Awarded annually to the player who scores the most points in the VHLM, the Ethan Osborne Trophy recognizes the greatest offensive player in the M. This season, we had three standouts who recorded over 100 points!

    C Tullemore Dew @Spade18 (HFX) - 37 goals, 64 assists
    D Reginald the Dodo @Esso2264 (MIS) - 29 goals, 72 assists
LW Justin Williams @JCV (MEX) - 46 goals, 55 assists

Astute mathematicians out there may have noticed that all three of our candidates finished with 101 points, meaning all three of them are co-winners of the Ethan Osborne Trophy!! This is the third time this has happened, the first since Season 74, and the first time in VHLM history that three players have tied for the league lead in points.

Congratulations to Tullemore Dew, Reginald the Dodo, and Justin Williams on staking your claim in VHLM history as co-winners of the Ethan Osborne Trophy!

This is the sixth edition of the VHL Trade Wars, and I am your host Advantage, here to bring you another trade breakdown.  This week will see us looking at a trade between the New York Americans and the Quebec City Meute that involved two picks and a player that carved out quite a productive career at multiple positions.  Who takes the cake in this one? Lets take a look.

This trade saw the New York Americans trading for a hot and upcoming forward that was coming off a 76 point and 211 hit season in David Kiaskov, but it wouldn't be cheap as they had to move two picks to do it, including a S62 1st Round Pick.  Kiaskov would go on to have a very productive six year VHL career with 429 points, 1258 hits and 414 blocked shots over 432 career games, split between forward and defense.

There wasn't a ton of initial response regarding the move with most of the reaction heard via podcasts and interviews being from Kiaskov himself who was really excited to play a role in potentially winning a Continental Cup.  There also was some reported excitement coming from GM Beaviss himself who at one point did think that the first round pick they had acquired was potentially going to be a higher pick in the first round.  Ultimately it did end up ending up as the seventh pick though so the Americans did escape a complete disaster there.

With that being said though, the Americans only had Kiaskov for one season as they would move him to Davos the next off-season to recoup a 1st round draft pick.  He had a pretty successful season too with 76 points and 218 hits in 72 games and had an even more brilliant playoff run with 20 points and 27 hits in 11 playoff games, but would ultimately fall short of a Continental Cup victory.

The Quebec City Meute were looking to get a bit younger and while Kiaskov wasn't necessarily old, he was likely not really fitting the age group that Quebec City was looking to build around, and valuable assets do mean valuable returns.  Quebec would acquire a first round pick that had the potential of ending up in the lottery and a second round pick that had the chance to become a solid addition with how deep the draft was rumored to be.

That first round pick would end up at fifth overall and would see Quebec select Vesto Slipher, a player representing the well-known veteran Hybrid agency.  Slipher was a well-rounded and fairly disciplined winger but would play just four seasons in the VHL prior to retiring.  Slipher played two of those seasons in Quebec and finished his career with 243 career points in 288 games.

The interesting part of this deal may revolve around Alvara Jokinen, who was linked to the successful Ahma agency.  That being said, as many know, Ahma generally only likes his players to play on Davos, so having him as a member of a different team adds an interesting wrinkle to this move.  I honestly can't remember if a big stink came out of it or not, but Jokinen would get moved to Davos prior to him making it to the VHL and he would go on to play 432 career games and record 320 points as a defenseman over that span.

Verdict: Winner – Draw: Tough one but I lean to a draw.  Both got players that ultimately would either play no seasons with their team or played very few, and I feel like both got something of value out of it as well.  New York acquired a player that was really starting to improve considerably and had already hit the point per game mark in the VHL and while he only played a season in New York, he also had an incredible campaign including a dominant playoff performance.  Ultimately New York traded a 2nd round pick for one season of Kiaskov, as they would recoup that pick the very next season.  While I know I don't typically judge that way, this trade has some similar ties.  Quebec would acquire two picks and brought in two prospects that would ultimately end up having good careers.  With that being said, Slipher didn't have the longevity and only played a couple years on Quebec, while Jokinen likely forced a deal to Davos.  That being said, with Quebec having the ability to recoup assets on those moves, I feel like value wise this is still solid for them.  Makes this a pretty even trade in my book.

Spade18 reacted to Will3 in S88 VHLM Playoffs Round One Review
The first round of the S88 VHLM playoffs went by quickly. Basically everything I predicted came true. All of the contenders quickly swept away their opponents with only one team proving to be a brief challenge. We will review all of the action and highlighting the top performers of both teams. Its is time to paint a playoff picture.

    Mississauga Hounds vrs Miami Marauders
This series went exactly as expected. Miami didn't have enough players and it resulted in a sweep. But Miami didn't go down with out a fight, taking Game 2 into overtime and faling in the next one by only a goal. Leading the way for Miami was left winger Sergei Romanov @WithARevelYell with 3 goals and 1 assist. Also playing a strong supporting role was center Nick Sansoe @Tipskid97. His 4 assist tied him with Romanov in points. Of course  Mississauga was simply overwhelming especially with the brutal 7 - 1 mauling in Game 4. Leading the slaughter was right winger Mclean Hoover II @McLean Hoover. He has been a equal opportunity point producer with 4 goals and assist so far. Supporting this scoring has been defender YaBoi Oven @Doomsday. His 7 assist and lone goal has him tied with Hoover II in points. Mississauga will play Philadelphia in round 2.

    Philadelphia Reapers vrs Halifax 21st
This series is the one that dared to be different. Halifax would get a 3 - 0 win in game one. This would be the exception rather that the rule as Philadelphia would perform the gentleman sweep with a close win in Game 3 and a overtime win in Game 4.  For the 21st, the leading point producer was center Tullemore Dew @Spade18. He went a point per game with 3 goals and two assist. Right behind Dew on points was defender Harjen Van Araken @VaderTheTater. He has produced a goal and 3 assists for 4 points. Leading the way for the rising Reapers was center Anthony Simmons @Starchychaff. His 2 goals and 4 assist lead all Reapers in points. Behind Simmons is six players all at 4 points everyone of which have been impressive so far. Philadelphia will challenge Mississauga in the second round.

Mexico City Kings vrs Las Vegas Aces
The series was rigged from the start for the Aces. They were clearly overwhelmed. They would force Game 3 into overtime but they just  couldn't win that one. Leading  the scoring for the Aces was d defender Juan Ceson @dylanjj37 and center Ronald Johnson MacWallace III @RJMW. Both of the players produced the same stateline of 2 goals and an assist. Right winger Jeremia Barbaslov @Je Barbaslov set the table for the Aces with 3 assist. The Kings ruled this series which included a 9 - 0 conquest in Game 2. Leading the way for the Kings is unsurprisingly left winger Justin Williams @JCV. His 6 goals and 4 assist have him amoung the best in the VHLM. Right winger Carson Walker Jr @Cwalker is  right behind Williams with 4 goals and assist so far. Mexico City will scuffle with San Diego in Round 2.

San Diego Marlins vrs Houston Bulls
This sweep actually surprised me. I had expected Houston to challenge San Diego a bit more. The Bulls would force a triple overtime game that they lost. And while there was no stand out blowout, surf sweeps turf. Leading the heard for the Bulls was defender Tobias Weiss @jfaly. His 2 goals and 4 assist brand him as the best Bull. Fellow D man Eurydyka Sklodowska Dudzinska @diamond_ace followed right behind, going a point a game with 2 goals and assist.  The depth of the Marlins was too much for the Bulls and that shows in the leading scorer. Right winger Baby Moo Moo @Elvis has stepped up producing 4 goals and 3 assist. Behind Moo Moo are Marlins captin center Sjin @Mint and Defender Marty Byrd @Marty B with 6 points each. The Marlins are locked in combat against the Kings for the second round.

And that is my review of round one of S88 VHLM playoffs. No matter if you have won or not, give yourself a pat on the back. I will do a quick preview and prediction of the second round as a supplemental article to be produced later today. That is all I have to say. Good luck everyone.

    This is the big thing.

    Is it bad precedent: yes.

    Is it horrible: yes.

But think of why it happened. It happened because 10 000 people, who will be voters for the first time very soon, showed up on the doorstep and demanded change. Do you know how hard it is to get 10 000 teenagers to all show up politically to anything? The republicans have been banking on that apathy for decades, knowing their seats are safe because the youth don’t vote and the people that do vote will vote for them.

Well those people who couldn’t vote and have instead been fed to the wolves so that the state representatives can be paid by the NRA are angry and they are organized. Kicking out representatives that offer a voice to the other side is a morally incomprehensible move that is made out of fear. They are terrified because that youth vote that they were so confident would never come just walked up to their front door.

This is not an ending, this is a beginning.
