    1. The draft is over, how do you think it went for Davos?

    2. Anything to say to the new guys and if you are one how do you feel to be apart of Davos now?

    3. Awards have been handed out, how did your predictions go?

    4. HOF inductions have also happened, how do you feel about these inductions?

    5. The offseason is almost over, are you excited to almost be back to playing the great game of hockey?

    6. A little bit of an old question but do you think there are more doors or wheels in the world?

    1. I didn't pay too much attention to how Davos did in the draft because I just got here but I have a great feeling about the prospect pool here.

    2. Its pretty cool, I was not expecting to get traded but I'm excited for the opportunity to meet new people in the locker room.

    3. Horribly, I should have done more research at the start of the season.

    4. I didn't pay any attention to the hall of fame inductions so I have no comment other than I can't wait until I'm inducted :)

    5. I can't wait, I have been missing the VHL. It has become apart of my daily routine to check it and without sims happening I'm lost lol.

    1. How does it feel to be back in the playoffs?

    2. Looking back at the regular season what are you happy with and what are you looking to improve?

    3. Prediction on where The Lynx will finish in the Playoffs?

    4. Who are you scared of facing in the playoffs? Any team that looks daunting or any team that looks like an easy challenge for The Lynx?

    5. We will have to travel for the playoffs. What is your go to snack for traveling?

    6. With the Draft coming up soon. Out of all the teams in the VHL and the VHLE, where is the dream place for you to play?

    1. Felt great, too bad the outcome wasn't what we wanted. After two full seasons I'm still waiting on my first playoff win.

    2. I am very happy with my player, I was not expecting to do anywhere near as well as I did but thanks to some pretty good luck and being on a good line, I managed to finish top 10 in most offensive categories.

    3. Unfortunately I already know where we finished and it is not at all what I expected or hoped, we got very unlucky but that is the way it goes sometimes.

    4. I was looking forward to playing Mexico because I played for them last year but now that we got swept by them I am feeling thoroughly underwhelmed.

    5. Any type of nuts. Whether it is trail mix or a bag of bar nuts of a bag of almonds, nuts are great for traveling because with the exception of peanuts, they do not make a big mess.

    6. I am already on Riga and Vasteras and am definitely looking forward to moving up a league.

:ott: Q1 -> It felt like yesterday the season began but here we are with a handful of games left.. Anything you want to see out of your player statistically during this final stretch?

:ott: Q2 -> Be honest we all size up the roster being joining a team.. Who has been your role model/build you looked up to or has helped you the most on ice?

:ott: Q3 -> Who is your favourite team in the VHLE and/or the VHL? Why??

:ott: Q4 -> The fans have been wild this season after our rise from the bottom of the standings, what's the craziet sign you've seen in the crowd? What did it say??

:ott: Q5 -> On our next road trip we'll be stopping to get food, which restaurant/fast food spot should we go? What are you ordering??

:ott: Q6 -> Who has the coolest/realistic player name/build on the team?

    1. I would very much like to hit 50 goals, that would be a huge step in the right direction and I definitely think it is possible.

    2. My former GM on Mexico Justin Lose was tearing up the VHL in my first year and he helped me a lot in building a strong offensive build.

    3. Riga took a chance on me and drafted me pretty early on so I am definitely a fan of theirs. I hope they will still be competing for first when I get called up.

    4. Any and all Benjamin Franklin Chang GIFS. Those slap.

    5. SUSHIIIIII. Sushi is the single greatest food and if you disagree you are wrong.

6.Daniel Clarke has a really nice build and a normal sounding name unlike Benjamin Franklin Chang and Faith Hope Love which are more similar to the names of NBA players such as Ennis Freedom and Metta World Peace.

:ott: Q1 -> Not long ago the ASG and skills competiton excited the VHL, what was your favourite part of the event?

    (Skills Competition, All Star Games)

:ott: Q2 -> In the spirit of theme week give me a dream team of past or present Ottawa-only NHL players!

:ott: Q3 -> The trade deadline is at the end of the week, do we make a big move, try to add another tool or let it ride through the last three days of trading?

:ott: Q4 -> What is the biggest motivation for you when it's late in game and your gas tank is almost empty?

:ott: Q5 -> We earned enough cash over the seasons to upgrade the arena.. What part needs the most work? Should it be something to bring in more fans or a personal want for the locker room??

:ott: Q6 -> With this sim there's no way all the water bottles are filled with H20.. Be honest, what favorite drink do you put in yours?

    1. I didn't pay too much attention to the all star game because I took a brief break from VHL however i enjoyed voting for some former and current teammates to make it.

    2. Tkachuk is a beast, Danny Heatley had one of the greatest one and done seasons of all time, Ray Emery (RIP) was a top 3 goalie in the league for a while, Chara was only in Ottawa for a cup of coffee but definitely developed into a powerhouse d man for Boston and Daniel Alfredsson is one of the best to ever play for Ottawa. Thats my dream team.

    3. I think we have answered all the questions with our lineup and are hitting our stride at the perfect time to lock up a better playoff spot. So we likely do not need to go hunting for more pieces.

    4. The thrill of winning of course.

    5. Ottawa is not the biggest market lol, let's get a nicer locker room.

    6. Dr.Pepper is heaven in a bottle. It is the ultimate liquid and I stand by that opinion religiously.

1 How is your player doing so far? are you happy on how he is doing?

2 If you could change only one thing in the Ottawa Lynx team, what would you change?

3 Have you ever dreamed of becoming a GM or an AGM?

4 Are you more of a tv series guy or a movie guy?

5 What made you fell in love with Hockey?

6 Wich is your favorite team in the VHL? ( I will go with Riga and Malmo, but Riga has the first place).

    1. I am more than happy with how I have been doing. My goal was to average a point per game and I am doing better than that so I am thrilled.

    2. I think we still need a few defensive reinforcements. We score plenty however our goals against is still quite high.

3I considered it, however I worry that I will commit to doing so and then not being able to fulfill my duties if life gets in the way.

    4. Definitely TV, I find it difficult to commit to spending two hours essentially doing nothing, whereas TV you can easily pick up on the go.

    5. Watching it with my dad as a kid. It was the first sport I ever took seriously.

    6. As of right now it is certainly Riga, they drafted me and this is my first player so I am very happy they took a chance on my player.

1 The season is just started and what do you think of it? are we off to a good start or should we do more?

2 Who do you think will be our biggest rival this season?

3 Is this your first time in the VHLM or are you used to the vhl forum?

4 Personal question, what made you join the vhl forum?

5 If you had to choose between playing for Mississagua and not eating for 2 days, what would you choose?

6 What do you think is the biggest strenght of the team? The defense? the attack? the friendship between the players?

    1. I think we need a bit more help on defence and if we can get that we are looking good for a three-peat.

    2. The Reapers are really good so I want to take them down badly. We can do it we just gotta have some luck on our side.

    3. I was in the VHLM last year and was on Mexico City.

    4. My friend who is on another team in the VHLM told me about it and it sounded interesting so I joined a few days after he did.

    5. Guess I'm starving.

    6. We have a great attack and have had some really high scoring games. That being said I think or cohesion and lines are definitely top notch and give us a big advantage before sims even happen.

  7. On 1/16/2022 at 11:31 PM, kelvi said:

    1. Do you think we need to draft another defenseman now that Connor Johnson is retired?

We have some good D prospects in the system so I wont stress if we don't. However something tells me we will come out of the draft with one anyways.

    2. 3 of our S81 draftees already retired for one reason or another. Bad luck?

Yes unfortunate luck, one was a 4th rounder which hardly pan out and its hard to predict multis.

    3. Why is winter the worst season?

Its cold, wet and gets dark at 4PM.

    4. The ex Riga player Justin Lose is about to win a whole lotta of awards. Happy for him?

Very happy, he deserves every bit of it. Was a fantastic player in Riga (and its nice to see someone have  a bit of success hey?)

    5. What reaction did you have on banning of Cabe McJake?

Not surprising at all. He was always semi trolling then got really weird in the locker room. disappointed to see him go and hope if he ever wants to come back after a few months they will reconsider.

    6. Why is summer the best season?

It's warm, sunny and it doesn't get dark until 9. More light = more happiness.

    1. I think it would be a good idea to shore up our prospects with a few more defensemen because we are leaning towards significantly more offence.

    2. That really sucks but we will turn it around with this draft class. The prospects are looking good we just need to wait a bit.

    3. I like winter, my only issue with it is getting wet feet. Wet socks and shoes suck so badly but other than that winter is great.

    4. Yes I am very happy for him. He was my manager in the VHLM and I wish nothing but the best for him.

    5. I am not sure what happened but that does not sound good.

    6. Summer is a bit overrated. There is no football or hockey to watch but baseball is always a fun third option. I could do without the extreme heat though, Spring and Fall are my favourite in terms of temperature.

    4) A big goal for me both with how I drafted and how I've ran the LR is to promote activity. How have you liked the LR experience? Any constructive criticism?

    5) If you answer this before the final sim: Who do you think wins it, and in how many games? (BO 5) If after: How do you feel about our finals performance?

    6) If given the chance to apply to GM the JST next season, would you be interested?

    1. Not very, I was expecting us to do better for a while. At the start, we were a bad mix of guys underperforming and guys taking too many penalties but we resolved that issue and have turned it around.

    2. Eldon has really been a force all over the ice. Getting to play with him definitely made me get more points which I am thankful for but he should be our MVP for sure.

    3. This tournament gave me a very good idea of where I stack up in terms of people who made players around the same time I did.

    4. I have really liked the experience, it has been a great group of guys and I can't wait to play with them down the road.

    5. I am a little disappointed to say that I do not think we can come back from the deficit we find ourselves in. I think we will push a game 5 but will lose it then.

    6. Probably not, I do not. have a ton of free time and have no experience being a manager in the vhl.

    1. End of the Season Edition! For most of you, this is your final Press Conference with Mexico City, some of you may end up back here! Will you take anything from your experience here with you to your next team?
    2. Coaches for the NHL All-Star game have been picked! (Brunette, Panthers; Brindamour, Hurricanes; DeBoer, Golden Knights; Bednar, Avalanche) What do you think about the choices?
    3. Which division in the NHL would you say is the hardest?
    4. Which is the easiest?
    5. It really has been fun writing these questions for y'all the past season. Breakfast or lunch? Why?
    6. Cats or dogs? Why?

    1. This was my first team in the VHL ever and it will always be close to my heart, the management were amazing and I hope I get to return soon.

    2. I agree with them, in my opinion Brindamour hasn't gotten the recognition he has deserved over the past few years so I am glad to see him getting recognition.

    3. The Atlantic is toughhhh, I can realistically see four teams in the Atlantic winning the cup.

    4. The fact that the Ducks are incredibly competitive in Pacific is proof that the division is garbage. I can't see any team being serious contenders in the long run. They all just seem mediocre at best.

    5. Breakfast. Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, need I say more.

    6. Dogs are far superior. Corgis and Beagles are the cutest thing on the planet.

    3) Who do you think has been Team Clue's MVP so far in the tournament?

    4) Word on the grapevine is that @Buddha might be interested in running a hockey fighting tournament with a similar setup in the future, would you join something like that?

    5) Pete Mitchell, the absolute legend, started off strong with 52 PIM in 5 games. How many do you think he will have by the end of the tournament?

    6) What's been your favorite part of the JST experience thus far?

    1. I am enjoying this tournament so far, I just wish my player was performing better as he has not lived up to his second round billing.

    2. I think we will certainly bounce back, we need to stay out of the box and I know that once we do we will be unstoppable.

    3. Our backstop has played amazing so I believe they deserve the MVP so far. We haven't been too helpful at slowing the onslaught of shots so we need to support our goalie more.

    4. Probably not, I do not have the most free time in the world and my player is definitely not a fighter haha.

    5. I think that our team as a whole will dial back on the penalty minutes so I believe that Pete will see a drop off in his PIM numbers.

    6. Being on a new team and thus, getting to meet a whole new group of guys is very fun and exciting.

    1. No I hadn't, I just assumed that in the offseason of the VHL there were no games but am pleasantly surprised by the junior showcase.

    2. I do not look at my TPE rankings compared to other players often so I can not really say if I think I was drafted at the right time. I am happy to be drafted at all.

    3. I like it a lot, getting a perspective of what a different locker room looks like is important as I will be on many teams in my career so it is fun meeting new people.

4.Of course, I am unhappy with how things were left in the VHLM and I want to get some wins.

    7. These questions are actually quite hard to come up with. Suggest a future question!
    8. What is your spirit animal and why do you embody it?

    1. We have been doing significantly better than the start of the season. Lately we have been winning at least one game a day, a few weeks ago we were struggling to get wins at all.

    2. I do not have much of a preference as to where I end up in the draft. I am still very new so I still have plenty of time to win championships later on.

    3. A team in the Maritimes would be pretty cool! They have no professional sports teams out there. As for the team name, maybe Lobers?

    5. I do not think there will be any changes that significant in Hockey. Seeing as how physically demanding playing any one position is, having someone who is responsible for covering the whole ice like a rover would do seems like it would require an impossible amount of stamina.

    6. Canada of course, in the Summer Olympics we tend to do poorly but given that we face such strong winter's we are better prepared than most.

    7. a question that is sure to cause some fierce debate is LeBron vs MJ. In my opinion its LeBron by a mile, the level of play is so much higher these days and he has carried a lot of scrubs to relevance.

    2. With a few games of experience, what aspects of the game is your player excelling?

    3. What would you say is something you would need the most help with or don't quite understand about the league?

    4. The S82 draft is coming up in the next off-season, do you have any hopes for your own player in that draft?

    5. The NHL is picking up steam, now that we are almost through the first quarter of the season....who ya got?

    6. Will Ovi surpass Gretzky's goal record next season or will he retire 2nd?

    7. Talk about taking a bite out of crime! Brendan Lemieux is set to have a hearing for his bite on Brady Tkachuk. How many games does the DoPS give him?

    8. Marc Bergevin is out as the GM for the Canadiens...who is the next team to clean out their front office?

    1. I am more than happy with how my player has been playing. Despite lack luster defensive play, I am getting top line minutes and am playing up to it.

    2. My player is living up to how I have upgraded him and is a solid top line playmaker. My character's best skills are skating and passing so my many assists mean I am playing up to the hype.

    3. I am unsure about how the draft works? I am currently on a team but am still am eligible to be drafted.

    5. Montreal Canadiens forever and always, with Bergevin out they will be ushering in a new culture of winning.

    6. Ovechkin will pass Gretzky there is no doubt in my mind that he will it is just a matter of time. I highly doubt he will retire before breaking the record.

    8. I have been saying for some time that Calgary needs to rebuild, the current core has given them no success and I feel that if they do not make a deep playoff push this year, they will need to clean house.

  18. The Junior Review of First Year Mexico City Kings Player Benjamin Franklin Chang

I have been playing the wonderful sport of hockey for seemingly all of my life. Growing up in Botswana, there were very few hockey rinks as well as a strong lack of people wanting to play the amazing sport of puck. In spite of this, I grew up to love the sport due to my Canadian father's love of the game being instilled in me from an early age. My mother, a Chinese woman, was not nearly as fond of the sport as my father but still supported me through thick and thin.

Growing up as a Botswana hockey player definitely proved to be challenging, however I feel as though it has made me a more resilient person, as well as a more resilient player on the ice. While the lack of ice time certainly stunted my development as a player, once I moved to Canada when I was sixteen years old, I was able to catch up on the missed time on the ice. Coming to Canada and observing the Hockey and level of play across the country was a culture shock for sure. The love for the sport from British Colombia to Prince Edward Island was something I had only heard of up until that point. Because as previously mentioned, Hockey was a relatively new concept in Botswana, never mind a country wide adored past time. I am a proud Botswanan Hockey player and will represent the Blue and Black until I eventually decide to hang up the skates. Because of the lack of support for hockey in my home country, I am hoping to be an inspiration for younger generations of Botswanan boys and girls to pick up a stick and play the sport that we have all grown to love here in the VHL. I feel that by the simple fact of me being in the VHL, the game of Hockey is already being spread to my home country and I hope that in spite of the year round hot weather, that funding as well as public interest increase.

A main aspiration of my being in the VHL is to make enough money of the course of my career to be able to market the game of Hockey in Botswana by means of building the necessary infrastructure in order to support the growth and development of young players to eventually make a pipeline to lead them to the VHL. Overall, I am very much looking forward to the season and career I have ahead of me. Pictured below is one of the largest ice rinks in my home country. As you can clearly see, it leaves much to be desired. This is the primary motivation behind my wanting to increase the popularity of the sport among the youth in my hometown.

    1. Going into Season 81, what are your expectations for your player?
    2. What are you looking forward to most this coming season?
    3. What made you come to the VHL? If you're a veteran, what made you stay?
    4. What kind of player are you hoping to become? HoF? Or something more modest?
    5. Mexico is home to a vibrant food culture, what's your favorite type of food and why?
    6. Mexico is also home to a robust history, even dating back to early civilization! What's a fun fact about the history of where you're from?
    7. Early favorite for the Stanley Cup?
    8. What non-hockey team do you follow most?

    1. I am not expecting much out of Benjamin Franklin Chang, it is only my first season in the VHL. In spite of this I am hoping to see steady improvement week to week from my player.

    2. I am looking forward to hopefully being linemates with long time friend Lucas Accardi.

    3. My friend Lucas told me about the VHL and it sounded like a cool concept so I decided to check it out and was impressed.

    4. I am aiming to be better than my friends when it is all said and done. All three of us made VHL players at the same time so I am hoping to best them in the end.

    5. Sushi is by far my favourite food. If i was forced to eat any food for the rest of my life it would undoubtedly be sushi because of the ever changing variety and quality.

    7. The Montreal Canadiens are winning it all, they are just off to a rough start but will surely bounce back and have a long cup run just like last year.
