    Mid-Season Mock Draft

    With the mid-season mark quickly approaching, the season of the mock draft is here. The VHL has seen a few drafts in a row that are chalk full of talent, and this year’s S68 draft should prove to be no different. With 34 players already going over the 100 TPE mark, with plenty of others primed to hit it in the next few weeks, teams will be getting some really solid prospect depth. For the third year in a row, it looks like the VHL will be getting lots of capped players being drafted. Does this give a need for expansion? Many would be able to make a case for that. But that’s a media spot for another week! Let’s get to the mock! Today I’ll just be covering who I believe will go top three, with more to follow in the next few days/week.

    1st overall,  Malmo Nighthawks, D Condor Adrienne

    Just like last year, the gap between the top ranked player and 2nd ranked is large. Adrienne has about 35 TPE more than the next best, and Malmo is in the market now for best player available. The Nighthawks, in their sophomore season, are struggling but have the youth and talent to put together a formidable team in a few more seasons. Their oldest player is a S61 Mikka Pajari, but other than that they have mostly 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players. Adrienne is having a great year with the dominate Reapers of the VHLM, scoring over a point per game and throwing the body around, averaging two hits per game. He’ll be an instant impact defender for the Nighthawks, slotting in at #4 of 5 on their depth chart.

    2nd overall,  New York Americans, D Lance Flowers

    CowboyinAmerica is back, and a franchise that needs a hero could be in luck. The American’s have by my quik count, eleven inactive skaters and three inactive goalies. They desperately need some players who will stick it out and need to churn out some skilled players. CIA obviously has had success building in the past (see Gabriel McAllister). His current player, Lance Flowers, has been earning like crazy and has had some personal success with Yukon. He’ll be over 300 TPE and will slot in as the number one defender TPE wise on a graveyard of a team.

    3rd overall,   HC Davos Dynamo,  Teemu Lehtinen Jr

    This is where the draft starts to get tight, with the separation between player #2 and #3 being over 50 TPE. But fear not, teams picking number three to ten (honestly, well beyond ten), you’re going to get some really solid players who will contribute for you. At third, I’ve got Teemu Lehtinen Jr. He’s had a terrific first half of the season, scoring twenty goals and adding nineteen assists for Mexico City. After just two goals in twenty-six games last year, he’s taken off in a big way. Look for Lehtinen Jr. to flirt with fourty goals this season.

    Early Monday morning, Dan Wilinsky will pass 1000 tpe, making him the 5th player from the S63 draft to hit the mark. He will also be the 4th First Generation from the draft class to accomplish the feat.

    In an interesting twist, only two teams hold these 5 players, with Riga having its GM player Kallis Kriketers as well as former 1st overall pick Ryan Kastelic.

    Helsinki has the other 3 players. Julian Borwinn and Alexander Pepper were both originally drafted by the Titans, while the newest member of the 1000 tpe club Dan Wilinsky was recently acquired from New York to bolster it's playoff run.

    Having 5 1000 tpe members will tie the S61 class who also had their 5th player hit the milestone in June. As both years wind their careers down, it'll be interesting to see who can rack up more total tpe and 1000 tpe players.

    But it's more than likely just another reason why the S63 draft is is the best ever

    Just over a quarter of the way through the season! The "old dogs" are reigning supreme this year, as we sit with the only three teams currently out of playoff contention being the newest, sophmore teams in the league! The champions of the last two seasons (Philadelphia and Minnesota) are the #1 and #2 teams, both only losing two games thus far. As usual, we have some high scoring going on, as three players currently sit at a 2 points per game pace. A few goalies are having reallly incredible seasons as well! We'll talk more about that in the "league recap" section.

    1) Uncapped TPE Opportunities: Any time there's a one-off or once-a-season point task available to enter, you'll find out about it in the early headlines of the article.
    2) League Recap: The middle of the Newsletter is generally based around keeping you up to speed with what's going on around the league, be that changes to how the league works, new features or how the current VHLM season is progressing.
    3) TPE Earning Guide: The bottom section of the Newsletter follows the same format each week. There, you will be provided with the links you need to get to the regular TPE earning activities.

    Before we start with anything I would like to remind you about the Official VHL Discord Server. The discord is a great place for you to connect with other members of the site and get help with anything you need! I would highly recommend joining and being apart of the community there. Like the last VHLM Newsletter, some of this newsletter will re-tread on the old ground as, with this being a VHLM newsletter, there will inevitably be new members reading this for the first time that won’t be aware of what was in previous newsletters. So what I’ll do is put a bold *NEW* next to any information specifically made for this newsletter so players who have read these before knowing where to go to find the new info!

    League Announcements

    This will be a new section, with general league news (non-game related)  or threads of interest to VHLMers.

    Hiring VHL GM - Hiring for this is still open. Lots of great names have been suggested, and yours could be next! An unknown GM is stepping down, so no news yet on which team has the incoming void. Even if you are newer and think you might not be experienced enough, it's great to get your name out there for future job openings!
    Happy Birthday VHL!- Check this out for some really easy TPE!! Still going on for the second week, TPE will be available to claim up to August 18th. Just give three name ideas to replace the current generic names of bots. It's that easy! Up to 18 TPE!

    Recruit a Friend TPE
    Probably the best way to earn some uncapped TPE is to recruit a friend! You can receive some hefty uncapped TPE bonuses by recruiting a friend and helping them make a player! You can earn up to 15 Uncapped TPE from a single recruitment! For more information, click this link.

    Practice Facility
    Every week, players in the VHLM are granted 2 free TPE every week for simply posting in the practice facility thread. If you haven't already, go post your player name and "+2" here.

    Career PT - Player Biography
    Once per career, you can write a biography about your player for a whopping TEN uncapped TPE! The biography must be at least 1000 words in length while detailing the history of your player's life, starting off the ice and eventually working up toward it. A more specific rubric can be found on the page here. When claiming the TPE for this task, make sure you submit it under via portal as "Other" --> "Biography"

    Career PT - Rookie Profile
    Once per career, you can write a rookie profile that specifically details your player's strengths and weaknesses on the ice. Think of this like a scouting report, where you're telling GMs what to expect out of your player. A more detailed rubric for the rookie profile can be found on this page. This report must be at least 500 words in length, and focus only on your player's on-ice attributes. When turning this task in, be sure to submit it under "Other" --> "Rookie Profile"

    The VHL Fantasy Zone
    Every week, players are given the chance to guess the results of upcoming VHL games. This comes in two different forms- the weekly Pick 'Em's (which are worth 2 uncapped TPE for getting all of them correct), and the weekly Score Prediction (which is worth 3 uncapped TPE for getting correct). Even if you don't get it right, it's worth a shot to take a look at the games and give it your best guess! If you want, you can even cheat and copy the guesses of a member that's already posted. These will be posted in this subforum every week.

    Player Store- First Generation Doubles Week
    If you've got the money (1.5m in player store cash, the amount of every VHLM contract) you can purchase a doubles week if you're on your first player. For those who haven't had one before, a doubles week allows you to claim an extra 6 uncapped TPE if you submit a media spot, graphic, or podcast!

    The VHLM Fantasy Zone
    The VHL Fantasy Zone's younger brother allows you to earn even more uncapped TPE for guessing the correct winners and scores. However, these predictions are only available to players within the VHLM, so make use of them while you can! The VHLM Fantasy Zone differs in its TPE rewards, in that the weekly Pick 'Em's are only worth 2 uncapped TPE, but guessing the correct score is worth 4! These will be posted in this subforum every week.

    The First Generation Bonus
    As a thank you to the newer members for sticking around and participating in the league, we're offering 10 free uncapped TPE for your first player, once they cross the 100 TPE milestone! If you've passed that mark, or are about to pass that mark, make a post in this thread and use it to submit an update. To make the job of the updates easier, please select "Other" when applying the update and fill out the box as seen below:

    2) League Recap

    What a wild ride we've had thus far, having just passed the quarter mark of the season. Three teams have broken away from the herd in terms of contenders. The Minnesota Storm (18-2-0),  Philadelphia Reapers (16-2-1) and the Ottawa Lynx (14-4-1). All three teams have scored a boat load of goals (81, 87 and 79 respectivley). The Storm have only allowed 31 goals all season, good enough for about 1.5 per game. That's been thanks to their studly goalie, Justin Cole. Cole had previously played S64 and S66 in the VHLM, and S65 in the VHL for a newly minted Moscow Menace. Cole has used his tough times on some bad teams to his advantage, and is now leading the league with a 1.49 GAA.

    On the offensive side of the puck, we've got some players making a huge impact and showing that they are truly ready to make the jump to the VHL. Alex Pearson, centerman for the Reapers, is enjoying a terrific season. Playing last year as a UDFA with San Diego, he was then selected by the Reapers. He's got 18 goals and 19 assists in 19 games. Another player having a terrifc year is Anthony Hawk. With 33 points, he's filling up the score sheet. But he's making an impact in more ways than scoring. Hawk has a league leading 90 hits, up on the second place player by almost 20 hits.

    Here's a little 1/4 of the way mini award ceremony, where I'll pick some top players at their positions, and do some individual awards as well;

    Top All Around Forward;
    LW Anthony Hawk
    19 GP, 14 G, 19 A, +28, 90 Hits
    As mentioned above, Hawk has done a tremendous job filling up the score sheet, and has been a monster throwing his body around. True power forwards don't come along often, but Hawk has shown that he has the skills to more then keep up offensivley, and at the same time, destroy opponents with his physicality. Hawk will graduate to the VHL next season with Moscow

    Top Goal Scorer;
    C Alex Pearson
    19 GP, 18 G, 19 A, 17 SHT%
    Pearson has been a master at putting the puck in the net for the Reapers. He has one of the highest shot totals in the league, and still maintains his very high shooting percentage. The Reapers have enjoyed a lot of success this year and are a strong candidate to repeat, and that's largely in thanks to Pearson. Pearson is an over ager and will make the move to play with Helsinki in the VHL next year.

    Top Defender;
    D Kefka Palazzo
    18 GP, 11 G, 25 A, 37 SB
    Palazzo is a second year VHLMer, playing last year with the Saskatoon Wild. He came over to the Storm and has made a huge jump. Well over an assist per game, and adding 11 goals, Palazzo has shown a real ability to lead offensivley, while blocking 37 shots and showing his high end defensive skills. Palazzo is another one of those great young Seattle prospects, and will make the jump next year to the Bears.
    Top Goaltender;
    G Fang Flashback
    17 GP, 16 W, 1 L, 2.11 GAA
    Flashback is a new goalie, only coming into the league at the beginning of July. He stepped right into the starters role of the defending champs and hasn't looked back. Look for Flashback to be a quik mover up draft boards.

    Yeah, sometimes recruitment is a bit of a thankless job. We understand life happens sometimes, so as long as you understand that the newsletter needs some more flesh, there's not any recourse happening from our end. If you still feel like stepping down at the end of the week, that's understandable, but give it a bit of time before officially deciding, one way or the other.

    Hey, I didn’t set the pay. I do admit that this was not the best attempt. I get that. But like I said earlier, it was Friday, I wanted to make sure I got a newsletter done before I left work as I knew I would be busy all weekend as it was my weekend with my daughter. I thought any newsletter was better than non at all, but apparently I was wrong.

    I guess I’m “clapping back” as someone said, or defending myself because I don’t appreciate people coming at me the way I was spoken to in this thread. If a person had a problem with it, they should have taken it directly to Beaviss (privately Imight add) and he could have spoken to me, and it would have been no issue.

    Regardless, I do apologize for how I’ve reacted, I got a bit heated but don’t feel as though what I said was wrong or out of place. Should have left it alone I guess. But it’s over with, I’ve stepped down from the recruitment team as I didn’t think people cared so much about a fake newsletter.

    also I apologize to @DilIsPickle, had I have known that you’re just a kid I wouldn’t have spoken to you how I did. And I mean that.

    Okay but as I stated..

    yeah its its not worth it. I hope one of you guys can do it better in the future! Jobs open, feel free to apply! Not dealing with the gang up attitude that you guys have, I guess being a good person isn’t enough anymore. If you aren’t an old boy in the VHL, you just can’t cut it.

    Consider me done, nice knowing you all

    And btw before you drag my name through the mud and claim I was “lazy”, here’s me contacting YOU on what you wanted me to do as the AGM. Notice there’s no reply. You then contacted me last minute a day or two later to get lines in, and when I failed to do so (again, life happens, as I’m sure you’re aware), you gave me a really rude response and I remembered how big of a jerk you were from my brief time with Saskatoon as a player. So before you drag me through the mud for my performance, maybe think about your own and how you could have helped me succeed

    Deleted what I said originally because I'm done being ganged up on by the douche crew of the VHL. Leagues biggest dick wads decided they'd get totgether and make an appearance in a thread to attack me for a fucking newsletter.

    Dill Pickle I get, the guy is like a 17 year old kid, but others who posted and think they're so cool because they're in the VHL clique, just move on with your lives.

    ... they just simply stated you should not be paid THAT much TPE for so little...

    rj th has been posting in all the new players threads and the other recruitment members doing the rest.

    Because this is copy/pasted and so little is your own content, this wouldn’t even pass as a 6 TPE article, let alone 12 TPE for the job you’re paid for.

    I think instead of clapping back at everyone and being so defensive you should just accept the fact that this took you all of 30 seconds to do...

    Here's a little 1/4 of the way mini award ceremony, where I'll pick some top players at their positions, and do some individual awards as well;

    Top All Around Forward;

    Top Goal Scorer;

    Top Defender;
    Top Goaltender;

    Uncapped Point Task Opportunities
    -          There is 2 TPE to be earned from posting in this week’s Practice Facility
    -          There is the VHLM Pickem and Predict the Score (in the VHLM Fantasy Zone). If you correctly guess the results, you will earn uncapped TPE for your player! You'll be able to participate in the VHL Fantasy Zone as well.

    -          If you haven't already, make sure to spend some of your contract/sponsorship money on the First Generation Package in the Player Store. It's an exceptionally cheap purchase that gives you five uncapped TPE.

    Weekly Reddit Threads

    Do this for one free TPE!

    Here's a little 1/4 of the way mini award ceremony, where I'll pick some top players at their positions, and do some individual awards as well;

    Top All Around Forward;

    Top Goal Scorer;

    Top Defender;
    Top Goaltender;

    -          You can submit a 500-word Rookie Profile for 8 TPE and a 1000 word Biography for 10 TPE. These two are one time only point tasks.
    -          If you haven't already, make sure to spend some of your contract/sponsorship money on the First Generation Package in the Player Store. It's an exceptionally cheap purchase that gives you five uncapped TPE.

    Here's a little 1/4 of the way mini award ceremony, where I'll pick some top players at their positions, and do some individual awards as well;

    Top All Around Forward;

    Top Goal Scorer;

    Top Defender;
    Top Goaltender;
