stevo reacted to Daniel Janser in Kurt Janser's VHLM (mis)adventures
    Swiss Central Gazzette

Our Canadian correspondent Jean-Luc Lieuxperroux had a chance to talk to Kurt Janser, GM of the Mississauga Hounds after the VHLM dispersal draft.

JLL: 'Kurt, you were GM for the Team World in the WCoH. What are your thoughts now, with a little distance to this event?`'
KJ: 'The whole team was hyped and we really wanted to go the whole nine yards and believed in ourselves to be able to compete for gold. This confidence was justified by our performance in the round Robin where we practically curbstomped the other teams. Maybe we got too cocky after that and stopped to do the little things right when we lost the semifinal as well as the Bronzegame. Hockey is a fast game on a slippery surface and it does not take much to lose a game which you should win. It is a thin red line between confidence and arrogance, and we may have overstepped the line. Maybe we have used up our puck-luck in the round Robin already. I still believe this team was good enough to win it all, but we need to acknowledge that in the respective games, our opposition was better. I just feel sorry for the players who had their last swing to lay hands on the World Cup.'
JLL: 'The Hounds had a lot of picks this offseason. Please talk us through them if you will.'
KJ: 'I think we drafted well. We picked Adison Bond with our first pick. I did not think that he would still be available come draft time, but when I saw him on the board, I just could not pass on the opportunity. However, in the meantime, Kaleeb and Adison contacted me and asked me to release Adison to play in the VHLE. As much as I hate to lose a player like Adison, I think it is in his best interest if he can compete on a higher level. So with a heavy heart, but with confidence to do the right thing, we decided to release him and wish him best of luck for his stint with the Red Wolves.
With Bryzgalov we got a very solid netminder who will give us a fighting chance every match. Carson Hound was too good to pass on, too. And if we consider that he is Swiss and his name I simply could not NOT draft him. He will be a pillar in our defence core. With Justice we brought in a promising young center who will make his way into the big show sooner rather than later. Finck, Suzuki, Nash and Machine are repeated offenders and we love to bring them back to Mississauga. Clark, Mortis, Cobberson, Kelly, Payne, Smith and Slotter were drafted based on positional needs, some of them will be ready (or are expected to be ready) for the VHLE next season, others will take some more development time. We are happy to have gotten them all and hope they enjoy their time in Mississauga and that we can prepare them for their further career.'
JLL: 'Okay, thanks Kurt for your statement, and good luck for the season.'
    KJ: 'Thanks, take care Jean-Luc.'

i'll say this as someone actually living in Berlin: neither options are quite representative for the city. Germany's steel industry was located (or is, there's not much left though) on the opposite side of the country in the Ruhr area and foxes... well i haven't seen too many of them

    1) Valentine's Day is coming up! What presents are you getting for your coaches?
Lots of alcohol to get them so drunk they'll have to promise me to play me all 60 minutes of ice time.
    2) How are you going to spend the weekend?
Just kicking back, playing some games on the console and breath in some fresh cigarette smoke.
    3) What is more important, scoring a goal, or blocking a shot?
I rarely do both, so I would any of the two.
    4) If you had to be an animal for a day, what would you pick?
A coala. Sleep for 23 hours, eat for the remainder of the day. Doesn't get any better than this.
    5) Give me your best impression of Rayz.
"Go do your presser you lazy folks!"
    7) What is your biggest sports fear?
A career-ending injury and the Knicks losing R.J. Barrett.

stevo got a reaction from Cornholio in Ron World Peace III rant....just kidding, who cares ha
VHLM defenseman Ron World Peace III is enjoying a quiet season with the Minnesota Storm up in the cold north of the USA. The team has experienced a massive haul in last summer's VHLM draft and is filled to the brink with exceptional depth on all positions. World Peace himself is fulfilling his assigned duty as a second line defensive specialist who tries to be in the right place at the right time on the ice.

"I know that I'm not prolific in any branch of the game - I don't record many hits, I don't put up spectacular point per game numbers but I just try to do all the little things that we need in order to win," World Peace III said after Minnesota defeated Ottawa 8-6. The Storm lead the Western Conference after the latest batch of games in comfortable fashion, nine points ahead of the Philadelphia Reapers.

The son of former Cologne Express mainstay Ron World Peace - who had his jersey retired by the now defunct franchise - also enjoys playing with forward That Dude. Both players' agencies go back a long way in other leagues. Scouts have picked up on the chemistry between the two and call it tremendous.

stevo got a reaction from Mr_Hatter in Minnesota Storm Press Conference Questions
    1) Who has been the most important offensive contributor in our squad this season?
I'm not an expert, but I'll guess Jankowski?
    2) What about defensive?
    Moore and our goalie
    3) Are hot dogs a sandwich?
Is the sky blue? But honestly, no they're not.
    4) Who is your pick for VHLM MVP trophy this season based off performances so far?
Jankowski, because he's the man no doubt!
    5) How many, if any, awards do you think Minnesota players will win?
I have no clue, honestly. We've got brilliant depth so I'll just say we'll pick up a couple or four.
    6) Which would you prefer, do keep the game winning puck from the final game in a cup final, or hoist the cup first?
First I'll hoist the trophy, then I'll steal the dang thing so you will never see it again!
