1. Which of these franchises made the conference finals for the first time in S78?
Prague has finally done it, having had a pretty bad streak of failing to win a playoff game for a while, then only being victorious in the wildcard round. Is this the start of a new Phantom era, a late blossoming of the expansion franchise? We'll have to see - Prague's expansion rivals D.C. broke their duck in S75 but haven't been back to the conference finals since. LA made it that far in just 1 playoff appearance to date meaning London, despite being a more consistent playoff team, is now the only franchise which has failed to make it past round 1.
 
2. What is the highest number of penalty shots faced by a Hall of Fame goaltender? (Credit and 1 uncapped TPE to @okochastar)
215 which is the number Tuomas Tukio achieved in his career as per Corco's spreadsheet here: https://vhlforum.com/topic/347-vhl-career-stats-updated-for-s77/
He's only beaten by Toronto's CPU and Finn Davison, neither of whom are in the Hall of Fame.

1.) To be quite honest with you, no I have not been keeping up at all. My primary attention has been directed toward the EFL where I'm managing a franchise for the first year ever, then the SBA as my secondary league to see how awful my regressed player is doing. This is my side league if you catch my drift.
 
2.) Who's Kankunnen? Our backup goaltender? We still have Tonn right, don't we?
 
3.) I'll ship 50% of my salary toward my family in Iceland as they prepare to sell their third-generation home and move toward a simpler humbode in Reyjkavik so they can be more accessible for me across the water. 
 
4.) Nousianen is a good one I'd give him that. He's been a model of consistency and production for us all this time. I'm not sure who else would be worthy of the C or the A patch on their jersey. Maybe that'll be me a few years down the road.
 
5.) I think it would be the raccoon. Raccoons take whatever they want and if you aren't looking, they'll steal all the booze from underneath your nose! They're nocturnal too, so they could last the entire night. 
 
6.) I think that elephants would be the most interesting to listen to since they're really smart and stuff. Most boring would probably be the sloth 'cause it'd take them a hour to complete a sentence. But from the movie Zootopia, they're apparently speedsters when placed behind the driver's wheel of a car lol. Rudest, definitely goldfish. Their memory span is like 7 seconds, so our conversations would basically be redunant every 7 seconds. No thanks.

Many of you have looked at the number of players in both the VHLM and VHL, and wondered how the heck is that going to work? Many of you have hypothesized, incorrectly, that VHL Expansion is coming down the tunnel. Unfortunately, constant expansion is not a sustainable model, so the @BOG has looked at more creative ways to deal with the roster crunches that are forthcoming. Given that we are currently seeing a landscape where teams are struggling to fit players there are two strategies that will be implemented, effective immediately:
 
1) Inactive Restricted List
Starting with S78, teams will only be allowed to carry one Inactive player, of their choice, on their roster for the duration of a full season. Any other player deemed inactive, as of the VHLM TPE Cutoff date, will be placed on the Inactive Restricted List for the duration of their contract, and may not be activated until they have completed a TPE Update in the portal.
 
For the purposes of the Inactive Restricted List, players will be deemed inactive if they hold 0 TPE Updates between the most recent Trade Deadline and the VHLM TPE Cutoff Date (i.e. For S78, that would mean no TPE updates after April 18th through May 16th).
 
Any player activated from the Inactive Restricted List would have their full salary count against the Salary Cap, in the same way a VHLM Recall would work. Players may be traded while on the Inactive Restricted List, but cannot be activated without a new TPE Update. Once a player has been activated, they may be traded with the same salary retention rules in Section 6.5 - Trading Salaries.
 
2) Salary Cap for S78
One other way to free up some room for teams to operate is that we are re-instating a 2 tiered Salary Cap for S78, to be revisited following the season.
 
Soft Cap = $40M
Hard Cap = $45M
 
What this means is that, the $40M cap will operate as normal, with the roster minimum remaining at 6 Players. However, if a team would like to surpass the $40M cap, they have the ability to spend to $45M while icing a minimum roster consisting of 12 skaters and 1 goalie. The Back-up goalie exemption, up to $2M, will still apply.

Congratulations to everyone for another fantastic season and a special congratulations to the Seattle Bears for winning the S77 Continental Cup! As always, with the season past, all VHL players have earned some more experience. 
 
How to Claim
Claim experience in the Player Management area by clicking the 'CLAIM OFF-SEASON TPE' button and selecting Experience from the dropdown. Enter the amount of Experience you are eligible for as described below and link to this thread.
 
Once approved, the Experience will be added directly to your player's experience attribute. You do not need to apply it yourself. 
 
NOTE: YOU CAN NOT CARRY OVER EXPERIENCE POINTS EARNED BY A RETIRED PLAYER ONTO A RECREATE

Full VHL Season - 5 Points
Partial VHL Season - 2 points (Less than 72 GP in VHL, unless due to a trade)
Playoffs - 2 Points
Finals - 1 Point

Example: Timoth Brown played for Seattle. He gets 5 for a full season, 2 for playoffs, and 1 for finals.

The green team was going to announce this but seeing as they are busy I get to do the honours.
 
It’s been discussed a few times now that the Kings have a slightly problematic logo. It was never the intention of the league to be insensitive but that has occurred a bit in this case and it was decided to it would be best to rectify that situation. Therefore, going into S78, the kings will have a new logo! The @BOG, @Commissioner, and @VHLM Commissioner  teams discussed the matter over the last couple of weeks and @Sonnet found a great option for us that needed only mInor tweaking. 
 
The team name and location remain unchanged but the crest itself is getting an upgrade. Therefore I am proud to present to you the new and improved Mexico City Kings!
 

 
This logo retains a lot of their original Red / White / Black colour scheme but with a pop of gold and a more “traditional” king look with the armour and crown. It also features the undead king, paying homage to both the day of the dead and to the concept that was brought forth for a rebrand a little while ago.
 
While the kings failed to make the playoffs this season we hope this new logo will lead them into a bigger and brighter future.

Fifteen games into the season, it looks like the London United are finally reaching the big time. Their 9-4-2 record is good for fourth place in the European Conference, a mere 2 points behind Prague for first. London also boasts the conference's most potent offense,scoring 3.8 goals per game. Perhaps the most surprising storyline out of London this season, however, is who is driving the offense.
 
Second line center Julian Nousiainen has 26 points in those 15 games, good for second in league scoring. The two-way pivot's 14 goals also pace the league. Blueliner and team captain Kasper Kankkunen is second on the squad with 23 points.
 
Winger The Terrible Trivium, who has long been the offensive face of the United franchise, has nothing but praise for his teammates. "They're both stepping up in a big way. With Kasper, I think getting the C this year gave him a huge confidence boost. And Nous has been a madman out there. I've been on his wing lately and he's making it easy to rack up some assists. He's maybe the smartest hockey IQ guy on the team and always seems to know where to be."
