My Shoutouts for Appreciation Week

Funny enough, I was in the middle of writing a completely different Media Spot. I am so glad I checked my notifications so I could quickly make the switch up. I just copy and pasted what I was working on into Word, and saved it for next time. I know on Discord, and even here on the forums I mess around 90% of the time. I enjoy joking around, having fun exchanges with the other members here. I hope people know I am genuinely always being light hearted. If I ever offend, or take it to a place that makes you have a negative reaction, just DM me! I will never take it to the aspect of bullying, or ever trying to ruin someone's day. I try to do quite the opposite. I came back after a 10 year absence this past November right before Thanksgiving. I like to think I made quite a few friends on here since my time coming back, or at least people who I think we have a mutual enjoyment of talking. Whether that be in Gen Chat, or the team locker room. I am going to do my best here to put aside the jokes (not completely), and say some nice things about people who have made an impact on me since my return. There are so many, so I am going to try to keep this as short as I can.

1. @samx

"Do you like chicken nuggets?" I wish I knew back then what I know now. That is never answer yes to Sam when she asks this question or you are truly stuck with her. Whether it is random stories about near death, or not so near death experiences, or being banished from the Halifax 21st locker room, the VHL experience with Sam has been one like any other. She can come off tough, and straight It forward (which I like because you know you're never getting bullshit from her) but she is just a big softy. She will never admit it, but is is true. There was a point every day where Sam would DM me "Is this baby here?" "Baby?" and that made me genuinely happy. Someone who I had just met on a virtual hockey site was that interested in something going on with me, and asking how my wife was doing I will never forget it. Thank you for being caring enough to ask about important events in my life, and trying to get my wife to join the forum lmao. Your passion for the VHLM has also helped not only Halifax and the army, I mean members on it but it has helped the M as a whole. Having GMs that care that much will help it thrive, and give the new members reason to stick around.

2. @Spartan

Spartan is without a doubt one of, if not the top person's chops I love busting. The favor is always returned, and usually in a ten-fold. I also have some of the most informative conversations with this guy, and it usually takes place in the Moscow locker room. It is probably my favorite group of people to talk to. And half of us in the daily discussions aren't even on Moscow, but that is what makes it fun. As much shit as we may give you Spartan, under it all there has to be a deep appreciation. At least from me, the work you have put into this league is what has helped it thrive, and can thrive even more if more of your ideas are able to be pushed through. Spreadsheets, talking to yourself in the BOG discussions what more can you ask for? You're not afraid to step up and point up what is broken in the league AND have a solution to try to fix it. Whereas many members are quick to point and complain, but offer no help in a potential solution. You are not allowed to go anywhere for a long time my friend.

3. @frescoelmo

Fresco, the guy you can always count on when the rising fire elmo gif or emoji is posted. I forget half the time he is a mod, until I got a temporary 15 second ban for the kicks and giggles. This guy is just so chill, and enjoys the simple things in life. A nice BBQ in the southside, where there is a selection of some good beers. Why wouldn't anyone want to hangout with someone so low maintenance and easy going? He only puts on his Andy Bernard "hard ass" hat when he has to, and even then it seems like it is such a mild way. If I am ever out in the Windy City, I will have to stop by the balcony for one, or 12.

4. @fishy

First impression of fishy was "Oh shit, do not mess with this one." lmao. However, you then realize fishy's tone is more passionate, and non-aggressive at all when you get to know them more. They always want the best for everyone, trying to pass the positive vibes in any way. But if you cross them, or try to talk negatively about anyone else or even yourself especially, that is where fishy's non tolerance policy kicks in. All fishy wants is for everyone to feel respected, and to show some self-love. Plus I enjoy the weekly press conferences, the questions are always fun and in depth. I am very happy to be rocking it on DC with you, and appreciate you and all that you do for the VHL community. We need a fishy here always!

5. @Moon

When I first came back, I saw Mooner as a frequent Gen Chat poster. We had first talked in there when he came back at Horcrux pretty hard in one thread after they were getting into it with a few members of the mod team. I then started the bid "Moon for Comish" for fun. What happened next, I did not expect Moon to offer me position as his AGM, and it was a great decision. Working with Moon has been fun, and I learned a lot from him despite him being younger than me. He knew how to run a team, and make his players on Houston feel welcomed and motivated. Great guy to talk to, very easy going and hoping all the goals he has set are accomplished (which I know they will). Then when Moon offered to stay on as my AGM after he stepped down, I was thrilled. His counsel has always been very much appreciated. Always got your back buddy!

6. @Vkobe-v

Can one really have a shoutout thread and not mention Kobe? Always bringing the good vibes, and asking how people are. You have no idea how much those little things can mean to a person. A lot of people feel like they aren't cared for enough to be asked how their day is going. Little things like that can't go unappreciated. I look forward to future discussions in the Moscow LR, and I hope the rest of your baseball season goes great, and you feel great going into football training camp this summer.

7. @Doomsday

Dooms, one of my OG friends. Always coming in clutch with the random, hilarious memes. Bringing in the good vibes to the Moscow LR discussions no matter what it may be. And even reflects some serious life/psychological as well and then immediately lightens the mood with another meme. I was thrilled to see when you were named Toronto's GM, we know you are going to do an incredible job with it. Already off to a great start the first season in. I look forward to more discussions in the LR!

8. @Shindigs

The guy only wins the day on forum reactions every other day right? Another one of the Moscow LR friends who probably busts my chops more than I can give back. However it is in the friendliest way. Our players are from the same draft class so it is been a fun poke at another now that we are both finally in the VHL. Shindigs is another one who really cares about the league, and is always offering input on any controversial subject or ways to improve it. The discussions in the Moscow LR are always insightful and fun. Plus when we can both poke fun at Sam, it makes it all the better right? I appreciate the discussions buddy!

9. @Enorama

Gotta throw some love to the GM right? Eno had reached out to me a few times before the draft to ask if I was interested in joining DC, and it wasn't a copy and paste survey either. I felt like my player was wanted and then on draft day he asked again if I wanted to be a Dragon, to which I of course said yes. He took a leap of faith and drafted me well before I was anticipated to. I am thankful for the treatment I have gotten in DC, and I look forward to my player's growth since the only way is up right? Lmao. He has done a fantastic job in DC, and I have faith in the organization.

10. Other special Shoutouts:

@DilFor all of his great work on the portal. You can always count on sarcastic responses, but he is genuinely helpful and has made the experience here much better, and far more convenient. Thanks for keeping me young buddy!

@N0HBDYMy wife would thank you for putting the pressure on for child #3, but I am going to thank you for being apart of the Moscow LR discussions, I always enjoy them man. Also, keep up the great work with the Trivia, I genuinely enjoy doing it every week.

@OrbitingDeath Always a great time when you join in the Moscow LR discussions man, I also pull for Idaho every sim!

@MexicanCow123For always stepping in to sim when we need it the most. Cow sims are the best sims.

@v.2Always keeping the faith, and I always have a laugh with in the DC LR/Gen Chat. We are always looking for the latest league drama, even though it has been too quiet lately.

@scoopRocking it in DC with my Davos OG, hoping Lavelle can help Mourning out more in the future!

@DomFor being a great guy.

@Lemorse7El Paso!

Commissioner Team:  @Beketovand @JoshThank you for putting up with all of out shit, and keeping the league in order, keeping it up to date. I never would have thought in my wildest dreams the VHL would still be up and running 10 years later. I know it is a thankless job, but I always support our blue team. This goes out to the VHLE commissioners as well, you guys have done a fantastic job despite the controversy that surrounds the E. @Acydburnyou and @rjfrymanhave done a great job getting the league off the ground, and trying to help it grow.  And the VHLM commissioners who have been great to work with daily. @McWolf and @diamond_ace I appreciate the opportunity you guys gave me to be here in Houston, and look forward to continuing working with you guys!

The Community: It may be a cesspool at times, but the community seems to come together when it matters most. I am sorry I couldn't mention everyone, but I look forward to getting to know more of you guys, and the continued conversation!

Don't see my name anywhere, so I think this is bad...

But on a serious note I like these articles. I'm a huge fan of this particular theme week for articles like this, where we can step aside from the league and recognize individual members who make each and every day fun in this tight knit community we have. I like the write up and each member and I'm sure it makes these guys feel awesome. 9/10
