Welcome one and all to this season’s VSN hosted VHLM Awards! This season was full of surprises; new GMs, new logos, some actual first-round upsets (not just sweeps!). We even heard the exciting news of an expansion, so get excited to have the Miami Marauders join us in the future! I, as always, am your host Mr_Hatter, but this time I will be joined by fellow VSN correspondent Patrik Tallinder in presenting the individual awards.

Coming fresh off their finals appearance last season, the Ottawa Lynx returned again, and this time they made no mistake. Congratulations to the Lynx on their Founder’s Cup victory, and to all the statistical award winners in this season. Some fantastic performances came out and did us proud. These players were often named in our weekly reviews week in and week out and for good reason!

Top Defenseman Award "Ryan Sullivan Trophy"

In order for a defenseman to be considered one of the best, they must demonstrate both offensive and defensive prowess. This season, another name is added to the list of remarkable VHLM defensemen who have done just that.

With four votes, the runner up for the Ryan Sullivan Trophy is Nikita Kulikovich @Lockdown Defense!

Top Goaltender Award "Benoit Devereux Trophy"

A top goaltender can often make or break a team’s performance. That much was the case this season, as our winner and runner up helped their teams succeed, finding the top two spots in both regular season and playoffs. There were many goaltenders this season whose performances warranted attention, but there can only be one winner.

With two votes, the runner up for the Benoit Devereux Trophy is Nicolas Fomba @efiug!

:ott:

You might already know this, but with nine votes in his favour, your top goalie in the league is Joakim Bruden!
Congratulations @PadStack!

Top Two-Way Forward Award "Matt Bentz Trophy"

When discussing forwards, a lot of the glory is given to those who put up the most points, and that attention is well-deserved. However, versatility is something that should be celebrated just as much, and that is the purpose of the Matt Bentz Trophy. The winner this season managed to bring both of these concepts together, being a top point scorer, as well as showing great versatility along the way.

Amassing four votes, the runner up for this award is Alex Bridges @Alex Bridges

:ott:

The winner of the Matt Bentz Trophy, with eight votes, is Richard Penisson!

Congratulations @bluesfan55!

Playoff MVP Award "Skylar Rift Trophy"

The Skylar Rift Trophy designated the playoff performer that contributed most to their team’s postseason success. This season we had a somewhat split vote, with four separate players receiving at least one. In the end, all four of them were critical to their teams’ success in the post-season, but in the end, only one can be crowned MVP.

As your runner up, with three votes, we have the Yukon Rush’s wonderful Vin Calia @VinCal!

:ott:

Once more on the podium, the most valuable player of the playoffs is Ottawa’s Richard Penisson, with six votes!
Congratulations @bluesfan55!

 :ott:

Next up - Regular Season MVP - Mitch Higgins Trophy!

Regular Season MVP Award "Mitch Higgins Trophy"

Being crowned the most valuable player in the VHLM puts your name in elite company. While it often takes a great deal of time and thought to decide on one person to win it, that wasn’t the case this season. The winner of the Mitch Higgins Trophy in S71 won by unanimous decision.

:ott:

Without further ado, the most valuable player of the regular season is Ottawa’s Richard Penisson!

Congratulations @bluesfan55!

Lastly - Top Executive - Jack Reilly Trophy!

Top Executive Award "Jack Reilly Trophy"

Naming a top executive for this season was not something easy to do. There were many deserving GMs whose dedication and passion for their team shone through. At the end of the day, the winner took the vote by just a single ballot, to avoid a three-way tie. Before we announce the winner, let’s quickly thank all our VHLM GMs for their hard work in making this league a welcoming place!

Now, for your runner ups - with three votes each, @MexicanCow123 of the Yukon Rush and @iRockstar of the San Diego Marlins!

:ott:

Finally, in a nailbiter, your top executive(s) of Season 71, both @Acydburn and @DoktorFunk of the Ottawa Lynx!
Congratulations to the both of you. Acyd, for your tireless work that set up this franchise for success, and Doktor Funk, for guiding the ship home, and executing your gameplan flawlessly.

And just like that, our coverage of the VHLM has ended for another season. Be sure to stay tuned for future VSN productions coming this offseason, and rest assured, we’ll be there to kick things off again in Season 72! As always, we would like to extend our thanks to the VHLM Commissioners of @Banackock and @diamond_ace, whose work helps this league run smoothly. Without them, the VHLM wouldn’t be the place that it is, and from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

I have been your host Mr_Hatter, joined tonight by my esteemed co-host Patrik Tallinder, and on behalf of the whole VSN crew, thank you, and good night!
