Review: As a native American, I feel obligated to hate this post lol. Hmmmm some bolding and underline looked good for this article and it was sweet and short. Wait no, Europe are delusional people thinking to win again my beloved country so this article is not valid! (Im joking) Anyway, I hope we will see more news around this article and am hoping the best for this team

It's funny to see when I said I would become a FA. We all know I got a lot of negative feedbacks, then there are some people who are wondering why people aren't tempted to do it.

A great article and it actually follows up everything that I have done so far lol, but I believe leading a expansion VHLM team into the playoff should have more credit with 9 GWG?  (You nay not know, but our superstar goalie didn't play the first 3 games because of some issues) and psttt edit that I was on team USA when they got that medal  (Btw you should contact @studentized for some advanced stats, he's a great dude. It seems that I don't really have a lot of ice time somehow in the sim lol. I had like around 950 minutes so far and the others already had almost 1200 like a week ago)

At the end of the day, this article summary was spot on and you should do more for other players 'cuz it's fun to read (idk if you're and ready doing it) HHH next!

    Aleksander Rodriguez
    Position: RW
    Age: 16
    Height: 6'5"
    Weight: 205 lb.
    TPA: 511
VHL Draft: 3rd round, 24th OA to Riga
VHLM Draft: 1st round, 2nd OA to Mexico City

Tonight on the Roger Pennies Show™, we fulfill a popular request, reviewing the top scoring forward on the New York Americans, the American born Aleksander Rodriguez. Let's begin.

During Rodriguez's two year stint in the VHLM, he skated for two different teams. In S65, his first VHLM season, he skated for Ottawa scoring 24 goals and assisting on 35 for 59 points in his first 72 games. In his second year, drafted to Mexico, he played much better ending the year with 36 goals and assisting on 54 for 90 pts. The team made it to the postseason, but fell short, as did his performance, with 3 pts in 5 games. He managed a 1.03 PPG average during his VHLM years.

By the time he had reached the skill to become a VHL player, he had already been traded to New York in a package deal with picks that would become Derek England and Ryo Yamazuki II, as a part of the New York American's plot that offseason to tear their team down and rebuild. In his first VHL year, he managed to score 17 goals and assist on 25 for 42 pts in 72 games for the Americans. In the following (and current) year, he has managed to score 17 goals and assist on 36 for 53 pts, in 58 games. So far in his VHL career he has managed a 0.73 PPG average, managing to be 30th of 153 for total points, and 2nd on his team behind defenseman Guy Legrand, a player who is a year less experienced than him. Additionally, he is 4th in New York goalscoring, two players also a year less experienced than him, one himself who is a rookie, and one who is a second-year VHL player alike Rodriguez. He is certainly not a goalscorer, and one may wonder whether the goalscoring stats on his team are a product of him, or if his playmaking stats are a product of them. There are other questions to be asked aswell, such as the availability of icetime to this player, or if the quality of his opponents has spiked his production, which it may have done to many North American Conference teams. Not to discredit Rodriuguez, however, as he is indeed 30th in league scoring.

Six players from S66 or S67 have more points than him, and twelve in total have more points than him OR five less points than him. This makes him right in the middle of the active S66/S67 pack which altogether isn't all that special. Fan's of the league may look more towards his out-competing S66 Counterparts, or his S67 colleagues who are catching up to, or have outright surpassed him with a year less experience, but it also seems like he will be a reliable middle 6 forward who will never require the top paycheck the likes of his teammate Legrand may ask for one day. This means he can still be a valuable asset, or trade bait, though for which team he will play for next year is up in the air, as Rodriguez has stated, rather emotionally, his intentions to not return to New York and hit the free agency market.

ThePerfectNut reacted to Dalton Wilcox in New York Americans Press Conference Questions
    1. A recent string of losses, being outscored 16-6, how do you keep morale high?
There's nothing a great night out on the town can't fix, courtesy of Mr. Wilcox.

    2. 47 games into the season defenseman Guy LeGrande leads the Americans in points, does this push forwards to preform better or is LeGrande just that good?
I'm pretty sure he's just that good.  As a forward, it does push me to try to be better, especially as he's the same draft year as me.

    3. VHL rookies Dalton Wilcox and Lance Flowers lead both Goals and Assists respectively (not counting LeGrande), do you think one of them takes home Rookie of the Year?
It's definitely a rivalry between me and Lance.  We push each other to be the best we can be, but hopefully I get it

    4. A Red Guy has recently stepped up to the plate at goaltender, with nearly identical SV% and GAA to Gunnarsson, does his improved game garner confidence for the rest of the roster?
Absolutely.  With great goaltending, it gives you a chance to win every night.  I'm looking forward to him being one of the best goaltenders in the VHL.

    5. With such a young, inexperienced core, who shows the most leadership on and/or off the ice?
Rodriguez has been great as a linemate.  On my off games, he always has the right thing to say to keep my morale up.  He also sets me up for a lot of my goals which is nice.

    6. With 11 roster players eligible for WJC, are tensions higher than usual as national competition picks up?
Definitely.  Having won gold at the last WJC as part of team world, anything can happen.  Everyone doubted us, not many chose us to finish even in the top 3, yet we won the whole damn thing.

ThePerfectNut got a reaction from Elmebeck in Last year of my pro contract...what next?
After a disappointing 6-0 lost against the Seattle Bears. Some reporters approached Aleksander Rodriguez after the game and asked him about his thoughts on the trade deadline in a couple of days. This is what he had to say about it...

A.Rodriguez: Welp a year ago, I asked to be traded to NY and become somewhat important in there rebuild, but I was told that I was now on the trading block just because I wasn't thinking of extending my contract this year and I felt like there were some players who deserved more recognition that didn't got them because of some specific player. I'm not totally shocked because I was once abandoned by that GM when I was in the VHLM and I guess history repeats itself yet again. People will never change.

A reporter from ESPN: What if you were indeed getting traded. Which team do you think you will end up too? And if not, would you stay here in NY?

A.Rodriguez: That's a funny question. I don't really care which team I end up to because I'm fully going to become an FA after this season so I don't want them to lose value for a player that will just walk away. I already had two teams in my mind that I won't say because I'm not trying to get fined, but at the end of the day I will sign to a team where I feel like I can be appreciated, good line management and just being happy in the locker room. Aight boys, I still have a lot of games this season so I don't want to think about FA just now. I'm having a really good year even though I'm not given the proper assets to succeed, but I will tough it out and contend for the Most Improved Player of the year and maybe squeeze into the Playoff? At the end of the day, I just want to win.

The end is near, thank God. It has been a fun season but with the end coming up fast, it will be a relief knowing that the pain will stop. Not easy to play on a team during a rebuild but it does have it's upside. The GM has a well laid out plan that should have us looking good in the future. My team mates are working hard to improve their skills and we have a winning attitude.

It's not like we are going to rollover and play dead. We will fight to the last minute of the last shift during the season. We can pull off some really impressive upsets from time to time. With our core still finding their way, it is only a matter of time before we run like a well oiled machine.

One thing for sure, we are here and coming for the top spot. Won't be this season obviously, but in a season or two, it's all out warfare. We have the guns and the leadership to make this happen. A great locker room that is full of excitement. What more could a player ask for?

I feel very proud to have to be able to play with such great talent. We will grow together and make this team great again.

New York - The New York Americans are a rebuilding team that really won’t compete for a few seasons. That said, they have a group of young men that most teams don’t and this is setting themselves up to return to the Playoffs and to contender status before too long. Those young men particularly are the three rookies on the backend led by their “veteran” presence in sophomore Guy LeGrande.

While they are very inexperienced, their talent potential is off the charts and should they stay together in the long term, will give New York a defence group most GM’s just dream about.  I took a long look into these four and will dive deep into each of the four players highlighting how they got there, where their potential is and their outlook on their season and careers ahead.

    Guy LeGrande @Steve
    7G 19A 26P 30.35MPG 10H 54S 55SB

The veteran presence of the defence core, Guy was originally drafted by the HC Davos but part way through his rookie season Guy was unsettled with the lack of ice time he was seeing and made a bold move requesting a trade. Davos, accepting this unfortunate reality found a trade partner and soon enough, Legrande was on his way to North America to play for New York.

As he took to the ice for his sophomore season, Guy was tasked with leading a very inexperienced group of defence. The team was going to struggle as they gained experience but Guy was guaranteed to get a boatload of minutes, something he wanted more than anything else.

Now even with an abundance of opportunity and a growing skill set Guy couldn’t have expected an absurd amount of success. Yet, here he is with a cool twenty-six points through twenty-one games! That’s absurd! New York has a special talent and a special person on their team and someone who will cornerstone their defence for seasons to come!

    Lance Flowers @CowboyinAmerica
    2G 16A 18P 28.91PPG 72H 36S 44SB

Lance Flowers was drafted second overall last season behind only the consensus top pick Condor Adrienne. Early in the year, Lance was actually leading in the discussions to be first overall pick in the S68 draft. Through no fault of his own, Lance eventually lost that title but what he didn’t lose is his talent and potential. New York got a gem here and is hoping to reap the rewards as soon as this year.

Having a defence group that really didn’t exist until the draft, Flowers comes into the New York organization being handed first line duties and a ton of ice time. He’s expected to be the physical presence on that pairing offering some grit and a ton of talent to complement the aforementioned LeGrande.  He would kill some penalties, play some big power play minutes and face top lines every game at even strength. That’s a lot to ask for of a rookie!

Facing top talent before he has a chance to grow into the VHL player he really wants to be would usually mean a rough year for any player put in this situation. Fortunately for New York, Lance isn’t just any player. Lance has bolted out of the gate to start his career, scoring near a point per game pace through twenty-one games, laying down some thunderous hits while being a plus player against the VHL’s best! If Lance can continue this production and keep this high a level of play, he is very likely to be considered for Rookie of the Year. This would be a great accomplishment, one of what Lance hopes can be many in his career ahead.

    Keven Foreskin @Esso2264
    3G 9A 12P 27.32MPG 73H 32S 51SB

Right in line with his teams rebuild, along comes Keven Foreskin, Esso’s GM player. Keven earned well through his one season in the VHLM to a point where he would have been a top ten pick in the S68 draft had he not been a GM Player. Keven has a solid all around build going currently that affords him good defence instincts, toughness and enough offence to contribute. Keven really has left it wide open to develop his career any way he chooses as time goes on.

Keven is the third stud defence behind LeGrande and Flowers and because he is a GM player, is a key defender in that he won’t be hard for the GM to please in regards to getting his fair share of ice time, role etc. Keven hopes to continue to develop into a steady defender as he is placed in a second pairing role.  He should still receive plenty of ice time all around on both special teams and at even strength.

Keven has come as advertised so far early in his career as he has contributed a respectable twelve points in his first twenty-one games.  He been a physical force on the back end with his seventy hits already, while also getting down to block fifty-one shots from reaching his goaltender. Keven has been a good value defender early on but will have to watch his tendency to take penalties as he currently sits at fifty penalty minutes on the year. It’s hard to contribute when you are in the box that often.

    Fredrik Elmebeck @Elmebeck
    1G 7A 8P 27.41MPG 9H 22S 25S

The last of the future core four, Fredrik is an exciting prospect in his own right.  Frederick was selected by New York with the ninth selection in the S68 draft and for good reason.  Frederick has the potential to develop into a smooth skating, offensive weapon on the back end while being dependable in his own zone.

Frederick will start his career on the second pairing along side Foreskin. He should receive plenty of minutes in his rookie season with no one pushing him from below in the depth chart. That’s not to say the ice time isn’t warranted, but Frederick at least won’t have that worry on his mind and can instead focus on improving his game as he continues to develop.

A solid start for Frederick to his rookie season has seen him score eight points already in twenty-one games. Frederick does not play a physical game however as he has just nine hits registered on the season.  As anticipated, he is receiving plenty of ice time at above twenty-seven minutes per game.  Frederick should continue to contribute from the back end as he is put in offensive situations which will allow him to finish his rookie season flashing his immense potential.

After looking closer at these four young defencemen, we can see how much potential New York really has on the back end. This is a team that has been set up well by @Esso2264.  It will be exciting to see how these four grow together and drive the future of this New York team.

On behalf of VSN and all the great writers there, it’s been my pleasure to bring the insight into the future.
