Tagger got a reaction from Elmebeck in Tagger wins first Founders Cup
It’s been over six years since I joined the VHL and, despite having several players make their way out of the VHLM comfortably enough, they never found themselves drafted into the pros on the back of a Founders Cup victory. Whether that be from finding myself on bad teams (My stint on the Wild in S34 had myself and Smarch as the only actives on the roster and with Oslo in S51, I was the only active), bad/lazy management (The first GM of the S43 Bratislava Watchmen got sacked and his replacement never tried to get any of the deadline recreates) or actually GMing myself out of a chance of winning with a player (I was GM of the S55 Aces team that knocked out the heavily-favoured Storm team that featured Aackckqz Ky), a Founders Cup opportunity just never really came to pass.

So luckily I found my way onto the Wild for Season 69 and, well based on our roster, if we didn’t win this time then I think it’s be fair to say that the higher powers were just conspiring to fuck me over for that time I theorised about removing the VHLM back in S49. I certainly played my part as well, leading the VHLM in playoff points, so thanks to @Peace for setting this opportunity up!

Also, this is the first time writing a PT on my phone and it sucks!

I don't think it can be understated how important the VHL Portal has been to the VHL's growth over the last ten season or so. We went from a league that pretty much had to contract to eight teams based on player count (even with a number of members having two players at the time) to a league that has 12 teams of full rosters and a big reason for that was how much easier the Portal made it to create and maintain your player in comparison to the old purely forum based ways of the VHL that were used in its first 60 seasons.

But, as a league, I feel like we could always do more to make the league more accessible to new members who come in and find themselves overwhelmed by how the league works. I've got a couple of ideas in mind as to how we could improve the league in that regard; one idea I've had involves making short 1 min or less videos for each PT that covers how to do them and then subsequently claim them in the portal, but I'll have to wait for the right time to record all of them.

Another idea I had was maybe come up with another way of demonstrating what point tasks you can/cannot do in each given week. This isn't exactly as aesthetically-pleasing an example as I'd like due to my limited google sheets skill, but I think you can see the idea that I was going with here, just trying to set up a different way that people can see what's available for them to do each week in the VHL.

First of all, I'd like to congratulate Mississauga management ( @GustavMattias and @Berocka ) for making the finals, and their players for a fantastic season and series. After your first round selections - which surprised me - your rise above Mexico was both fun to witness and fuel for me to bug Motzaburger that Mexico kept falling and falling in the standings. Good luck next season, Hounds!

Now for my guys... obviously I have to start with @Elmebeck. You are a fantastic AGM that is arguably the breath of life for the team and locker room. You're inclusiveness, passion, presence and commitment to the players on the team will make you a great GM in the future.

    Now onto the players...

    @diamond_ace @Laflamme @Cran @JohnOQuinn @Edustava @Tagger @Ren @myself @Garrett @Jesse Nyman @Aye my name jeff @Viperxhawks19 @cjc_24 @Beketov @animal74 @Sade @leafsman @SlapshotDragon

It was an absolute honor to both play alongside you with Killinger, and be your general manage for this historical season. Saskatoon was insanely dominant this year, a year which the VHL will remember as Saskatoon's season. Season sixty nine (haha, nice) goes down in the record book - on the VHLM index anyway - as the strongest season ever by any single VHLM team.

Congratulations, everyone, you all deserved this.

So I personally like how you under the Draft page can see when the last update was made, https://vhlportal.com/teams/drafts/32

I'd love to have that for the team roster view too, would help a lot with lines and keeping on top on players that stop updating for whatever reason.

Yeah that's been a tough issue to tackle for awhile. I was thinking we could generate some sort of step by step guide that's built into the portal but that would be a ton of work for @Josh and or @Will. Maybe something that could trigger a reminder notification on the forums also. Something like "Don't forget to complete this weeks point task!" which would link to a relevant section.

Tagger reacted to Big Mac in Ranking the S61 1st round
So the title of the spot here, makes it pretty simple, so I don’t think I have anything to explain. I’m just gonna rank all the members of the S61, if they’re not in the portal I’m not ranking them plain and simple, so without further ado here we go, and yeah one last things they will either be ranked  **good**, **bust**, or **steal**.

    1. Matt Thompson - There’s really nothing wrong with this pick, he ended up being a generational talent who scored 150 points. He’s a Seattle legend, and is in the Hall of Fame. In 576 games he had 422 goals and 403 assists for 825 points. He's 2nd in the class in terms of points, and he’s one of the greatest. All that being said I’d say he’s a **good**.

    2. Samuel Gate - So Gate was the 2nd pick in the draft, and seeing how the first pick went you’d think this guy would be generational if not at least a hall-of-famer, but no while he wasn’t generational or a hall-of-famer, but he was fairly solid and was an amazing talent in his final season with Seattle, and maybe you can make a case for it, but that’s where I have him. Just to show you Gate's stats, in 432 games he had 67 goals, 321 assists, for 388 points. So considering all these things I’d say he’s **good**.

    3. Podrick Cast - Podrick, Podrick, Podrick, easily one of the best players we’ve seen with a career high of 174 points, that’s simply insane, but it’s been said that scoring was very high, but he just happened to be the highest of the high. In my opinion he’s the best player here, and his career totals agree with me, and here are the numbers. In 576 games Cast had 379 goals, 467 assists, and 846 points in his career. According to the portal Cast, is the 3rd highest player on the TPE leaderboard. So considering all of these facts, I was on the horizon of steal, but went with **good**.

    4. Roger Sterling - Roger Sterling wasn’t a bad player, but I don’t know if he should’ve been 4th overall. He had solid starting stats, but I don’t know about 4th...but he still did get a good/crazy amount of wins, like that guy won and won and won. He’s fairly high on the tpe leaderboards in the class though, and some goalies are just hated by the sims, and Roger, might be that guy, and of course it hurts that he never got the cup. So stating all of these I’ll go with my first **bust**.

    5. Arvid Aamo - So this pick honestly looking back was terrible, but I can see the mindset of this pick later, compared to the others he had a good amount of tpe for a draftee. Although this guy was on his drafted team for two year, and remember he’s a goalie so these guys sometimes are rare to come buy. So you’d think just maybe this change to a new team would be a really good one, hah noooooooo. That was nonexistent, he went from a winning season right to a terrible season, and he never played in a vhl regular season game again. So considering it was 3 seasons, I’d 'sadly' have to say this one is a **bust**.

    6. Edwin Preencarnacion - So this guy should honestly be the 3rd or the 4th pick, and considering the others above him it’s insane to think he’s not a top 2 pick, but that’s the reality of this Draft Class. He was apart of that great scoring effect in S62, and he had 140 points, and I’m back to recording the stats, and in 504 games, he had 303 goals, and 338 assists, and 641 points. Tagged hasn’t disappeared from the vhl season at all as he actually has the leading tpe prospect in this draft class (S70), and maybe I’ll make a MS or Article on that class. So considering everything he’s done I’ll have to say that he’s our first **steal**.

    7. Robert Malenko - Yikes, this guy is a pretty controversial figure pennypenny, a guy who’s gotten banned from the VHL discord server indefinitely, but that’s got nothing to do with his player so now to talk about his player. Malenko was really offensively sound for a defensemen, and that S62 season didn’t even get his top 2 highest scoring season, and he scored a lot of points that season with 72 points, and his career high is 106 points, and I’d just like to throw in he nearly reached 1000 shots blocked which is pretty crazy just thinking about it. So in 504 games he had 133 goals, and 377 assists, for 510 points just over a career point per game, and he recently finished his career with a season with D.C. In my opinion he’s the best defensemen in the draft, some people might wanna argue about that, and unlike Gate he actually won a cup. So now considering everything (besides the controversy part) I’d say he’s a **good** pick.

    8. Sergei Kovalev - This has to be the biggest downfall, so let’s talk about this 91 points in that juiced S62 season, and then it was downhill from there, and I get going downhill from S62 almost everyone here went down that way. He also had terrible defensive game, it’s not a terrible pick all things considered, but things could’ve went down better, but now for the stats in 360 games, he had 139 goals, and 160 assists, for 299 points, and looking at career points you probably think it’s not that bad, but given it’s not a ton of games, and he mainly banked off of that S62 season nearly hitting 100 points, now all things considered he’s a  **bust**. Just to clarify I was considering making a meh just for him cause his player is kinda vanilla, but I settled for bust not a bad rookie year.

Now that, that is all out of the way I’d like to thank everyone who read this entire thing, and I’d just like to say thank you for reading this whole thing, and enjoy the rest of your day

Happy holidays everyone! With the season ending just a couple days ago, it's now time for the players in the playoffs to take center stage and prove their worth the VHL GM's. Right now, this is where my rankings stand:

    Mikko Lahtinen -
    Edwin THE Encarnacion -
    Odin Omdahl 1
    Shawn Glade Jr 1
    Jacques Lafontaine -
    Chad Magnum 1
    Iangenere Risteneen 2
    Lewis Dawson 2
    Kyle Andersen New
    Damien Wolfe 2

Lots of moving around this week. I'm really not sure if Lahtinen or Encarnacion is the better pick right now, but you can't go wrong with either one.

I've made a new TPE earning spreadsheet that I would really appreciate if you guys checked out. It shows a lot about consistency in earning TPE, and how much someone has earned in a specific amount of time. There's also a page on S71 draftees. Here's the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit?usp=sharing

    Anyways, onto the stats.

    Profiles

    Chad Magnum - C - 185 TPE
Chad Magnum is one of those players who have, at some point, burst onto the scene. The difference with him is that he still hasn't stopped. A strong, almost barbaric scorer, Magnum is able to use his strength to his advantage by willing his way to the net seemingly every shift. If his team doesn't have it, he's after the puck immediately, forechecking hard and delivering some huge hits, of which he had 149 this season. He is reliable on the ice and off the ice, with his remarkable consistency in earning high amounts of TPE each week.

    Edwin THE Encarnacion - D - 307 TPE
One of the unanimous top 2 up to this point, Encarnacion has put up incredible numbers as a defenseman in the VHLM this season. His 94 assists puts him at third in the entire league, and his +92 (you read that right) puts him at second in the league behind his teammate Danny DeYeeto. The 50 year old is an amazing two way defenseman, with little to no flaws in it. He is sure to be a star in the VHL, and it will be fun to watch.

    Derek Eriksson - RW - 131 TPE
Eriksson is a player who I feel doesn't get enough recognition, and one that I felt badly about not including in my unsung heroes edition from last week. He has quietly put up nearly a point per game on Philly, and gotten into the top 10 for points in the draft class. My 12th ranked prospect, Eriksson has a lot of offensive upside with great scoring instincts and puck handling, but not to the detriment of his great defensive game, putting up a nice +18 on the season.
