  1. Awesome podcast @IHateBobNutting! What microphone do you use by chance? As the only downside for me is that it's very easy to hear the typing + clicking and there is sometimes there is a good bit of feedback, so it can be a bit distracting. Besides that it was well done to give the playoff series reviews, and it's nice to see you giving off some personality by highlighting some of your favourite players (i.e. Zamboni Driver). Keep it up :)

  2. Brudda, you knocked this out of the park. I am absolutely floored that a quick ask for who wants a graphic in the general chat turned into such a superb graphic. This is going to be a mainstay for my signature for quite a long time ❤️

    1) Now that you are officially in offseason mode, how are you enjoying it? What is your player doing with their time in the offseason?

As a waiver pickup player that is now released ( 😠 ) as of right now it's gotten extremely quiet. Thankfully we had all of the Christmas activities going on that took up a good part of the time, but as of right now it's the dreadful wait for the draft that is causing some anxiety :P My player would probably still be drinking whiskey and trying to not look at any brooms.

    2) The IIHF U20 World Juniors have been going on since Boxing Day and tomorrow is the Gold Medal Game featuring Canada vs USA which will surely be an exciting matchup. Have you been watching any of the games in the World Jr/ do you ever watch the tournament?

I've been keeping up a bit since Cozens is from my hometown, but I haven't been able to actually catch a full game due to timezone differences...however this upcoming one is a must watch so I'll probably try to tune in 👀

    3) The NHL season gets underway in about a week. Explain how you feel about your favourite team going into this season and how you think they will do. If you aren't a huge hockey fan talk about a team you like in another sport instead.

I'm a Detroit Fan. I'll say one word for how they'll do: Pain.

    4) I like watching the big game with a bag of potato chips. What is your favourite flavour of chips or if you don't like chips what do you like to snack on while watching a big game?

All Dressed chips will always be my go to. Chips aren't too big here unfortunately compared to back home, but paprika chips are common and really good here.

    5) The VHLM finals start shortly. It will be Philadelphia vs Mexico City. What's your prediction?

Welp, who would have thought these two teams would be in the finals :kekw: I'd put my money on Philly since then at least we can say we lost to the champs :(

    6) The playoffs and offseason probably have about two and a half weeks left still. What is your target TPE you are hoping to be at for puck drop in S76 and how do you plan to get there?

Oof, that's a hard one to predict for me as I'm quite unsure. At my pace I'm hoping to get closer to 275+ TPE with 250 used at max depending on how it works out at the draft and where the management teams want me to play next year. I'll continue on my 12+ TPE minimum a week pace until my dying breathe 😎

'Tis the season where the GM's and AGM's of all the VHL and VHLM teams will be scrambling around (well, the ones with draft picks left if they haven't traded them all away) trying to create some sort of draft list after conducting countless interviews of all the available players in the upcoming drafts. From the outside looking in, as I haven't been apart of the VHL long and I have no idea what the management work is like here, I could just imagine the work that is needed to be done just based off my personal opinion on how I would handle the management job as well as based on the few conversations I've personally had with a select few GMs for some different organizations and I think that they've had to do that at least 10+ times by now, if not more.

Thus, what better way to make the management jobs easier for the teams than to answer the most basic and frequently asked questions that I'm sure most teams are looking to seek answers out for. To note, I really, really enjoy the conversations and answering the questions over private messages on the forums more than doing something like this and I would really like to insist that if a GM or AGM is looking to ask my some questions, that my inbox is always open and that I try to answer your questions to my fullest ability as soon as possible. However, I know that sometimes it's not as easy to get around to every prospect in a draft, so this would be more for teams that might be interested in Kristof Welch joining their organization, but that does not have the time to approach me personally.

With that being said, let's begin!

    =============================================================================================================================================================

    • Where do you see yourself playing next season if drafted?

For me, being a team-player will always come first. I do not think I would be as selfish as to be making a decision on where I want to play next season without first thinking about what would work best for the teams (both VHL and VHLM) that draft me. Of course, making the VHL is the end-goal for me, however if the VHL team suggests that I play another full season with the VHLM team that drafts me, I am fully onboard with that. Personally, I would always say another year of development wouldn't hurt (despite being almost at the 250 TPE max cap for the VHLM already) and it'd be interesting to see how I do as a big piece down in the VHLM, however I would need to explore all my options and make sure I'm taking the best route possible.

    • What type of player do you want to see Kristof Welch become?

The best way I would like to describe myself as a player would be someone who can be reliable in their own zone so they are not a defensive liability, however they are still an offensively minded playmaking defenseman. I would say that I'd want to base my game around someone like Lidstrom who is one of my all-time favourite players, however to try to replicate one of the best of all time is a really hard task to accomplish. However, I am really dedicated to making sure I make the best build possible to insure that I do not put up countless minus' on the +/- statistics as well as PIMs, even if it means getting a lot of points. I would really rather have something like a 60 point season with a +20 and 20 PIM compared to a 90 point season with a -10 and 50 PIM.

    • What type of role do you want with your player?

Without a doubt I would push to become a top-2 defender that can provide a lot of minutes providing relatively good offense and solid defense on both even strength and special teams. I would also hope that the team that would draft me would hopefully value me as a franchise piece (or one of the franchise pieces) that would give his all for his team, even if that means reduced minutes if that means the team comes out with a win at the end of the day. I know that I wouldn't be able to be a top-2 defender right away and that working my way up to the first pairing takes time, however with my limited experience with my VHLM team that picked me up (the Yukon Rush) where I started out on the bottom pairing and worked my way up to the most minutes per game on the entire team for the skaters, I feel like I'm ready to develop my game at whatever pace is needed.

    • Would you stick with the franchise that picked you for most of your career, or would you pursue other organizations if the possibility came up?

The biggest thing for me is respect when it comes to attributes I value the most. Thus, being chosen in the draft is a huge honour for me and I would want to repay the favour and the risk of picking me in the draft, as using draft picks should never be used lightly, by being a core franchise member of the team. This mostly comes from me seeing my idols be drafted and play their entire career with my favourite team (Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Yzerman, etc.), and I would love to replicate the same thing by sticking beside the team that drafted me all the way through, through the rough times like rebuilds to the great times like pushing for the cup.

    • Ultimately, what are your main goals you want to accomplish and shoot for in your career?

Mentioned a bit previously, my ultimate goal would be sticking with a team from drafted to retirement, however not only that but also to be a franchise piece on the blue-line that the team can count on me for consistently being productive and reliable, but also being a core member of the organization in and out of the locker-room. I do not want to be here to coast along in my career, I want to make sure that I am remembered in the organization during and after I've ended my career. Whether that means breaking records or just being known as a really solid defender, I want to make sure my player is known as someone who came to the team like a lightning bolt and never stopped until the end. Oh and of course, being someone that helped the team onwards to a cup win (or several) would be amazing as well.

    =============================================================================================================================================================

I hope these questions and answers cleared up any sort of thoughts on what to expect out of Kristof Welch on a basic level, and if any management staff for either the VHL or VHLM teams has any questions (even if you'd like me to expand on what I mentioned above) please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Answering your questions would be my pleasure and I would love to get acquainted with anyone who would value me enough to draft me in the upcoming drafts!

What about the idiots that dragged you here in the first place

@dlambHas both created an amazing community in one of my favourite games on EHM to the point where that really got my through quarantine and I feel like I've found a great bunch of guys that I get really along with, as well as (alongside @Enoramaalso prodding to have me join) introduced me to a second community with the VHL that I've really found true enjoyment and that I'm having a blast with. That couple with @Enorama's amazing first graphic he made for me to start out, I feel like I was welcomed right away and my gratitude to both of you is immensely high.

You can't forget the original-original roots as well 😉❤️

  6. Well, we are almost to the first big milestone of every player's career: The Draft. Although I'm actually getting a bit nervous as honestly I have no idea where I'm going to land despite a few teams reaching out to me, but as the days go by and the playoffs are getting closed to finished, the inevitable will come to see what franchise will pick me up.

However, this article isn't about the draft and the teams that I think I'll end up going to and why teams should pick me up. No, this is about showing respect to my roots that I will never forget and that I will hold in the highest regard.

What I'm talking about is being reached out to by @fromtheinsideand @MexicanCow123to join the Rush despite already having the season starting and starting out from the very bottom pairing. The Rush and these two guys in particular really helped me grow as someone apart of the VHL community (despite being here only for a small amount of time) to learn the basics and ins and outs, really getting accustomed of what the best way to grow my player and going out of their way (particularly Scotty @fromtheinsidewho had to very much sit with my many questions about where I can earn that sweet, sweet TPE so I can get the maximum amount I could from the get-go and as the season went on) to make sure I'd fit in with the Rush.

But besides the above, overall both of them are amazing people that I honestly have huge amounts of respect for and who I'd gratefully call friends through and through.

I will forever be a member of the Rush in my heart no matter where I go in the upcoming drafts, and I hope that one day I can return in one aspect or another.

    Week Ending 01/10

    1. Jersey numbers have been a topic of discussion in our LR. What number do you wear and why?

My jersey number will always try to be my favourite number, 72. I have no idea how I came to love the number as a kid, but it always stuck with me so I've always had that for everything number related possible. If that's not available, something around there like 70 or 71 would be sick too.

    2. Last season the Americans ran with 3 Alternate Captains. Should someone be awarded the "C" this year?

Unfortunately I'm not apart of the NYA locker-room (Maybe one day...), but I'll always stick to my guns that it shouldn't go to just the highest TPE or point producer on the team, but someone who really takes the reign in the locker-room and gets along with everyone and wants to stick with the team. Thus, I'd say unless there's a consensus person to choose from, I'd say to continue to roll 3 Alternates until there's a somewhat clear choice.

    3. Set a personal goal for yourself in S76.

Get drafted. Sign a contract. Discuss with both teams who draft me (VHLM + VHL) on where they'd like me to play and what kind of impact I'd have for them and make a decision on where to play. Continue to work on my defensive game as I feel like my point production as a defender is pretty solid (~.8 PPG last season as a waiver-pickup). Hopefully showcase I'm a top prospect in the league and a great up and coming defender. Fight Dlamb irl.

    4. What is the best VHL Player name you can think of off the top of your head?

    Lasagna Bologna (pronounced Laz-agh-nah Bowl-agh-nah)

    5. Have you been following the real-life WJC? Who takes Gold? If answering after it has ended, who would you have liked to see win Gold?

Unfortunately with me being in the EU I haven't really been paying attention as I'm usually pretty tired or already sleeping by the game starts, but I know my hometown boy Cozens is lighting it up. I'd say that Canada seems to fire on all cylinders this year and don't really seem to have any clear obvious weaknesses opposed to other years, so I'd say I can see them and want them to go for Gold.

    6. Coke or Pepsi? (Or Other?)

Coke all day baby, Pepsi is a chumps pop.

  8. I absolutely love these style of graphics when you enhance the original image compared to making something completely unique, as that in itself is pretty unique! The blue pops very well on the player, which is perfect for Merrick since he's apart of the Legion. That and the text REALLY pops, and that is something I see often not done on graphics so I give you props for that as that's my key thing I love in player graphics. In terms of a critique however I would have loved to see more done in regards to the VHL (i.e. logos, references, etc.) as although the VHL team name is on the bottom, that's the only VHL related thing on the image. Overall I'd give this a 8.5/10 as I really love how much this graphic jumps out to you and catches your eye, wonderful job :) !

  9. Congratulations on hitting 100 points! That's a huge milestone and it's wonderful to do a graphic for that! I like the idea of putting 3 separate player images together and the jersey + colour swaps were well done! However I think what bothers my eyes a bit is that there is a lot packed up into one image, which would be fine but the imagine is pretty small so it's a bit clustered. That and I'd recommend to also use a different font colour (Maybe yellow? since that would also match the Reapers colour scheme too) for the white text that is on top of the players to make it pop! Overall I'd give it a solid 7.5/10 and congratulations again for your milestone! :)

  10. Really great review @Hex Universe! I love these articles you do, as I usually don't put too much time into even pondering about the logos so it's awesome to see a bit more of a breakdown and to notice things I haven't before, like for example the fighter jet in the middle that now I can't unsee! I do find it odd that Vegas wouldn't use Red over their Green choice for a secondary colour, but a wonderful logo nonetheless!
