  1. Yeah instead of digging your own grave
  2. Since we happen to be in the same draft classes, kindly let me know for my next player what your intention is for recreate, so I know what not to opt for.
  3. 1. Since the core has not changed much and we got Doinks for Ducky, I think we should be in playoff contention. 2. Yes and no. There is the draft happening which is interesting even if you are not part of the class. Plus WC/WJC and the good old ProAm. And simmers need some time off as well (I know, very unpopular opinion). 3. Mulberry Street in a fix rent appartment, that French was able to 'find' from one of his 'associates'. Living there with roomie Rin. 4. To crush my enemies. See them driven before me. And to hear the lamentations of their fans (iykyk). 5. There are so many. Maybe the Yellowstone National Park would be very high on the list. 6. I have only seen it once (I think the year it was released) and I do not recall the traps. So I go for the falling iron from Home Alone one.
  4. Poor opponents will face the True Grit of Strassmore @Phil and Janser, two of the hardest hitter in the league...
  5. Transaction ID: 26J80365LR802602F Doubles week 1 Mill 5 uncapped TPE
  6. 'I feel the need, the need for speed.'
  7. you are just hoping for the Cologne article (wasn't there one already?)
  8. graphic courtesy by Leandrofg (stats for Janser, stats for Kagamine) The fat lady sang and the DC Dragons are reigning Continental Cup champions. So now the great nothingness that is the off-season has finally arrived. Not so much for Callum. He signed up for the traditional ProAm Tournament and will represent the Birmingham Dragons, while his father will lace his skates for the Winnipeg Royals. We will not be able to see the 'Beauty and the Beast' in this tourney, as the Japanese defender is flying back home to pay much overdue visits to her family and friends. The hulking Swiss asked Rin to bring back some Mangas, to improve on his Japanese, which he has taken up in his free time. The Swiss prodigy also has received a letter from his unit in the Swiss Army. Apparently for the units next refreshing course, they are short staffed on officers and Callum was asked whether he could jump in. Even though as an expat he is excused from serving in the Armed Forces, the Calgary native immediately said yes. It is also a good opportunity to go and see friends and family back home. He will get his Captain's uniform from his parents' place and report for duty in Andermatt, where the competence center for alpine warfare is located. It will be the first time he will be in the army after becoming a VHL player. He is excited whether his notoriety for a no-nonsense physical defender in one of the physically most taxing sports is a boon or a curse in a unit full of hard men and women, who are trained to fight their battles in one of the most unforgiving terrains imaginable. Should he be bored for whatever reason, there is still this yacht project on the back burner. As soon as Ducky learned that Callum is a shipbuilding engineer, the retiring Americans defender told him about his vision of an explorer yacht. Janser named him a few reputable shipyards, which are specialized on this kind of vessel, including iceclass hulls. But Mallum insisted that his team mate has to be involved in the design of his ship. So the Americans' alternate captain got in touch with a few shipbuilders and explained the situation. One of them looked at his CV and were impressed about his credentials. They offered him a co-operation where he will be the middle man for this build and give inputs about Maellard's special requirements and help designing the boat to the customer's needs. Callum gladly accepted the offer and is now helping to design Ducky's yacht. However, what he looks most forward to is the ProAm, where he will measure himself against his father for the first time on a semi-competitve level. He is smiling at the prospect of thwarting a scoring opportunity for his old man. It will interesting to see, how much rust his dad has managed to knock off for this family tradition and if he is still able to score on a meaningful pace against younger competition. The coming weeks will show, how capable the HOFer still is and we will make sure to report on this in due course. https://vhlforum.com/topic/143547-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xiv-another-title/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/144188-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xv-first-games-as-a-murican/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/144581-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xvi-one-third-in/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/145143-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xvii-a-seasons-review/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/145455-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xix-a-rookie-season-interview/ 522 words
  9. 1. The NA conference defended the Continental Cup. Explain why this is a good/bad thing. 2. Why do you think the Dragons were victorious? 3. Are you participating in any offseason Tournaments? If yes which ones and if no, why did you not sign up for the ProAm? 4. Next season will be CGY die hard Strasmore's last season. How does your player say goodbye to this legend? 5. What was your favourite subject in primary school and why? 6. If someone offered you to stay for two months in a loghouse in the wilderness for free with everything provided for except Wifi/Television would you do it? Elaborate why/why not.
  10. I could live without pancakes, but without spuds? That would be a challenge...
  11. I was so sure you'd say Scott Stevens...
  12. Is that the name of your S121 player? like the legendary CAL G?
  13. The 'Spirit of competition rule' says best available roster. Players who are traded away, are obviously not available anymore. Are you suggesting that no trade can be approved if it is not an upgrade? That would be odd, as every trade which matches this description is clearly a downgrade on the other side of the deal, innit? And how would we value the picks involved in the trade? as non-existant as they obviously will not play a single game in the present season?
  14. that is what I meant to say, but apparently made hay out of it. Thanks for clarifying for anyone not being able to look into my head
  15. At the moment we have 22 VHL-ready goalies. Six surplus to requirement, if no back up is needed. No-one has ever enforced (at least not to my knowledge) the spirit of competition rule when an active human has been played instead of bots, as long as the mandatory 8 backup games have been complied with. Apparently back in the day GM's did not play their backups (human ones) in any significant number and hence a rule had to be established accordingly to give back up goalies at least some games during the season. I do not think a rule change is warranted under these circumstances. Fatigue is an interesting concept (so are injuries imo), but do not know whether this will find league wide support and how difficult it would be to implement (maybe a test can be run in the JST/ProAm to see how it would effect the league?).
  16. graphic courtesy by Leandrofg (stats for Janser, stats for Kagamine) Our New York correspondent Dick Hammer had a chat with Callum after the 3-1 series defeat at the hands of the Toronto Legion. Here is what the Americans' alternate captain had to say. DH: 'Hi Callum, thanks for meeting up with me.' CGY: 'Hi Richard. Well, one could say I have more spare time at hand to give interviews and such.' DH: 'Or golfing?' CGY: 'Golfing is definitely not my sport. I have the hot take that golfing is a glorified walk in the park. I would rather be rock climbing, but since this is considered a risky pastime, my contract explicitely forbids me to engage in same. We'll see what I will pick up as an alternative. Rin introduced me into the art of Ikebana, but I fear I do not have the patience for it. But it is certainly nice to know more about arranging flowers and it is interesting to learn how much thought goes into it.' DH: 'Do you have any thoughts on the Wild Card series loss for our readers or is it too soon?' CGY: 'Nah, I am fine. Life is about learning and my dad told me that you learn more from defeats than from victories. I was going into the series with a feeling that we can do it. In the regular season we have won four of the six games against Toronto. I considered their offence superior to ours, but we had one of the best defences in the league. So the netminders would be tipping the scales. I thought with two recent Clegane winners in 36xW and Wallob we would have the edge. Alas, Castle let down the portcullis so to speak, and we showed the illness which plagued us all season: a lack of scoring.' DH: 'Do you know about any changes planned to address this issue?' CGY: 'That is not for me to say. However, we have the greatest NHL scorer of all time in our prospect system and if Wayne cannot solve our scoring problem, who can? We also know for certain that we will lose Ducky and Clue to Father Time, as they hang up their skates for good. I could profit a lot from Mal's experience and Rin, Tord and I will have to step up to compensate his loss.' DH: 'On the other hand, the backend of New York's roster is young and has still a lot of untapped potential.' CGY: 'I do not disagree with you. I think for a defence which consisted of 50% rookies, we held ourselves pretty well. But as you said there is loads of room for improvement and we are constantly working on it.' DH: 'The Americans have only one pick in the oncoming draft, which is considered one of the deepest in recent years. Will that bite the franchise in the ass in the future?' CGY: 'I do not think so. We have a first round pick and should be able to secure a valuable piece for our franchise. There are a lot of interesting players in this draft. My believe is, that the cap will correct any 'overdrafting'. Riga will pick three first rounders, Moscow and Davos two each. If these prospects pan out as expected, it will be difficult to hold on to every player due to cap restrictions. We will see what happens, but from the state it is now, we will need to get players from the FA market to replace our retiring players. If we decide to do so, that is.' DH: 'Now to something off-season related: Will you participate in the ProAm Tournament again?' CGY: 'Barring any injuries, I will certainly take this opportunities to meet with other hockey players from all walks of life. Whether they are just starting in the VHLM or are retired HOFer, I think I can learn from everyone something and I hope they can take a leave from my book in return.' DH: 'Okay, that were all the questions for today, thanks Callum and have fun on the ProAM.' CGY: 'You betcha, eh?' Here the playoff stats for 'the Beauty and the Beast': Kagamine: 4gp, 1g, 0a, 1pt, -3, 0 PIM, 2 hits, 6sb Janser: 4gp, 0g, 3a, 3pts, -2, 19 PIM, 15 hits, 3sb, one tied fight https://vhlforum.com/topic/143134-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xiii-settling-in-in-new-york/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/143547-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xiv-another-title/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/144188-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xv-first-games-as-a-murican/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/144581-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xvi-one-third-in/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/145143-the-cgy-janser-story-part-xvii-a-seasons-review/
