It's been awhile since I wrote a media spot since I've been scouting for VSN, so I'm going to divert attention from there and take some inspiration from another thread done earlier this week and thank some people I owe a great deal to.

First, @Motzaburger.  You claimed me twice for Mexico City, once in s67 where I went IA (when I had no idea what I was doing) and the second time in s71 (when I was just a welfare bum).  I owe you big.

Next, my first real bud, @Hylands.  It seems I've ended up following you wherever you went, lol.  VSN, GM chat, wherever else haha.

Then my first draft experience in s72, @Dil and @Jubo07 selecting me to Halifax and Helsinki.  This is when I starting catching the community fever and met some good guys like @a_Ferk and @InstantRockstar.  It's also when I started putting more effort into my player and asking questions.  It kinda prepared me to what was coming next though...

I think I owe all my VHL efforts to one guy...

    @Sonnet

He had interest in trading for me during the season in s72 on such an empty team and after joining that LR, @PatrikLaine @KnightRiley @JigglyGumballs and @DreMin15 made that LR just awesome.  Just us 1st gens in there sparked something in all of us to learn as much as we could about the league, earning the sweet tpe and just the healthy competition that wanted to make us all better members for the league.  Yeah, we sucked terribly but those memories make Houston home.  I'm the AGM there now and that experience is what motivates me to create such a silly, helpful, and active environment there.  The gratitude must be known and given to the s72 Bulls.

As Sonnet became VHLM Commish during that season, I got to meet (my future boss) @rjfryman, the heir apparent to the Houston GM job.  Right from the get go, he was very helpful to me.  I ended up getting selected by @McWolf in the expansion draft to play for London, so RJ was supportive of me going there as I initially planned to stay down and go to Helsinki in s73.  McWolf had enough faith in me so I went up in London's inaugural season and I'm still there three seasons later.

I still had my heart in Houston though, so when RJ assembled such a stacked squad for Houston's s73 season I got to meet such a colorful gang comprised of @Banackock @Quik @BladeMaiden @Plate @Renomitsu  @okochastar @Jeffie43 to name a few.  London was pretty bare, but I met great members like @der meister @TTtheT and @SirRupertBarnes and enjoyed our first terrible season there.

Near the end of that season, changes were happening in VSN and I was approached by @Doomsday to join the scouting department.  Thanks for hiring Plate and myself that season, it was such a crazy time but I learned a whole lot about that side of the VHL.  Yeah, Plate went awol shortly thereafter, but I saw opportunity and I took it upon myself to get the job done.  I have to give a shout to @Patrik Tallinder for laying groundwork that I follow to this day in the content I create.  You've given me ideas that have help make relationships possible and easy.

During S74, we had the recruitment boom.  So many new folk to scout and interact with, I'm terribly sorry but I cannot name you all, there's too many to name (or tag) and I will not give preferential treatment to a handful of people.  You know who you are.  I realigned with RJ during mid-season s74 to become AGM of the Bulls.  It's been such an incredible experience to take part in trade talks, draft strategies and learning the ropes of STHS and Simon T's neurotic personality disorder that drives many of us up the wall!  I did get my first taste of STHS as GM of WJC Canada in s74 so again, a big thanks to the commissioners RJ and @Acydburn  for that experience.

I've come a long way from humble beginnings, as I do tend to fly under the radar and remain a lower-key member of the community.  We all end up connecting in some way with the ebb and flow of time and from season to season, but every time I log into the Portal or Forum, or writing content, I'm home and I'm writing for a family.

    1. Obviously the game poster isn't working right now but that's not overly important because...
    2. I know this is very few games. We realized the VHLM is quite far ahead of the VHL and we want them to finish at the same time so I'll only be doing 2 sim days per sim instead of the usual 4 to end the season. Sometimes that's gonna mean very few games.

mattyIceman reacted to Peace in Beaviss' Media Spot
I have to prefix this by acknowledging two [THREE] individuals that bid on the 'Peace means war' item in the charity auction. I sincerely thank [QUIK], Rory and Beaviss for spending (or bidding) real money on a mediocre media spot writer, my Discord naming rights for next month, and of course the crème le de crème item in this bundle package... a singular foot picture posted by yours truly. Rory bid $10 CAD for these exclusive rights, only to be out bid by his original bid when Beaviss decided my toes were worth $20 CAD and a partially sarcastic media spot; humbled as I am, the community raised an amazing amount of money for charity, I only wish I could have contributed more but COVID has the budget extremely tight (in fact I'll be negative soon).

With Beaviss' victory bid, I owe him a media spot, so I'll be covering that today; fun fact though, did you know Beaviss had a foot fetish? He claims he doesn't, but he just started a Peace Feet onlyfans essentially. There may be a surprise somewhere for him, so I expect this thread to get pretty sticky... actually I just took a picture of my feet (which is the plural for foot) to provide some depth into this media spot! The Horny Police might have to have an undercover agent permanently patrol this thread, and I wouldn't recommend using a black light at any time, or else they'll discover this thread looks like someone exploded in sexual frustration.

Beaviss can finally put this curious fetish to rest.

The insatiable desire to have both legs after the original over two years ago has been an itch he couldn't scratch until now.

To the public... avoid these spoiler tags. These are for Beaviss' spank bank only... unless you want them too; quality material for late night enjoyment -- I dare say -- and perhaps even good enough to make an occasional deposit into the early mornin' wank tank; resolution so fine it makes a potato look good, curving pixelated lines to sooth the imagination so you can really get involved; and toes with only recently trimmed nails just poking through, and hair that could make a hobbit jealous.

I present to you, Beaviss... a set of Peace feet with toes in and out for your pleasure.

    Enjoy!

Now let me talk a little about Beaviss on a more professional level, and this is technically an edit, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed and we all know that. I made a whoopsies and posted this before the article was ready, but hey... you got what you paid for, Beaviss!

    I know I'm right.

As a collective community we know Beaviss is an approachable, likeable, and quality individual the majority of us call a friend. He's easy flowing, down to Earth and reasonable even when he's wasting my time in trade negotiations or ditching me for his wife when we had plans to play ArmA 3, even though I'm the one who has the legs he wishes he had up until this point. I'm not here to write his dating biography though, so I'll leave you all with this article and begone. Feel free to DM me the nightmares you have upon the image of my legs burned into your eyes.

Hey guys we are back this week for the fourth installment of the VHL Roundtable. This week we decided to simplify things on the video end. We figured most people are tuning in for the audio anyways so it didn't make sense to spend so much time on the video side of things. This week we breakdown all the trades that happened leading up the VHLM trade deadline. After that we have another exclusive interview with a VHL veteran and NY Americans GM @Esso2264 Thanks alot to Esso for sharing some of his free time with us. We hope you guys enjoy it and as always leave a comment below and let us know what you think! Cheers!

So, as we all know by now, the trade deadline is now past and we are in the last part of the season before the playoffs. This Season has been an incredibly competitive one which brought us a lot of trades, I would say enough to get lost. I know that not all of you got the time or the interest to look at what changed and each team during the last 2 weeks, so I made life easier for you. There is everything you wanted to know about the trade deadline in the VHLM for the S75 in a quite simple way.

Okay so... I just wanna say I don't deserve any mentions I've received here. Like really, I don't think of myself too highly so for @Crstats23, @PatrikLaine, @Hex Universe, and @Ledge_and_Dairy. Thank you. It means a lot to even be mentioned here. It makes me really really happy to see me mentioned in a thread like this and I'm really glad to have made some form of impact in this league.

Otherwise first and foremost, I wanna thank @PatrikLaineagain for introducing this league to me.

@Sonnet , @MattyIce, @DreMin15, and @KnightRiley for getting me truly hooked onto this place and making my early days here a blast.

@DoktorFunk, @DarkSpyro, @Blazzer for a genuinely fun time in Ottawa. I really enjoyed talking to you guys when I played there and I'm glad I was able to help you set up your server Spyro.

@Spartanfor hiring me as an AGM and putting up with my shit in Vegas sometimes as well as teaching me the ropes. It's something I really really appreciate.

@a_Ferk, @NickSunderbruch, @Crstats23, @Ledge_and_Dairy, @IamMOOSE, @Ricer13, @dariusmarimotoman, @tfong , @fromtheinside, @fishy, @Esso2264, @Hex Universe and @Viperxhawks19 I wanna thank you guys all for making the VHL more than just a random place to chat with random people. I really enjoyed talking to you guys in the discord LRs and the VHL server. It's something that you guys may not value much but it's something I value quite a bit.

@GustavMattiasfor the town of salem games and the occasional talks in VHL gen.

And I finally want to thank every single one of Vegas's players. You guys really shouldn't be giving me as much credit as I seem to get so thank you ❤️

I would say thanks to @Doomsdayand @a_Ferk who really helped me a lot in my noobs days last season and always been patient and nice even if I was messaging them often about the ice time on the forth line

I would also like to thank @MattyIce who has been a fantastic AGM and really helped me a lot to improve myself and he is one of the reasons I’m capped and ready fir the VHL next season

and at last, I would like to thank @BladeMaiden for the amazing graphic she made for me, I use it as my signature with pride 🙂

Get some popcorn, I have quite a few people to go through.

Before I get started on the names in question, great idea @chatfan036 to start a thread like this. Brings out the kindness in the community during the holiday season!

The person I owe to me being on the VHL to this day is @Sonnet. I was pretty confused with things at the beginning and was considering moving on too early. He walked me through everything so I definitely owe him one because who knows where I would be at right now if I didn't stay.

Someone I owe a lot to @BladeMaiden but not just from a VHL perspective but also from a life perspective. She's taught me a lot about life as well being a great friend and AGM in Helsinki.

@Jubo07 for taking a chance on me in the first round and for being a really good GM. Helped me settle into Helsinki the moment I got there and has been very supportive of me and my fellow Titans.

@JigglyGumballs for not only being a great AGM over in Vegas and helping the VHL community but for being a great friend irl. Love you bud ❤️

@Zetterberg, @MexicanCow123, @Jtv123, @fishy, @fromtheinside, @DreMin15 and almost 50 others for helping me put on a tournament during the offseason. This tournament would not have happened without you guys!

@MattyIce for showing me the ropes when I first joined and helping me with donations (I WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE OKAY?).

I know I'm forgetting a lot of names, but thank you to EVERY SINGLE VHL MEMBER who makes the community a better place for all of us and take care of each other and those around us.

    What a great idea footfan_036!

    Jeez where to start:
    - @Ricer13 for hiring me as AGM right away, that was such a great entry point to the league and gave me a purpose and passion I wouldn't have gotten as just a third line scrub on some team. forever

    - On the hiring thread, @Acydburn  and @rjfryman hiring me for WJC commish. Again, being recognized and valued for work feels great. I like to help.

    - @fishy @Spartan @Berocka @dasboot @DoktorFunk @DarkSpyro for inspiring me to start podcasting - I haven't written a media spot since! (bonus spot to @thadthrasher for being the first guest of the show)

    - @.sniffuM @Josh @Hylands @rory  @Esso2264 for playing games with me. Sounds silly but I've got so few irl friends who play games so it's amazing to be able to golf with friends and fall guys and shit. I know it hardly ever works out for me, and doesn't mean anything to you cause you guys do it all night every night, but it's really cool and meaningful to me. I love a solid "we stan AL in this chat" every time I join hahaha

    - CHESS CLUB

    - @GustavMattias and @omgitshim for continuing to let me play Town of Salem when they really, really shouldn't

    - @gorlab for going extremely out of his way to throw compliments around

I think it's a testament to the leadership of the league that there's so many coloured people people with coloured roles on this list. The people in charge are really doing their damn best to make this place welcoming, nice, and fun. There's lots of other people to shout out like the S72 Marauders, the DCD LR (quality of convo > quantity), the ol' 9-5 crew who got me hooked, the people who listen to my show, and everyone who makes me proud to be in the VHL.

As some may know, I quit smoking cigarettes just over a month again and have from time to time shared my app’s progress in my locker room as it’s either requested me to show people for helpful tools/tasks or because it does help a little bit in curbing the habit/addiction. A while into it I made that “Good News” post about my girlfriend being confirmed cancer free and also letting the rest of the league know that along with that bright light, I’ve also taken up the challenge of bettering myself and conquering the mountain that many know to be “quitting smoking”.

Tonight, I found it cool to go on my phone and see a message from a fellow member that wanted to share a helpful message that they seen my post and have also quit smoking a few weeks ago. It made me proud of them. Maybe even a little bit because they were a newer member to the league and the Bears! I don’t think I had any impact on this, but a similar message popped in my head that many have echoed on here that it’s cool all the positivity going on, but also just how awesome this community and it’s members are. Kindness spreads faster than Covid.

I mostly wanted to write this post up to help others (maybe myself too), have a place to chat or have resources or share stories about their successes (and maybe even failures). I know showing my progress to others, whether on here or in real life, offers up a great sense of pride and encouragement to continue a battle that often can be frustrating, exhausting and a pain in the damn ass.

A few other things that have helped me are:

    - I have this app. Smoke Free it’s called for IOS. It tracks cravings, has a helpful bit if you need resources, have questions or are struggling. It also offers up tools and daily tasks to help you progress. I do some of these but what’s most significant for me is the money saved counter and the “Time Smoke Free” counter. Visually seeing my progress really helps me get through it.

    - Have a goal. Have a few if you want. My main ones moving forward and since the beginning have financial (1) and health (2). It’s fucked up probably that it’s backwards and health should be (1), but it’s a close race. I just really want to save money for whatever the hell I want - up to AND including my vacation property in the mountains. Again, that app mentioned above really does help with this .

    - Mental strength. You may be tough like buff Beav, but your mind is just as powerful - most likely more. The cravings can be tough as hell. I’ve had numerous moments and even portions of days where it’s in your mind at the start of quitting. Maybe a shit sleep, habitual things like driving, eating, boredom, sex, coffee, alcohol, being around those who smoke, socializing (not in today’s world lol!) or whatever. Maybe you’re having a shit day at work or just got bad news etc.. it happens and they’re (cravings) dry grass waiting for a match to drop.. but all fires can be put out! For me, weeks 1-2 were a decent struggle but once you hit that 3 weeks plateau .. it gets easier.. I’ve found it’s been a little tougher the last few days but that’s only because I think I’ve got focused in my head just how hard it’s going to be.. I had and have the thought of “I’ve quit for 36 days.. which is amazing.. but that’s only 36 days of the rest of my life” and the small accomplishment than stood beside a massive oncoming wave ready to crash into my progress lol..

One day at a time as my girlfriend reminds me.

    - Something that has helped me and could probably tie into the last one.. they become less frequent... your inner voice becomes louder than the cravings and they pass just as fast as they came.. in fact, I’ve had good luck with telling this thing to fuck off and be the louder one (I know some here probably aren’t surprised lmao).. they hit your mind and you either find a distraction, let them pass or I often find myself telling my mind “no. I’m not gonna smoke. I don’t like the health effects I’ve been having, don’t want to feel shamed and want to continue saving money”. So far, during this battle, I’m undefeated. I will continue to be. 36 days and counting, one at a time.

    - Good support. It’s helped me huge. Not so much to quench cravings but mostly just to feel encouragement and proud of myself. It’s a nice reminder as to why you’re doing it and feeling a sense of happiness and being proud always helps fuel motivation.

Stay strong friends. It’s hard as shit but you can do it. If anyone needs someone to talk to or anything, I’m always a message away. Stay healthy, happy and safe. Best of luck
