    Hello All

Hold your panties you may not be expecting this.

December 31st 2019. A day I will never forget. The day @Banackock and @diamond_ace  gave me the opportunity to run Yukon after many many seasons applying and AGMing in San Diego with @InstantRockstar. That day was one of the best days of my life. (Yah I'm not joking my life is sad).

March 5th 2021. A day I will never forget. The day I officially resign from the role of Yukon's GM. I want to thank everyone I met during my journey. It was an incredible 8 seasons. (Hot damn it does not feel like that many). You may ask why am I resigning after spending so much time in Yukon. Well my reasons being.

    1. I'm going to be totally honest. This past season I've been a terrible GM. It took me getting called out by someone close to my heart for me to realize that. I'm especially sorry to Yukon's S76 team. I wasn't very active in the looker room and I apologize.

    2. I've spent 8 seasons as a GM as I previously mentioned. Just over 1 real life year. I felt it was my time to give this position to someone new. Someone who wants to do more in this league and someone who's going to do a way better job. I was feeling burn out and it was time for me to pass the team off.

    3. With @Beaviss stepping down as Head of Recruitment team that unloaded a lot more work onto me. With him moving on its up to me to run the team. I was feeling all the stress of that and knew that if I tried to keep my GM position things would not go well.

Thank you @fromtheinsideyou were the best AGM I could ask for. Thank you so much for putting up with me. I love you to death.

Thank you all for reading this and I look forward to new opportunities in the league. I have already recommended someone to the Commish for my replacement. Have a great day VHL. I love you all ❤️

Unrelated but I just noticed I "won the day" once here at VHL. I was curious how and it was because @Ricer13 liked all my posts one day during the Town Traitor ToS we did last month. So I guess that mode was good for something after all.

So, this is obviously a lot of text. Basically, the easiest way to know that rigging isn't happening, especially on a player level, is the insane amount of hoops one would have to go through to ensure it.

Without uploading the files, there is no way to actually see player stats, as far as I'm aware. So for Bek, or anyone, for that matter, to rig it in such a way to ensure their player is thriving, they'd need to create multiple saves, upload, and then start over however many times to ensure they got a result they want.

Team wins would be one thing, but individual success would require so much effort that there's no way it would go unnoticed, much less be worth the time and effort to succeed in a fictional hockey league. We are all here to have fun and enjoy the league/community. Those of us in staff positions are volunteers who are giving our time to ensure the league continues to function in a way that is enjoyable for everyone here. There is literally no benefit to us to "rig" this league when all that would end up in is a dead league that nobody wants to be a part of, it's happened to many leagues before.

Just a general rundown in case anyone is curious about circumstances outside the raw numbers:

61-64: As mentioned I wasn’t simming yet so really just a good baseline of Thompson’s talent.

65: Devise Simmed so lab ignored this one (a mistake in itself because things happened in odd numbered seasons as well to drop my numbers as much as they happened in even numbered to increase them). In 65 Ironside and I both signed in Seattle intending to make it a super team. This backfired as I learned that if I’m on a line with another 2-way guy we would both suck. Ironside actually played pretty on point but Thompson suffered.

66: I jump ship to an insane Helsinki team. Anyone that looks at the team that season can recognize why my numbers were good. Borwinn and I played lights out together and it went great.

67: Borwinn re-rolled his attributes and basically copied my build. Went okay for him in the long run but as mentioned above Thompson didn’t like other 2-way players with him. Borwinn and Thompson both suffered big time.

68: Intentionally signed with a team so that I could hit 400 goals and had everyone on the team on board with that goal. @Advantage and @OrbitingDeath  for sure can confirm. We were a team built entirely for feeding Thompson goals.

69: No player in the VHL so as mentioned, not really relevant.

70-71: Probably my worst seasons with any player I’ve ever had. Went up slightly with Devise simming but I was still miserably awful. These are more uncharacteristic than awful than proof I shouldn’t have been doing better but there you go, horrible years.

72: The peak of that current build of Calgary. Scoring on the whole was down that season and I finished 10th, 16 points out of first place. I did tie for the Brooks which is shocking after my first two seasons but I also had Jubis feeding me like mad all year (he finished third in points and had 55 assists). Playoffs went very similarly (while live) until we were shut down in the finals. It was a strong team to be honest.

73: Scoring in the league went way up, mine didn’t. Jubis stayed hot so I think we were spreading things around a lot. On the whole a 9 point difference between 72 and 73 isn’t some insane red flag. My goals did drop a lot, I’m confused by that. @Jubis was GMing his first full season so we’re lines a little wonky maybe? Unsure.

74: Traded to Moscow and let’s be honest, was the best player on the roster by a pretty wide margin. Not the first time that a good player on an iffy team has been great. The fact that Moscow played way above its skill level is more surprising.

75: Big drop off I can admit. Partially consistent with the league scoring going down on the whole but not fully I can admit. Like I said earlier, I think I wasn’t on the PP lines and on the whole we didn’t mesh amazingly. I actually found in the playoffs (again, live) I did a bit more consistently good than the RS.

76: A bunch of trades led to a super strong lineup, see S66.

    —————————

So ultimately that’s a lot but just pointing out that there’s a lot of information being left out of the sheer numbers. However @bigAL makes a good point. Should this be about me at all? Probably not. Gorlab made it that way for reasons I’m not really sure of. Perhaps the conversation should be more of “can we remove the question” rather than “is he cheating” as it was presented.

As I said, it’s difficult but I’ve got 6 seasons without a conflict of interest to try and figure it out so I’ll see what I can do.

Alright I just woke up and don’t have time to read all this. I skimmed it but I assume the TLDR is: Bek players good so Gorlab mad?

I did see that he included S62 and S64 which is funny because I wasn’t simming the VHL yet in these seasons so that’s fun. I only simmed 66 and 68 in Thompson’s career, the rest of that section can be thrown out.

I also saw someone, @RedSus I think, mention Lahtinen playing top line all three seasons in the same team. This is true but the team around me changed quite a bit, league scoring in general went down, and I believe (although @Victor can confirm) that I wasn’t as high in the PP lines in 75 so I wasn’t getting as many power play goals. Could be wrong there but there’s definitely a lot of data being thrown out outside of that as well. For example three of those seasons I switched teams, 2 via FA where I could specifically pick my team. S66 I signed with a super strong Helsinki team to win a cup, S68 I specifically signed from a team that had 2 two-way guys together (a build that has always gone bad for me) to a team that was literally set up to feed me goals. S74 I was traded to Moscow so completely different team makeup. Those are being played off as a coincidence as I guess? S68 especially is interesting because 66 and 67 I played with Borwinn both times but he re-rolled his build into basically the same as mine in 67 with the result that we both did worse because two-way guys don’t like working together. Similar thing happened when @DollarAndADream  and I signed together in S65. I get that this is a lot of coincidence to believe, that bad things happened on seasons I wasn’t simming and good things on seasons I was but that’s basically what happened.

Long and short of it: my method for simming is to take my work computer, sign into teamviewer to get to my home computer to sim. Before anyone asks I work on a Mac so can’t just out STHS in my work machine even if I wanted to. I don’t know if you’ve ever used teamviewer but it’s laggy and in a small window and doesn’t allow you to do quite everything as you normally would. This is why my live sims in the playoffs can’t have any commentary because I don’t have control of the mic. Anyway, the point is, it’s a few extra clicks on paper but with that set up it’s more of a pain than it seems. I do it in the playoffs but every single day is definitely a bit trickier. With that said, the next conflict of interest season for me will be S80 (aim retiring trade deadline next season so do the math) so maybe by then I can work out a better system to make it live every day if people want that. I stand that it shouldn’t be needed but if it’s wanted I can try to work something out over the next couple of seasons. I say this because some of you actually approached things in a reasonable manner instead of shouting about what a filthy cheater I am.

    Anyway, time to make breakfast.

Okay this is excessive on so many things. You want to know how long it took me to see what variable was thrown out? 5 minutes.
It takes 5 mins to check the end of season lines across the last 3 seasons and not that they were ALL different
He played with 6 different wingers and that's without going through and checking midseason games to see other line changes.

You'll also notice that across the last three seasons, he was the #1 forward in overall with varying amounts of depth on the team.

You'll also notice 76 is the only time he has someone on the team on offence close in OV, which oh wait, played as center on the other lines.

    S74 sees 10 players break 100 points, 75 sees 3, 76 sees 8, 73 saw 9 and 72 saw just 1.
What I see here is normal STHS fluctuation paired with an Expansion happening. We saw league scoring go from 189 GFA/GAA in S71 to 210 in S72 to 223 in 74 and stabilize around 230 in 75/76.

If you want to toss data and facts around then you also need to bring to the table things that can disprove your theory. I have nothing against Gorlab here but you need the big picture.

All of this said, personally I call bullshit that Beketov would care to or want to rig regular season sims. On top of this the data I've provided shows logical reasoning for it to be false.
Now lastly, I do understand the calls for live simming. I personally don't care but I do encourage it as it shows another form of transparency for the league as people are obviously uptight now. So however this gets addressed I know blue team and BoG will make a decision that makes sense.

I am going to give Bek the benefit of the doubt as well. The numbers are very coincidental and do bring up some suspicion but not enough to warrant drastic change.

I agree with those who suggested a live sim. We do an off-season tourney and it is live simmed. It takes very little time to do it and the results are right there for everyone to see.

No drastic change is needed but that would be the one I could be on board with if this is actually that big of an issue.

    A couple things:

-I agree that the simmers should be more accountable. I do trust them and I'm not going to advocate for live sims because I think there's cheating going on...because I don't. I see the merits of doing it live and certainly wouldn't be against it (as in, would be willing to support it in a BoG thread) if that's what's supported by the community as a whole.

-We also don't know what's going on in other people's lives and I think it's incredibly selfish to demand that simmers go out of their way in their own personal lives to do things differently...but I will concede that if the ways to stream that have been listed here are viable, that shouldn't be too much of an issue. So this point doesn't really matter, I guess it just applies to how this started out and how it's gone in the past with people outright demanding sims at exact times every day and such.

-There's no reason this thread, and genchat, can't have this conversation in a civil manner. I'm not going to point fingers but some people should be ashamed of themselves for how they've chosen to go about their arguments--personal attacks, from anyone, to anyone, are never OK and will never lead to a productive conversation. Everyone can see this thread and everyone can read genchat. Do you think a newer member is going to click into VHL general tonight and see the league as a kind and welcoming place? Clean up your act.

Before I get to what I want to add to this thread in proper, I just want to say; framing any sort of legitimate argument or criticism about the the transparency of the simming process in the manner that Gorlab did here is simply mean spirited. Beketov has the utmost confidence of the simming team, the Blue Team, the BoG and the majority of this community. Framing his stats relative to seasons simmed without factoring in as Jericho mentioned so much other data, including team competition relative in a divisional era no less; is just a sandbagging. He further sandbags when one of his "solutions" is "Remove Beketov." I wanted to make this stance clear, because I feel that expressing belief that we should be live simming on the regular is in no way related to an implication that anyone, especially Beketov was rigging. Crossing the line into the territory Gorlab did is basically an attack on Beketovs character as a member as far as I'm concerned. Which is odd because I don't think Gorlab was being personal, he has no stake in many of the seasons when Beks players performed well. But the framing of his argument here is very personal, it attacks the entire credibility of Bek as a simmer and I do not in any way support that.

To the subject of live simming. I am not against it personally, I have indicated to the Staff and others once I return from my vacation I'd be fine doing it every season. But I do not speak for the entire simming staff and I know many others including non simmers that feel this is an unnecessary tack on. Gathering the communities opinion on what they'd like to see with this, and making an overall informed decision on livesimming yay or nay for the regular season would probably be the best course of action.
