I wish that my player, Noodles Marconi, would dish up a bit more pasta.  This is translated as, "I wish Noodles was a little more productive."  Currently, after 42 games, he is stagnating with a total of 3 points.  One meatball and 2 strands of spaghetti.  (1G, 2A) He does not get a whole whack of ice time.  It would be nice if he could contribute a bit more to the success of the Istanbul Red Wolves.  This is by no means a complaint in that Noodles is one of the very junior members on a pretty high powered team.  He does continue to progress and should be able to be more of a contributor in the future.  The Red Wolves are in fourth place in the VHLE, tied with the Geneva Rush at 47 points.  They hold down fourth due to their total wins.  There has been some minor line juggling done by GM @KaleebtheMighty in order to tweak the overall production as we head into a series of very tough meaningful games.  Given that there are only eight teams in the league, it occurs to me that every game is meaningful.  You have to beat those teams that you should beat and hope for a bit of puck luck when you play those teams above you.  Now the push for a playoff position.  Go Wolves !

Overall, I quite like this graphic.  Your choice of color scheme is solid in that the background blends in well with the foreground.  The background itself it nice.  Wildly understated, if you get my meaning.  The render is sharp, good work there.  You choice and color of font is quite good in that it is easily read and does not detract from the graphical elemnet.  As a suggestion, you could paint out that fine white line along the players head and back.  Good work 8.5/10

1). The season has finally begun! What is your projection for our final record?

I think our final record will place us just above the middle of the pack.  Prime position for a deep playoff run.

2). We started off going 2-2-0. How did you player do in those 4 games?

Its hard to say,  Noodles doesn't get enough ice time to really perform much.

3). Guilty pleasure time: I freaking love the band ABBA and jam to them a lot at home. What is your guilty pleasure in music?

    The Skydiggers.

4). What is your dream career?

I have already done my dream career and retired from it as soon as I could.  Dream career = doing what you want when you want.

7). Everyone has a dream car, what's yours?

    1967 Shelby GT 500 Mustang.

8). What is your locker room tradition before a game?

Noodles puts on his equipment left to right....never, ever the other way around.

Eynhallow got a reaction from jacobcarson877 in A Noodles Update
It would be a lot easier to create a 200 word article if, in fact, something interesting had happened to Noodles.  So what changed ?  Absolutely nothing.  Noodles is still getting limited ice time, between 3 and 6 minutes per game.  I understand this, though, in that his skill set is not as developed as other players on the Istanbul Red Wolves.  Of note is that Noodles did egt 2 points in 24 game, one of them being a game winning goal.  So that, at least, is a bit of positive news.  Noodles is continuing his progress, adding as many skill points as he can on a weekly basis.  On another note, Noodles' team, the Istanbul Red Wolves, seem fated to end up in the middle of the pack.  Although they are stuck in a spiral of losing (three in a row), it doesn't seem likely, at this point, that they will not make the playoffs.  There is a lot of hockey between now and then, however.  And a lot can happen.  If/when they make the playoffs then anything can happen.  Time will tell.

@Gaikoku-hito really nice graphic, as usual.  Not much to pick apart.  I like how you kept in theme with a Viking in the background. Very good render and logo swap. I would also like to commend you on celebrating your players debut in the VHLE.  The text commemorating that is easily read.  Nice signature for Pierre Emile as well. The text on the side being framed by the player's stick is a nice touch as well.  Nice work  9/10

Unfortunately it looks like we will be a middle of the road team.  Unless we pick up the pace.

2). We started off going 2-2-0. How did you player do in those 4 games?

Noodles did very little during this time.  His skillset is not well enough developed to have a real impact.

3). What is your dream career?

    I am living it !!!

4). What is your favorite type of candy?

    I am partial to M&M's

5). Everyone has a dream car, what's yours?

    1967 Shelby Mustang GT 500.

6). What is your locker room tradition before a game?

I don't really have a locker room routine.  But I dearly love to observe the unusual traditions that the other guys have.

Alright time to flex a little here. So @JardyB10 made an excellent hecking podcast that everyone should check out ( https://vhlforum.com/topic/120320-jardys-nodesode-17-identity-confusions/ ) and mentioned this week’s earning leaders and I thought it would be fun to talk about that some more.

So in first is my recent recruit, @JCarson who earned a whopping 45TPE this week, which I didn’t even know was possible but it definitely is.

2nd is @leandrofg, fellow Wranglers prospect and just an excellent member.

    3rd is yours truly. Bleh.

4th! @Eynhallow! Red Wolves teammate, tearing it up!

Sorry to the few I’m skipping now I haven’t interacted with you at all that I remember.

9th! @Plate , grinding as always for those top minutes with San Diego, and making good on them.

10th! @Brandon, another Red Wolves teammate and my captain!

14th@Kendrick! 16th@der meister! 21st@badcolethetitan! 24th@Insypher ! So many Red Wolves putting in the work this week (yes I know graduation bonus helped but shut up).

Anyways, that’s words and hopefully some more TPE in the bank for me, which is what I’m really here for. Happy earning everyone!

Oh wait here's another random something for 6 TPE media. I feel like I can do another one despite of a long day outside of Riga today. Just got back home lol and sent some lines.

Yes, sent some lines again for the pre season. The first sim of it was a total crapfest for us cause only 3 goals scored in 3 games was not. I'd say more nasty things about this sim engine but this is just a pre season so I'll keep this for later. Also, it doesn't seem like it's even finalized Riga. Miklavz first build was rather meh for the 880 TPA guy as Kelvie went 99 with some attributes thinking this is about to raise his scoring buy a lot. As the result, almost the same scoring as Tallinder and very low puck handling. With almost maxed strength. So you can see how weird this build was even for this hybrid build system. So he will reroll it soon, but for now we will just run with it. Also since both Lemieux and Tallinder are inactive I can change their builds whenever I want in the span of the next three seasons. Cool stuff I guess.

Another interesting thing I noticed - the regression isn't a thing anymore? I was checking Tallinder's regression after this season and it appeared that he is only losing 40 something TPE. So basically I can keep him for the reminder of his career and he still would be a decent body at the second def pair. Perhaps even this regression will make him from a half way decent player to a pathetic nobody, but as of now the regression isn't really gonna do much lol. I was just running the regression for the higher TPE Riga players and it appeared that they certainly can fight it without much problems. So I'm wondering if higher ups are gonna do with that or this was exactly what it was supposed to be.

By the way, looks like the stat pad season for AK could be a thing. In three games this pre season he already managed to put 16 shot blocks and also played a part in every single Mexico goal. So I think he has 6 points in 3 games as well. Honestly I hope nobody from contenders even want him, I'm actually happy to see these numbers lol. Don't even care if I win there or not, leave that thing to newer members.

I also wanted to note that Ruutu is hella entertaining. Posting all of them hot take articles and having others in shook, including mods. Can't wait to see what is he gonna pull next time. Just like in these S50's dramas I'm out there ''sitting with the popcorn in my hands'' and seeing how it will end up.

Also, I was a bit surprised Dil never said anything about me taking his player in fantasy. Probably doesn't even believe in him to post good numbers eh?

Alright, enough for today. Hoping for a good sim yada yada, but mostly regular season hype!

    That's it and I'm out.

Before I get to my rant I would like to thank @KaleebtheMighty and @Acydburn for their efforts in actually getting my player to play in the upcoming season.  I hope that Noodles will make a contribution in Istanbul as they already have quite a formidable team.

But I digress.  Please bear with me as I describe the sequence of events that do not make me a really happy player.

Firstly, I retired my first generation player, Isau DaMoose shortly after the trade deadline so that my recreate, Noodles Marconi, would have as much time as possible to develop.  Initially, this went well.  Noodles played part of a season with the Mexico City Kings while Isau played out his career with the Riga Reign.  Noodles wasn’t eligible for the current VHL draft, and I understood that, so when I was approached to skip the VHLM and go to the VHLE I accepted the opportunity.  That;s where things went dramatically to hell in a basket.  The VHLE draft came and went and Noodles was not drafted.  Subsequently, no free agent offer came his way.  I was somewhat concerned so I posted this:

I was hoping that this might be a gentle and humorous nudge to get a contract offer.  Of course, that did not happen.  I couldn’t understand why not.  I had more than 200 TPE and I had only applied 199 to remain VHLM eligible.  There were players that had been drafted into the VHLE that had 35 or more fewer TPE !!  Needless to say, I was pretty confused about all this.  Whereupon I posted something with a bit more bite:

At this time my own emotions were running wild.  Was Noodles’ build that fucking bad that no one wanted him?  Or was it me personally ? Was I being too controversial?  Or not controversial enough?  Was I too demanding, too much of a whiner?  Good time to quit, right ?  More about that later.

As I type this, the Red Wolves have set in motion the process to acquire Noodles, but I would like to note that they were the only ones to reach out, excluding posts made by Riga and Moscow.  I don’t think Noodles would have helped either of the VHL teams very much, so I am not too sure how serious those comments were.

Consider this though.  Let’s assume that a VHL team had offered Noodles a 3 year contract which he accepted.  What, then, would be his status in the next draft.  If he were to be ineligible for the draft a whole realm of possibilities present themselves.

So, at this point, although Noodles will be on a VHLE team, he will likely miss out on training camp.  That sets back his development considerably.  And it also pisses me off because I work pretty damned hard to earn the TPE that I get. What also concerns me about this mind-boggling sequence of events is that Noodles has a decent build and should have been on a team way before this.  It is really unfortunate that I had to go out and actually market my player when far weaker build had already been assigned contracts.  My initial reaction is WTF and remains as such because I have no idea why all this happened.  Nor did anyone actually try to explain it to me.

As you may know, I have enjoyed the VHL.  Take a look at the Moose Tracks series of articles regarding Isau DaMoose.  They were a lot of fun to create.  So when Noodles was struggling to get placed, I didn’t just give up on him.  From the point of view of player retention, this could easily have happened with perhaps a marginal first gen player.  I would hope that the powers that be would investigate this situation with the intent of either not having it happen again, or, at the very least, keep the player informed as to why his sim player is not getting on a team.  It's not as though the VHL powers don't consider the individual.  I recall an instance where a first gen player whined daily about not having been placed on a team immediately.  That situation was handled promptly and the player received a contract............whereupon he went inactive.  Go figure !!

Now, I am not accusing anyone of anything.  Nor blaming anyone for this problem (at least it was to me).  I am merely pointing out that there is a problem in the sequence of things that should have happened with Noodles.  And that problem should be rectified.

So, where do I go now with Noodles.  His future is unclear.  If I retire him, I lose all that carry forward TPE that I amassed with my former player.  If I continue down this path, will there be more issues surrounding this player due to the fact that I didn’t choose his career path very wisely?  Should I continue with Noodles just because this ongoing scenario presents me with TPE opportunities by venting and mini-ranting?  So, as I mentioned, Noodles, I think, has a decent build, or at least a build that I would like to see “in action”.

As you can see, Noodles looks to be a pretty balanced player for a Right Wing.  I think he will be able to contribute offensively and be responsible at the defensive end of the ice. But, as you can also see, he remains a Free Agent as of the time and date of this article (2022:04:18:0848). This balance, though, seems to condemn Noodles to being a journeyman player for the balance of his career.   However, I do have faith in the VHL’s system for placing players on various teams (although this has been badly shaken by the events I have mentioned).  So, I am sure that Noodles will be able to earn an income playing hockey.  Right now he is scraping by training geckos for Geico.

In the big picture, I believe this all to be an unforeseen blip and Noodles’ career will continue as usual (with the exception of a missing training camp).  Hopefully he will fulfill a meaningful role with whatever team(s) he plays for this season and in the seasons to come.

Great graphic @Ledge as usual.  I like the overall gold theme, especially the nuggets in the background.  Nice use of the Mexico City Kings logo on the background as well as a very good logo swap/application to the players jersey.  You have a good choice of font.  It is easily read and the colors blend into the overall graphic quite seamlessly.   I likely would have centered the players last name as opposed to having it left justified as you have done it.  A minor suggestion for a largely great graphic.  Nice work.  9.5/10

I like what you have going on here.  Firstly, the non-hockey theme is a nice touch.  Graphics like this are quite a bit different that the usual hockey player character.  You choice of caricature is way cool, ya gotta love that off the wall stuff.  I also like the color palette that you have chosen (like the color of the guys shirt).  It fits very well with the Legion colors.  I am a big fan of cityscapes in the background.  Toronto is unmistakable.  Your font choice was great making the text easily read.  Great Work.  9/10

Another very effective graphic.  What initially strikes me is how you have managed to get the background colors and the jersey colors to be so much the same.  That give the whole graphic a color tone.  You have used nice contrasting colors in your text.  That makes it very easily read.  You do lose a bit of the double "L's" in Hextall however.  Yous choice of render shows some dynamism and intensity.  I like the overall feel to the graphic as well as appreciating its simplicity.  A graphic does not have to be "busy" to be appealing.  Nice work.  8.5/10

    1. How did the VHL / VHLE draft go for you?

Not very well, I am afraid.  Noodles did not get drafted, nor was he picked up as a Free Agent.  Difficult to understand given that he has 182 TPE and counting.

    2. What do you think of the teams right now?

I think the VHLM and VHLE teams are missing the boat in not acquiring the services of one Noodles Marconi.

    3. Are you excited about next season?

I might be if my player was, in fact, on a team !!

    4. Do you think Mexico City can be competitive next season?

Yes, absolutely.  But they would be more competitive withNoodles patrolling one of the wings

    5. What do you think is the perfect combination for a winning team?

For a winning combination, I think you need a combination of great talent and effective leadership.

    6. In your mind, what do you think the VHLM is all about?

The VHLM is a great place for players new to the VHL to learn how to develop a player.  As well, for recreates, it provides a platform to develop a new build.

Hello again, it’s been a while since I’ve written an article, or something of this nature. But since it’s the offseason I need some extra tpe . So I thought as one of the things I could write about, which will be split into a lot of parts I’m not realizing, is about the championship team I was apart of during my time in the VHLM with the S75 Philadelphia Reapers and where they are today, almost a year later. (At the time GM’d by the O so great @DMaximus )

So how this will go is I will put the player, their regular season stats, their playoff stats, a brief summary of their player, and their movement throughout their career.

First off the full roster consisting of a grand 22 players on the roster is right here:

In no particular order we start off from the top of the list with center, Isau DaMoose.

Not the reapers top player, drafted 14th overall in the S75 dispersal draft and after spending nearly 2 full seasons in the VHLM he’s one of those players you wouldn’t expect to turn into a solid pick and rise above most of his draft class. Averaging 0.69… point per game (nice) during the regular season and 0.8 points per game in the playoffs DaMoose was a reliable player and good for depth when it came to needing him. Finishing positive in the +/- category for both regular season and playoffs, obtaining a decent amount of shots, and low penalty minutes, I think further proves the point of him being very reliable and I must add now, a team player.

After S75 DaMoose moved on to the team that had drafted him before the season 38th overall, the Riga Reign, where he has remained throughout his entire career.. His first 2 seasons in the big leagues seemed to only be him warming up because afterwards in his next 3 season he would average, 1.12points per game, 1.01 points per game, and 1.15 points per game. Drastically increasing his total shots per season and keeping low penalty minutes. Truly sticking to the team player that he is. The almost 2 full season VHLM’er has since turned into an 1112 tpe player and nears the end.

Great job on a very nice career being had by DaMoose @Eynhallow , who is still an active member (big shocker).

The next player on the list is Center Robert Bouchard.

One of the Reapers top point recorders, draft 7th overall in the S75 dispersal draft, and spent just under half a season in the VHLM the previous season with the Minnesota Storm. It was obvious that this was going to be one of the reapers face of the franchise players and he certainly proved himself to be.  Getting 109 points during the regular season to make an average of 1.51 points per game, and getting a perfect 1 points per game in the playoffs. Though a talented player he recorded more assists than goals, most noticeably in the S75 playoffs with just 3 of his 15 points being goals and the other 12 being assists. A truly selfless player that could win the Reapers face-offs like non other, create scoring opportunities, and occasionally batting some into the back of the net himself.

After S75 Bouchard went to the VHL to the team that had draft him 24th overall in the S75 VHL Entry Draft, the Prague Phantoms. He has certainly shown his loyalty and dedication to being a “team-first” player because since S75 he has remained with the Phantoms every season. Bouchard has still not shown any decline in his play, in fact he is still rising after most recently having his record season in the VHL with 109 points. Once again with assists outnumbering goals in the goal:assist ratio. Taking the first two seasons to warmup to the league and then having his breakout season in S78 averaging 1.02 points per game, then 1.34 points per game in S79, and 1.51 points per game in his record season S80. Bouchard is at 1071 TPE and also nears the end of his career in the next couple of seasons.

Once again great job to Bouchard and the user behind him @Gaikoku-hito and remaining active throughout the entire time.

Once again onto the next player, there will be some repetitiveness because this is a long list lol, anyways the next player is center Kjell Nilsson.

Another player seemingly adding to the depth of the Reapers roster, drafted 52nd Overall in the S75 dispersal draft. Nilsson played basically a full season with the Saskatoon Wild the season before playing in 70 total games. After being drafted to the Reapers he multiplied his points by a factor of 2.5, going from 19 points the previous season to 48 total points the next season. In the playoffs that season for the Reapers he would record 4 total points, but remain positive in the +/- category and only record 8 penalty minutes that postseason. Though a small factor in the Reapers recipe for victory he was very much still there with his much impressive puck handling skills and scoring ability during the few opportunities he got.

After that season Nilsson would have a monster breakout season going from 49 total points the previous season to 143 the next! Philadelphia would make the playoffs again but not go as far as the season before. After S76 he would continue to play for the Reapers recording 99 total points in 64 games, then at the trade deadline he was given to the Las Vegas Aces where he would play the rest of the season and record 6 total points in 8 games for the Aces. The 52nd overall pick turned into a true standout player shortly after his draft season. Then in S77 at the conclusion of the Aces playoff run of 9 games, recording 11 total points. Nilsson would retire his player and the D.C Dragons who had spent their 51st overall pick back in S75 on Nilsson would end up never receiving him. Kjell Nilsson retired with exactly 250 TPE.

A great career was had during his time in the VHLM and it’s sad that after the S77 season his user @glass would go inactive shortly after creating another player and hasn’t been back since June 2021 for what I’m sure was just a quick glance before they closed the forum tab.

The next player features one of the VHL’s early time members @sixersfan594 ,with the a center by the name of Jivere Zolnek.

One of the many Reapers players that they had signed at the trade deadline the season before as waivers that would turn into draft selections for the Reapers right after. Drafted 78th Overall during the S75 dispersal draft to the Philadelphia Reapers Zolnek would add to the depth of the reapers, contributing minimally for the Reapers during the regular season with 13 total points in 72 games, but being a deciding factor for some games in the postseason with 10 total points in 15 games, with 1 goal of his being a game winning goal. In a sudden playoff jolt the player averaging 0.18 points per game in the regular season would become a 0.66… points per game player in the postseason. After taking 72 games to get a measly 13 points, he would almost reach that points total in just 15 games during the postseason.

After the S75 season and playoff run Jivere Zolnek would go on to the VHL where the 78th overall pick in the VHLM draft would go 16th overall to the Vancouver Wolves in the VHL entry draft right after his championship. Surely taking his time to heat up in the league, like cooking a pizza in the microwave the first 3 seasons he spend in the VHL he would only average 0.13 points per game, 0.45 points per game, and 0.65 points per game. Then would absolutely destroy his trend of going upwards by getting 112 total points in the S79 regular season for the Vancouver Wolves, and 133 total points in the S80 regular season for the Vancouver Wolves. Zolnek has remained loyal to the Wolves so far during his career and has a total of 619 TPE.

Great job to Jivere Zolnek and his user @sixersfan594 for showing that no matter the amount of TPE some of the other big dogs have, it’s still possible to be an outstanding player. Whether you knew it or not @Sixersfan594 has remained active.

Next up maybe a more recognizable name, or from at least a more recognizable family. Center, Asher Reinhart.

I would like to call him a depth player, I’m also uncertain of how he even got onto the Philly roster but his name is on the trophy so anyways here it goes. Asher joined the Reapers late into the season and managed to claw his was onto the roster for 2 of the Reapers remaining games in the regular season. Recording literally nothing at all, likely seeing no ice time at all. Then into the playoffs Asher played a full 15 games like all others on the Reapers roster, recording 2 total points in 15 games played. With mediocre stats but staying positive in the +/- category (barely) Asher like it or not did contribute, very minorly for the reapers, but “helped”.

After the playoff run he was apart of, Asher would go 4th overall in the S76 dispersal draft to the Houston Bulls and prove himself to be a worthy player recording 84 total points in 72 games. A major improvement from his performance the season before. Asher Reinhart would be a driving factor in the Houston Bulls campaign in the playoffs but ultimately come up empty handed. Asher was then drafted 6th Overall in the VHL S77 entry draft by the Toronto Legion. Asher, being a younger member of the team has played a season less in the VHL compared to some of his other teammates, but is warming up fast and becoming quite a standout player. In his first 2 season he would average 0.44 points per game in S77 and 0.52 points per game in S78. Then would have his breakout season for the Legion recording 89 total points in 72 games, averaging 1.24 points per game in S79, and continue his trend upwards by recording 118 total points in 72 games an average of 1.64 points per games in the S80 regular season.

With plenty of time left in his career Asher will likely continue to be a standout player for the Toronto legion where he has remained loyal to since being drafted there. Congrats to sir @rjfryman on the success of his player’s career so far and I am excited to see how the rest of his career pans out.

I will also add an obligatory fuck you spartan

Just needed to make a public shoutout to two people here. I forgot to do it immediately after the season so why not here lol. So there are the only two survivors in the S75 Riga class...by survivors I mean only two who played their whole careers in Riga.

@Ledge - not only he spent the whole career in Riga with Linus, he also was AGM. Mainly doing draft scoutings cause I was lazy as hell. Wait, why was? Anyways, Linus managed to survive this unfortunate turmoil that was happening with Riga during these days. Also, he almost hit a career point per game mark as a pass first which is pretty impressive considering in which era was he playing. Thanks for all the contribution to Riga and good luck with your new player!

@Eynhallow - DaMoose was constatly under the radar imo. Even when I was trying to sell him and go to rebuild, nobody GM's was caring much. imo that was a mistake by them - I was believing all the time he should've been way bigger deal, but I never found a proper winger to have a chemistry with. The last three season showed that his numbers could've been higher with a better luck and chemistry with some players, or maybe being in other team. Anyways, this was a fun time when our forum LR was popping hard. Unfortunately, summer and shit results killed that hype. But it was still a blast. So thanks for spending time in Riga and good luck with your new player!

    Alright, this was it.

    That's it and I'm out.

I quite like this graphic.  Your choice of subject matter is great.  It makes you wonder what this guy (Austin Matthews) is thinking at that moment in time.  The over all blue color palette was well chosen.  There is good contrast between the background and your text.  It makes it easily read as well as drawing your attention to the players name.  The flow of the graphic is also pretty cool in that your player is looking at the text. Good work !!!   8/10

Over the course  of the past few weeks I have seen articles written here and on other similar sim/forum type games where folks have been stepping away due to burn out/ game fatigue.  I have to say that "I get it !!!"  I have been involved in forum-based activities since before some of you were born and I understand how a person can get so invested in a forum community that it starts occupying way to damned much of your time awake (sometimes even when you are sleeping).  We try, at least in our opinion, to try to make the forum a better place.  But we all make mistakes, or or efforts go unappreciated and in the worse case, criticized.  As you all know, it's real easy to criticize from the anonymity of our keyboards !!  In any event, to all of you who are experiencing this, I have been there, done that and even have the T-shirt. My suggestion to you is to step back a bit, but please don't walk away.  These forums are a better place with you than without you !!
