MADNESS IN MOSCOW: MENACE WIN THE CUP

MOSCOW - After 17 seasons, three David Knight Trophies as top VHL GM, and five heartbreaking defeats in the Continental Cup Finals, there finally was nothing standing in the way of Euron Leonidas this time. With the celebration well underway, Leonidas was handed the Continental Cup by team captain Jeff Lewis, and triumphantly hoisted it above his head to the roaring approval of the home crowd and his players, none of whom had ever given up on him. The curse was finally broken.

The demons were finally exorcised with a dominant performance in which Moscow outshot the Toronto Legion 50-20, and despite a valiant effort from Joel Castle, it simply wasn't enough as Olober Syko stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced. Steve Lattimer capped off a dominant playoff run with what proved to be the Cup-winning goal in the first period, along with an insurance tally in the second period. With victory close at hand, there was simply no stopping the Moscow Menace this time, coasting to a 4-1 victory and a 4-2 series victory to clinch the franchise's second Continental Cup.

The celebration is on in Moscow, with only one question remaining: can they do it again next season?
