Season 66 MOCK VHLM Dispersal Draft

    Written By: rjfryman Nashville, TN
Real draft will be April 28th, 2019

    Round 1:
    1st: Philadelphia Reapers
    Rusty Shackleford
Rusty is a stud of a Defenseman who has written an Article about staying in the VHLM for one more season. He may move up but if he talked with Philly and ensures that he will stay down he could easily be the 1st overall in this VHLM Draft
2nd:  Mexico City Kings (From Las Vegas Aces)
    Aleksander Rodriguez
Along with Rusty Aleksander wrote an article as well. Aleksander is a well rounded checking forward that can lead a team with that tough physical presence that is often needed in the post season.
    3rd:  Ottawa Lynx
    Rhys Chism
Rhys is a scoring center that Ottawa can use since they lost every Center to the VHL.
    4th:  Saskatoon Wild
    Rayz Funk
A Goalie who is going to be drafted in the VHL in season 67. He is the second top goalie prospect in this draft but He most likely will eclipse the other Goalie rather quickly.
    5th:  Yukon Rush
    Aston Martin
Another S67 prospect. Aston is a Center prospect that will help lead Yukon to hopefully a great season.
6th:  Saskatoon Wild (From Houston Bulls)
    Beau Buefordsson
Saskatoon is in need of Defense and Beau is the second best D in this draft behind Rusty. Beau should be hitting the 200 mark shortly after the season starts which is why he will be picked up early.
7th:  Philadelphia Reapers (From Halifax 21st)
    Bjorn Scoringsonn
Another S67 Prospect who is tearing up the prospect pool in this VHLM. Bjorn is tearing up at training camp and is tied with Rayz with overall skill from S67.
8th:  Saskatoon Wild (From Minnesota Storm)
    Kevin Low
Saskatoon needs all the defense they can get and Kevin Low will be a rock on the blue line.
    9th:  Mexico City Kings
    Wrike Chyrnoble
All of the Expansion Teams need goalies and at this point Wrike is probably a great bet with him 116 TPE with a season 67 draft day.
    10th:  San Diego Marlins
    Kolur Bjoernsson
San Diego doesn't have the luxury of getting a hot S67 goalie prospect but they will totally be ok with getting Kolur since he is 40 TPE from maxing. He should hit that early in the season leaving San Diego with plenty of time with a great backstop.
    11th:  Mississauga Hounds
    Juan Jaundice
The 4th Goalie picked in this draft and that is due to the fact that many teams need a solid goalie right now in this draft. Teams will either go and trade for one or draft one early.
    12th:  Philadelphia Reapers
    Phil Marleau
Philly has many picks in this draft and with that luxury They are going to go for the top Center in S67
    Round 2:
    13th:  Philadelphia Reapers
    Edgar Tannahill
Edgar is the top LW in this draft and Philly with Edgar still on the board it is an easy choice to sure up their LW position
14th:   Mississauga Hounds (From Ottawa Lynx)
    Kevin Low
Mississauga needs everything and Kevin Low is a great Defensive prospect that will make sure they don't crash and burn this starting season
    15th:  Saskatoon Wild
    Boomer Kuwanger
Another S67 D who will be a great piece for any team but Saskatoon will be lucky to get him if he is still on the board.
16th:  San Diego Marlins (From Las Vegas Aces)
    ACL TEAR
quik creating a RW is just what San Diego and this draft needs. There are actually a small number of great RW's in this draft
17th:  Mexico City Kings (From Yukon Rush)
    Brendan James Lawn
Mexico seeking Defense will be glad to get Brendan to help lead this defense to be good from the start.
18th:  Minnesota Storm (From Houston Bulls)
    Anthony Amberback
Might not be a S67 Defense but Anthony should sure up Minnesota's blue line and max out well before the playoffs. We might be seeing Minnesota Again but From where Im looking it will be a much tougher road this season.
19th:  Philadelphia Reapers (From Halifax 21st)
    Edward Vigneault
Philly should really do well this season, they have many draft picks and with Edward on the blue line Philly should have a rock solid team this season.
20th:  Yukon Rush (From Minnesota Storm)
    Mat Tocco
Yukon needs winger and Mat is the second best RW in this draft. I would be shocked if he made it this far but when I was trying to get team needs Mat feel a lot more than he should. He is a week maybe less from maxing and will have a killer season in the VHLM.
21st:  Minnesota Storm (From Mexico City Kings)
    Lucas Nygren
Minnesota will be getting a steal with Lucas since they need a center and Advantage will be tearing it up and quickly jumping up with the TPE this season
    22nd:  San Diego Marlins
    Boris the Forest
San Diego still has almost an open depth chart and one of the best positions to get since its harder to get good ones is center and Boris being a S67 hopefully will continue to grow and quickly surpass some of the centers still on the board.
    23rd:  Mississauga Hounds
    Vladimir Pavlov
Mississauga might not get Vladimir at this point in the draft but if they do they will be rather lucky
    24th:  Ottawa Lynx (From VHL)
    Emil Passerelli
Ottawa traded down but in this draft it does not look like it will hurt them with a player like Emil still on the board and will not be upset dropping a few positions and still snagging a player like Emil.
    Round 3:
25th:  Halifax 21st (From Philadelphia Reapers)
    Greg Eagles
26th:  Las Vegas Aces (From Ottawa Lynx)
    Samuel Sparrow
    27th:  Saskatoon Wild
    Tormund Giantsbane
28th:  Philadelphia Reapers (From Las Vegas Aces)
    Pascal Batz
29th:  San Diego Marlins (From Yukon Rush)
    Hulk Hogan
    30th:  Houston Bulls
    John Frostbeard
31st:  Yukon Rush (From Halifax 21st)
    Cody Smith
    32nd:  Minnesota Storm
    Devin Gabella
    33rd: Mexico City Kings
    Cody Parkey
    34th:  San Diego Marlins
    Guillaume Fontenette
    35th:  Mississauga Hounds
    Andrei Mikhailov
    Round 4:
    36th:  Philadelphia Reapers
    Duncan Jeffers
37th:  Philadelphia Reapers (From Ottawa Lynx)
    Brandon LeBlanc
38th:  Mississauga Hounds (From Saskatoon Wild)
    Dean Clarke
39th:  Philadelphia Reapers (From Las Vegas Aces)
    BALLS McZehrl
    40th:  Yukon Rush
    Dan Gles
41st:  Ottawa Lynx (From Houston Bulls)
    Eeli Harju
42nd:  Philadelphia Reapers (From Halifax 21st)
    Sami Van Den Dreissche
43rd: Ottawa Lynx (From Minnesota Storm)
    Srraxxarrakex II
44th:  Minnesota Storm (From Mexico City Kings)

    Houston Bulls GM: YOURE HIRED!

With the draft only a few short days away, we want to give Houston's new GM as much time as possible to settle into the new role and prepare. We had an incredible amount of quality members apply for the position - making it very difficult to decide on one single name. Unfortunately, we must and not everyone can be hired. With that being said, the newest GM in Houston Bull's history - a seemingly great up and coming member who I've watched grow into a strong contributor amongst the boards and discord LR's...

Small Announcement: Halifax 21st GM Position

As most know by now, @McWolf has stepped away from the world of sim leagues for at least right now. He was an amazing member who contributed in so many ways for the VHLM and VHL. He'll absolutely be missed and I hope to see him pop in one of these days. Now a replacement must be named (and already essentially was by Mcwolf during the season - we just need to make it official)...

    ECN Draft Interviews

ECN draft interviews is a way how to understand what draftees want in their future teams and what are their expectations for the next season.  This time we are looking at one of the best defensive defencemen coming into VHL this season - Charlie Paddywagon. His skill defensively was highly recognised in VHLM this season. With defence rating at 90, he was second in blocked shots in VHLM. For blocked shots, you could make an argument that his second place (Charlie Paddywagon 119 / Basaraba Moose 120) is not really accurate because of his far lower average ice time.
    Questions
    - First off, thanks for agreeing to this interview. How would you rank your first season? -
    - Thank you for interviewing me. To be honest with you, I'm not overly thrilled with my first season. Getting traded to Las Vegas and then getting ousted in the Wild Card round of the playoffs was not an ideal way to end the season. Now I'm dealing with this investigation, which I'm not allowed to discuss so thank you for not asking any questions about it. It's been different than how I imagined my first season of professional hockey. As a hockey player, I think I had a year of great growth. It took me a little bit of time to get caught up to the speed of the game in the VHLM, but by the end of the year, I felt very comfortable on the ice. I think my play reflected that. At times, I was so comfortable on the ice, I actually felt like the leader of the team out there.
    - Who was the biggest influence to you on your first season? -
    - Personally, my dad has been a huge influence. I know he's in prison and I'll be the first to admit that I hated him for a long time growing up. Now that I've gotten a little bit older, I've come to respect the fact he maintains a strong will and a good attitude even after all these years in prison. I know that he loves me and wants the best for me. I'm able to see his internal strength and use that to keep me focused on succeeding in my life. From a hockey perspective, GM Blade and the entire Reaper organization really did a great job of welcoming me into this league. I think that was a huge part of my growth and success this rookie year. Without them, I don't think I'd be going to the VHL this year.
    - Now to the current draft. Which are the teams that you would like to join in VHL after the draft? -
    - I don't have favourite teams. I simply want to play in the VHL, it doesn't matter for whom.
    - In the end, what do you believe will future bring for you and what is that you want to say to GM's looking at you as a potential draft pick? -
    - My goal is to be a contributing player on a team that wins multiple championships. I think GMs know what they're getting when they draft me. A strong defensive defenseman that plays all out every game, with no exceptions. If you pick me, you'll have a reliable leader on the blue line.
    - Thanks for the interview, we at ECN hope you will have the best time at the upcoming VHL Draft. -
    - Thanks!

A great talent s entering this year's draft and we at ECN truly hope that many of the players will be able to achieve greatness in VHL and be able to meet all their expectations.

    ECN Draft Interviews

ECN draft interviews is a way how to understand what draftees want in their future teams and what are their expectations for the next season. This interview features a very popular guy on VHL forums and a phenomenal player who took VHLM by storm and now is hoping to be one of the top draft picks in the upcoming VHL draft - Julius Freeman. Julius Freeman finished the season with 100 points in 72 games. He was 9th in the league in points category and lead Halifax to VHLM Finals losing only to overstacked Minnesota Storm.

    Questions
    - First off, thanks for agreeing to this interview. How would you rank your first season? -
    - Thank you for reaching out to me I'm a big fan of the ECN and look forward to seeing it continue to grow and thrive for years to come. I would rank my first season as a great first season. Without knowing anyone in this league I was picked up by Halifax after the draft and was treated with great respect and patience by my GM and AGM on the team. They helped me quickly get acclimated to the league and showed me everywhere I needed to go to learn as much as I could as quickly as I could. When I showed how determined I was they gave me First line responsibilities even though I was new and had no claim to them. In the locker room, I was named assistant captain by my peers. I lead the team in the regular season with 40 goals 60 assists and 100 points. Our team made it to the finals and we put up a hell of a fight and even though we lost I could not be more proud of our team. I could be harder on myself in not showing up to where I should have been in the playoffs but honestly, it's hard to play against a team where their third line has an equal skill as our second line. I played my heart out and I know my team did as well. Sometimes you don't win though, and it's not always about the result but how you played. Everyone on our team played well.
    - Who was the biggest influence to you on your first season? -
    - Ohh that's a tough one since there are really a number of people. First I have to say McWolf who believed in me and trusted me with time on the ice and his personal time helping me grow and learn the league. Thranduil who showed me that standing up for the people learning is what the VHLM is all about and what we need to strive to do. SirRupertBarnes who showed me how to lead a locker room and be apart of a team and encourage a team to grow together. HHH who was always at the top of the draft ranking and showed me what it takes to be the guy. Every single one of them pushed me either directly or indirectly to be hopefully one of the best first Generation Players in this draft.
    - Now to the current draft. Which are the teams that you would like to join in VHL after the draft? -
    - Ohh I would love to play for any team willing to pick me and trust me... Ohh you want a better answer than the canned answer all draft picks give. Ok, There are a couple of teams that look more interesting to me than others. Vancouver seems like it could be a good fit. I could make the argument that I could get some first line time with some great players in Beau Louth and Jake Davis. That is if I can beat Konstantin Mulligan in training camp. Malmo could be a good fit, I'm not sure if I'll still be on the board when they pick but who wouldn't want to be on a team to make history for a franchise.
-In the end, what do you believe will future bring for you and what is that you want to say to GM's looking at you as a potential draft pick? -
    - I am not sure what the draft will bring for me and what will be my lot in the league. All I know is what I can and will do. I have taken advantage of every opportunity I can in order to get to where I am and I will continue to do so as long I still have a career on a team. I am a hard worker who will do my best to push toward the front of the pack and hopefully someday I will be known as one of the best players in this draft.
-Thanks for the interview, good luck in the draft!
    -Thanks for asking questions!

    ECN Draft Interviews

ECN draft interviews is a way how to get to understand what they want in their future teams and what are their expectations for the next season. This time we are looking at one of the most promising new players coming to VHL in the upcoming draft. High TPE and great personality are all the things you need in your team, so get yourself some Jet Jaguar. His season in VHLM was quite rocky. He finished his season with 57 points in 70 games played. That wasn't the best season by a landslide but his abilities were well recognised by Philadelphia and Halifax.

    Questions

    - First off, thanks for agreeing to this interview. How would you rank your first season? -
    - Thanks for having me! I personally was pretty disappointed with my first season. I felt that I was finding my game with Philadelphia and then after the trade to Halifax, I really felt my level of play drop. My production wasn't there for the second half of the season or the playoffs.  I am proud to have made it to the VHLM finals with Halifax, but I feel like I had a bad series and was part of the reason we lost to Minnesota in the finals.
    - Who was the biggest influence to you on your first season? -
    - Hmm, good question. I had many GMs and teammates who helped me out through my first season. I'd say the biggest help was probably my first VHLM GM, BladeMaiden. She ran an active locker room that was fun to be apart of and she also made it easy to stay up-to-date on training & tpe opportunities. She didn't scythe my head off either, which was good!
    - Now to the current draft. Which are the teams that you would like to join in VHL after the draft? -
    - I would be happy to join any VHL team, to be honest. If a team is willing to show faith in me by selecting me in the draft. I will gladly play for them. If I had to choose my favourites though, I would go with Moscow or Malmo. I would love to be a part of a new franchise and help create some history in the VHL.
    - In the end, what do you believe will future bring for you and what is that you want to say to GM's looking at you as a potential draft pick? -
    - I am now on my third career player in the VHL, and hope to make Jet Jaguar my best player yet. My goal is to somehow make the VHL Hall of Fame, which has eluded me thus far.  I've won numerous Continental Cups with my previous players, but individual awards have always seemed to evade me. I'd just like to make this goal clear to any GMs looking to draft me. I plan to stay 100% active through the career of Jaguar, to hopefully get him inducted into the VHL Hall of Fame one day.
    - Thanks for the answers, good luck in the draft! -
    - Thanks for the questions!

We at ECN wish Jet Jaguar (Gorlab) a great upcoming draft and let's hope the team that will draft him will use him and help on his way to Hall of Fame!

    ECN Draft Interviews

ECN draft interviews is a way how to get to understand what they want in their future teams and what are their expectations for the next season. This time we shall interview one of the new stars of this league, a player that is widely loved by his optimism and positive attitude, John Frostbeard. For a bit of a backstory of how his first season in VHLM went - He was picked up on waivers by GM Blade and Philadelphia Reapers where he spent a big chunk of time at the start until he was traded to  Yukon Rush where he was pushed to play on the 1st line with VHLM star Hunter Hearst Helmsley. He finished his season with 69 points in 72 games played being almost a point-a-game.
    Questions

    - You had an amazing 1st season in VHLM. How would you rank your first season? -
    - First off, thanks for inviting me to this interview. Secondly, I feel that my first season was a great accomplishment for a guy that really didn't know what to expect in VHLM. At first, I was quite scared but in general, it was a great feeling to go on the ice with amazing players and teammates. Statistically, I performed up to my expectations as I wanted to be close to point-per-game. I do have to say that 69 points total is a great number to start with.
    - Who has the biggest influence on your first season? -
    - I believe there are 4 people I looked up to this first season, definitely, my first GM Blade, constant pushing to become great and guidance through my first steps in VHLM was incredibly important. Tyler Barabash Jr and his skill really allowed me to have a great start of the season and understand what I was doing wrong and what were my problems. Hunter Hearst Helmsley is another teammate that influenced me and made me understand how you can transfer your own greatness and give it to others by showing leadership. Mikko Aaltonen is another guy that I knew for a long time and we kinda clicked from the start and it just grew to a bit of a friendship so his moral support was necessary and I will surely call him if necessary. But in general - everyone, from teammates, to staff, to all the other amazing people that were involved in my development, thanks, everyone.
    - Now to the current draft. Which are the teams that you would like to join in VHL and VHLM after the draft? -
    - This is no easy question, but for me, it is quite simple to answer right now. Time will tell. I am yet grasping and making my first steps here so I don't really want to jump. But I can tell you all that howling and prancing are two things I like to do. And when it comes to VHLM, yes, you have maybe heard rumours that I want to stay for another season in VHLM and that is very true. I feel like it is gonna help me understand the game a bit more and allow me to be more competitive in VHL next season. There, I really want to go to a familiar place and be able to bring some magic to the locker room.
    - In the end, what do you believe will future bring for you and what is that you want to say to GM's looking at you as a potential draft pick? -
    - I hope I can bring cups and victories, personal achievements are nice, but consistency and ability to be a leader is the most important for me. And to other GM's, you have to ask around and see what they think I can bring to the table. I am passionate and I know that any team that will pick me up, will not regret having me in their lineup.
    - Thanks for the interview, good luck in the draft! -
    - Thanks for giving me an opportunity to be on ECN.

Im personally a fan of the Vancouver Wolves. It is simple yet bold, with a good color palette. You know what it is and it does a good job at making it work.
Julius Freeman is a brunette but it is darker than most other brunettes.
Julius always has a book of logic puzzles in his bag and it has so many scribbles on it since he uses it before every game and in intermission. He believes if he can use logic puzzles to keep him sharp and use it to exploit other teams weaknesses.
Colored grip tape YES, colored tape for my toe and blade Nope. I have no problem with color on my hands its a cool way to express how I feel but I cannot deal with anything other than white on my blade b/c I try not to look down at all and when I do I need to do it quik, any other color doesn't help me the way white tape does.
He likes to go an crank up the music and play his synth pop female artist playlist every overtime. starting with Bulletproof by La Roux and ending with Remedy by Little Boots
Remedy by Little Boots starting around 1:30 and lasting around 30 seconds.

Honestly this is how everything was done years ago before the VHL opened and I can honestly say we never would have survived 12 years doing it this way. As many faults as STHS has it makes simming and updating incredibly simple which is its saving grace. @Beaviss can comment as to how much effort it is just to put together the all-star game in EA let alone how much work it would be to aim every game that way. It’s just too much required in the updating and simming department vs. A few button clicks like we do now. The visual is nice but it doesn’t add enough to be worth it.

    With that said.

We we are running a lot of extra tournaments these days. World Juniors every year as well as the WC and Sponsor’s Shield on alternating years. While it wouldn’t represent perfectly accurate numbers for these compared to STHS (does anyone really care?) it could be an interesting way to have those extra tournaments.

I just don’t think in this day and age it’s reasonable to have sims take that much effort when systems can be, and are, in place to make things much easier than they were 12 years ago. Every sim league regardless of sport has moved away from EA games for the same reason: it’s too much work for the reward.
