elbow River.

Beaviss reacted to jakkysosa in The End of the Road - Sosa
As of today, January 25th 2022, I have been declared a free agent in the Victory Hockey League. I will be entering my eighth and final year as Jakob Sosa in the VHL. I was originally tempted to retire following Season 81 as my muse has gone down and that would have been my final season overall. However, as Season 81 came I noticed how much I’ve been checking on score, how much I’ve been enjoying this again and how I wanted to stay. With my performance last season being one of the best I’ve had in my career, I figured. Why stop now? The dead end isn’t here yet, why stop the car? Let’s keep going until you can’t go anymore. While discussion of where I will land is still up in the air, I wish to briefly go over my career in the VHL as Jakob Sosa over the past year and multiple months I’ve been here.

When I first arrived to the VHL, the experience of getting all these VHLM teams approaching you was truly an amazing experience. I did research on which teams needed centers, which teams are doing well and deeply analyzing their welcome messages and offers. I ended up signing with the Mexico City Kings as their deal got me the most excited RIGHT as I was about to sign with another team. I stayed with Mexico City my entire VHLM experience and went to the playoffs with them twice. The management were very nice to me and I truly cherish those moments. I was drafted by Vancouver and was ready to graduate once I went over the 250 TPE threshold. Being in Vancouver was a learning experience for me, even with staff changes and more, I learned a lot from the players that were there and truly enjoyed my time. Yet there was a point where my excitement went down I admit, things didn’t feel right and I requested a trade. Thus the “wow” reactions began, being traded for a first round pick to Malmo, I was even mentioned in a podcast!

Being in Malmo was fantastic, I got to see my old boss from Mexico City there and met a whole new locker room of new players and players I’ve crossed paths with before. Wearing the neon green and navy blue was one of the best things to happen for my career. I got to achieve every fans childhood dream and got to raise the cup. I’ve been to multiple playoffs and won multiple games but as time progresses, bodies regress. Now that I’m here, I’m now in my final year of competition and I want to stay. What I’ll do when it comes to anything after this season? No clue. But I want that grand exit, I want to add more stats to the record book and I want to go all 8 years in the VHL.

I admit, I wasn’t perfect. I could’ve been more active in locker rooms, I could’ve done more media spots and gotten more TPE for my teams and myself. I could have won one championship in the VHL Pro-Am… but anyways, I feel like I did my job as a hockey player. I’ve always been focused since day one of joining the VHL about being a valuable piece to a team. Whether it’s for an asset of being traded or on the score card, I wanted fo bring something. I always checked how the team did in a game and my stats in that game, bit selfish but I wanted to make sure I’m doing something on the ice if I ever step on it. That’s exactly what I did. That’s what I want to bring. This article to whoever reads is to go over my career in the VHL/M and to mention that I’m a free agent, willing to bring something of value for the team and for my final year.

Jakob Sosa was a hockey player, a VHLM assistant general manager, a Pro-Am GM and a friend… and he’s not going anywhere. Not yet.

Their are not many people as creative and as talented as mister Thad at coming up with media spot ideas or just sim league vibe stuff in general. All of your Medias are very entertaining and this one doesn't disappoint in the least. The addition of quotes graphic and everything fits perfectly with the vibe of the article and all the sentence structure is there. im looking forward to more since I cannot even critique this other than saying I want more. I want to mention a couple things so teams are aware ahead of time:

    - I'm not "fully" coming back at this time. I would love to get back to being as involved in the league as I once was, but I just finished moving, am planning a wedding and have some other stuff going on so I still have very little time. I have no idea week-to-week whether I'll be able to max earn or do nothing but claim welfare.

    - I'm not building a meta player, this guy will be pass-first with no intention of changing it and the main thing I will look at when deciding where to play is if there's an opportunity to play alongside a couple of good scorers, though team quality helps too.

It comes to surprise no one that there would be another Florida man article circulating around the internet. Historically, those articles have been headlined as such:

Florida man chews off another man’s face
Florida man trapped in unlocked closet for two days
Florida man busted feeding iguanas to alligator in jail zoo
Florida man tries to evade arrest by cartwheeling away from cops
Florida man arrested for calling 911 after kitten denied entry into strip club

These are, of course, rather serious incidents that have been reported. The comical nature of the article titles do not diminish the seriousness of each incident. It was, however, only a matter of time before a serious “Florida man” incident occurred in the world of the VHL. You may be thinking that this article would take place in Miami with the Marauders, but it seems that this particular Florida man made his way across the ocean to Sweden. And they wanted him there…

While this title is NOT the title for the current article you are reading, this article is about that most unfortunate child named Florida Man @zepheter. Presumably growing up in the marsh lands of Florida, wrestling with alligators and siphoning gasoline out of local lawn mowers, Florida Man made a name for himself (see what we did there…) in the world of professional hockey. Drafted 42nd Overall in the Victory Hockey League Europe by the Stockholm Vikings, Florida Man made his way around the world to Stockholm, Sweden. For two amazing seasons he played his heart out for the Vikings. This effort, fueled by a strict diet of Mountain Dew and Funyuns, led him to be a favorite name in Stockholm among the Vikings fanbase. Failing to ever disappoint his fans, Florida Man went on to be the Points, Goals, Shots, and Plus/Minus leader for the S81 playoffs, which brought the venerated Renaissance Cup to Stockholm. Unfortunately, this is what leads us to this article’s title…

It seems that Florida Man ran through a variety of emotions after the Viking’s Renaissance Cup victory. Celebrating in the city, Florida Man’s inner…well, Florida man came out. He drank excessively, punched a bunch of walls and stained glass, and found himself standing in the National Sports Museum at Djurgardsbrunnsvagen 26. In the next room was the cup that he had just lifted but a few days before. His phone rang and it was @rory, the General Manager of the Los Angeles Stars calling him to not only congratulate him, but to say the very sentence that would push Florida Man over the edge, “I hope you’re ready to play in Los Angeles.”

Florida Man felt immense dread come over him as he wanted to play in Stockholm for the rest of his life. He figured it was the Florida of Sweden. In Florida man fashion he stripped down, completely naked, and pulled his favorite pair of crocs out of his draw string bag. Putting them into sport mode, he kicked down the main door to the National Sports Museum which brought him right before the podium that held the Renaissance Cup. In front of an army of media personnel, Florida Man lifted the cup over his head, screamed out “Florida forever!” and gyrated himself out the door. At the time of this article being published, Florida Man and the Renaissance Cup are still missing.

The Vikings General Manager, @thadthrasher, responded immediately to the media personnel saying, “Well, he’s not my problem anymore. Good luck rory.”

Beaviss reacted to Scurvy in Scurvy's first Draft!
This week many players in the VHLM were on the edge of their seats trying to see which teams in the VHLE and VHL would pick them up.  Brian Payne was no different.  From his hometown of Bothell, Washington, he watched with anticipation of which team would pick him up.  Having filled out numerous draft cards with several team in both leagues he spent hours at his computer studying several team’s defense in both leagues trying to see who would want a bruising defensive defenseman.

In Payne’s first season he suffered from what people called TPE idiocy and placed his points in several categories first prior to reading the dummies guide to builds so he felt some early season struggles.   He busted his ass and earned TPE at a decent rate and by the end of the season he reached 200 and helped the San Diego Marlins get to the semi-finals of the playoffs with more than a point per game average.

    VHLE DRAFT
In the VHLE draft he drafted 20th overall to the Bratislava Watchman.  The Watchman loaded up their already outstanding defense with Payne and standout star, Bo Johansson.  While they each play a different game, their styles should blend well this year.  With additions on forward with Girts Galvins (great name btw) I would look for the Watchman to some special things in the coming year or so.

Payne was immediately greeted with a warm welcome to the Watch despite the GM and AGM being incredibly sleep deprived.

    VHL DRAFT
As if Payne’s life couldn’t get more perfect, he sat and watched the VHL draft on Twitch.  He watched as he saw stud players, he followed throughout S81 in the VHLM get drafted.  As the rounds ticked by, he figured he would go in the late rounds so imagine his surprise when he was selected in the 3 round (26th overall) by Warsaw Predators.

Being on the Predators he is joined by fellow San Diego Marlin defenseman Maxwell Matthius, who helped mentor Payne on his first season in the minors.  This also reunites him with former San Diego GM JB123, who is most responsible for Payne’s development in earning TPE early on.

With high caliber draft picks, Wumbo, Girts Galvins, and Matthius the Preds looks to have a Cup contending team in a short time.

Having been my first player in the VHL he would like to send a special “Thank You” to VHL admin and staff that make this league possible. I am amazed at the amount of time and effort it must require making all three leagues, tournaments, drafts, fantasy, trivia, reviewing TPE projects, and all the other stuff I am not smart enough to know.  Everyone here has been super helpful I navigate this sometimes-confusing world. I am truly pumped I found this league it is even worth hearing my wife call me a nerd for watching a draft on Twitch during dinner to see if my player would be picked.  

    Sincerely,

    Thank you

    Brian “Scurvy”

It has come and gone, the draft that is. Max Torq is reunited with a team with a winning pedigree. It should be a great career once Max grows into the role that is going to help the team. Meanwhile, Max is in the VHLE with the Vikings. It is all new to me about how that league will play out but I know it has good leaders and if I play the season there, it will be another notch of experience that will only help the team and my player. Win win.

Max is my third player. I first had Guy LeGrande, a defenseman, who had a great cup winning career. The road was bumpy. Seems so long ago but the bad choices that were made has stuck with me and it seems the league never forgets drama. I have grown as a member or maybe adapted is a better term. Being a few generations older than just about everyone in the league does raise the question, why am I even here. I think my main strength comes from the desire to do my best. I have changed my way of looking at the league. I realize that there are many different cultures here and I need to respect that. I am actually a very social person, just not social media. It's just the way things are and I am fine with the limited interactions I have with the league.

Well, after recreating another defenseman, my expectations for him are to provide a defensive minded checking player that can score if needed. I don't expect leader board numbers from Max or I would have made another center. My destiny is going to be more of a unsung hero. Good all around player without too much of a downside. So, after have my first player do well as a non checking defenseman and my second player, John Merrick, had an outstanding career ( but no cups ), I decided to make something that should be on the side of being nasty but effective. We will just have to see if the build I have in mind works as intended.

I had all intentions of calling it quits after winning another cup with Ottawa. I figured my time here was done and time to go on my way. If not for a couple of what I consider really close friends that I have made here, I wouldn't be writing this article. I had to rethink what the league means to me. I come here for my player, my team and most import, for myself. I need to fill in the gaps of everyday life. Without the league in my routine, I would just be hurting myself. I choose to stay, go through the draft and recommit to being the best member I can be.
