Would streetlight be interested in moving from Davos to Stockholm now if mist4ke was his only player in VHL? Why Davos sent Mist4ke to Stockholm and not Threencarnacion? Streetligth is now saying in this thread that he never tried to make Mist4ke to be a superstar, so I´m going to guess he does not care too much on what happens to Mist4ke, he is in Davos now with Maxwell. When Maxwell retire,  new recreate comes in.

 

STZ is the GM of New York, team that is fairly surely not going to fight for the cup at least during this season, now he gets to enjoy best of both worlds, chasing the cup with DeGrath, but still also being huge part in rebuild with the GM player. In the past the GM player would have been DeGrath, right? Now he is in Davos, in a roster that looks like stronger than Americans roster. Americans could have maybe used DeGrath more than Davos even though NY has Kopralkov? No?

 

What was the reason for the 2nd player system? Was it not to increase the competition between teams?  I´m not seeing it, all I see is players having their fun and league gaining very little.   I don´t know what happens behind closed doors, but instead of focusing and worrying about adding new users into VHL,  why not put some thought to the users who are already here, terrible system.

Threencarnacion only wants to be a backup. That's why they send me and not him. Also after Maxwell, I'm not creating another player. The only reason I made mist4ke was to have some fun on the side while focusing on Maxwell.

What? STZ was already debating on trading for Degrath to be the GM player and not recreating at all with Unassisted. But that would of been another "forced" trade, and I believe they couldn't figure things out. Or more appropriately Smarch was able to acquire Snatch in a previous deal, so STZ wisely didn't want to waste Degraths time. He had a player to recreate with Unassisted. Even without two player it isn't like Degrath would of been STZ's GM. Never. Because Degrath WAS his 2nd player. There is no way this shakes out unless STZ doesn't rebuild and Smarch doesn't get Snatch that somehow New York ends up with Degrath. Because if worse can to worse STZ would of just retired Degrath and used his recreate, it made no sense keeping Degrath in the rebuild for NY. 

 

As for that being reasons why the two player system is shit. I really don't see the argument here. Players needs/interests have always been a dynamic situation, having it interlope with a 2nd player isn't really breaking the system. And I refuse to use the @punkhippie trades as evidence of anything. This guy isn't going to be GM for much longer, and he even knows it. When you make it your personal mission to ruin a team in the interest of trying to bring the league down you probably won't last long at a position. Nor are you any means an example of how effective a system is.

We recognized we were short on players, and it ended up being as anyone at the top will tell you a band-aid solution to what would ultimately be contraction. Something some have already brought back up again. But that is neither here nor there. We've had examples of Project Two creating two elite players, creating players that aren't elite. GM's are only know finding how that affects the market, and clearly the amount of goalies in the league is a change. But none of it has broken anything really. Things have gone on as competitively historically as they pretty much always have. Maybe save for a team or two in terms of competition. But usually we've always had anywhere from 3-5 legitimate competitive teams. Even pre-expansion. And if you want to make arguments that well it's the same teams winning Cups, that has always been the case. Even before project two. It has to do with GM's, and a little bit of luck. But most teams with quailty GM's even if they didn't get the Game 7 final win still were competitive for proper eras, winning playoff series etc. 

 

The dynamic you think we'd remove by getting rid of Project Two wouldn't be removed. That is and has always been there. Good GM's using the markets and leverage they have to take advantage.

Maybe less likely. But in this case, I think Ay Ay Ron would have still gone to Helsinki as that was the best offer (regardless three or four first round picks). At the time, I never thought to have boubabi suffer here for a year or two the flip him for more worth.

But usually we've always had anywhere from 3-5 legitimate competitive teams. Even pre-expansion. And if you want to make arguments that well it's the same teams winning Cups, that has always been the case. Even before project two. It has to do with GM's, and a little bit of luck. But most teams with quailty GM's even if they didn't get the Game 7 final win still were competitive for proper eras, winning playoff series etc. 

 

The dynamic you think we'd remove by getting rid of Project Two wouldn't be removed. That is and has always been there. Good GM's using the markets and leverage they have to take advantage. 

If STZ retired Unassisted, isn´t Degrath his first player then, the new guy is the 2nd?  I´m also having hard time believing STZ and Stockholm were not be able to make a deal for DeGrath. If they tried to, a fair deal could have been done. For the whole league there is two better options than now, Degrath is STZ´s GM player or he retires Degrath as well and makes the new guy to be his GM player.

 

This deal can be put into the same category as few others, the Helsinki- Calgary dealings are the worst, but this is in the same alley.  Small group gets to enjoy themselves, when rest of the league is holding hands and watching them go for it, also at the same time wondering what is ´wrong´ with VHL, what we could do to bring new users in, what we could do to make them stay active.

 

I would have honestly prefered to get rid of few teams and try that first before doing this 2nd player system but like always it´s easy to judge after everything is said and done, but as a regular user I see very little good and positive in the 2nd player system.

I think Riga/NewYork or Toronto would have picked Boubabi up. If you skip him and choose someone else because you know he will test free agency or want out after little while.

I would argue blatantly making bad trades to help your other player is 100 percent a valid reason to get fired but it's not up to me

 

it's not any different than if two friends irl got together to tank a team. It ruins the stability of the league.
