I dont think anything is necessary at this point. Give him some time and if I have to, I will go there via FA. I really dont think he is as terrible as he is made out as. The first season was bad with all the rentals, but since then he hasnt been horrible.

    Busy Week For Slaughter

Season 37 Entry Draft top prospect Tom Slaughter had a very busy week after a successful off-season. The second year VHLM winger was lucky to be picked up by the Ottawa Lynx close to the end of Season 35. The Lynx were an extremely talented team and Slaughter graciously was able to learn from a number of key VHLM verterans last season. Due to the VHLM waiver system, the winger was released by the champions and subsequently drafted by the Bratislava Watchmen second overall.

"It was a whirlwind few months for me. It was a lot to learn and now I feel like I've landed in ane even better spot than I had last season. I seriously think our team in Bratislava has a great chance at winning the Founder's Cup this season. To have the top four draft picks in the first round just puts you at such a huge advantage. We have the best defenceman, forward and goalie in this draft class so I am really excited," Slaughter said.

Slaughter should be excited for good reason as he stands a good chance of becoming one of the few players ever in the history of the VHLM to win successive Founder's Cup championsips with two different teams. Slaughter also stands no chance of playing in the minors again after this season as the forward has surpased the practice hour limit for a VHLM player. Slaughter will be drafted by a VHL team and will start his career in the league immediately afterward. Thus it is important for him to get some much needed training and experience this season. The matter of where Slaughter will go is still up in the air, but it seems likely that the winger will be going to one of two teams.

"I apparently have a decent shot of going to either Riga or New York at this point. Both seem like nice franchises. I'd like a chance to play with Slaeter Fjorsstrom again in the VHL. He's a talented guy and a great teammate. If we make it onto the same roster I have to think we'll be a powerful team. With that said, I'm open to playing for any team in the league," the winger said.

Before the season began Slaughter had an opportunity to visit both Riga and New York's team facilities as set up by his player agent Sterling Labatte. The winger got an icy reception upon visiting Riga's locker room, making the player question whether Riga would be an ideal place to play. New York on the other hand is quiet interested in acquiring Slaughter. "Yeah, New York's attitude seems to be that of a winning team. I think those guys have a great future, I'd love to be a part of it. We'll see what happens. I'll be happy with a competetive team and good teammates," Slaughter said.

With the draft over and a tough off-season of intense training, Slaughter was ready to hit the ice. After two games to start the season and no points it seems like the winger may not be living up to the standards of his hype. "Just some bad luck, I played a lot of minutes in this games and got some quality shots on net, but I was squeezing the stick too much I suppose. I'm confident I'll have a solid year and we'll win a lot of games. What matters is we won twice," Slaughter said.

This week will be a free week, post in here to claim. This can also be retroactively claimed in case some members have been lost.

Also, please create a new update page for your player in your team update page forum and provide us with the best possible estimate of your TPE and attributes set for the start of S35. I trust everyone to be honest.

I think you are misunderstanding my idea. You can get a quote for the cost of something before you make a sale. So you'd email or call the company that does custom jerseys. (I found several when I did a google search a few weeks back) You ask them what prices would be for various amounts of custom jerseys, get your pricing in...and then we mark up the price of the jersey by a percentage before we pitch to sell it to the members. Then any member who wants a custom made jersey will agree to pay in advance, we get all the money for the jerseys' including our mark up which is essentially donations/profit and then buy the jerseys for the members who want them. Simple as that.

Yes, you should make the rosters big enough so that teams have to pass when the draft is ending. I would personally like to see teams play with three full lines.

    Apathy Central

This is my first media spot in a long time and with it I want to bring to you some important information. There is a real sense of apathy taking over our fine league. What does apathy mean you might ask? It means people don't give a fuck. Unfortunately this is one guy who does give a fuck about the VHL and with it I want this culture to leave. We can do better than this, can't we?

It recently came to my attention that one of the VHLM Commish's claimed TPE for a job he hasn't done since the new site launched. In fact, the VHLM has been as inactive as humanly possible because neither of the TWO people hired to run the league have been doing sweet fuck all since we moved sites. Now I understand the site switch was an unexpected pain in the ass and all, but it's not like the league lost much in terms of content. We lost a lot of spirit and energy though, enough for me to ask what's the point of running this thing?

There are also graphics that have been waiting for grades for up to two weeks now from what I have been told. What the shit is that? Last time I checked, there were people looking for jobs in the league were there not? Hire some of them to start getting things going. Graders and commishes need to do their job and from what I've seen as of late, neither have been doing much of anything. Sure, it's a volunteer thing, I understand that. That's why I stepped down, because after six years of keeping this thing running I wanted to sit back and relax finally. Now what I'm seeing just pisses me off to no end.

My team over in Calgary has three pages of posts in the S35 discussion forum. Now maybe I was the asshole that showed up and pissed everyone off enough to just quit the team or maybe my team has just given up. That's a damn shame because we have a quality roster that likely would have been a contender had we had some active members and active leadership. I haven't heard anything from our General Manager all season, I can only assume that he doesn't give a fuck like the rest of you.

    Y'all need to be better.

Perhaps I care too much about the league and I should just shut up and let people lead. My problem is I don't see much leadership going on around here. We need some new recruits, we need some active forums, we need active General Managers for Christ's sake. We need games simmed every day! So if you care about the league you may just have to join me and start lighting fires under people's asses. I've been saying this for a while now and to me, it seems to be getting worse. If you have some time, take up a job around here and get people involved. We need someone to start serious work on recruiting and retaining new members. No one wants to stay in a league that's dead and right now I think that is our biggest issue. Breath some life into this apathetic mess, please!

    This is the End

Well my friends, it's been a long, fun journey on the VHL Mag, but my time has come and gone. There are people who can infuse a little more piss and vinegar into this piece. I've been doing it for a long time, I don't even know how long. I think I joined the magazine back around edition 77, but I can't remember now and when that is the case, it's time to let go and try something new. I've done most of the jobs in the league now, but there is something else I'm sure I can do now. I've mentioned a few times that I've never missed a point task on this site in the 6+ years I've been here and because of that, I'm tired of writing. I'm tired of writing this piece every week.

It's a lot of fun to give your opinion week in and week out, but it takes a lot to come up with something new every week for you. I've done it so many times now, my schtick has grown old. Now most people simply see me as that arrogant twat that tells them what to do (if they bother to read this, which they don't). On the forums I also get combative with people because I'm an asshole that tells people how it is. There's a new generation here in the league though that haven't really been through everything. They have new ideas, which is great. I think we need more people with fresh ideas around this place.

I took over this opinion piece from Robbie Zimmers who did a terrible job. Often times people couldn't even read what he wrote and often times his many rants made little to no sense. There was no one editing his grammar or spelling and it just looked like shit. I'm certainly not as interesting as Robbie because I try to make sense with what I write and I try not to insult people. I do respect the precedent he set with this article though. A lot of people tuned into the magazine to see what his sloppy piece was about, what new low he had sunk to that week. It was funny, it was interesting and it was controversial. He pissed people off and didn't care.

A few good conversations have started from some of my articles and even a few changes have been implemented to the league based on what I've written (or ranted about). That is the job of this piece. To question what's going on in the league and how we can improve. This league has made a lot of changes, and positive ones at that, over the years, but we can't stop. We need to recruit more people. Things are too complacent around here right now. We need some fire back into the league Hopefully the person who takes over will be able to provide that. I'll be reading.

At this time it would be appropriate to thank all of the folks who have read my articles over the past few years and enjoyed them. I hope I was able to at least make you crack a smile. I've never taken this league seriously, I just keep going because other people get enjoyment out of it. I've never meant to hurt anyone's real life feelings with anything I've ever said. Now that this is over, I can go back to my peaceful existence of non-influence. Sometimes the bleachers are the best place to be. Good luck magazine, you'll be great just like you've always been and thanks for so many years of amazing work and the opportunity to say stupid shit.
