  1. True. One time I farted while on vhl gen voice chat and a planet exploded apparently
  2. Congrats @InstantRockstarand @Doomsday My brothas. Wheres that yam gif again??
  3. The Prague Presser! 1. LA and Toronto have new GMs. Do you have any experience with them? 2. Who is your favourite GM in the league so far? 3. It sucks to lose out to the Reign, do you think they will win it all? 4. What are your plans this off season? 5. Which fast food restaurant is your favourite place? 6. Any advice for any of the rookies on the team?
  4. Yeah I believe it limits your hits so if you’re investing in checking, it’s actually a backwards move
  5. I think there is a misunderstanding here, and I apologize if I was not clear in my writing. All I am trying to say is that GM's make the calls in the personnel decisions in their franchise and will have to live with the consequences. If you are gunning for the cup and make all the necessary Oh definitely however I was just merely discussing further. My bad! Was definitely not offended haha.
  6. I completely disagree with this point in regards to selling your future to win a cup. I'm a former VHL GM and there could be some bias since I am currently contracted to Chicago but if you're in contention for a cup, you do everything you possibly can to go out and win that cup. It's the risk you take but you do it. In terms of technicality, Jeff hasn't done anything wrong as a GM for Phoenix. Why wouldn't you want to win a cup? Then you'll have people on the site saying that the GM didn't do enough to win it or put out his potentially best roster? If we're going to talk about opportunity cost, then it's worse in my eyes that he's gunning for the cup and doesn't buy more to shore up a win. It's all about assessing and understanding why GM's do what they do. He sold his future to win what we all hope to win in the VHL. Even if Chicago didn't win, it was worth it because you don't build up to that moment only to hold back. Remember, you own the responsibility to that roster, team and each player individually. Could he have done better in FA during the rebuild? Maybe. But that has no relation on whether or not he sold assets and went for a cup. Just my 2 cents anyways haha
  7. I had it as a friend once and it fucked me, best friend. So be careful!!!!
  8. The Prague Presser! 1. How are we going to turn this 3-1 deficit around? 2. How are you planning to slash Battre Sandstrom's tires so he doesn't make the next game? 3. Riiga has proven to be a tough team to face, do you think it'll become easier if we get past them in this round? 4. What is your favourite animal and why? 5. What is your go-to subway order with the sauces and seasonings? 6. How are you doing with COVID-19 and the pandemic so far?
  9. Is the shop still open? If so.... Player Name: Seymour Butts Preferred Render (NHL Player, IRL person, etc): Moe from Homer Simpsons Current Team: Chicago Phoenix Preferred Text (If any): I'll leave all the creativity to you.
  10. I think Jeff drafted me knowing I'm gunna build however I want considering I'm a former GM in the league and whatnot. The trust is there in that regard. I'll throw down 60 LD and we can keep track of it individually before that reroll comes down and see how it goes. Granted, my thoughts and beliefs are that not just 1 player does it, most players do it. And max at 50 so it's not the most expensive thing to do. Leadership is like... Salt ontop of your food after it's all cooked and done. Sure, it's great, but it doesn't necessarily make your player better at the fundamentals. You might WIN more in your career with it. So, there could be some value somewhere in there. GOD DAMN IT SHINDIGS YOU HAVE CONVINCED ME TO DO IT YOU CRAZY MFER!!!! LETS DO THIS BABY
  11. TBH I've noticed all my players explode when I invest in LD. Look at Michael Johnson for example. It definitely has some merit and I think the fact that it's completely ignored is hilarious. Maybe it's the best in goalies or something? Theres something there and I just can't put my pinky on it.
  12. The VHL has been a party for the past 4 years. In fact, I have people invited to my wedding from the VHL, over people I know IRL. HOW CRAZY IS THAT? I'm just glad, come April, I'll be a part of this amazing community for 4 whole years. Insanity really. My partner calls me a nerd and if it means I get to be with you folk on my spare time, then call me a fookin NERD baby. I'm here to stay, in what capacity? I couldn't tell ya. BUT I'M NOT LEAVING. Okay, realistically, I might come and go. I'm in between careers, potentially, right now. I'm planning to have children soon (that poor child). I could go for a bit but I don't intend to be gone for long. Life happens, at the end of the day, a online internet game is fun and all but sometimes priorities kick in and thats okay. So, as a message to all of you who's reading this. It's okay to take a break sometimes. If you're feeling burn out, the current welfare system is great. Don't hesitate to do that. You are the most important, never forget this. Let's get this bread, baby.
  13. Gotcha on the title. This is becoming a norm now, where I just ramble on a saturday afternoon before the big day. Well, here it is. Something had to give with the meta, and I absolutely am in favour of these new hybrid attributes. The only thing is, now we all have to learn what works as a build and what doesn't. Which, in my person opinion, will be a fun thing to do. Will there eventually be a new meta? Absolutely. I don't doubt for a minute with nerds on the internet and a simulation league that we won't have a meta. The thing is, meta's won't hurt us as harshly as the 90 SC 40 PA world, which will be nice. I do, whole heartedly, believe we will have a meta again. What will it look like? No idea. But we were trending towards it all the years leading up to. Time to talk a little bit about my time in Vancouver. Now, I was running my team with Sixers until he decided to step down. So what did I naturally do? Well, I hired Nyko. Why? No clue. Obvious mistake for the league. We got to talking, he was testing a bit and we decided to buy into this 90 SC 40 PA world. Lets do this, I remember saying. Lets break the VHL. Eventually, I stepped down due to IRL reasoning but we got to see this day. I'm also not going to take claim for Vancouvers success. I think we can say, I played a part in it, but that's about it. Sorry VHL, blame Nyko obviously! You know what's really nice about these hybrid attributes is that we might see diversity in our players. We needed some parity, we needed variety, and I believe this gives that to us. We're going to have more range in our players which is something we needed. It's what the pro's have as well. Players that a great in different ways, not just in 1 specific way. This gives GM's, AGM's and commissioners more thoughts when it comes to helping the new players, which IMO is great. Getting our minds moving will be good for them and us old VHL bum heads. I'm very excited about these changes. It's sad in a way that we lost our privileges to the clients attributes since I never got to prove that LD was a valuable attribute. That's honestly the most disappointing part. I wish I could have. I probably should have. My hypothesis was that 50-55 LD made your player a top tier player. Reason being was that you could hype your team up. Apparently, LD meant that your player could bring your teams morale up (seriously) during a game, meaning if a goal was scored, you're more likely to get your team to perform better. I honestly think that the meta builds with a little bit of leadership would have been over powered as fuck and I'm glad we never got to see it but at the same time, as an avid user, I'd have loved to proven this hypothesis. Alas, maybe I'll prove it in test sims one day, I'm not trying to give away all the companies secrets, at least!
  14. The Prague Presser! 1. We have finished 2nd in the conference this season. What are your thoughts on our trajectory? 2. Do you think we have a chance to win it all? 3. NA had a strong conference with the top 2 places finishing in the 100 points range. If we make the finals, who do you think we will face? 4. How gnarly is your playoff beard? 5. Are you prepared to go into the playoff battle grind? 6. Do you think that we can win it all?
  15. I'll apply to both. Preference is Toronto ofcourse.
  16. I believe so. Granted this is the E so
  17. It's a strange feeling. Even though I've been injured, even through all the hard fought games. I somehow am keeping at pace for being a point per game player. It's a great feeling getting to this. It means I'm 1-2 steps away from being a dominant performer in the VHLE. If I can dominate well enough, I think I can make the VHL roster in Chicago. The General Manager has been incredibly supportive to me, has called me often enough and has told me where I could improve. Also the GM in Stockholm has been super supportive as well. He's definitely helped me set up a regime every day at the facilities. The support staff have been helpful as well. Each team is a very well run in helping my development. I got to give each team my praise. I'm happy to play for both teams in my career. Also, have you been following the E? I can't say I have been. Only because I've been so focused on my own play, my own systems and my own schedule. What's been going on? Any drama happening? I just want this team to explode and win another cup. Lets get it Stockholm.
  18. Lol it’s a bit frowned upon, atleast from my time in the M.
