When I read the point task I immediately thought, I gotta get my cat back in the line up: Thomas O’Malley can not be excluded from a dream team. But when I went by my other players I actually found out I could field a complete line up, sure it will definitely not be the most successful team in the world, but it's fun to form a team of players on my own.

 
At Center: Thomas O’Malley :  my most successful sim league player ever perhaps (maybe close to my SBA MVP Miles Muad’Dib). O’Malley was my attempt to for once get a player to go first overall. With a draft class with Kendrick who also went full out at that time, this proved to be quite a challenge. Cologne actually had the 1st and 2nd pick at that time and thanks to Kendrick he allowed me to be picked first, to this day I’m still thankful of this. 
 
At Right Wing: Peter Quill : my first welfare player. While Quill originally was a center I feel like I’ll just put him at RW here as he’s my only other natural forward (despite moving to defence for his last seasons). Quill is actually one of my favourite characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also a disappointment of a player for me. 
 
At Left Wing: Pietro Maximoff : my speedster, I wanted to make a fast skating high scoring player and I did. Maximoff had some great success in his younger years before I fell back in to semi activity with this player. He had a great career, made the hall of fame, but at that time I just lost the fire that pushed both my previous players over the 1200 tp. 

 
At Defence:  Adam Warlock, king of the VHLM, nemesis of Beaviss.  Even though Warlock was a big part of the VHLM cup win of Beaviss as a manager, he turned out to also be a great mistake to draft. The update scale was just moved up and from a superstar Warlock went into mediocrity. I just didn’t want to play anymore due to the change at that time. I told Beaviss before the draft, but he still selected me. But Warlock never did him any good. End of the career Warlock did win some cups with Toronto and somehow stole tfongs points all the time despite being the worse player. So sorry to everyone for this player.
 
At defence: Condor Adrienne.  My try to return to glory. He has had a decent career so far and picked up several awards already, I wanted to finally get a hall of fame player on defense after failing hard with Adam Warlock and I hope with Adrienne I’m on track.  In a really strong defensive class there are quite some opponents though, and being part of a low scoring era in the vhl didn’t do my early seasons much good. Thanks to expansion the league scoring went up and I finally could work on my offensive attributes again. But I do feel he is a fast starter, slow finisher as showing again this season. He blasted off in the start, but as the season passes, he seems to slow down massively and losing his chances for awards.
 
At goal:  Remy LeBeau.  My first player here and part of a time where ADV, Jericho and Devise still did the pajodcast. This still is one of my favourite vhl memories:  after 8 seasons of being in the league I was listening to one of their episodes when they finally realized that Remy LeBeau is actually the name of Gambit of the X-Men. That it took them so long to realize / find out, I still find a fun story. He was also my first Hall of Fame player, despite his stats not being that good, he just had a stature around the league and his nickname given by others ‘LeGod’ certainly helped his case.

After again having a blast off at the beginning of the season, Condor Adrienne has landed back on earth again. After just a single point in his last two games, he is now equal in points again with Lincoln Tate, one of his biggest rivals (in a friendly way) of the last seasons.

With 40 games played, both of them have scored 66 points, while Adrienne scores more goals, Tate is the assist master with Riga. But where Tate is trending upwards, Adrienne trends downwards again and seems to already lose his chance for the scoring title. 
 
It is not only Adrienne who is slowing down, but with him the Malmo Nighthawks who are on the verge of losing grip of their first position in the European Conference as Moscow who are on a four game winning streak have two points less with one game in hand. 
 
Hopefully both Malmo and Adrienne will be able to pick themselves up again for the last half of the season, the team made a nice jump forward this year and they hope this could be their season. But it is still a long way ahead for them...

Kind of funny to see the LW/RW disparity - the whole reason I created McAllister at LW was because all of the prominent wingers at the time were on the right.

Also funny that if you included active players, Adrienne @OrbitingDeath  would literally be first line defenseman already with a season and half left.

1. Which team do you think won the draft?  
I actually do think we have to be a top contender for this. Traded to get 3 roster players out of the first 20 picks of the draft. Sneaking that second into a roster player after trading to get Green basically on the defense. While that is really all that happened given the antics of our last draft pick
 
2. We're into the season a little bit now, what's you biggest takeaway from these early games?
That we have some growing to do as a team but that we also have some strong rookies and a brighter future now than we did last season. Our schedule has been tough to be sure and we've had some good clutch wins against some tough teams especially as we've gotten settled. But we still are an expansion team and that'll still show sometimes. 
 
3. Which player do you think is taking the team scoring title (just on the Stars)?
Kiak is the most likely, but don't count out Ryo Yamazaki either, underrated scorer. 
 
4. Doug posted a shutout against NY. Is he happy about that or sad? 
Probably a bit of both. NY is still a good team despite losing ARG to retirement. But his goalie is having a solid start for us and honestly that probably feels good regardless of the opponent. 
 
5. You get to pick any player in the league and add them to the Stars, who is it and why?
Condor Adrienne. Self-explanatory haha! @OrbitingDeath

Interesting turn of events happening in Malmo judging by this article. This article is extremely well written and it helps build some character within your player. Hopefully, Walker stays in Malmo. 9.5/10

Start of the S74

Vancouver surprises

I don't think anyone here at ECN was expecting to see Vancouver on a 5 game win-streak at the start of the season. We saw an amazing draft from GM Louth who was able to select rising stars Venus Thightrap, Emi Rune and Onde Sandstrom all in the first round. It is clear that Vancouver is going to be a strong contender in the next few seasons and is making a strong case for then to be the team with the best young roster. For us, it will be important to see how well these players will perform when it comes to consistency a the later part of the season. 

Calgary struggling
 
After GM change in Calgary, it seems that they are on the right path in terms of team building and having the best possible scenario with the roster they have. With the return of their captain Sigard Gunnar, Calgary seemed to be ready to compete again. Right now, after 4 games played, it seems that they are struggle to play a strong offensive game. With only 8 goals for, they are currently the worst team in the VHL and surely it is destined to change but how long will it take for their players to adapt to a slightly different environment. One thing I have so say is that even if this season doesn't go as planned, they have a fairly young roster that can still perform great and with their star rookie Luke Thornton, I believe that Calgary has a bright future no matter what. 

Condor Adrienne, Galaxy's Number One 

After his 100 point season in S72, many thought that his ability to sustain this level of play was not going to be there as his first 3 seasons of his career were rather lack-lustre. Right now, it seems that Condor has been able to find his game and be there for his squad. After another Wylde Trophy in S73, he has been able to cement his legacy as a strong two-way defender. However, it will be important for him to prove his worth in S74 and S75 as with those seasons his Hall Of Fame chances will be determined. Currently Adrienne is having 14 points in 5 games played and his defensive numbers are again consistent with what we have seen previously. 

Patrik Tallinder, Riga's Roaring Thunder
 
After increasing his production each season since joining Riga Reign, he is setting himself up for career year as his production on ice has been brilliant. With 6 goals and 5 assists, currently Tallinder is over 2 points per game and has been one of the main reasons why Riga Reign is sitting in the Top spot in European Conference. It is important to note that with he current lineup in Riga, they are still one of the favourites for winning that Continental cup! For Patrik this means that he has an obligation to perform well above what you can expect from him as he already has a Continental cup under his name, he needs the 2nd one to balance it out.

GM Frostbeard steps up to the podium in front of the crowd near their hometown arena in Malmo

"I am in awe considering how amazing of a run Nighthawks had last season. From our trade acquisitions to players that have put their names on the board in their rookie season, all our guys contributed to our success and I am grateful to be the GM of the most amazing VHL Franchise! But now, let's welcome our S74 Captains on to the podium!"

After a team wide vote, our two alternate captains have had standout seasons in VHL and are ready to keep their activity level high, one a Dustin Funk winner, other the Top Rookie of S73  - our S74 Alternate captains are - Chris Hylands and Ray Sheilds! 
Now to the Captain himself, a player who has been here for us since S68 is returning to be our captain again, I am proud to announce that Captain of S74 Malmo Nighthawks will be Condor Adrienne!

Congratulations @Hylands @Zetterberg and @OrbitingDeath!

An accolade like this deserves Blue Steel.
