What is your favorite piece of VHL Content that you've created?

Recommended Posts

With S100 fast approaching and so many older members re-creating for the draft class I figured it would be interesting to new members and old to share their favorite piece of VHL Content that they've created as a quick hitter intro!  Some inspiration for our newest members as well as some recognition for the past.

I like this thread.

I think my best contribution is probably Nyko's Great Graphics Tournament.

Quick looking through sigs I like this one when I look back on it:

I think I've also done some good analysis media, here's one:

These are awesome!  I had heard there used to be graphics competitions!  Would have been fun to compete.  This is exactly what I was looking for, some throwback content to mix in with the new!

This is indeed a good thread.

Mine is probably my Podcast Tournament submission. At least, it's the podcast I put the most effort into:

I liked a lot of Boom's posts,  maybe my greatest contribution as it kept him motivated to post more.

Team awards are fun and create another layer of enjoyment. I wish more teams did this. They don’t even need write ups but giving out team awards is fun.

I find it crazy that submissions used to be graded!  The amount of work it would have taken to approve posts would have been crazy and I feel like there is still an issue these days with people responding to media spots.  Unless it is about throwing someone under the bus or someone thinking they understand STHS it is usually pretty quiet.  Unfortunate for new members mostly.   Also, your second link doesn't go to where you intended it to go!

Gosh, so much history and great posts from the past. Makes me feel antsy even replying to this thread. I mean, how do you compete with a time honored classic? The simple answer is you don't, so all I can do is offer my current series as something I enjoy writing. Now if I'm fortunate enough to share that enjoyment with someone else - great! Mission accomplished!! 🍻

Thank you - fixed it.

I mean, if we're self-promoting...easily my biggest endeavor and my longest project was Gustav 30 in 30--my thesis on my first 30 seasons. My last one has links to all the others at the bottom.

It's hard to think of standalone articles I've written that I'd identify specifically. That said, you always remember what you did when you were new the best. One of my first mega-long articles was my first mock draft, which ended up being surprisingly accurate for a deep and heavily first-gen draft class. I've done much more technically impressive things, but I remember how rewarding it felt to write that one and follow it. I even remember coming home the night of the draft being hardly able to wait to check where I was picked and what was up with my article, and it was a rare type of VHL magic that I'm not quite sure it's possible for me to feel anymore after this much time through the process.

I've been here so long that I was one of the graders!

The Assignment: The Board Game Clue On Skates

During a VHL holiday auction, one of the prizes was to have a media spot written by me about anything they wanted. @Shindigs won the auction for a donation of $56 dollars, and requested an in-depth scouting report on @MubbleFubbles current player, The Board Game Clue on Skates. What followed was over 3,000 of the most researched, yet also the most absurd article I've ever written.

I like how the most recent one is like, "Damn we're getting old and lazy!" And that was 7 years ago.

I'm particularly proud of the two-part Reverse Retro series I did, because it was a lot of effort: Part 1 Part 2

I also did a series of media spots that I'm partial to on the S26 Vasteras team that traded for every pick in the first two rounds of the VHLM draft but didn't manage to win the cup (here's part two).

I've made way too many sigs to think about a favorite. And at least half of them sucked, probably.
