Playoff MVP Award "Skylar Rift Trophy"

Each postseason a few players truly rise to the occasion and carry their team on the path of victory. We usually see quite a few nominees and close runs for the award but this time we have a clear winner with no real competition in terms of votes. He embodies courage and ability to be there for his team when they need him the most!

Runner-up for Skylar Rift Trophy is a forward who was a strong force all season long for his Mexico City squad - Jeffrey Pines!

And now S72 Playoff MVP award goes to none else than the brilliant player of Saskatoon Wild - Kazimir Komarov!
    Congratulations  @Gooningitup!

Next up - Regular Season MVP award, the Mitch Higgins Trophy!

So basically San Deigo thought they were smart taking 2 goalies. They then tried to get assets back, got a later pick then used on him minny then flips Eagle for 3 assets then uses a higher pick to get Penguin from the Yukon.

Winners Yukon and Minny, losers San Diego

Hard to really say the draft will change their teams more than the expansion.
Minny just went all in so they have to be the favourites.
No, even with Conway hes just 1 piece. Going to need some sim magic to beat Miami or Minny
Unsure VHLM draft is all over the place and with lack of updates these past few days its unclear.
If Krestanovich graduates, then its him 0 debate he will have big time ice time on a rebuilding squad. If not him Brandt has the potential.
Why we worrying about next season this is season 73 not 74 worry about that when that bridge crosses.

I feel bad if the Minny GM has to step down before Season 76. Basically all in on this season, hopefully works out for them

Askarov has no idea where he is projected too go, there is a few goalies from last season up for grabs, along with 2 high profile goalies this season. Which means he knows his name will be called in the later rounds. Likely the 4th of 5th goalie off the board barring a suprise retirement from a big name member.

There are a a few teams with goalies who likely will not graduate. They may draft Askarov, as the future but the hope is he can be a starter elsewhere. He is determined to be a stud, though he will settle to be a back up ideally he wants to start as soon as this year. There is only so many spots though so, he may have to settle for the back up job this season.

Tomorrow is the draft and time will tell just what the future holds for the russian netminder. Unlike Komarov the early results have been promising for the young goalie.

A new player has joined the gooningitup agency. His homeland still Russia, however for the first time ever since player 2 was gone. It will not be a Komarov, and it will not be a player. Instead enters a 6 foot 6 monster from Russia who looks to be the next big thing from the homeland. Vsevolod Askarov the hulking goalie who looks to cement a new legacy, is eager to prove himself after the agency last player just never really hit the ground running. Kazimir will have a big speech coming on the weekend explaining why he has decided to step away from hockey, till then this will serve a the first announcement out of this agency. The other big news is Askarov will be joined by his twin brother Agapov who is a bit shorter than his brother, and plays defensive style game. They have grown up and before announcing their move to the VHL they were over in their homeland dominating the MHL Vsevolod has a 1.25gaa and 942sv% in 40 games last season, well his brother posted a very respectable 25 points in 50 gp with a sparkling +50 playing on the same team the Krasnaya Armiya Moskva a mouth full of a team name we know.

The brothers have asked to play for the same team as they both have no been separated since birth, so a team looking to add one should look to add the other. Both are fine falling in the draft is that is what it is going to take to fulfill their wish. It is unclear what might occur if they do not play for the same team, goons agency tries to keep the drama low ideally just hopes GMs will listen and draft them together. Time will tell if we have a future superstar on our hands, however Askarov has made it clear he is motivated this time around to truly build something he is proud of and hopes he can build a future super star in the making.

Will your team take a gamble on these 2? Where will they both land? Only time will tell just what occurs, but whoever does snag the hulking Russian keeper is going to get a gem of a player. Along with an agent eager to prove himself as he builds what he hopes is a star in the making. The agent is excited for a new challenge in handling a goalie prospect, and hopes teams are too.

This theme week seems to be about our bosses wanting their respective asses kissed. Wanting us to talk about all the positives in the league. There certianly are some positives to this league, i would not have been here this long if not for that if it was all negative. Today we will give you some positives and negatives about the league.

Pro and Con # 1: The People

The first 1 is a pro and a con, because of course like the world there are some very special people.  Id say the majority of people here are great people that i have had positive interactions with. Ive been here a long time and for the most part ive enjoyed my time here and the people i have met. I personally find myself talking less since the move to discord, then when we had most of the chat on forums. Where missing an hour doesnt mean reading 7million messages just to try to catch up. Personally im not high on discord because i feel you could miss to many good convos or important information. However, like earth there are some bad people, those who trive on drama. Internet tough guys, dreama queens, and just some people putting on an act.
The internet is full of fake personalities and since the spike in members here there are plenty more then there used to be.

    Pro #2: Ice time

Honestly i think this league is better than other sims i have been involved in because teams are not 4 lines deep. Your not typically stuck playing low ice time not producing, and bored. Given this type of league is all about just reading stats not watching games that makes it better for members. You can actually see your player producing rather than "earning" a role. Given there is not much else to do in the league the idea of 4 line deep teams is off putting. Having 2 lines most teams 3 on true contenders means everyone usually can earn meaningful ice time.

Con # 2: League carrying more about getting members than keeping them.

Yes i said it, many moves have angered me honestly if i did not like the GM in Beavis who drafted Komarov id probably have just retired. They continue to strip TPE away claiming inflation. But then honor TPE bumps for members who do not even post in our forum, and the opposite league does not do the same for our members. That means as a functioning contributing to this league forum member i could earn LESS than someone who posts a link to another league. For a league to claim its all about their members then slash earning rates so drastically its kinda like buying a used car an hoping its not broken.

    Pro # 3: Portal

I honestly can say i love portal, it just makes things so much easier, neater and smoother than the old way. I dont need to do a whole ton of steps an hope i added right the forum does it all for me. Saving me time an headaches, it can take abit of getting used to for new people, but i feel the system is just much better than when i joined the league.

Overall the league is good, but lets not pretend it is without its flaws. I believe in being open an new members should see the good and the bad. I did not cover everything here, because well the word count going over 500 does not do me anything extra.

Gooningitup got a reaction from McWolf in Big games for Komarov
Last night Komarov took over, putting up a massive 10 points in 2 games. It seems he has started to get hot lately. As he shows up more an more for practice teams are wondering what has changed.

The russian barely was training early, seeing him fall to the late rounds in juniors. Late rounder in the VHL, aswell. Now he has suddendly come on strong earning, a good amount of practice time an it has started to pay off on ice performance.

The biggest question is how long will he maintain this progress? If he continues it would be the second fastest rate he has had in his career behind Sergei Komarov who as we all know was a beast in his days. He hopes to atleast be a solid role player for many seasons.

For now Saskatoon is happy to see this hulking Russian dominate juniors as he continues to climb the scoring leaderboards. Sadly it has not seen progress in the standings as it appears to be on pace to end the season in 7th place.

    1. End of the day every point counts so of course it is huge.
    2. Better at hitting homeruns still, but he has been valueable in net for us. Shame he likely is not our goalie in net next year.
    3. He has always been a creeper so not shocking
    4. If the puck is going to Komarov for the shoot 100%, if not 0%
    5. Honestly not sure how i fit into anyones plans with my development not being that great
    6. All of them get tested bro
