Once again I find myself in the shoes of an international general manager. I can no longer put to number how many times I have taken part in this or the World Junior tournaments but every single time it's a special privilege for me. I've been GMing in this league for something like 36 or 37 seasons consecutively now if you include my VHLM run and to think this could be my finale for international managing, we will see. Not really. Not because they weren't inherently surprising, but because I haven't paid attention to the VHLM in a long time.

No, I'm not. The VHLM has absolutely insane scoring sometimes. I'm assuming Minnesota was a lower seed because I recall Ottawa being good. That's one of the fun parts of the M, the ridiculous stats. Unless you're a goalie, then it sucks.

American Thanksgiving is alright depending on the way you celebrate it and who you celebrate it with. I have good memories of watching the parade and hanging out with my cousin when I was a kid but nowadays it's not nearly as fun to be honest.

overall, i appreciate that your article incorporates quotes from your player and some of your wisdom as a long-time user. I'm really glad that you included your potential prospect to be a goalie coach, because as someone who just created a goalie, i may bring back JPC, my lord and savior, to the league in my player's background. i also love the flex of personal stats and records. my only critique (if you can call it that) is that the graphic you chose isn't one of the bangin graphics you've made for yourself during your career. 10/10 great article, better career
 

Not how I wanted this to end, obviously, but it was a really great time being in Chicago with JPC and I'm glad we at least had a great regular season and a cup back in S76.

I know that I've just had a long, helpful conversation with some folks who have expressed concerns in this thread, but I wanted to make a public comment as well.
 
The mod team is continually working to be the best version that we can be. That means that we welcome constructive feedback that any member has to offer. If you have complaints, thoughts, or suggestions, please, feel free to reach out to any of us mods. I'm always happy to have a conversation with anyone who's willing to be patient and respectful.
 
I understand that reaching out to moderators, especially for people who have been victimized, can be a scary process–especially if you don't have a pre-established relationship with any of us. However, I took the moderator role because I care about the health of this league as well as the comfort and well-being of every member in it. I am happy to serve as a resource for any individual here, and I hope that this sentiment is not overlooked by the fact that words are just words.
 
Fong, Fresco, and I (and hopefully more people soon, pls apply if ur qualified) want to make the VHL better. That's a lot easier when members help us out by bringing things to our attention. If a situation arises, for example, in the discord that you think a mod should be looking at, ping the mod role. That's partially why we have the role in the first place. You can also always DM any of us that are online if you need something.
 
It only takes a few people to make the community feel unwelcoming. Hold your friends accountable, and bring situations to our attention if you feel that they were overlooked. Express your concerns with mods and staff. We are here, in these roles, not because we wanted to be able to meme mute people in the server, but because we want to help create a community that every one can safely enjoy.

The vhl is said to be a community safe for all people no matter gender, sexuality, race religion, etc. I however do not see this as being true. I'm here to focus on the one that has affected me most. Gender. It is no secret that the vhl is a majority cis male community. There is little diversity within that range. As a female in the vhl, I’ve slowly started to realize how big of an issue the vhl has with gender. After talking to some of the other few women in the vhl I have realized this is not something that is just affected me.
 
The vhl has a serious issue when it comes to female members being sexualized, objectified, and disrespected by other members of the community. I know multiple cases in the last weeks of this happening and although the action was taken in some cases in other cases it was not taken at all. Just because we are the opposite sex doesn’t mean we want sexual comments to be thrown at us from every which direction. It is not and will not ever be okay. Learn boundaries especially when people tell you to stop. If they say stop just stop it is not that hard to do. If you can’t handle that then you really shouldn't be online because that’s just messed up.
 
I'm sick and tired of seeing other women and myself being uncomfortable and little to nothing being done about it. A verbal warning will not do anything. Things like this should not be tolerated at all no matter how small it may seem to you, you are not the one who has to deal with it mentally. I will gladly talk to the commishs and other runners of the league to help this be changed. I want to stay in the vhl. I love it here but you push members away when they feel uncomfortable because of their gender. There all small actions so many members in this community can take to make it a better place for all.
 
I am not mad but rather disappointed and frustrated with this league with how they continue to handle these things. In a world where there is a push for consent and speaking out there isn't that here. People don't say anything because they know stuff wont be done about it or wont be handled in an appropriate manner. It needs to change. The Finals Await
 
Vasteras, Sweden -- Entering the playoffs, most observers didn't have high hopes for the Vasteras Iron Eagles. The team was backing into the playoffs, losing four of their last five and finishing just one point ahead of the Cologne Express for the final playoff spot. Their opposition in the Stockholm Vikings, meanwhile, had run away from the VHLE field in the final weeks to earn the one seed.
 
Inside the locker room, though, there was always a belief that the Iron Eagles could move on. And tonight, they did exactly that, winning 4-3 against the Vikings to advance to the finals. While the Iron Eagles did win some blowouts in this series, one by 8-0 and another by 6-0, this one was a nailbiter that required three Vasteras goals in the third period. That, says goalie Xavier Booberry, shows the team's resilience.
 
"It's clear this was a team effort. Without everybody playing their part, there's no way we win one, let alone this crazy comeback," Booberry said. "With that at our back, we really feel like this team can do anything."
 
It won't be easy though, with a second-seeded Rome Gladiators team that swept the first round in their way. For his part, Booberry's looking forward to facing off against Rome's Tobias Reinhart, the likely VHLE Goalie of the Year.
 
"He got me in the regular season, but anything can happen in the playoffs," Booberry said. "It's time to show everybody what we're made of."

Onions are SEVERELY underrated, not only on pizza but in food in general. They have to be combined with something else though, like sausage or green peppers.
 
Also I'm neutral on pineapple. Not personally my thing but I don't get the hate for it. I'd rather do pineapple than some other things.

The Chicago Phoenix have continued to roll through the season and have eclipsed the 100 point plateau. While they likely will not be winning the North American conference, as they have in the past, they will be going into the playoffs playing very well. Of note is Julian Nousiainen who has passed the 100 point mark for the second time in his career, having an incredible 118 points with five games still remaining. Matty Socks, lifetime member of the Chicago Phoenix, has also hit 100 points for the first time in their career with an extremely impressive 29 goals and 71 assists from the backend. Add to that 161 hits and 149 shot blocks and there is definitely a possibility for some post-season hardware coming their way.
 
While they have not been on the same kind of heater that saw them win 26 games straight at one point this season there is no doubt what the Chicago Phoenix have done this season has been very special and while they will be losing a large portion of their roster to retirement this offseason they can be proud of what they have done.

It’s that time of the season again. The trade deadline is here, and that means not only trades, but new prospects. Declarations have opened up for the Season 82 VHL draft class, and we’ve already seen some big names represented by respected agencies. It already appears to be a defense-heavy class, and one blueliner hoping to break out from the crowd is the Czech-born Milan Dvořák.  Represented by the Solas Agency, Dvořák is 19 years old and up until now was playing for Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga. He seems to be an intriguing prospect with a lot of raw ability, however scouts seems to be disagreeing over his long-term potential. 

Rumors suggest that Dvořák is close to signing a deal with the Yukon Rush which would see him play there for the rest of the season, however nothing has been officially announced or put to paper. It appears that the long-term plan will be to ease the young defenseman into things through both the VHLM and VHLE before he makes his way to the VHL itself. He also is unlikely to have any serious playing time in the VHLM before the draft comes up next season, so chances to see Dvořák in action before the draft could be rare.
