FrostBeard reacted to GRZ in Draft talk with Mikko
As we all know, the S66 VHL Draft is slowly but surely creeping up on us, we decided to sit down and chat with Mikko, the young fin will experience his 2nd draft, and at the moment of this interview, he is ranked #5 on the Live Draft Rankings.

Do you have any wishes as to where you would land then? Given that some VHL GM might read this in the future?
Not really, I'd love to play for anyone that sees my potential and decides that I'm the right fit in their roster, other than that I haven't really invested time checking which GM's I'd like or not. So I don't have any specific preferences, hopefully this doesn't come back to bite me in the long run *laughs*.
If you were asked to give your "sleeper" picks for the draft, who would you shout-out?
Wow, that's a fun question.....I've always thought that these 3 players would amount to lots in the league, I don't believe people have found their true potential yet, I got to observe them by playing alongside them in the Reapers.
John Frostbeard (@FrostBeard) - A real positivity magnet as I would best describe him, this guy makes sure that everyone is welcomed with positivity and you really can't go wrong with having a chat with him, active in the LR + the work ethic he has is impressive... Definitely a steal for anyone getting him.

Charlie Paddywagon (@DMaximus) - The madlad in VHLM with 90 Defense(yeah its real check it out), that just shows the determination this guy has towards his position, the guy is always providing everyone with stats from previous games and will be a great fit to any team that is looking for a Top2 future d'man.

Hans Gruber (@TheFlash) - The best german player in the draft and a well deserved title, this dude is determined to do some damage in the big league, btw he went from a Scoring Left Winger to a Playmaking Center just to help out his team, that should show you that this player is for real and is ready to help out his team in any way possible. Great teammate + awesome LR presence.

I'd say that you can't really go wrong with any of these 3 picks, have at it VHL GM's and you can thank me later.

ECN on VHL Portal #4 "Surely overlooked"
Just because S66 VHL draft in coming up doesn't mean that we here at ECN are gonna focus on that as there is plenty of interesting and important things to talk about around VHLM!
So this week we will focus on something different - we will look at already drafted players that are tearing it up in VHLM and see who has the highest potential to be a dominant force in VHL and maybe win a Rookie of the Year award! So let's grab snacks, drinks and get comfy as we will focus on some of the greatest talents in VHLM!

We have to point out that people on this list are not listed by their TPE or by points per se, nor this is a list of Top anything - this is our Chief Editor's list of who he thinks is being influential on teams success in VHLM this season. And now - let's get to it!

    1# Orion Slade ( @BluObieZ ) Drafted in S65 VHL draft, 24th Overall

It would be disrespectful to not mention one of the most offensively capable and influential players on League-leading Minnesota Storm.  As a true playmaker on Minnesota's 1st line, he is proving to be instrumental in allowing the best line in VHLM to produce and be well over point-a-game for each member. His most impressive stat is +/- rating as Orion Slade is +42 this season. It puts him in Top 3 in VHLM this season in that category, only to be surpassed by 2 of his teammates. To add, it is not clear who is the real MVP on Minnesota this season - it could be either Shane Mars@Spade18 or Orion Slade and we have to agree that both of them would deserve that title.

    2# Denver Wolfe ( @Goonie ) Drafted in S65 VHL draft, 9th Overall

One of the best Two-way defenceman we have ever seen to come to play here in VHL/VHLM. It is a bold statement, but we all have to agree that leading a league in points for a defenceman and at the same time being in Top 10 in categories like Shots Blocked, Hits and +/- is a showing of a well-balanced player that should not have any problems of performing on the same level in VHL next season. We can only imagine how dominant next season Vancouver's defense is gonna be with Denver Wolfe. As this season Denver Wolfe is helping Minnesota to dominate VHLM, his future is his own hand and we all hope to see greatness from him in the upcoming seasons in VHL.

    3# Anthony Matthews ( @Anthony Matthews ) Drafted in S65 VHL draft, 11th Overall

One of the most exciting players in VHLM this season that has been overlooked because of the amazing season his teammate, S66 most probable 1# Overall draft-pick Hunter Hearst Helmsley ( @Beaviss )is putting up. This season Anthony Matthews is showing that he can be effective on the offensive and on the defensive end. Having the most blocked shots of any forward this season puts him on an elite list of the most prominent defensive forwards in VHLM and not only that - his high IQ and disciplined play allows him to have one of the lowest Penalty minutes in the league out of all high-scoring forwards. If he will be able to keep himself on the same level and be that dominant Two-way forward, he might be able to man any VHL teams second line center position with no problems at all.

    4# Sven Hitz ( @JayF ) Drafted in S64 VHL draft, 22nd Overall

This one is interesting - his skills are surely different from what you would expect from a dominant player in VHLM. He is leading all VHLM in Hits with 230 in 56 games played. That put's him over 4 hits per game - ECN crew would name him: "Most intimidating player in VHLM". His presence on the ice and ability to actively wear down opponents on ice just allows his teammates like Hunter Hearst Helmsley to be dominant offensively and not worry about getting hit as no one is having the strength to do so. There is a drawback - he hasn't contacted media in a while and many of us have been thinking if he has decided to leave media out of his playing career but even that might stunt his growth and not allow him to become a billboard star.

    5# Basaraba Moose ( @Toasty ) Drafted in S64 VHL draft, 28th Overall

Probably one of the most overlooked players in VHLM this season is Basaraba Moose - with a good balance of hits and blocked shots and high +/- rating he can clearly be considered and talked about in the conversation about the best defencemen in VHLM. His upside is surely his high defensive IQ and ability to handle the puck as well as any of the forwards in the league, I would go on a limb and compare him to someone like Brent Burns in NHL (Less known competitive league in North America). His skills have to be developed and he surely has to become a better skater and probably try to work on his passing, so that his skill set can be used to dominate VHL next season.

Alrighty, folks, we have looked at this week's special edition of ECN on VHL portal where we talked about 5 overlooked players and their effectiveness in VHLM this season. Coming closer to the draft, ECN will publish an official 4 Round Mock draft that will feature upsides and downsides of each team and why it would be wise for them to choose certain players. But that will come in a bit of time - right now, thanks for reading this and we at ECN hope that you are truly enjoying our content. Till next time everybody!

FrostBeard reacted to gorlab in gorlab's top 3 sleeper picks for the S66 draft
    Salutations VHL,

I am here to present the VHL with a sneak peak at 3 of the top sleeper picks of the S66 draft. I would definitely suggest that you @ your GM in this thread to make him aware of this highly controversial information. As a sim league veteran, I have developed a powerful eye for talent, and thanks to the current S66 Draft Theme Week, I am leaking my top 3 sleeper picks for the FIRST TIME EVER.

Do not miss out on this information. The contents of this thread are highly explosive and will help your VHL franchise become the next dynasty. Without further adieu, I give you gorlab's top 3 sleeper picks for the S66 VHL Entry Draft:

    #3 Chico Smeb | Minnesota Storm | LW | 6' 3" | 220 lb.
A dynamic skater and playmaker, Chico Smeb comes in at my #3 sleeper draft pick. Despite being somewhat buried on a star-studded Minnesota Storm lineup, Smeb has both the physicality and hockey IQ needed to become one of the top power forwards in the VHL. At 6'3", 220 lbs. he is a massive specimen, but has the skating ability and edge work of a world champion figure skater. He is both graceful and powerful and my scouting report lists him as an absolute gym freak. If you are looking for a winger who can take over a game on both ends of the ice, Smeb is the pick for you.

    #2 Hiromu Takahashi | Ottawa Lynx | D | 5' 7" | 194 lb.
Despite a slow start and some reported chemistry issues with his former team, the Minnesota Storm, Takahashi still has all the makings of a top 4 d-man who can quarterback the power play. With his recent move from Minnesota to Ottawa, which comes with a sharp increase in playing opportunities, I have no doubt that Takahashi will cement himself as a top prospect in the S66 entry draft. Do not let his small stature fool you, because the 5'7" d-man is a great puck mover and has an INTeresting sense for the game. His vision and decision making is top notch at both ends of the ice. Takahashi is a player who may slip into the later rounds, and will be a steal for any team who drafts him.

    #1 Codrick Past | Minnesota Storm | D | 6' 0" | 190 lb.
Seeing the name 'Codrick Past' on a sleeper list may be a shock to some people, as the dominant defenseman has been torturing forwards all season long in the VHLM and is undoubtedly a first round lock, but I am still including him on this list because the hype for this player is really just that massive. A definite top-pairing player who can log big minutes defensively while contributing on the score sheet, Past has the raw talent to become a franchise player. Some scouts have questioned his work ethic, but in my opinion, he should be selected within the first few picks of the draft. It's possible that the concerns about his reported laziness could cause him to fall into the 5th-10th range, but I am confident he will make a big impact on whichever team that is lucky enough to select him.

Thanks for reading and see you on draft night!

So You Want To Be Drafted By The Reapers?

(Spoiler alert - Just Message Me lol)

The prospect of a theme week it can be very exciting. Especially when we're talking about the upcoming draft. Whether it is in the majors or the minors a draft always insights a feeling of anticipation. for those who are new to our site the draft my cause some anxiety because it is easy to get your heart set on a team that you would like to play for. Whether it's the logo, the city, or just the way the GM of that team has reached out to the player, It isn’t surprising that players get an ideal in their head about what team they want to be on. It can cause some anxiety when you discover that you are being entered the draft and your next season might be up in the air.

For those VHLM players that want to be members of the Philadelphia reapers I suggest reaching out to me as their GM. In fact, for any player looking to play on this specific team I encourage them to reach out to that GM and let them know the that is where you would like to be. I know draft time can have a lot of up's and downs from my personal experience being drafted into the VHL I really do think that communication is the key. Contacting GM's and having open and honest conversations will prevent many issues and make way for an easier upcoming season.

I would like to send my best wishes to all those being drafted in the VHL and the VHLM. I hope you all find that perfect home team for you.

I’ll add my final attempt at recruitment here, Join the Reaper Nation!!

FrostBeard reacted to Enorama in Make The Draft Great Again
I'm going to start off by telling you a little story for those of you who weren't around or weren't paying attention for the last draft (S65). Generally speaking, the draft is run live, with GMs needing to react to other picks being made in real time and there generally being a shitshow around scheduling when to hold it, a bit of chaos when it comes to tracking who's been picked, and some hectic live trades. In S65, for reasons unknown (I would just assume, or hope, scheduling conflicts) the draft was held earlier, I assume over the course of several days, in secret. The thing is, it wasn't actually so secret, because when you see a team trading up in the 2nd round three days before the draft, you have to assume they know who's available at that specific pick.

I get that this made life easier on the GMs, but it was just. so. boring. The craziness that is draft day is supposed to be part of the fun around being a GM, and with drafts being run through the portal now, it should be much easier to track who's been picked. Let these draftees have the same fun that I had on my draft day, where there was all sorts of crazy speculation and rumors before my name ever got called.

Bring back the true live draft.

Hello ladies and gentlemen, after another great week of games and truly captivating performances by many new, upcoming and experienced players, we have to skip that to talk about a great step by VHL to go ahead and expand VHL from 9 teams to 10 and welcome Malmo Nighthawks to the mix. In this small article, we will dive into challenges that Malmo could face and what the returning GM @Advantage  will have to deal with. As always, this article is brought to you by FrostBeard Entertainment.

To start off, we have to all appreciate the amazing job that the leadership of VHL has done to keep this league exciting and open to everybody. The step to make an expansion of VHL should be looked at as the best case scenario for many young players that have been tearing it up in VHLM as now, not only they will have a better chances to make a team's lineup already next season, but this allows talent to spread throughout the league and make it more competitive in the seasons yet to come.

There are really many great prospects that Advantage as a GM will have in his possession after the S66 Draft and that will allow Nighthawks to have steady growth and a chance to shorten "build-time" that would in normal circumstances be at least 3 or 4 season project. As there will be many young players, some older, more experienced guys, might be more willing to take up arms and join a new project to not only become a mentor for young guys but to write history to a newly formed team. There will surely be situations when GM will have to take many hard-hitting but necessary steps to make this team success, and that could involve trading some young talent for more seasoned veterans.

As the talent will be widespread and many teams will gain amazing calibre players on their team, it could make GM's situation tougher as a promotion for Malmo wouldn't be unique, you could now go and say that Malmo is the new future of VHL as every team is like that. We could say that it is a GM's job to find a way how to actively market his team and we would truly hope that Advantage will do the best job he can.

Brainstorm: Could we already see a blockbuster trade by Advantage this Draft as he would go all-out and get the First-overall pick and secure generational talent in Hunter Hearst Helmsley? You make that prediction in the comments section below.

This was your weekly ECN report on interesting and cool stuff happening here in VHL. Hope you enjoyed it and till the next week as then we will look at most valuable players in VHL this season. And as always - believe in yourself! Brought to you by FrostBeard Entertainment.

FrostBeard reacted to Matmenzinger in Czeching In With Mat Tocco
This is the Prague post reporting in from the United States once again. Today we find ourselves back with Minnesota Storm forward Mathew Tocco. Tocco is a prospect that will be available in the upcoming VHL and VHLM draft. Quickly climbing the ranking this year he will certainly be a quality pick for almost any team. We're here today to find out his thoughts on the league, the upcoming draft, and the breaking news of another VHL expansion.

Prague Post: First of all I'd like to congratulate you on your season so far this year. You're putting up pretty good number with very little ice time. So you were traded earlier this season from Philadelphia to Minnesota how has the transition been?

Tocco: Thanks I appreciate that, I hope everyone back home is proud. Well it was a bit rough, I was getting pretty acclimated to everyone there in Philly but you know, I'm glad to be competing for a cup now. On the plus side, things are a little less chaotic here in Minnesota so it feels a bit more like home.

Prague Post: It's good to hear that things are going well for you so far this year, and that the transition to Minnesota is going well. We've been following you closely and have seen very steady growth from you, how do you feel about where you'll be drafted? Any thoughts on who you would like to be drafted by?

Tocco: Yeah as of right now I'm projected to go somewhere in the mid thirties. I'd obviously like to go higher than that, and think I will. I've put a lot of hard work and more hours than I can count into training, and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. As for where I'd like to be drafted, I've probably made it pretty clear that I enjoyed playing in Philly, so if I returned there next year I'd be pretty happy. As for the VHL though, there will be a new team in the NightHawks and I think that's the perfect destination for me. I started my VHLM Career on an expansion team so why not start my VHL career on one as well?

Prague Post: Of course we would love to see you go higher in the draft as well. Actually that segways us into our next question for you. What are your thoughts on the VHL adding an expansion team?

Tocco: Well you know it's interesting, the league was definitely in need of another team, if not more. I thought it would be another North American team personally, not that I'm complaining. They will have a pretty storied GM in Advantage and it would be a honor playing there. Them drafting me would also allow me to be closer to home, so here's hoping.

Prague Post: Well it's good to see you have a positive outlook on everything. We will certainly be following along with the rest of your season and wish you the best. It was an honor talking to you today but unfortunately that's all the time we have for today.

Thank you for choosing the Prague Post, Czechia's number one sports news outlet. We look forward to bringing you more stories to come.

This Just In: The Philadelphia Reapers have just signed 19-year-old left winger Dylan Doyle to finish the season with a $1,500,000 contract. Personally, this signing doesn't necessarily help or hurt them right now, but it does give you a few ideas about where Doyle might go in the upcoming VHLM draft. It's clear that the Reapers are in a full rebuild, as they own 26 picks over the next two years, half of them being in the first two rounds. It's safe to say they'll have plenty of opportunity to build a strong team for the future. I like this signing because it will give the Reapers a glimpse of the potential Doyle has as a play-maker in this league, and it will give him the experience necessary for him to take a huge step as an impact player over the next few seasons.

In an interview, we got Reapers' General Manager BladeMaiden's opinion on the matter:
"After meeting Dylan, I knew I had to make this decision. He's not just one of the guys that is gonna add a little something to your team. He's a hell of a young man, and potentially an even better player. He's got some of the best passing awareness I've seen in a while, and it's only going to get better. I can't wait to see how he fits in with his teammates throughout the rest of this season and hopefully the next few after that. When I spoke to him about joining the team, I wanted to make sure he was comfortable with our current rebuilding state. To my surprise, he had no problem with it. It really says a lot about his character that he is willing to lose and learn to eventually win as a team he helped build."

Let's remember Doyle isn't the only one you should be looking at, as Philly already has young prospects in:
    G - Kolur Bjoernsson(22)
    LW - Nico Sulerzyski(20)
    C - Walter Clements(18)
    D - Dean Clarke(19)
    LW - David Clarkson(19)
    C - Adama Traore(16)
    D - Robert Burns(19)
    LW - Ben Hafkey(19)
    C - Logan Swallow(18)

So, there's a lot to look forward to for Philadelphia, seeing as they'll be adding to that prospect pool in a big way this off-season.

Shortly after signing his fresh new contract, Dylan Doyle was available for an interview over the phone. Here's what he had to say about joining the Reapers:
"Obviously, it's a great honor to be offered a contract in this league. I'll be competing for a spot in the pros, which not many players can say. I'm humbled by the General Manager BladeMaiden's offer, and I will put everything I have out on the ice. My goal is to reach my full potential on and off the ice, and I believe Philly is the best place to do that. From what I've found, a hockey club has more purpose when they involve their community. It doesn't only bring awareness to the sport, but it brings everybody together. That's why hockey is so important to me."
