The Prauge Phantoms. Born in season 68, they’ve been an exciting team to watch, although they’ve had limited success, the town still loves to watch the team play. They haven't been around very long, but a lot of faces have come and gone, some fan favourites have retired, and some are still in the league but on other teams, but one thing is for sure, once a phantom, always a phantom.

 

 

They’re a lot of players who are remembered fondly in Prague, so I’m gonna do a top 6 and top 4 breakdown with some honourable mentions to be fair. 
 

 

First line

 

RW-Thomas Landry @Doomsday

 

Landry is becoming an absolute stud for Prague, and just signed a massive extension, basically committing to the team for the entirety of his career. He’s a strong power forward, a terrific sniper, and one of the best teammates in the league. He will forever be remembered in Prague, and I excpect his number to someday be retired next to Pearson’s. 
 

 

C- Alex Pearson

 

Pearson has been a lifelong Phantom, he’s been a solid top 6 forward for them in his entire career, serving as captain twice, and providing key offence in his prime seasons. His fast paced, shoot first style of hockey has captured fans of Prague for almost a decade, and helped push the phantoms into popularity in Prague.

 

 

LW-Blake Laughton

 

Blake was a very efficient power forward in his 359 Games with the phantoms, he never was a huge offensive force, but he gave it 100% night in and night out, and came back to Prague to finish his career after a year in Helsinki.

 

 

Second Line

 

RW- Ondrej Ohradka @animal74

 

Acquired in a trade for Willie dredge, He head been a very effective playmaker. His career has really excelled in Prague, and he’s proven he can be a dominant forward and leader in the VHL

 

C-Roll Fizzlebeef @TacticalHammer

 

The Veteran forward was acquired for three seasons and was a terrific addition as a veteran. He helped Prague to the playoffs two out of his three seasons. He Will definitely not be forgotten despite his short time in Prague. 
 

LW -Ben Mcgirr @Grape

 

He was a very strong two-way forward, but he was very valuable, in his later seasons he’s managed to score a lot. He has very good vison and hockey sense. He was a bit of a reach when he was picked but had worked out in spades for the phantoms.

Defenceman

 

Defence has often been the strength of the phantoms for their entire existence, so this was a hard list to pick from. They’ve always had at least 3 very very solid defensemen in their lineup. 

 

 

Wolf Stansson Jr  @Cornholio

 

The Strong Two way defensemen has been terrific for his entire career with the phantoms. He’s always been a team first player, and it looks like he s going to retire a phantom. I would not b surprised to see his name next to Pearson’s in the rafters.

 

Seabass Perrin @Seabass

 

A terrific Defensive minded back end stalwart. He was a shot blocking a hitting machine for many years on that phantom blueline. Known as a terrific teammate, he was a also a very fun to watch, he never took a game off, hitting hard and often, and also not afraid to lake the large slap shots.

he is definitely missed in Prauge

 

Cinnamon Block @omgitshim

One of the most underrated defencemen in the league, she has been terrific for the entirety of her career, the former first overall selection is fantastic at both ends of the ice, she is one of the best at stick snd poke checking. But she’s also terrific at making long passes out of their own end, (Andrei Markov Esc). She has been terrific a phantom and seems happy, if she keeps her level of play consistent for her career she will continue to be the teams best player. 
 

 

Gert B Forbe @NumberJ5

 

The once feared enforcer on the phantoms blueline. He would hit, fight, and occasionally score, all while providing to be a defensive stalwart on that defensive core. He has since moved on to Warsaw, But Hess still a solid bottom pairing defencemen nonetheless.

Goaltenders

 

Goaltending is the most parity position in the league. You can have a good team and win a cup with an average goaltender, but you won’t even make it to the playoffs with a bad one.

 

Prauge hasn’t had many faces in net, but have seem to have found their starter for the foreseeable future in Woody McPine. They’ve drafted 2 failed prospects, and one semi successful trade for a goalie, but now it seems like finally have some stability at the position, something that has hindered them for years. 
 

Brick Wahl @BladeMaiden

 

As his name suggests, Brick wahl was a Brick Wall for his entire career. He was terrific in Calgary for many seasons, manning the net and almost dragging them to a cup once, before eventually being traded to Prague as a Vet. He responded by putting forward two of the best season of his career. In his last year he was easily the best goalie in the league that year, posting an insane 

931. save percentage and a 1.97 Goals against average. He won the award for league MVP And best goalie of the year, forever cementing himself as a legend among Phantoms fans and Players.

 

 

Woody McPine @HearnNation67

 

The young netminder does not have many games under his belt, but he’s slowly proving he can’t be a force in this league, taking over the starting job from Virgil Ligriv last season, he showed people why he is the future face of goaltending in Prague pretty easily. He is athletic, A great teammate and is not afraid to get a little aggressive with players when they enter his crease. Watch his career in the coming years as he could be a star.

And with that end my breakdown of Prague’s dream team. Would this team win a cup? Probably not, they’ve only been in the league 7 seasons so they havn't had a lot of alumni yet, but GM Jason Glasser had done a terrific job building his core and I’m sure we are all excited to watch this team take the next step with their exciting prospects and young players.

      Seventeen year old Ryan Ryker has always been obsessed with hockey. He was born in Banff Alberta, and has always found a way to play. He played peewee for years and was a star, being followed by amature scouts his whole young career, he even played a few games for his highschool hockey team before signing in the BCHL. 

 

When Ryker was 15 he signed as one of the youngest players ever to play in the BCHL. His main weaknesses were his backcheck, skating and his hitting. In spite of this, His BCHL Coach Allen Summers, signed Ryker up for figure-skating,much to Ryan’s displeasure. Although after 2 months with a professional figure skating coach, Ryker watched himself go from a weak skater to the best skater on the team. And it showed in the results, His first season was a complete success. Scoring 32 goals and 27 assists in 41 Games to lead the team in scoring. He also has 78 hits and 33 blocked shots. He was a terrific , dynamic two way scoring forward that a lot of scouts have been watching for a long time.  In the summer, his uncle, a former rink attendant for the Vancouver Canucks, Introduced him to former Canucks Inforcer Derek Dorsett, Ryker trained with Dorsett in the offseason and Dorsett helped Ryker work on his defensive play and checking, and it had shown to help him immensely.
 

 

The following season when he was 16 he opted to play in the WHL with the Kamloops blaze era. He had a bit of a hard time adapting to the atmosphere of the bigger ice and arena but he slowly improved with the team as the season went along, he has 25 goals and 30 assists in 63 games, followed by a terrific playoff preformance of 13 goals and 4 assists in 15 games, only for the blazers to lose in the final to Portland. He was named the rookie of the year in the WHL, but he then stated how much he disliked the league due to the frat-boy mentality across the young players in the league. So he contacted his agent and decided to cut ties with the WHL and explore other options. He mulled going back to the BCHL but he felt he was too mature, he mulled the QMJHL but decided he didn’t wanna move to quebec or the maritimes because he couldn’t speak French. 

 

After weeks of exploring options and being a free agent, Ryker decided  he would be declaring for the VHLM, and ended up Signing his rookie contract with the Houston bulls a few days later. With a majority of his family from the Texas area, it was an easy choice to pick Houston, even though there were other teams he was leaning twords. The team is currently last in the league but Ryker has been making important strides on that team, he’s currently the offensive leader and the straw that stirs the drink in teams of goals. Ryker said his future is up in the air but his number one goal is make it to the VHL. 

For almost a decade, Alex Pearson has been a staple on the Prague phantoms roster. He’s been the team captain twice, and an alternate in all but one of his seasons, he’s a born leader and the heart and soul of the team. 
 

 

After this current season, Pearson said he plans to retire. He has played all career games in a phantom uniform, he was one of the first picks in their inaugural expansion draft. He was drafted as a fast, high scoring flashy sniping forward, but ended up being a more smart, well rounded scoring playmaker once he transferd his game to the VHL. This season has been a different role for Pearson, as he’s taking on the third line Center/Teaching role in the team. He stays late in practice more then once, showing the youngsters how to win faceoffs and forecheck, something he has been skilled at his entire career. 
 

The phantoms are a divided team in terms of age, they have a lot of young players coming up to form the new core, and we’re starting to watch the old core fall apart. Pearson has expressed his excitement in the young players coming up. 
“I think we’re in really good shape, we have young talented prospects like John Leclair II, RKG, Dan Baille Jr and the players in the minors like The Blob, TJ St Louis, Secel Kellar and a few others, they’re all really skilled, and I think Woody McPine is a star in the making, even though it’s my last season I feel like the next few years we’re gonna be a really, Really good team. Jason has done a Terrific job.”

 

The phantoms are in a bit of a core shift this season, but they’ve been in a bit of a a hot streak recently as they hope to climb into the playoffs and continue to compete.

The newest member of the Jayrad Player agency, Ryan Ryker, has signed a 1 year VHLM entry level deal with the Houston Bulls. 
 

It came as a surprise to a lot of GM’s, and Houston’s GM and The agency were relatively unfamiliar with eachother, but still managed to reach a deal. But there may have been some underlying factors besides the team itself that persuaded Ryker to choose Houston.

 

 

“Honestly at first I was gonna sign with Sam Diego. It was really close, but The Bulls GM made a terrific pitch, and I have a lot of extended family from Houston I never see, and I love the city. There’s really a lot of different factors that kinda led me to Houston, it was a hard choice but I still think I made the right one. The guys I play with are great characters and terrific teammates, so even tho it’s hard to be competitive, we’re still out there having fun”

 

Houston has only 5 legit Roster players right now, so Ryker is maxing out ice time and is alright at 3 goals and 1 assist in his 4 games played, a decent start to his young career. He’s currently enrolled for the s75 draft and is currently ranked 20th, but he will likely quickly rise in the rankings, as he has just become eligible.”

The morning after the exciting VHL Draft, Prague phantoms forward made headlines after calling a press conference and announcing retirement at the end of the following season. A life long Phantom, Pearson has been a staple in the phantoms lineup for years.

 

Drafted originally by Helsinki in season 67 after a Semi decent rookie season in San Diego, Where he slowly learned and adapted to the VHL game, with help from GM InstantRockstar, he slowly earned a name for himself around the league. he slid down to 30th overall in that draft and already experts were saying he was a steal. A few days later he was drafted by the Philadelphia Reapers GM Katherine Blade. He immediately got in and trained hard that offseason, and proceeded to light the VHLM on fire. He finished 4 points back of future Teammate Zeno Miniti for the league lead in points, sadly the reapers pulled a capitals and flammed out in the second round after being the favourites for the cup that season.

 

That offseason Pearson tweeted that his wrist had been broken in game 2 of the second round series and it would need surgery, in which case required him to miss multiple weeks of valuable training hours. Due to the Injury, and the fact they were coming off a cup win and don’t wanna lose core players, the Helsinki titans exposed Alex Pearson to the expansion draft, and he was quickly swooped up by the Prague phantoms, who, admittedly didn’t scout him very much at all, and both parties were relatively unknown to each-other. Despite the fact, they slowly formed a friendship, and Pearson was excited for his career as a phantom. 
 

There were times he became frustrated with the team and considered a trade, but he stuck through it all, mostly due to having a good relationship with his teammates and terrific fans in Prague. He played with a lot of teammates over the years, one in particular, Scotty BigShotty, him and Pearson played in every single team together, up until this last season in Warsaw. He was signed a few days prior to Pearson by San Diego, and the two dueled it out for the second line Center spot, Pearson eventually won, and BigShotty was dealt to Philadelphia. After the season, Pearson was drafted by the reapers in the dispersal draft, once again competing the two for the top line spot on Philadelphia. The two were both acquired by the phantoms in the expansion draft, and once again duelled it out for a top 6 position. He never really progressed the way Pearson did, and in such fact he eventually left via Free agency. 
 

He played his whole career in Prague, he currently leads the team in goals, and likely will until Thomas Landry II, the new face of the franchise, passes him in a couple seasons, but one thing is for sure, he will always be a lifelong phantom, captain for 2 out of 6 seasons, Only reaching the playoffs in 2 seasons, even though they came close many many times. He has many accomplishments to be proud of.

 

 

 

I learned alot with my first player, obviously I’m not the most active guy on here but I’m hoping to be more involved with the teams I’m on with Ryan Ryker. I have big things planned for him. Just a few shoutouts to people I’ve met along my first gen player

@BladeMaiden- Love her. An absolute legend. The reapers lockerroom was fun as fuck, had some seriously good times there, and when I might of lost intrest and disappeared from the league, she kept me involved.

 

@diamond_ace- What can I say. The only VHL GM I’ve ever had, and made it awesome, even though I never won anything official, it was always a fun season and I felt like we gave it our all. You really do deserve a cup man, and I hope you can GM me someday again.

 

@Seabass- Easily one of my closest friends in the VHL, I was sad to see you go, but I really hope you win yourself a cup in Helsinki, you deserve it for all the times you literally saved my life, hopefully we can play together if you recreate. It’s been a blast man, keep your head up
