With the announcement of Evgeni being traded out of Moscow, much to his displeasure. Effective as soon as i can find out how to on portal, Evgeni Komarov will be retiring from professional hockey. It has been a wild ride, it all started with Vladimir Komarov who rose through the ranks and is still in Davos record books and the toughest bastard to play there. Then came Pavel Komarov he is still to this point my most disappointing player, i got overwhelmed as a first time GM, and neglected him he also switched positions at a bad time due to team need.

Then came my best player Sergei Komarov he was a force on both ends of the ice a product of all my best work. He was a special player who sadly never reached a good plateau because he was stuck in the era of some of the greatest TPE whore. Last up is Evgeni Komarov, the player i wanted to be got scrapped when a team in Russia finally happened. I turned away abit from being a true goon player to help the team win a cup.

I did it all for the team, sadly i had to go MIA with my first born being diagnosed with brain cancer its taken a toll on me my wife and daughter. Which led to the trade as i was a deadweight veteran.

I want to thank everyone, that has had a good impact on my time here. I apologize if i forget anyone.

    @STZ @Victor @CoachReilly@der meister@BluObieZ @Spade18 @gorlab

First of coachreilly you were my first ever GM with Davos its a shame we could never reach the top together. Took a gamble on a poor english speaking Russian.

Second Bluobiez you challenged me, part of me hates having caved to you cuz Davos maybe wouldnt have been a mess after pushing to keep you. But it made for a fun ride all the same that almost ended in a cup.

Third is STZ the guy who drafted me the highest ill ever go. Sadly we just like Rielly just could not get over the hump and win a cup together

4th is the duo of Spade and Der meister, probably the two teammates who stood out the most in my time. Probably cuz we came up in juniors together, then played most of our pro years together too. Sucks we got close but never hit the peek.

Next is victor i mainly thank you for finally getting russia back in the league. Shame we could never win a cup either seems to be a theme teams getting close but never winning.

Last is gorlab, you built a great player in jags and seemed motivated to be a top dog since joining keep it up.

For those i have forgotten to mention im sorry, many ive talked to some i helped shape there careers. I wish the VHL the best

As is League tradition, every off-season the VHL presents it's Hall of Fame induction. This season, and for hopefully the final time, the Board of Governors has decided that only one Player will be inducted, as opposed to the traditional 2 inductions each season.

    S24 Lemieux Trophy (Top Scorer)
    Three Continental Cups (S23, S24, S25)

43 seasons; that is how long Mathias Chouinard has been waiting for this. That is a lifetime by VHL standards and is over 8 times as long as Chouinard's undoubtedly magnificent career. In only 434 games Chouinard managed to put up over 600 points which is a feat many players can't manage in 8 seasons while also winning 3 consecutive continental cups before retiring on top. How long this induction took is showcased perhaps best by the fact that when Chouinard won his awards, a playoff MVP and top scorer trophy, they had not yet been renamed and still reflect the original names most people would no longer even recognize. Always a scoring threat at a time when scoring was sky high and a constant cup contender Mathias Chouinard finally joins the ranks of the VHL Hall of Fame.

RJ Jubis was just selected 5th overall by the Calgary Wranglers in the 1st round of the VHL Draft. Jubis was projected to go anywhere from 7th to 15th overall in the draft. The Calgary Wranglers were one busy team in the 1st round also selecting Okada 9th overall and Rice 11th overall.

Q: What was going through your head when you found out you were selected 5th overall ?
A: I was shocked and in disbelief. I still feel like I'm dreaming. I'm so happy to be drafted by Calgary. The Wranglers Gm had contacted me shortly before the draft took place. Explained their intentions were to reach for me with an early pick.

Q: Do you think you will enjoy playing in the City of Calgary?
A:  Short answer is yes 100%. Any organization that has this much belief in me makes it so welcoming to play here. The Wranglers truly believe I'm going to be a great player. I just have to work hard and prove them right. My dream is to win here.  , RJ Jubis

zepheter reacted to enigmatic in Okada goes to Calgary
Hiroshi Okada was not pleased with his draft rank last night and was seen crying a little harder every time a player that wasn't him was selected. The cameraman and producers seemed particularly amused because they would cut to him after each pick and zoom on his face.

Okada was finally selected 9th overall by the Calgary Wranglers but he wasn't even their first choice. The Wranglers preferred RJ Rubis to him at 5. Okada went on stage, eyes as red as his new team's jersey.

"We love all our players equally", said Calgary GM Tyler Barabash Jr when asked to comment on his decisions on draft night. He did not convince anybody with this statement but Okada has proved in the past that draft rankings wouldn't stop him being a better player than projected so fans and experts in Calgary are all excited to see what he will bring to the Wranglers.

Hiroshi Okada refused to speak to media following the draft, simply saying he was too tired... it was probably from all the crying but he'd never admit it.

zepheter reacted to Jayrad28 in Prague makes history on draft day
When the Prague Phantoms won the draft lottery, It was generally thought that Superstar Center Benny Graves would be their pick, as many GM’s Follow the old rule, Pick the best player available. Prague Gm Jason Glasser (@diamond_ace) and Assistant Alexsi Sytsevich (@HenrikZoiderberg) Discussed Trading the pick for some additional pieces but nothing  enticed Glasser Enough to move the pick.

As Draft day arrived almost every mock draft had Prague Selecting Graves. But Glasser had his eye on another promising top prospect, Defenceman Cinnamon Block. Glasser Believed His Center core was one of the major strengths of his team, with three blossoming young players in Zeno Miniti ( @Zeno), Alex Pearson and Scotty BigShotty ( @FerdaJets) And so, as  Glasser walked up to the podium, He announced Cinnamon as the First overall Selection, and first ever Female Picked With the first overall pick.

While there have been some good Female players in the past (Katie Warren comes to mind) There have been none on the level of Block. Her aggressive but smart Defensive play blew the minds of scouts and clearly intrigued Glasser.

Cinnamon Block Joins the Phantoms, a couple of whom she’s already played with, Including Alex Pearson and Scotty BigShotty on Philadelphia when they went on the cup run with Katherine Blade’s final season with the Philadelphia Reapers. Unfortunately they were Bounced in the second round and all 3 players moved on.

Block is expected to be a huge part of the promising Prague Defence core, Joining Star WSJ ( @Cornholio), Seabass Perrin ( @Sebster03) Gert B Forbe ( @NumberJ5) And Promising Youngster Jacob Perry ( @Liberty_Cabbage). Veteran ( @AdamEss) Will serve as a great mentor for the Young Czech Team.

Phantoms Also picked their future Starter in Solomon Crawford, who Will Likely Duel Owen May for Starting Duties if he makes the team over Bruce Grimaldi.

Prague hopes to improve in their sophomore season this year, And while they may not look like a playoff team, Hockey is a parity Sport, and anything can happen.

Ideally I'd like to win as many cups as I can, but I wouldn't mind going to a rebuilding team and eventually lead them to success. Similar to how my previous player did with the Reapers. I grew with the rebuilding squad, eventually winning the Founder's Cup and scoring the most points in the team's history.

Well, I'd tell them that I'm willing to do what's necessary to win. I'm going to try my hardest to bring out the best in my team regardless of the situation. While I'm active now, I intend to stay this activity in the community for years to come.

Top five. If I can't get in the top five it's because I've done something wrong, or someone simply has a better method of earning than me. Even then, I don't see anybody being able to catch up to me at this point since there is quite a large gap.

zepheter reacted to Peace in Peace announces S69 his final, will retire at the deadline. [1/2]
TORONTO, CANADA -- Rylan Peace has announced VIA Twitter that he will be calling it a career after the season concludes, officially signing the retirement papers at the trade deadline with the league for an effective expiration date to be announced later. Although he will be signing the papers at the trade deadline, Rylan Peace will continue to play for the Toronto Legion for the remainder of the season.

Peace cites financial shortages from rookie mistakes as his reason for an early retirement. According to the regulations VHL is governed, Peace would have had to retire next season regardless, but after seven seasons with the league the degradation of his play has already begun. In the NHL a player will play for a decade, sometimes more, before any meaningful loss of ability - but the VHL has its players playing longer, heavier, more aggressive and 'exciting' hockey - it's only natural the human body begins to tire.

"I made some critical mistakes when I was a rookie," Peace admitted in his open letter - a picture he posted on Twitter. "First of all, I spent a lot of time developing skills I would never have needed as a winger in the VHLM with Saskatoon and Halifax, so I had to hire a personal trainer and retrain myself for the skills I did need outside of practice and the rinks I've played in. Secondly, when I was drafted by Davos, I was informed they needed a number one center. So again I turn to the best VHL trainers money could buy and - in reality - turned myself into a player I never thought I'd be."

Rylan Peace was drafted as a winger for Davos, but with the need of a center more crucial at the time, Rylan Peace made the effort to retrain his skills to be what Davos required. It broke his bank, and unfortunately it has left him short. "I plan on using what little I have left in budget to improve myself for the final season, and I'm hoping that'll be enough to push Toronto deeper into the playoffs."

Rylan Peace ended thanking his fans, Riga, Davos and the Toronto Legion for making him feel at home. Although his time in Riga was short, and he was publicly frustrated with the organization - especially after being practically benched in the post season - he didn't leave the organization angrily. His time in Davos was short as well, but we believe Peace was traded for expressing his thoughts about trades his GM made, which sent him to Toronto. Peace will play in Toronto the longest, finishing three seasons with the club, and hopes to be remembered as one of the better players in Legion history.

Peace's career has been publicly quiet - for the most part. The only true media exposure he received was during - and a season removed from - his 103 point campaign in his first of two season with Davos prior to being traded to Toronto. Beyond that, Peace's reputation among the league sailed in luke-warm water. He was never really a hot commodity in fantasy, although he was never too cold to go undrafted in the majority of the leagues either. Unfortunately, that's likely to happen in fantasy this year around and there's nothing Peace can do about it.

With any luck - in his final season - Peace can achieve some form of milestone. Perhaps one hundred points, or fifty goals, but the true motivation would be a cup ring.

What a night, Guy Lesieur has had being part of the S69 VHL Entry Draft! Guy enjoyed a very successful season in the VHLM split between the Mexico City Kings and the Las Vegas Aces, but his eyes have always been on the prize of playing in the VHL. A couple of teams scouted Lesieur and he found the management of both very impressive. As the weeks unfolded, however, a very clear favorite rose to the top – the expansion D.C. Dragons. Guy was so impressed by management’s vision for the future of the franchise, the current roster already assembled, and the way he was treated in the scouting discussions. By the time the draft arrived this evening, Lesieur was literally shaking with anticipation.

D.C. had the 2nd and 7th overall picks in the first round. Defenseman Cinnamon Block went to Prague at 1OA and D.C. drafted Guy’s Las Vegas Aces teammate Benny Graves with their first pick. Who could argue either choice? As Lesieur anticipated D.C.’s next next selection at number 7, the Riga Reign called Lesieur’s name as their choice at number 6. No complaints there – Riga had scouted Lesieur and he had been very impressed by management. But there was that hope that he might be drafted by D.C. and that was now over.

Or was it? There seemed to be a delay in D.C. taking their pick at number 7 and then it became clear that the delay was due to trade talks that D.C. was having with some other team. Could it be? Lesieur had no idea. After some few minutes of intense anticipation, it was announced. Yes! A deal had been struck between the Reign and Dragons. Lesieur would be going to D.C. after all in exchange for D.C.’s number 7 pick and D.C.’s 3rd round picks in S70 and S71.

Guy was and is filled with gratitude to both D.C. for believing in him enough to give up the extra draft choices to get him and to Riga for making it possible for him to play for his “dream team”. In subsequent conversations with Riga management it was clear that the extra draft choices were only a small part of their motivation in the trade. They had learned of Guy’s desire to play in D.C. and made an effort to help make that happen so long as it did not hurt Riga in the doing. A very classy organization indeed.

And so, Guy Lesieur says goodbye to his wonderful GM and teammates in Las Vegas and has packed his bags for a move to the American capital!

Ladies and gentlemen of the VHL community, I come to you with terrible news. What I just witnessed, is not only hideous, but corrupt in every sense. Jesus Christ was not selected in the S69 (nice) draft. "Why?," you might ask. While I've had little time to do research, as the draft ended no more than five minutes ago, I was able to find out who is to blame for this. Well, not who, but what is responsible. BPA... essentially a method used to auto pick the best available player. I inquired about the criteria for a pick to be made through this BPA method, and none of them included the fact that uniqueness should be a factor. This is honestly quite eye-opening for me. I might never be able to recover from the burden that has been bestowed upon me. We must not let this go on without taking action. Whoever is responsible must take responsibility for their actions. Whomever it is, we will come for you. Jesus Christ will take you out.

zepheter reacted to Jubo in Titans S69 Draftees
Friday evening saw the VHL hold its season 69 entry draft. The Titans had four draft picks heading into the event.

With an aging core the Titans see themselves needing pieces for their future and potential rebuild. Helsinki owned pick eight of round one and found themselves eyeing two specific players. They were able to successfully acquire German defender Erik Summers who has a very high ceiling and should climb Helsinki's ranks as early as season 70. Summers will start the season with Houston of the VHLM and is very likely to compete for top defenseman in the league.

With pick #20, Helsinki was happy to see Daldo fall to them. Another promising prospect who will play a second season in the VHLM to round out his game. Daldo should produce strong offensive numbers in season 69 and keep the Titans interests high.

At pick 27 the Titans took on a project player in Gary Tarantino. The 6'1" right winger expects to see stronger numbers this season wherever he finds himself playing. We have a good feeling Tarantino will become a VHL player in a couple of seasons.

With their final pick (#32), the Titans took on another project player in centerman Jack Russell. Russell is another VHLM free agent who will look to improve upon his 25 points last season with Mexico.

    Round 1 Pick #8: Erik Summers @Erik Summers (D - Houston Bulls)
Round 2 Pick #20: Daldo @Harpskii (RW - San Diego Marlins)
Round 3 Pick #27: Gary Tarantino @Garrett (RW - VHLM Free Agent)
