Spence King got a reaction from Jubo in Spencer Elsby's Draft Day Experience
May 15 2020, The day has finally come and its VHL draft day , Spencer Elsby rookie defenseman previously drafted late 35th overall by Philly into the S71 VHLM with only a shaky first 8 games of experience in S70 at the end of the year for Mississauga after coming to North America. Elsby However busted his ass all summer after being drafted by Philadelphia and made it a personal goal of his to be a 1st round draft pick in the S72 VHL draft. Elsby did everything and more, were talking a player who at the beginning of he season was a 3rd pairing D just there to learn and soak like a sponge.

Which he did within a month Elsby had already started making a name for himself not only in Philadelphia but around the league. When the 1st round of Draft ranking was released Elsby was the highest listed Reaper sitting at 17!! Throughout the year Elsby’s developmental pace continued to skyrocket and it was evident every game you could see he was more confident and overall a much more skilled player , his ceiling Is endless.

Now the day before VSN made an extensive and in depth mock draft and they draft experts had Elsby at 12th Overall and that would indeed make him a first round pick. The draft experts were unanimous that Elsby was a top 12 talent and all five had him at 12 or higher. However as the draft starts rolling on we get to pick 10 and Moscow makes a surprise pick with Alex Letang @Spartan ( Elsby’s Best friend/Rival) the two had been battling it out to see who would get picked first. After that things continued to follow in strange suit as pick 12 passes and Elsby has yet to be taken , and with pick 13, not taken, 14….15……16 !? and Elsby is still on the board looks like the surefire pick but now , the VHL world was surprised to year Elsby’s teammate and and late season joiner with MUCH less TPE Liam Flatten was selected at 16!! Now this is where things get weirder, Elsby was recruited by Helsinkis GM when he was 15 to come over and play the VHLM , all season Helsinki knew they were taking Valterri Vaakainen 1st round as he is there GMs player, Helsinki mentioned several times how they wish things where different and he had another 1st or high 2nd and he would have the opportunity to draft Elsby. With all the draft experts saying theirs no way Elsby goes past 12 , definitely got @Jubo07 a steal at pick seventeen , Helsinki had no idea this player would still bee available to them and did they ever get a steal , a fellow countrymen and a future HOFr

Spence King got a reaction from Turner in Elsby Sr's First Draft Experience as AGM
March 18th at 8 PM marked the Live opening of the S72 VHLM draft , also the first VHLM draft newly hired assistant general manager in Philadelphia Spencer Elsby Sr’s and what an experience it was. Elsby was quoted after the draft “I could not be any more pleased with the way the draft fell into place and how things played out , I think all teams were a little shocked that no goalies went in the 1st round as I know we had that as a high priority, somehow we managed to snag the goalie we had penciled in as our first pick ended up going 34th Ovr future superstar John Poremba @celine, with the way the draft unfolded we were able to get the player we were most interested in , Jer Lefebvre , recent surprise 2nd round pick in the recent VHL draft, Lefebvre has been opening A LOT of eyes lately , and we couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to draft him and build around him”

The Philadelphia Reapers made six selections in this years draft and made some small draft pick trade to move up in the draft. Firstly the reapers traded up two spots moving S73 PHI 2nd and S72 PHI 6th to Houston for S72 SDM 2nd and were able to draft “there man” Jer Lefebvre at 19. The Reapers also Traded there S73 PHI 6th and (D) Hunter Harrison to the Yukon Rush for there S72 SSK 3rd . Finishing up there last trade on draft day the reapers felt comfortable with the way the draft was rolling and decided to move back a few spots and made a deal with Mexico Sending S72 PHI 2nd (21 Ovr) in return for S72 MEX 3rd and a S73 MEX 3rd.

After making these small move the Reapers ultimately had 5 Picks in this draft and not one 1st round pick’; 2nd Round (19), 3rd Round (27),(31),(34), 4th Round (47) and Finally 7th Roud (86). With the Reapers first pick by now every one knows his name and that Jer Lefebvre @Jer_Lefebvre. Jer is a future superstar and a proverbial 1st like center and the fans in Philly will love this guys scoring touch. Secondly the reapers were able to secure future superstar defenseman and the highly ranked “Riley Knight Gee” @KnightRiley. Riley has a fantastic season last year with Houston Scoring SEVENTEEN goals (as a defenceman) and 46 Asissts for 63 Pts in 68 GP. Riley has proven in his rookie season his offensive abilities , but he wont let you forget his defensive skills as well amazing 127 Hits and 193 Shots Blocked, this kid can do it all. With there next pick the reapers went with another highly touted forward in Turner McHugh @Turner, Turner is a pint sized energy bunny on the ice , he stands at 5”8 and 140 lbs, In 45 games on an abysmal Houston team Turner managed to Score 9 Goals and 23 Assists also averaging over a hit per game at 63/45 , Mccugh also proved clutch scoring two GWGs in S71. At pick 34 Shortly after the reapers found themselves where somehow John Poremba @CrlineDijohn14 was still on the board at 34 and the reapers made NO hesitations with their selection here  as the Philadelphia’s star Goalie from last season Isaak Sjostrom graduating to the VHL. Poremba was the ranked 3rd out of all Goalies going into the draft and being able to get a goalie of his caliber at 34 is something special. With the 3rd round coming to a close with Phillys 1st four picks all have one thing in common, and this was 100% coincidental however, Jer, Riley, Turner and John were all teammates during there rookie season last S71 playing on the S71 Houston Bulls. The reapers also selected promisng youngster Peekay Soupcan @Patpou22 in the 4th round , Peekay has alot of raw talent as he proved last season in his short VHLM stint in 20 games managing 6 Goals and 6 Assists for 12 PTS/20GP on a very week team with minimal ice time, Peekay could end up being one of the biggest steals of the draft. Lastly and deffintely not least the Reapers and @DMaximus Select Forward James Davis @I_gasselingwith the 86th pick in the 7th Round closing out Philadelphias draft day.

Spence King reacted to Jer_Lefebvre in Jer Lefebvre Prospect Report
    Jer Lefebvre
Jer Lefebvre was born and raised a good old Canadian boy. Drafted 23rd Overall in the S72 VHL draft the 6 foot 3, 205lbs center was a surprise jump in the draft. Ranked to be taken around the 32nd spot in the draft the HC Davos Dynamo must have been impressed by the young forwards up and coming talent. He was signed by the Houston Bulls late into S71, the Bulls has not had a good year up to that point, but it all turned around In the end as they nearly made a push for the playoffs.

Only playing 38 games this past season things started out slow for Lefebvre however and the games went on he got better and better. He showed immense amounts of development throughout his first year in the league and opened the eyes of some teams.

    Strengths
    Scoring -Rating of 70
Even though his stats may not portray it from his first short season this kid can score goals. In prior seasons before coming to the the VHLM he was a minimum 40 goal scorer every single year. His shot is comparable to that of Ovechkin 9 times out of 10 the puck is in the back of the net before the goalie even knows what happend of all his strengths his shot and scoring ability is no question at the top.
    Skating-Rating of 70
Another Major strength of Lefebvre’s game is his skating ability, his first three steps are second to none, he leaves defencmen in his dust many times throughout games. Coming into his first season in the VHLM he was a good skater but not seen as a top one, however he worked and worked throughout the season and has now found himself as one of the best skaters around.

    Weaknesses
    Faceoffs- Rating of 45
As a center faceoffs are very important, this is one area of his game that Lefebvre really needs to work on, his offence and skating has come a very long way but now there is a need for him to work on winning draws. This is a very important aspect not only in the defensive zone, but for a player with Lefebvre’s scoring ability it is also important to gain possession in the offensive zone. After being taken by the Dynamos the first things he mentioned was his goal over the offseason to become a better face off man and I’m sure he will get there.

    Passing-Rating of 50
With Jer being the goal scorer he is his passing game is lacking. Sometimes he tries to make the extra move when it would be a lot easier to move the puck to a teammate. Though he means well and is a great teammate, sometimes the blinders get up in game. Lefebvre more than makes up for this weakness with his scoring ability however, so not to many coaches or players seem to be complaining.

Jer Lefebvre is very young in his VHL career he holds a great amount of potential to develop into a star, now signed by the Dynamos, and playing the upcoming season with the Reapers he will be given every opportunity to advance his game to a star studded level. It will be very exciting to see how far it can go.

Welcome to the VHL @GeneralJager ! Thank you for joining the league. Your first step on your path to glory begins with your player, Jack Ogilvey signing with a minor league team in the VHLM. Other teams may make offers to you. Take your time, consider your options and pick the team that’s best for you.

I’m the GM of the Philadelphia Reapers, we play a brand of hard nose hockey as evidenced by our strong defense and dead opponents. Over the past three seasons, we’ve let in 100+ fewer goals than any other team and average over 100 points per season! We are the definition of a winning franchise.

Here we are with the playoffs nearly coming to a close, not joining the VHL too long ago my first season was a great chance to get my feet wet. This league is everything I had been looking for something to Pass the time at first but now I’m invested. My development is well on its way to becoming a Successful player in this league, but now I have a big problem... I miss it !

In Houston we had a great push to end the season, we came so so close to Squeaking into the last playoff spot but came up just a little short. Now with the playoffs not being a part of this season for myself I am missing the game! I miss checking on the type of night I had, I miss the party’s after a big win, and yes even the sorrows from a loss, I miss it all.

The playoffs are almost over, a champion will be crowned and it will finally be draft time, I can’t wait ... I’m itching to jump back in. Whatever team drafts me, they are gonna be getting a hungry, dedicated, excited player who is going to de everything they can to be the best they can be. It is coming, the new season, but for myself it can’t come soon enough !

Spence King reacted to Jer_Lefebvre in How I found my way to the VHL, and what it has done for me
It’s Sunday April 26, 2020, and i am absolutley bored out of my mind with all this quarantine stuff going on in the world. A few months ago I put my name on the waiting list to be a GM if an FOHL team, being from a small northern town like Sault Ste Marie the OHL is the most excitement we get as a hockey man around here. Since I was a little kid I’ve been a die hard fan and when I found out there was a chance to be a fantasy GM in that very some league I jumped on it. Amazingly a few weeks back I received an email from the commissioner asking if I was interested in being the new GM of the FOHL’s Niagara Ice Dogs, of course I instantly replied with an exciting yes! Few days later I get a message from one of the GMs to my surprise is a buddy I went to high school with, @Spence King. He welcomes me to the league, gives me the ups and downs, but above all that he tells me about something that is going to not only help me get through this world pandemic but allow me to invest in something as exciting as this.
He tells me to take a look at the VHL, Ann was I surprised at how awesome this community is, and I signed up right away wanting to get started as soon as

I’m not going to lie when I first started I was like a dear in headlights no idea what was going on! Spencer was There for me tho at the start helped me through how to create a player what all the TPE was how to use it how to get it, it was perfect having him there to help me along to start! Starting out in Season 71 In the VMHL my GM of the Houston Bulls has been amazing too, @Sonnet has been so open with any questions I had where to post things how to do things l, building assistance..all of that all the other more detailed ins and outs sonnet has help every step of the way!

Sonnet has our Houtson team all In line no the season hasn’t been a dream one for us but there have been vast amounts of improvement and I think a lot of it can be credited to our GM, always on top of us making sure we get our tpe in getting the press conference up for us reminding us to do the trivia question.. all of that stuff makes a difference I know u would forget sometimes without the reminders for sure! We have shown crazy improvement on the Bulls we have been getting wins every well and now we are even on the brink of making the playoffs. It would be amazing to make the playoffs and get that experience. If that is not the case though I am looking forward to the draft it has been so awesome to be recruited into a league like the VHL this is something I am so interested in! The development of myself as a player is coming along very well I’m starting to put up some points and get where I want to be in my first season in the league, mostly attested to sonnet and my teammates!

Here I sit on my couch knowing I need an article for this week as it is so important to my development as a player! I am only about a month and a half into my career but not has the ride been fun so far! Coming in as the 2nd line Center to start, sonnet giving me ample ice time to show what I can give to help the team, it have been a blessing. The draft is ahead and I am so excited for it Jer Lefebvre is coming strong getting better every week, I cannot thank Spencer enough for introducing me to this amazing league it has really allowed me to focus my mind on something in the middle of such a crazy world! And sonnet for being the best GM a player could ask for helping me develop myself further and further every single week. And to the VHL community thank you for letting me be a part of such a fun awesome league, it is something I have been looking for for a long long time!

Spence King got a reaction from DMaximus in The End of a Rookie Season and The Gasoline on the fire - Spencer Elsby's S71 Playoff Experience
May 4th 2020 The Philadelphia Reapers are going into game 7 of the 1st round of the playoffs, in great playoff hockey and extremely back and forth and mostly unpredictably of 6 games so far. This 4-5 first round seeding put two heavyweights with up against each other with Philly against the Offensive Dynamos of the Vegas Aces in a series that debatably could’ve been the Finals matchup if the seedings were different. Ultimately when the buzzer sounded after 60 minutes the score clock showed nothing the Philly players of fans wanted to see... Las Vegas Aces 7- Philadelphia Reapers 3. A very strong S71 season from the Reapers had come to an abrupt halt last night. Philly had a very strong season all the way out consistently being a threat to the top teams all season and sitting in 2nd place for most of it , were unable to make get the bounces they needed to make round two. This Game 7 marks Spencer Elsby 1st career game seven, some invaluable experience , he managed to put one in the net during the crucial game seven , in the end him and his reaper teammates had to say farewell as that will be the last game wearing the Reapers jersey together, it was evidently truly emotional

Ending his rookie season with an iron man 72 Games played with the Philadelphia Reapers eye popping deference racked up 11 Goals, 24 Assists ,3 Game Winners and 83 Shots blocked putting him 2nd only behind all star defensive defenceman Jason Goeson. The 11 Goals has Elsby as the leading Goal scorer from the blue line for Philly and his offensive ability to quarterback the Power play has been on the highlight reels every week. Elsby is currently sitting at 11th Ovr on the VHL S72 Draft boards moving up 7 spots from rankings published earlier this season. Scouts have Elsby potential late 1st and high 2nd round pick of the VHL draft. Elsby also was selected as a 16 year old in his rookie VHLM season to represent Team Asia in the S71 WJC. Team Asia went on to be the #1 seed team after round robin and making it to the gold medal game , where things obviously did end the way Asia would have preferred that had a great tournament and played some great hockey. Elsby but up an outstanding performance registering 1Goal ,8 Assists for 9 points in 8 GP (over a point per game) during round robin and another 3 Assists throughout the Semi Final and Gold Medal game for a total of  Elsby as a rookie finished the tournament 3rd In defenceman scoring in very fine fashion.

After the unfortunate conclusion to the Spences first playoff run ending In a game 7. Elsby continued to grow defensively and there were a couple games Elsby lead the entire reapers team in Time on Ice. While maintaining disciplined Elsby led the Reapers in Shots blocked with 14. Elsby was able to score his first playoff goal in the biggest game of his VHLM career (VHLM not International ?) in game 7 and another 2 assists along the way during the 7 game playoff push. Spencer was quoted after the game saying “ Its obviously disappointing and I know we have the skill on our team to have made it further and it hurts knowing the season over and im not going to play with a lot of  my best friends and new family maybe ever again, however the bond we made over this amazing season and I cant say it enough how fortunate I am to have been drafted  to such an amazing organization @DMaximus really made my rookie year the best experience I could have ever dreamed of. This rookie year was an amazing stepping stone and has left me with nothing but great memories with the team and gasoline on my fire to just keep improving, this just motivates me more and I cant wait till we play the Aces next season”

Spence King got a reaction from Zetterberg in Spencer Elsby - Prospect Scouting Report S72 VHL Draft
Elsby has the potential to quarterback a top power-play unit at the next level, thanks to his high-end hockey sense and elite puck skills on the blue-line. He can transition the puck from defense to offense with possession and is able to do so with good pace to his game. Spencer uses his excellent skating to drive the play and push the pace from the back end. He is an excellent transition player, can make tape-to-tape passes on the fly and presents a high-end offensive game and play making ability that make him dangerous every time he touches the puck.
His agility on his edges and accelerates with ease and blows by opponents with his speed. He has the ability to be the primary puck carrier on his line and excels in the role, cutting through neutral zone defenses like a hot knife in butter. Elsby’s game revolves around his ability to do everything extremely quickly. His hands and feet are both very quick, but his brain might be even quicker because he seems to be able to make great decisions no matter the situation and how much pressure he’s getting from opposing players.

Ending his rookie season with an iron man 72 GP with the Philadelphia Reapers eye popping deference racked up 11 Goals, 24 Assists ,3GWG and 83 Shots blocked putting him 2nd only behind all star defensive defenceman Jason Goeson. Elsby as a rookie finished the tournament 3rd In defenceman scoring in very fine fashion.

Elsby has proven this league he is truly one of the most finesse players in this league and his ability to dodge hits and even after being hit most importantly not retaliating. There is already talks around the league that Elsby is considered the most hated player to play against because how sly he is about being chippy behind the refs eyes and never shuts his mouth. However off the ice all of the opponents admit Elsby is the sweetest and most genuine guy off the ice, he is two different people, when the games starts Elsby is not to be messed with, But off the ice hes everyone’s best friend always goofing around. This is something Elsby actually takes pride in and was quoted after his last game of the season with Mississauga last season “I want every player in the league to look at there schedule, and say , F*** we have to play Elsby tonight ☹, that is my goal to instill that in all of my opponents minds.”. This is something Elsby has been quoted saying several times as well at the beginning of this season during post game interviews. However now hes play speaks for itself and he doesnt need to tell anyone in the VHLM that.

    credit to @Zetterberg

“Elsby has been one of the draft’s biggest risers throughout the first half of the year thanks to his exceptional play in the VHLM this year and even in Mississauga late last season. He really proved himself to his GM @DMaximus cclearly going from a 3rd line D pairing to 1st line in every situation . His puck handing and ability to get shots through shooting lanes no one else sees is like no other. His ability to read the play and create passing lanes from walking the line with his amazing edges or a no look slap pass, this kid is a treat to watch. He is as creative a player with the puck as you will find in this draft.”
    - Bob Mckenzie- TSN

"His speed is impressive ... he can fly. Elsby's puck handling and vision are also excellent. I wasn’t sure on Elsby at the beginning of the season but I can promise you today I am 100% confident Elsby will one day be a #1 D quarterback on he back in the VHL , the future is very bright for this diverse and exciting player, his ceiling is unmatchable and he truly has no floor, this young man is a win-win for whatever lucky team calls his name on draft day. He's got a good attitude, works hard on every shift, and is so confident with the puck. He's also a little bit cocky on the ice, but in a positive way."
    Craig Button – TSN

We are not supposed to do it before our draft season. We are S72, so that would be next season (or in the offseason, I guess). I can't speak for others, but I'm over 250. Doing this will just give me more banked. Mine wasn't approved yet either, but if it's declined, I'll claim again in the offseason.

Claiming it now, if you are not capped, would give you an edge over other in the playoffs. I'd just claim it again whenever you are eliminated.
