Because the VHL is turning 15 this fine year of our lord two thousand and twenty two I found it fitting to review the top members that have entered this mortal world after the Victory Hockey League.
 
4. @Dil. Dil is a young member of the league and has been on a mission to tear it into the ground. However, his anti-fascist rhetoric has been a great benefit in the moderation world. If the young Dil had not become a mod, I don't think they'd be doing a lot in the league at this time, as true VHL boomers will remember when I was named his replacement as Halifax GM because he was THAT BAD (nothing else). Dil's most notable league additions have been his dedication to standing against the many VHL leaders that are literal neo-nazis. Thanks Dil! I rate Dil 15/15 years.
 
3. @MinionSpeaking of Halifax GMs! This member was my successor in the lovely land of Halifax General Managering if you disregard the current GM (I do). The most notable move they made was literally trading a first for a second and seventh. An amazing trade that has stood up amongst the pillars of this community, such as Shawn Glade's self trade and trade down for 2 worse picks, or rory's Jeffrey Pines to Vancouver for a second. The greatest parts of Minion have always been his VHL discord contributions and I must assume he has continued them since I have left the nazi recruitment center of VHL general. I rate minion 13/15.
 
2. @MexicanCow123. MarxistCow123 is a true VHL legend for his dedication that he has shown to the league that is literally older then him. For his work being a stellar Yukon Rush GM (only VHL boomers remember the YUKON RUSH!), the most active and accurate updater, and his most recent work as general manager of the New York Americans. He also has a hall of famer coming in Jerome Reinhart! MarxistCow's always stood to their guns and kept the cap equal amongst all teams (the 1 team he traded with 3-4 times a season), and for that I rate him a solid 13/15 years.
 
1. @Josh. This young man has been such an amazing contributor to VHL! For their work as a developer, creating the VHL portal at the rife age of 10, Josh deserves all of the accolades. Adding on his amazing work as my first ever majors General Manager (shit, he made me do all the work after like 3 seasons), and Commissioner (also shit), this member is such an easy top 4 members that the VHL is older then. One thing I'd like to see more from Josh is more playing rocket league with me and not abandoning the raft game from like last year with muff. Josh is the sole reason we have not played and I refuse to believe otherwise. All of this being said, I think Josh is a solid 11/15 years and I'm going to come to Winnipeg and make him play ghost hunter with me so I can sit in the van all day.

I just want add that It wasn't necessarily that trade thread. It was just the constant comment after comment that weighed on me. The hate just didn't stop, it was in DMs, on the fourms, Gen chat. Every where i looked I saw hate, not just this season but throughout my whole VHL GM career. 

Earlier this week @MexicanCow123 announced he was stepping down as the GM of the New York Americans, and seemingly taking a major step out of the VHL community as a whole. He cited community toxicity as the major reason he's taking his leave. I've known Cow for a couple years now, and he is by far the person I am closest with in the entire community. I feel like I know him on a more personal level than most. While I would argue that Cow doesn't have very "thick skin" sometimes, and I'd also argue that part of him just has lost interest in VHL and he was just looking for a reason to validate leaving. BUT, with that being said, I do think he has a point. There's a ton of toxicity in the community. For me personally, there's a small handful of people I enjoy bantering with, but outside of that, I don't find myself as enticed to mingle with the community as much as I used to when I first got into the league. I am pretty fortunate to have my player on a great team in the VHL with people that are all very enjoyable, so that's a blessing in disguise for me.  But, others aren't as lucky I suppose. 
 
People clown on Cow, and more specifically the New York American franchise for it's longtime lack of success. While it's true NYA has been subpar for quite sometime, I don't think Cow deserves much of that blame, and I think he did his best to turn it around. Here's hoping Fresco can pick up where Cow left off and get the Americans to a better place. It's weird because despite their record this season, I feel like they were coming along quite well as of late.  Cow I'm not sure exactly to what extent you are stepping back from the community, but just know you were a generally well-liked and important fixture in the community. As you continue to mature, try not letting petty and small things get to you. All the best bud. 

I have always thought highly of Cow as a member. He brings a lot to the community, great with sim schedules and just an easy going guy to talk to. I would have loved to have a drink with him if he was in my remote area. Jokes about the New York franchise are one thing, but some of the personal jabs at the job Cow was doing have definitely gone too far. He started to rebuild, didn’t work out so he stepped back to try it again. This is not a way we should be treating one of our valued members, who has never harmed anyone.
 
I hope you still stay in the league with your player and as a simmer Cow. I value you, buddy!

You don't deserve any hate there. You have made NY a place where I would want to play, where I think everyone was treated equally and had fun as a team. 
 
To people who made this happen - you are awful, we are somehow a "fun" community BUT only for some! I wish you would see reason but then again I know who you are and heck, VHL would be a ton better if you would leave this place.

I've seen a lot of hate around the league lately, more-so than I usually see. Some bickering, some people stepping over some lines, you name it. I've got to say, it's depressing honestly. I can't sit here and be a saint, my past is what it is, but I've left it just there, in the past. I haven't been part of any type of 'drama' for quite a while and honestly it's allowed me to enjoy the most out of this league, but lately I have to say, I'm so annoyed with the drama that is allowed to unfold in the league its baffling to me. It seems like the narrative switches so quick, when certain people are involved, it's deemed okay and 'just a joke' but when others are involved it's suddenly a big deal and a big problem. The divide is felt more than ever also, and this childish behaviour needs to just stop. This community, while never having been 'perfect' has seen better days for sure, and the very clear lack of direction towards a more 'positive' presence like is so commonly referenced is just the beginning in my mind. If this kind of stuff continues, it's only going to get worse, it needs to be put to bed before it continues.
