3- Are you excited that you might live on in the Reapers history books?

Would be pretty cool. I've been lucky enough to have my players be named after a couple of VHL/VHLM Awards so it's definitely cool to be a part of history. I highly doubt Graves would be given an award, but if I was to be drafted to Philly, I would do my best to shoot for an award!

5- How many should we give out?

They are fictional awards, so you could literally have multiple for each member - however, I would suggest maybe just a handful, make it feel special to actually gain the award.

6-How do you feel about the VHL expanding?

Very exciting, no doubt. More teams and more competition in the league. After seeing so many seaqsons where we were struggling to have each team in an 8 team league get a full first line - to now, where we need more teams so that top stars can actually get ice time, is a real positive for the league.

7-How do you feel about the league and it's constant expansion?

It's a good trend to be in. I think this expansion feels right, it doesn't seem as though we are expanding for the sake of it. The league seems very active, and it is exciting to once again be in a draft class where there is legitimate competition.

8-Philly had a number of it's own announcements, now that the smoke has cleared how do you feel about having a GM that quit and came back in under 48 hours.

It happens, I think for the most part everyone is just happy to see Blade stay. I think she is a great manager in the VHLM, and she will shine when she gets an opportunity in the VHL. Impulsive decisions happen, people make mistakes and are allowed to take them back. I really don't think it's a big deal. It's a good lesson to perhaps always sleep on a decision before making it, and always have a clear head when doing so.

9-If you were to GM a team in the VHL what would it be and how you you brand it?

It would depend on the team. I think the VHL has such a rich history and I really have loved all the teams and their history. I think if I was forced to rebrand or relocate (either/or) I would say just bring back the Stockholm Vikings. Boubabi made what I believe is the best logo we've ever had with the Vikings, and Stockholm is a great hockey city. I'm assuming when they were dismembered from the league it was because it was a newer franchise, which had less history to lose. IMO it would be a great franchise to bring back.

Hello Reaper Nation! I'm being a little lazy this week and only doing 10 questions!  Theme is Questions that VHL GMs Would Love You to Answer! A reminder for all our new Reapers that answering 3 is worth 1 tpe and answering 6 is worth 2 !

1-How important is winning to you?

2- Are you flexible with your player build? Do you have a set image of the type of player you would want to be in the pros?

3- Do you have your heart set out on joining a specific team or are you willing to go anywhere?

4- List your top 3 go to teams:

5- How important is salary to you? Would you take a pay cut to better your team in the future?

6- How important is having a good locker room to you as a player, are you a forum person or are you a discord person?

7- What is the most important thing a GM should provide for you as a player to keep you interested?

8- Are you interested in the extras like RP, games nights and team awards? What do the extras help keep you invested in the VHL?

9- Do you plan to keep at your current activity level?

10- Are you going up to the big leagues or saying down for round 2?

3- Do you have your heart set out on joining a specific team or are you willing to go anywhere?
Specific teams, mainly the two expansion ones. Would love to be there from the start of a franchise.
I really have my heart set on it so much that i'm not sure what I will do if it doesn't happen.

4- List your top 3 go to teams:
Enorama
Diamond_Ace
Moscow
With the top 2 in no particular order. Moscow just to fill out the list for your question.

5- How important is salary to you? Would you take a pay cut to better your team in the future?

Depends on the team, if someone drafts me without talking to me about it, better prepare to pay up a lot.

7- What is the most important thing a GM should provide for you as a player to keep you interested?
Post weekly press conference questions so we can answer them for TPE ;)

9- Do you plan to keep at your current activity level?
Yes, I would like to see how far I can push it with Adrienne, but I need to be happy about how the draft will turn out to be sure. I'm not wasting away my years on a team I don't want to play for.

10- Are you going up to the big leagues or saying down for round 2?
Up, it's not like i have another choice.

1. As the coach it’s very important

2. I’d love to be a great scorer and if I get drafted by a expansion team, I could always be their franchise player.

3. Calgary and Enorama's team those two are looking great

4. 1 (T) Calgary and Expansion team (enorama) 3 Helsinki is in that range

5. Not crazy important though I’d look a decent amount

6. A discord person I’d say I’m quiet the guy in the LR.

6-How do you feel about the VHL expanding?
It got me excited, before creating Adrienne I had played for all active franchises beside the new ones. With two more and the chance to be part of the start of a franchise has gotten me excited.

7-How do you feel about the league and it's constant expansion?
It's the complete opposite of the direction the league was headed in when I created Warlock as a 2nd player. It's great to see it grow again.

8-Philly had a number of it's own announcements, now that the smoke has cleared how do you feel about having a GM that quit and came back in under 48 hours.
Did you quit? I must have missed that.

10-there have been a lot for announcements this week, make your own. (make me laugh)
I would like to apologise to Moscow and Malmo for saying all year long I wanted to join them, only to slip them aside and no longer want to now some newer teams appear and I can be on it from the start. I'll make it up to both of you one day :D

13- If you manage to survive the apocalypse, what do you think your post-apocalyptic job would be?
I think I would run a daycare for radioactive kittens.

14- What’s the most imaginative insult you can come up with right now?
You are Fang Flashback!

I missed the first round so gotta make up for lost time.

12-Who got sloppy drunk and made bad decisions?

The real question here is who didn't?

1- Did you do how you expected this season?
Not at all, after an MVP 114 point season Borwinn fell to just 77. Helsinki had stretches of greatness but for the most part struggled with line chemistry. That being said, we are one game from making the VHL finals.

2- Blade put on the Golden Scythe Awards, did you win anything?
The awards were very well presented. Obviously I was not eligible as a member of the management staff but it was fun to read the awards and gauge the reactions.

3- How Did you feel about The Awards Given out this season at out team Awards?
Could not have been better. Blade is the best of the best and she shines the brightest when creating an immersive experience for her team.

5- Name one fun thing about being a Reaper?
You really never know what crazy RP storyline is going to come out of that locker-room.

6-  Who is your off season Golf buddy? (I'm booking us all Tee Times lol)
Sunny Burst. Quiet on the greens peeps!

1. Personally, I expected that I would have more goals than assists, just based off the playstyle im aiming for. But overall, i think i did pretty well points wise.

2. I got the guy most likely to be rocking out in the dressing room award, pretty accurate i think.
4. I will be going up the bigs to play for Moscow. I had a really great time in the VHLM and will miss everyone here.

5. Everyone is super chill in the LR, and you can get pretty confused at whats going on if you come in at the wrong time.

6. Fang. Despite being a maniac on the ice, hes actually really calm on the course somehow.

9. Burgs stuffed with cheese and jalapenos, they were unreal.

1- Did you do how you expected this season?

Yeah, I figured I would be around 100 TPE by the end of the season. Figured with my build I could be a reliable depth scorer and it seemed like it worked. Wish the results would have went better anbd we could have gotten a cup with Philly. But I'm glad by the end of the year my TPE level was higher than the inactives I replaced and made Philly a better team (on paper at least).

2- Blade put on the Golden Scythe Awards, did you win anything?

I did. I had a three way tie. The awards were great and I think it's a fantastic thing that Blade has done to create a sense of recognition to newer members. It goes a long way when you are first starting, so it is nice to see these kind of things happen in the VHLM.

4-Waiver players are you looking to get redrafted by Philly or seek out new adventures with a new team?

Yeah I would 100% be on board for a return to Philly. I think I'll be drafted in the area of the first round where the Reapers are drafting, so there should be a decent opportunity for a reunion.

5- Name one fun thing about being a Reaper?

Very active, very team focused. The management staff has created a great culture and welcoming environment. They've landed great members and have put together a fun program here. Great VHLM franchise, I firmly believe we will see prospects prosper here for many seasons to come.

9- What did Blade Feed you? Was it good?

Tacos, and delicious lul.

1. I did actually. Of course i’m always looking to do more, but in terms of the goals I had set out for myself I can’t say I was short in achieving them

2. Yes I did! I was given “The Grinder” award. It was nice to know my efforts were being appreciated ?

3. It was cool. I haven’t been around in too many sim leagues but I like the idea of giving out awards (be it playful or effort based) to give a sense of belonging. Real dope stuff!

4. I’m thinking of staying down in the minors. I feel I could develop just a tad more before going off and playing against the big dogs of the VHL. Of course this is all just my thinking. Not absolutely set on it just yet.

5. The locker room and discord atmosphere. Now as part of this team i’ve probably been one of the most absent players on the team, but I do love that there are players on the team that can get along and talk about any and everything. Just cool to see. I know if I were to hop into the chats i’d be welcomed with open arms as well. It’s just not me though ?

7. C! Why wreck the places of our own teams’ when we can do it to someone else’s and not have to worry about it (too much) later! ?

8. I like the extras and RP to a good extent

9. Yes I’m trying to, but I have a hurricane coming soon so yup.

10. Going up to the big leagues wish me luck

1b. I thought I could hit 90 points but I had a slow ending still a point per game with a solid hit total

2b. I forget what I won besides the ones I submitted.

1- Did you do how you expected this season?
Nope, not at all. I expected to be contributing more offensively. I was dissapointed with how my player performed and due to the cap I could not adjust during the season.

2- Blade put on the Golden Scythe Awards, did you win anything?
Best returning member and best press conference answers, so two nice Scythes.

3- How Did you feel about The Awards Given out this season at out team Awards?
Original and fun, this goes a lot further than the normal 'most goals' kind of awards

4- Are you staying down in the Minors of going up to the big leagues? Waiver players are you looking to get redrafted by Philly or seek out new adventures with a new team?
Since I'll be hitting 400 tpe I have outgrown the VHLM two times already, so cant even come back.

5- Name one fun thing about being a Reaper?
A locker room that is always active due to having some insomniac americans/canadians on there.

15- Are you ever going to attend another Reapers party again?
I'll stick around for the parties for sure. This was the best minor league experience so far.

Season 68 Questions

Answer all 6 of these questions and claim for 2 TPE, or feel free to grab questions from earlier in the thread if you don't want to answer these

1) To new team members, what do you think it means to be a Reaper? For existing team members, how will you teach your new team mates the ways of the Reaper?
2) What are you expectations for the team this season?
3) What are your personal expectations for this season?
4) The Reapers' home arena, the Crematorium, was built on a graveyard. Do you think this provides a distinct home ice advantage? How come?
5) What is the first thing you did when you landed in Philly?
6) Any interesting stories from the off-season?

1) To new team members, what do you think it means to be a Reaper? For existing team members, how will you teach your new team mates the ways of the Reaper?
I played in Ottawa last season and the Reapers were always super close to us in the rankings so every time they lost, it was an occasion to celebrate. Now I guess it will be all about learning to reverse the hate. The locker room seems really cool already.

2) What are you expectations for the team this season?
I think we're one of the teams that will lose a couple of players to the VHL? But I have faith in Maximus and at this point I'd really like to make the playoffs.

3) What are your personal expectations for this season?
My first season in Ottawa was pretty embarrassing, stats wise. By starting on the first line, I hope I can get good results early on and to be modest, I'd like to finish top 5 in scoring on the team at least. It would be sad if I don't achieve that at least.

4) The Reapers' home arena, the Crematorium, was built on a graveyard. Do you think this provides a distinct home ice advantage? How come?
498ed76be651cffb6bb9bac6a9bb75c3.jpg

I don't think it was a very good idea to disturb all the people burried there. I've watched enough horror movies to see how this could end.

5) What is the first thing you did when you landed in Philly?
I took a selfie in front of the home arena, where a poster of myself was visible, to prove to my parents I wasn't a complete failure.

6) Any interesting stories from the off-season?
Well, I won the title with my previous team and I got drafted to Philly. I'd say that's interesting :D

Otherwise I'm boring af so no.

1) To new team members, what do you think it means to be a Reaper? For existing team members, how will you teach your new team mates the ways of the Reaper?

-I'm still new to the league but from what I've seen the Reapers are a strong team with great leadership, so being a Reaper means working together, leaving no one behind, and getting those W's
2) What are you expectations for the team this season?

-The team made the playoffs last year, so I'm expecting another deep playoff run
3) What are your personal expectations for this season?

-Work on my defensive game, I'm not going to lead the league in hitting but I'd like to come up in the conversation.  Maybe record a couple of assists here and there.
4) The Reapers' home arena, the Crematorium, was built on a graveyard. Do you think this provides a distinct home ice advantage? How come?

-I imagine the opponents locker room could be a pretty spooky place before some of those late games, that alone could throw some players off their game.
5) What is the first thing you did when you landed in Philly?

-Got off the plane, checked into the hotel, then straight to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to run up the steps like Rocky
6) Any interesting stories from the off-season?

-Tried to have a quiet off-season but the anticipation for the draft was too strong, spent too much time looking at those mocks and trying to figure out where I'd end up.

Being an existing member, just being there for my teammates when they need me and leading by example on the ice. We’re a pretty passionate group here and if I can help spread that passion, it’ll be all the better.

I’m not entirely sure what to expect. We lost a few teammates who did quite a bit of heavy lifting for us, but we have guys who are also ready to step up in a big way. I’m thinking we’ll still be a top team this season for sure but it’ll take a lot of hard work.

I would hope that we’d have a chance at winning the cup this year, personally. Besides that, I would think that my name should be mentioned as a top defenseman this year. Good be wishful thinking but that’s a goal of mine for sure

I’d think so. Who would want to play in a possible “haunted” arena. Imagine the rumors spread around the league? I’d be frightened as an away player to step on to the ice here. Well that and we’re a good team as well ?

Met up with my cousin from the SBA, Roy Johnson, and went to try our first Philly cheesesteak sandwich. I gotta say it didn’t disappoint.

Can’t say I have any. It was pretty busy with off season training and helping my cousin move to New York that I didn’t really develop any.

Philly has always had a bit of a stigma about there teams and the way they play. I think being a Reaper is still upholding that. Play tough hockey, and not give an inch. Make whoever it is we are playing that day work for whatever they want. If they want to sit in front of me, let them know they arnt welcome. But I have a feeling my defense will be already on top of that.

The Reapers made a deep run last year, and I would hope we can again this year. From what I understand we lost a few good players to the VHL this year, but it looks like a lot of the vetrans are ready to take over those leadership roles.

This is my rookie season, and already been given enough confidence to be given a starting roll. This year, I just want want to keep us in the game, and give us a chance to win.

Wait, there is no way that is serious. (A few of the reporters nod saying it actually is) In that case, I would say it does. No one would want to play in a haunted rink. Lights flicker in the nosebleeds? Maybe its actually ghosts, and not the wires shorting out in the lights that we all know about.

First thing? Try and learn the city. I'm not use to being in a city nearly close to this size. Been trying out some spots to eat. Any suggestions?

New questions for this week! Answer all 6 and claim for 2 TPE:

1)      The season is underway. How does it feel to be back on the ice again?

2)      The Reapers are off to a slow start this season, being just under .500 after their 1st 6 games. Why do you think that is?

3)      What do you think the team needs to do to improve?

4)      The early season point leader is Free Agent signing Ben McGirr. Why do you think he has had such a successful start?

5)      3 of the first 6 games were against Halifax. Do you like playing the same team is such a short amount of time, or would you prefer the games to be spread out?

6)      Outside of studying film during practice, how much hockey do you watch?

.1. Feels amazing especially seeing how much i've improved over the off-season

2. Well losing our top goalie didn't help but the season has just started so no cause for alarm we just have to keep improving and i know the new goalie will be great.

3. Well our defense could improve which is what i'm gonna try to focus on personally.

4. He's a good player so i can't say i'm surprised and some new chemistry might have helped.

5. spread out so we can get a better feel of how we match up to other teams.

6. well most nights when theirs a game on i try to watch or if my local team is playing.

1)      The season is underway. How does it feel to be back on the ice again?
Feels great. It's fun to look at stats again.

2)      The Reapers are off to a slow start this season, being just under .500 after their 1st 6 games. Why do you think that is?
I think losing our starter to the VHL hurt us a lot. It's not that we can't score, it's more about the fact that we lose high scoring games.

3)      What do you think the team needs to do to improve?
Once our goalie gets more training, I'm sure we will start to see improvement. That goes for the entire team but that's our most immediate need.

4)      The early season point leader is Free Agent signing Ben McGirr. Why do you think he has had such a successful start?
Probably because he plays on a line with me.

5)      3 of the first 6 games were against Halifax. Do you like playing the same team is such a short amount of time, or would you prefer the games to be spread out?
Doesn't make much of a difference to me but the schedule is a bit weirdly made for that.

6)      Outside of studying film during practice, how much hockey do you watch?
Hiroshi Okada likes to watch himself play so he will rewatch all of the Philadelphia Reapers games.

1)      The season is underway. How does it feel to be back on the ice again?

Good to be out there after being drafted, still getting used to the team and their style of play

2)      The Reapers are off to a slow start this season, being just under .500 after their 1st 6 games. Why do you think that is?

Probably shaking off some of the off season rust, I know I'm looking to improve and start helping out the team

3)      What do you think the team needs to do to improve?

Need to be better about keeping the puck out of our net, and putting it in the opponents net

4)      The early season point leader is Free Agent signing Ben McGirr. Why do you think he has had such a successful start?

Good with and without the puck, can set up plays and score

5)      3 of the first 6 games were against Halifax. Do you like playing the same team is such a short amount of time, or would you prefer the games to be spread out?

I'd think you'd familiar with a teams playstyle and be able to use that to adjust your strategy to win if you're playing the same team

6)      Outside of studying film during practice, how much hockey do you watch?

Always watching players I admire and would like to model my play style after

- It feels great. Always nice to go back out there and compete after a nice off season break.

- I think our “slow start” is all that really is. As a team we’ve all practiced together, but it’s our first few games as a team taken the ice against other people aside from ourselves. With a few of the players leaving from last season it’ll take a bit of time to also build up some chemistry on the ice to be playing at our full potential. I’m not too concerned.

3)      What do you think the team needs to do to improve?

- On paper there isn’t much we need to improve on. We just happened to be losing close games. We have a very strong defense and our offense is getting up there too. Our goalie is still getting the hang of things being brand new, but I trust that he’ll continue to put his best effort for us.

4)      The early season point leader is Free Agent signing Ben McGirr. Why do you think he has had such a successful start?

- I’d say it’s his ability to score when he’s on the ice as well as his ability to find the open man. A change of pace can also inspire a player to perform better as well.

- I personally would prefer it to be more spread out. It’s nice being able to play the same team again so you are able to know how they play so you’ll be better prepared for the next time around. However, getting to play different teams within a stretch will help understand how to go up against each team differently and allows more time for us to switch things up on their end.

- Not as much as I use to. If I’m not studying film or practicing on my own time, I like to spend time on other hobbies and joys in my life.
