    Prospect Scouting Report
    Forum Content – LW
    Saskatoon Wild

Drafted tenth overall in the VHLM’s Latest Dispersal Draft, Forum’s rise from the South American country of Chile has been just as stunning and the mountains he grew up around.  Coming in and expecting to play second fiddle to the likes of his teammates and captains (he was Saskatoon’s only pick in the first 29 draft slots), Forum threw everyone for a loop with his on-ice vision and awareness, as well as his demeanor and dedication to perfecting his craft off the ice.  Having played almost half of his first season with the Wild, we will quickly review Content’s performance and talents to date.

    Already There
Content could probably play in the VHLE right now if the opportunity presented itself, simply because he can find his teammates and get them the puck with ease.  It has been almost confounding that no team has really been able to stop Content and his offensive vision.  Averaging well over an assist per game, the Wild have been supported by Forum during the team’s slow start.  There is no need to guess who is crossing over the blue line with the puck; Content has been dangling through defensemen with ease all season due to his elevated puck handling.  As his teammates advance around him throughout the season, it will be exciting to see the counting stats perhaps get even more ridiculous.

    Could Use Some Work
All we could say with respect to Content’s amazing passing ability left us with a little to desire in the same vein with his wrist shot.  A player of his level and value, at this stage anyways, should be getting goals in droves.  Seeing as his teammates have started to figure out their roles on the team, this is something we are interesting to see whether or not Content develops more consistency getting the puck behind the net.  Forum’s skating and speed has been adequate, but for a guy who can make an opposing players trip themselves up trying to secure the puck, he wouldn’t have to expend as much energy if he could get a quicker start passing by them.

    Almost Pedestrian
We see this with every player at this stage because there just aren’t enough hours of practice yet to really define a player’s role or model, but we do wonder if Forum Content will ever develop a defensive game.  Is he a two-way forward if we look ahead a few years?  Probably not.  Granted, he is a forward and not necessarily a center, but the lack of any face-off experience is somewhat alarming.  Lastly, a lot of the intangibles are missing early in Content’s development.  There are no real signs of poise, leadership, or grit that really excite us.

    Early Indications
Forum Content is a pass-first, think-second forward that dazzles us with his playmaking ability as much as his willingness to round-out his game worries us.  The real development we are looking forward to will come in his second half with Saskatoon, as Forum will soon be capped at his practice hour limit for the season.

    1. it's probably been our lack of a balanced roster.
    2. I'd probably say @frescoelmo is the reason for that.

The conclusion of a Victory Hockey League career is finite, however within its limits allows a player to achieve various levels of success.  Throughout the minor league affiliates, a surplus of counting stats and success is relatively obtainable.  Suddenly, without what feels like a moment of notice, you land on a professional roster with expectations that you will more than likely not achieve in the first season.  But eventually you find your grounding, keep your head up, and hopefully your first contract concludes with an extension; the best situation for both player and team.

Finding a new client as a player-agent is both exciting and frustrating, all the same.  Sixteen teams have sixteen ideas of what they are looking for in the next entry level draft, and it is not likely to be you.  Your power comes in the form of activity, saving up countless practice hours and skating for a bottom-feeder the first few years until you reach the pinnacle of your early career; free agency.  That goes hardly as planned, getting picked up by a team that is ultimately underwhelming and probably was the outcome of better teams not having the financial capacity to offer you that juicy second contract.

So, you continue to play in your prime for a few years, get an accolade or two, and suddenly your skating has regressed.  You are now instantly slower.  What the fuck?  I am 28 years old and I can no longer shoot with my wrist the same way?  Blasphemy?  But Simon doesn’t care about your skating or wrist shot.  Simon needs to eat.

This is my favorite part, the fight to keep regression at bay while simultaneously becoming harder for teams to keep you on their roster.  How much for an old and outdated second-line winger?  No thank you!  You hit free agency yet again, this time superficially begging for an opportunity just to be relevant.  I hope you, the player-agent, has a job in the Victory Hockey League, as that might be the only way your player can keep up any significance as an aging veteran, without burning out reviewing articles.

And thus, we hit the infamous ‘retire player’ button, the hard reset on what was over a year of time externally wasted in real life, for another shot to change the narrative.  For redemption.  As a long-time member of this simulation league, I hit another hard reset with my last client, Malum Maellard, a fun but oft-irrelevant defensive defenseman that seemed to constantly find his way onto underperforming rosters and essentially providing an amplifier.  With Malum’s swan song ironically coming full circle (and certainly not intentionally) for the immediate future after having been traded to New York, the final chapter closes in the same city where it started.

Another opportunity arises at the conclusion of Season 92, with a new winger out of Chile who the Fresco Elmo Agency was delighted to pick up over the holiday weekend.  The valley that corrals the city of Santiago also is proud to host the latest talent signed by Elmo, Forum Content, a burly and quick forward who is excited to give the Agency another chance to deviate from the norm of its previous clients.

A month behind but I recently finished How The World Really Works (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/56587388-how-the-world-really-works) and really enjoyed the author, so I am in the middle of another of his, Numbers Don't Lie (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/50705179-numbers-don-t-lie) which draws a few parallels, but is significantly easier to pick up and read for a bit.

    A Quick Draft Recap

So I spent the last week messaging people who I thought would make potentially good fits for Saskatoon and making sure that people were happy playing with a rebuilding team. Also with going all in last season we weren’t really in a great position to have an incredibly exciting draft with the following picks being available to us. 10th, 30th, 40th & 50th overall.

So with my first pick at 10th overall I chose Forum Content, not only because I am a strong believer in Forum Content and also because @frescoelmo seems like a cool character to have on the roster, sure I know if we are rebuilding they might not get much of a chance this season but I would like to think that it could be some nice trade bait come trade deadline when the contenders are looking to bolster their rosters. Also, I really don’t think we will be the worst team in the league so tanking isn’t what I want to do.

After missing the 2nd round due to a trade made last season with the San Diego Marlins my next pick rolled around at number 30 at the end of the 3rd round. With this pick I grabbed Austin Goulet III, now @Tuchy responded to my draft message with a short and sweet response saying they had no problem coming over to the wildside. So, looking for a Goaler and one that might be able to help us in future seasons it seemed like a good pick to me. Plus, you never know that a portal only player might see this inspiring Media Spot and become a Forum Content king like my 1st pick. I always think that it is nice having a goalie on the roster, it means that you don’t need to try and draft/waiver sign or even trade for one in the future if you are trying to compete.

Next around was the end of the 4th round with pick number 40. With this pick I selected the returning VHLM Champion of the World Sylvia Davis @Possum Queen, it is nice to have a familiar face back in the locker room and defenders are always needed to make a championship side. Will be great to have Davis back winning games with the Wild again.

In Summary I believe that I have made a pretty decent core to build around both this season and next, I think this season there is potential for anybody to win as there is a lot of uncertainty around due to the ways of the youtube ad, we will probably get 50 odd new starters but it depends on how many stick around and what their earning rate is like. Hopefully we get multiple people who are max earners and we can really boost our Forum Content as the way I have heard things every media spot posted my first round pick will grow in size and become unstoppable by the end of the season.

Thank you all for reading let us all hope for another good season for the Wild.
