Greg_Di got a reaction from Steve in Eagles first playoffs in the VHLM
Greg Eagles will participate in his first ever playoffs in the VHLM in his first season. Coming into the league, he didn't expect to be a starter in the VHLM or even playing in the playoffs but that all changed when he was drafted by the Marlins. The Marlins were very ambitious and put together an amazing group of players. In just a few days, Eagles will be on the ice with this team-mates vying for the VHLM Cup.
It has been an up and down first season for the goalie but he played exceptionally well as a newcomer. He finished the season with 39 wins, 5th overall in save % with a .900 and 5th overall in GAA with a 2.61. Those are pretty decent stats.
" I have been happy with how I played, a lot of it has been down to the great team in front of me but if you told me that I would have these stats as a rookie in this new league, I probably wouldn't have believed you" Said Eagles
We will now see if Eagles can improve on those stats heading into the playoffs versus a dangerous Halifax team

Greg_Di reacted to Josh in TPE VHLM Cap incorrect?
The refactor that was done on some of the player stuff might have caused this. I'll take a look tonight.

Greg_Di reacted to InstantRockstar in Au Revoir
Did I scare you? Good. I'm not here to announce I am leaving, don't worry. Rather, closing a chapter in my GM career I always hate to do, saying goodbye to those leaving for various reasons, whether it be to their respective VHL teams or going into the draft next season. In San Diego, we made it a mission to keep our players as happy as we could from start to finish of their careers with us, and the following players we're sadly losing after the playoffs:
Lincoln Tate
Edgar Tannahill*
Phil Marleau
Greg Eagles
Pierre Persson
Rhys Chism
Ryszard Franciszek
Andrej Petrovic
Charles Drumm
Dalton Wilcox
Sean McGee
When you look at this list, you think...wow. San Diego is going to be a whole different team next season, and sadly we are. I do have questions if Edgar (Greggreg) will be going up as he's not been all that active sadly and hasn't updated in ages, which could be a good thing for us, but maybe also a bad thing? If he comes back, he's 100% gone. As for the others, in one way or another, whether being called up or going into the draft, we're losing a lot of the guys that were able to make history for us. They've had the absolute pleasure of making history here, and I've had the pleasure of GMing and coaching every single one. They've been nothing but a pleasure to spend time with through this season, and I'm genuinely going to miss having you all on our team. One team, one dream, always a Marlin ❤️

Greg_Di got a reaction from Phil in Wroclaw Times - Marlins second half melt-down [1/2]
Marlins going through a mini losing streak
Marlins going through a mini losing streak
As the Marlins sat in their quiet locker room after yet another loss, even some of the more experienced players in the room were hard pressed to explain the sudden down-turn in play from everyone on the team. It didn’t seem to make sense for the players or anyone else in the organization.
A strong start in the early season had the league turning their heads but a second half slump has the Marlins dropping down to 6th overall in the standings.
“ I don’t know what has happened, the bounces just aren’t going our way and we seem to be wracking up the losses at a higher pace,” Said Goalie Greg Eagles, “ A lot of the times you get the luck, bounces go your way, you’re working hard and it pays off. We’re doing our best but its hard to explain what has changed. We need to turn it around and head into the playoffs on a more positive note”
Asked by our reporter if the Marlins had used up all their luck in the first half of the season and on their way to clinching a playoff spot, Eagles looked up, thought about it for a second and nodded his head “Possibly but I believe in this group and everyone in this locker room believes in this group. Don’t sleep on us in the playoffs, we will bounce back”
The goalie explained one more thing that has been the most important item for the Marlins all season long and that has been echoed by every player “ We have done an amazing job of sticking together and helping each other out. A lot of people dismiss this fact but you will see how we respond in the playoffs”
As he sat in his stall, a frustrated Phil Marleau was saying similar things to our reporters
“Obviously, we have a great group of guys and guys that really care” he said “ We’re capable of doing it and we all know how we can play”
Lincoln Tate also chipped in “ We just have to find a way and get through it, we have to find a way to bring all our skills together and play well offensively and defensively. Play well all over the ice”
Tate also said that effort wasn’t the issue
“We try, we all want to do better, we all want to win” Said Tate “ But sometimes the harder you try, the worse it gets. We just have to get back to simple hockey, the way we were playing earlier”
Marlins taking locker room interviews
As we were leaving the dressing room Greg Eagles stopped us and said one more thing
“ This Organization from top to bottom, this group of players, its all about this team collectively” He explained “ It always has been and that is why we are all in this together. The GM has been great in putting this team together and making some significant deals at the deadline. We all get along and we all help each other out. This is why we won at the beginning of the year and this is why we are going to win in the playoffs….mark my words”
We all here at the Wroclaw Times hope for the best as the season slowly starts to wind down. We hope the Marlins can regroup and show the league what they really are made of

Introducing VSN Draft Insider | Sully Sullvino
VHL News
According to sources, the Victory Sports Network has agreed to terms with VHL Draft expert and insider, Sully Sullvino, who has spent the past five years working for TSN. The signing is part of a league-wide effort by the VHL to grow league content and coverage. Sullvino will use his years of draft and prospect coverage to provide the community with exclusive draft-related content. Here's the statement from the man himself.
"Obviously looking forward to this opportunity here at VSN. I think the direction of the VSN is changing and I am happy to be apart of it. I look forward to providing the VHL community with relevant content on a weekly basis and interact with the community for new ideas in the future. For me, draft coverage, prospect analysis comes second nature so I look forward to bringing it to the VHL platform."
While nothing is set in stone, in our brief sit down with Sullvino he mentioned that the community can expect the following type of articles to be produced in the future:
Season 67 Top-3 by Position Analysis (goaltenders the only position left) Multi-part extensive Season 67 Mock Draft Season 67 Updated Sleeper Report Early looks into the Season 68 class Risers and Fallers Interviews with Draft Prospects New Player/Member Reports and Projections Draft Lookbacks "Through the Wire" - In-depth profiles on mid-season VHLM waiver/free agency moves And more...
As mentioned above - all suggestions are welcome and make sure to check out the VSN page soon!

Greg_Di got a reaction from gorlab in Eagles get's new mask
Earlier today Greg Eagles showcased his new mask that he will wear for the playoffs.
" I wanted something new, something interesting for the playoffs so I went out and commissioned a new mask" Said Eagles. " I based it off one of the SD Barracuda masks, I think it will look great with our team jerseys"
While Eagles did not have has mask yet as it was being worked on, our reporters received a first hand look of what it would look like. It will be very similar to this mask with the mask saying "MARLINS" instead of "Barracuda".
It is definitely an interesting choice for Eagles who may be playing his first and only season in San Diego depending on what happens in the draft next season. Greg Eagles mentioned to us that after the playoffs the mask will be signed and auctioned off to help support young hockey players in the San Diego area. We think this is great on Greg to try and help out and get more kids into hockey.
We hope this mask brings Eagles and the team luck during the playoffs!

Greg_Di got a reaction from Matt_O in VHL DebateTable: Discord vs Forums
I am more of a forum guy, while yeah I do love Discord, I just unfortunately do not have the time to hang out on discord with Work/Family/Other commitments. On the forum I can quickly pop on during work and contribute to some conversations which I cannot do with Discord (while at work).
They both work well and both are assets to the community.
For the bot problem, just make a separate channel for bot commands (stats) and disable it everywhere else (if Discord can do that)

Greg_Di reacted to InstantRockstar in Highlighting Some Marlins History Makers
While everyone on the Marlins technically is setting records as the first ever team for this franchise, there are a few players that stick out among the rest, and we're here to break it down for you to see what the team is looking like with 12-ish games left in the season.
First Captain: Phil Marleau
Phil was voted in by his teammates by a near unanimous decision, even with Greg giving him the nod.
Most Points: Lincoln Tate
This is honesty so impressive to me, while his point total isn't enormous, he switched positions and has been the best waiver acquisition I believe in the league.
Most Goals: Edgar Tannahill
While Chism is ahead of Tannahill, Chism was a late-season acquisition and will also technically hold this title, but Tannahill has been a Marlin since day one, and thus he'd get the "official" nod.
Most Assists: Lincoln Tate
I told you, best waiver acquisition and he shows why. Tate is leading the team in assists and points and has been first star many times, amazing player right here!
There are many more awards that will be given out, things may even change with the remaining games left but regardless, it's been a fun ride. I'm surely having fun as GM of the team and it seems like all the players on the Marlins are having fun too. Can't wait to see what happens with the following seasons under my reign.
