Just a quick note here so everyone is on the same page. The sim team for S86 will be as follows:

    VHL: @MexicanCow123
    VHLE: @Devise
    VHLM: Myself
    Backup: @Josh

Additionally the season had been set to start on Wednesday but we were looking at the schedule and realizing there’s really nothing left so we shoved that up a couple of days. Indexes will be up today or tomorrow with the season start scheduled for Monday.

I would like to see the sick kids foundation, they save so many kids per year, and saved my sister 14 years ago, this one hold a special place for me and working together with the VHL to bring money to them would be amazing

Top 4 Season 86 Goalie Prospects:
    Fuuka Rask @Jubis (335 TPE) Ranked #4
    Joel Castle @animal74 (311 TPE) Ranked #5
    Lachlan Summers @kirbithan (295 TPE) Ranked #6
    Ash Sparks @DarkSpyro (275 TPE) Ranked #9

With 4 goalies in the top 9 in total TPE, teams later in the draft could see a goalie fall to them. Especially with Seattle owning 4 of the top 8 picks. The only teams selecting in the first round are Riga, Seattle, Helsinki, Toronto, London, Vancouver, Davos, Calgary, Moscow and D.C.. Of those teams only Seattle, Helsinki, Toronto and Davos are in dire need of franchise or bona fide number 1 goalie prospect. I predict where each goalie goes in the draft:

    3rd Overall Pick - Fuuka Rask @Jubis
After Seattle passes on a goalie at 2nd overall and opts to draft @Bojovnik. Helsinki wastes no time in selecting the top ranked goalie in Rask. After Helsinki dealt Xavier Booberry to Davos at the deadline they are now in need for cornerstone between the pipes. I could also see them waiting until #9 to see who falls. But I'm not sure if @Rayzor_7 is willing to take that risk when he has a sure thing in Jubis' player.

    5th Overall Pick - Joel Castle @animal74
With @Agito seemingly taking the reigns from @Doomsday for the time being and quietly shopping his own player Jeremy Swayman. I believe Toronto will take BPA and draft a replacement for Lindbergh. Joel Castle looks to be a number 1 goalie in the VHL quite easily so this would be a safe pick for Toronto and fill a positional need going forward if Swayman can't fill Lindbergh's shoes in a couple seasons.

    8th Overall PIck - Ash Sparks @DarkSpyro
Spyro has a history with @Banackock and current player Chip Stone @DoktorFunk so Seattle opting not to select him would be surprising as their next pick is 21 and a goalie with 250+ tpe likely doesn't fall that far.

    12 Overall Pick - Lachlan Summers @kirbithan
Probably a lot later then this player deserves to go and I'm an old man, so what do I know? Summers has been one of the best first gens in this draft class and likely has the highest upside of any goalie in this draft. If not for the Seattle connection with Spyro I could easily see them landing there. Unfortunately not many teams need goalies right now so I can see at least one if not two falling to this spot. Davos takes BPA and has a surefire replacement for Booberry when he ultimately retires in a few seasons. I don't think @Alex would be able to pass up a goalie of this caliber at this spot in the draft.

This is the part where those who are tagged can tell me I'm OTL.
Hopefully everyone has a killer draft tomorrow.

Jubis reacted to jacobcarson877 in S85 Team Timelines (A Test Run) - Calgary Wranglers
This may be one of the best Wranglers squads ever assembled. Ricer and company have committed to an identity, and have put in the work to be contenders for the remainder of the 80s.

    Prospect Progression

The Calgary Wranglers have used up the majority of both their prospect and draft capital in order to assemble the core pieces represented in their current squad. There are still however a few active players who may see VHL playing time with the Wranglers in the coming seasons.
First off is Larry Abass Jr, a strong 2-way winger who has been absolutely dominating in the VHLM for the past 2 seasons. Earning 10+ TPE per week, this player looks ready to either fill in as a depth forward next season for the Wranglers, or mature a bit more with Stockholm.
Next up is Lorenzo Cobberson, who has been slowly chugging along the last few seasons. While not the highest earner, they have continued to get their welfare pretty consistently, and will be looking to build towards their ceiling with the Oslo Storm for a few seasons. They are currently a depth piece on a stacked roster, so look for them to earn more of a role as the seasons go by.
Finally, there is Michael Shotter. An undrafted free agent defensive prospect, currently with the Miami Marauders. Earning close to 10 TPE per week now, Shotter has a strong chance of making the team in a couple seasons as a strong depth option. A really exciting storyline and hopefully a valuable piece for the Wranglers.

    Contracts & Cap

This is where it begins to get messy for the Wranglers. Having one of the best earning young cores in the league does come at a cost, and that is financially. With 3 forwards and 2 defensemen set to be earning max contracts next season, decisions will have to be made as to how they will stay compliant. Will they take the Seattle route and simply run with less players? Will they move one of their big name players?  Luc Tessier retiring gets one contract off the books, but will the team have the room to resign franchise player Saku Kotkakoivu? After S86 the books look rather stable, with Jokinen coming off and their younger players growing into that money. Daniel Janser, Landon Wolanin, and Leandro Gonclaves are locked up long term up front and AirRig GoodBrandSun is also locked up for multiple seasons on the back end. Ben Dahl has lots of term in net, but has had dwindling activity over the last few months.

    Draft Decisions

The Wranglers have an interesting few drafts ahead of them. With so much of their future already certain, the Wranglers will need to maintain a supply of depth options to fill in around their established stars. This late first round pick in the upcoming draft may be their last opportunity for a while to bring in a long-term talent. There are still lots of questions as to where they may go in the draft with that pick specifically, but there are plenty of talented players in the S86 class that could fit the bill. A lot of that decision will be made my players like Sax Justice and Phil Strasmore, and whether they think they can continue to solidify themselves as core players. There is also the wildcard pick of a goaltender, depending on the story of Ben Dahl.

    Future Philosophy

The Calgary Wranglers are going to continue to be a dominant 2-Way team. Their forwards are continuing to load up defensively, and their defensemen continue to grow offensively. This is going to be a tough team to play against, and the Wranglers hope to outplay their opponents, particularly on the shot clock and the possession timers. Committing to these identity players for a long time gives us an easy look as to what the team will look like for seasons to come, which is mostly the same. Crossing that 900TPA threshold for their young core and seeing results like the ones they have seen in the S85 regular season is a great sign for future success. As Janser, Wolanin, Goncalves and GoodBrandSun continue to pile on the TPA, they only become a better deal, so this is really where their developmental practices begin to shine.

Jubis reacted to Ricer13 in Daryl Dixon looking ahead.
Season 85 is nearing its end as Daryl Dixon and the Miami Marauders gear up for a post season run. Dixon and Miami have found a lot of success this season but Dixon can’t help but to look ahead to his future.

Daryl will be drafted to both the VHLE and VHL after this season. He wants to end up being on the same team as his partner in crime, Rick Grimes. Daryl has been letting GMs know that these two are a package deal and that if they are drafted separately that he will not commit beyond his rookie contract. It’s not easy draft two high caliber prospects who want to play together but it’s been done before and they are hoping it’ll get done.

Dixon also has a decision as to whether he plays in the E or up in the big league this season. Unless a team
absolutely wants him up I know he’d prefer to stay down a season and marinate in the European league. Then he will be in a much better position to have a good rookie season.

It’ll be an exciting off-season for Daryl Dixon and his counterpart Rick Grimes. Where will they end up?

    FUUKKA RASK- #40
    VHLM Drafted: 14th Overall
    Birthplace: Savonlinna, Finland
    Age: 19
    Height: 6"3'
    Weight: 193lbs
    Shoots: Left
    NHL comparison: Tuukka Rask

    OVERVIEW

Fuukka Rask burst onto the scene, after signing with the Philadelphia Reapers in S84.  He went 6-0-0 in his only 6 games that regular season.  In S85 he joined the Ottawa Lynx after being drafted 14th Overall.  The season went incredibly well, Ottawa was in 1st place in the entire league and Rask was leading all goalies in wins. A mid season GM firing saw Rask ride the bench the remaining 14 games of the season. The Lynx also slid a little in the standings standings.
It appears Rask will finish with a respectable 34-11-5 record. The team is now gearing up for a nice playoff run. Rask is well rested and looks forward to proving potential future GM's what he can do!!
    PRO:
Balanced Style- Rask has made it a habit of his to practice all aspects of his game. Fuukka puts in the same amount of time training for rebound control, catching, positioning and puck handling when he needs to. while it is possible to say this is a con of his due to no one style of his game being stronger than the other I think most teams will be interested in the well roundness of his game.
Reaction Time- Rask is increedible at reading the shots that are coming towards him, and is rarely too late to respond. Another part of what gives him his incredible raw potential and what makes him such a fun goaltender to watch is his lightning quick combination of reaction time and hand speed.
Dedication- Fuukka is an incredibly hard worker. Coming into the gamelat such a young age, many have wondered whether or not he is willing to stick around for the long-haul. Rask is known for not only finishing what he starts but also striving to be number 1 at what he does. There need not be any worry about his dedication to the game of hockey or the league going forward.

    CON:
Penalty Shot- Rask is not known for stopping breakaways. His coach used to try not to get to penalty shots when he was in net. His size may help but he is just not good at handling this type of pressure in 1 on 1 situations.
Skating- Some say goaltenders are the best skaters on most hockey teams.  That's just not the case with Fuukka. This may be his biggest weakness.
Ego- Although he seems really humble and is not overly outspoken. Rask truly believes he has the potential to be the best in the world.  This could cause issues later on in his career with playing time, locker room interactions and post game comments.
