Check out this web-site too you can choose from a model and then add/subtract parts where you want it the most.  They throw in free upgrades and games all the time as part of the purchase just make sure to claim the stuff along the way.

I can write a 6/6 media spot about random shit like people playing video games, opening a restaurant with contract money, or doing a team charity event while not using commas and stealing a quick image from google images.  I can do all of that in 15 minutes or less.  I can't get a 6/6 on a graphic if you gave me 3 hours and the player cutouts already with a jersey change.

When I first came back media spots were graded much harsher than back in the day but that didn't last long things quickly got back to free 6's.  You can't put graphics on a different level of difficulty as it more than anything else on the VHL is art which is subjective.  I find plenty of people who are told wow best sig they made ever 6/6 to be shit and find other 5/6 sigs really good.

We give out 4 welfare for 1 reply on a thread and we give people 5 TPE who spend a bunch of time making a graphic for the league because they don't live up to certain graphic standards based on how a person feels or interprets a sig on some random day.  IMO if you can read the text, you did the cut out/jersey change is a quality fashion, and you did more than just filter/render/clouds new layer filter render noise then you should get a 6/6 every time.

We want the league to have as many active people as possible, we want the league to continue to grow, and we want burnt out members to comeback or continue to stay around and having "graphic elite" cause people to get +1 more than welfare for spending a good amount of time on a sig point task is VHL Season 1 old mentality that has caused dozens of other sim leagues to fail.

    #175 The Super Draft

The race to the post-season is in full swing with most of the league still in the hunt for a Continental Cup.  That doesn’t mean its too early to talk about the draft though.  The Season 36 Draft ended up being quite amazing for high end talent with decent depth.  The Season 37 Draft is shaping to be not quite as top heavy but even deeper than the draft we had last season.  A ton of former player agents have sprinkled new players back into the league in recent days and weeks.  The crop of first generational talent though is quite remarkable with the recruitment efforts the league has had lately.

We can’t yet put the “Super Draft” label on this class but I wanted to talk about dealing with a better draft and the pressure behind it.  Every draft must be scouted in depth especially if you have a number of picks.  When the draft is weaker you already kind of know what you are getting.  The chance for late round steals become harder and the late first round talent often bust too.  When there is talent at every corner though and everyone seems to be destined for the VHL things are actually much tougher.

When expectations are low there is no pressure.  In a super draft you know any pick could turn into the next Hall of Famer.  There will be a range of six to eight players that look identical going into the draft.  A bunch of them will fizzle out and never make it even out of the minors.  The rest though will go on to become the next generation of VHL superstars.  The pressure on a GM to figure out which of the many rising VHLM stars will be able to take the next step is enormous.  The fate of the franchise can rest with the picks in a great draft and you don’t want to be the only one that misses out.

A GM can live with a bad trade, he can learn from it, and take accept a bleak future if it means winning now.  A GM cannot sleep over the picks he missed in the draft.  Knowing that for the simple act of calling out a name he could have the next Scotty Campbell is enough to drive you crazy.  If you don’t do the research of every nook and cranny to find the truth when a prospect says yes I’ll make it someday you won’t forgive yourself.  The realization a season later when you passed on the Rookie of the Year for a no name minor league scrub is what the “Super Draft” is all about.

Trading in the VHL happens all of the time.  We have trades at the deadline, during the season, and during the off-season.  Most trades do not fundamentally change the course of history though.  A trade might involve a retired player heading into his final season or a depth player who never made it to superstar status.  These trades while important are short lived and don’t usually have a very long term effect around the league.

Occasionally though we get a monster deal that shakes the league all the way to the core.  A monumental swap of multiple core players or a superstar with many seasons left to play.  These heavy hitter moves can cause a ripple effect that changes the destiny of many teams and can take a full generation to feel all of the effects.  We had one of these trades back during the break between Season 33 and Season 34.

    To QUE:
    (S33) C - Wesley Kellinger

    To DAV:
    (S31) C - Steven Stamkos
    S35 QUE 1st (C Frédérik Ernst)
    S36 QUE 1st (D David Januzaj)
    S35 QUE 2nd (C Cam Rivers)
S36 QUE 2nd (RW Tihon Kalstad)
    S35 QUE 3rd (Pass)
    S36 QUE 3rd (D LaMichael Charmander)

We now know the Quebec City Meute would go on to win a Continental Cup in fact they are possibly destined to win multiple cups.  We also know the free agents that joined Quebec were likely tied to this trade.  This is only small morsel to the lasting effect that has come from this trade.  Could Helsinki have beaten Quebec if they didn’t have Kellinger?  Would Skylar Rift or Yuri Grigorenko have signed with different teams?  These are only some of the storylines that were possibly altered.  We are also going to look at some trades the Dynamo made after using the picks acquired from Quebec in this first trade.

    To NY
    S36 QUE 1st (D David Januzaj)
S35 CGY 2nd (RW Carter Deaton)
    S36 DAV 2nd (D Herman Mudgett)
    S37 DAV 2nd (TBD)

    To DAV
    S33 RW – Thomas Landry

Davos GM Victor was given six picks in the Kellinger trade.  He could have attempted to build a great franchise through the draft.  However carefully mapping out multiple trades he has created a franchise able to win now.  The S36 Quebec 1st was the main piece toward bringing in Season 33 forward Thomas Landry a crucial piece toward Quebec’s current success.  While David Januzaj would be a good defensive prospect for a young Dynamo team they are able to win now instead.

    To TOR:
S36 QUE 2nd (RW Tihon Kalstad)

    To DAV:
    (S30) D - Mario Linguini
    S36 TOR 3rd (Pass)

While a seemingly minor a trade the Quebec Season 36 second brought in depth defenseman Mario Linguini.  This season with the Dynamo Linguini is a plus 5 and averages over twenty-nine minutes per game.

    To RIG:
    (S30) G - Rock Star
    (S33) G - Zach Fucale
    S35 QUE 1st (C Frédérik Ernst)
S36 DAV 1st (RW Robert Gow III)
S35 DAV 2nd (LW Vincenzo Valentini)
S36 CGY 2nd (LW Johan Hallstrom)

    To DAV:
    (S33) C - Keiji Toriyama
    (S33) RW - Jarkko Olsen
    (S34) D - Shane Baker

While many pieces were moved here the goalies sent over Rock Star and Zach Fucale were essentially cap additions and not for value purposes.  The main pieces were the Season 35 Quebec 1st which was part of the Kellinger deal and a Davos Season 36 1st.  Shane Baker and Jarkko Olsen combine for 45 points through twenty-two games this season.  Keiji Toriyama was traded from Davos in the following trade

    To DAV:
    (S31) C - Sergey Brovalenko
    S38 SEA 3rd

    To SEA:
    (S31) C - Steven Stamkos
    (S33) C - Keiji Toriyama
    (S33) C - Chris McZehrl
    (S33) G - Vladimir Bodnar
    S36 DAV 3rd
    S36 TOR 3rd

Stamkos who was originally part of the original Kellinger trade and Toriyama who was indirectly involved via the Season 35 Quebec 1st helped bring in Sergey Brovalenko.  Brovalenko is tied for second on the team with 31 points thus far.

Landry, Brovalenko, and Linguini are just a few of the players that have contributed now to the Dynamo from the original Kellinger trade.  Countless other players and picks were dealt in other trades between the Dynamo and other teams.  Those teams then in turn traded picks and players on a secondary level using assets involved with or from the Kellinger trade.  The astronomical combinations of things that have happened, are happening, and will never happen as a result of this trade have changed the VHL forever.

So with the Super Cup now we have a 3 season rotation.  1 Season for the World Cup, 1 for the Super Cup, and then 1 season for the whole don't do either thing.  In the past we have done something that many around the league seem to like (mostly for ego) but it wasn't ever controlled and it was done randomly.  I think the 3rd off-season could be used for doing the Top 25 list that we have done before.  Everyone in the VHL has 24 hours to vote for who they think is the #1 in the league at the time and vote for anyone they think should be added to the list for the following vote.

The only three issues we had with it were
    1) when we do this list its done randomly with no reason other than the fact that someone feels like doing it.
    2) there was never any good set of consistent rules for how long to keep the poll open and etc
    3) there wasn't ever like a quick description of what the vote was actually meant to be

Now I was thinking we could either do it publically starting around the trade deadline of every 3rd season or make it strictly a BOG thing and have them make their list of top 25 ahead of time and starting at the deadline of every 3rd season they release the list backwards from 25 down to 1.

We could even take this further and ignore the player aspect and make it the top 25 most influential people of the VHL and add it to the HOF section and see how the list changes every 3 seasons.  Anyway just thinking of things we could add that wouldn't involve any additional effort by the commishes or simmers and give the league something to do in the quieter off-season.
