Baby Boomer 765
@LucyXpher Welcome everyone, I know that the season is already underway, and I can already feel that this is going to be a really exciting season. Indeed, doing the prediction of the rankings was pretty hard because a lot of teams are pretty similar overall. I am really excited for this season, but before we can really start, here is the S97 VHLM Season Preview. #1 San Diego Marlins Offense rank: 2nd Defense rank: T-1st Goalie rank: 5th The San Diego Marlins are the perfect example of a mix between great veterans, such as Jean-Pierre Devote @eagle_3450 and Blaze Thunderstrike @eaglesfan036, and promising rookies such as Zak Tropper @Peace and Cardinal Copia @Beketov, that will eventually become stars on the team. The Marlins can also count on Ricky LaFleur @DarkSpyro in the net to keep them in the game each night. The San Diego Marlins finished seventh in the league last season, but this season I really don't see them finishing outside the top 3. #2 Miami Marauders Offense rank: 3rd Defense rank: 5th Goalie rank: 2nd On paper, the Miami Marauders are currently one of the best teams in the league and are looking pretty scary. Indeed, the Marauders have one of the best goalies in the league in Draw Mac @okochastar, who will start his 3rd and final season with the team before jumping to the VHL. On offense, Elf shoes @ELF_SH0ES, Luc Moreau @minman, and Jacob Longstreet @Dynamicmlb_42 are going to be the leaders of this team, and on defense, Dog Jagr @koty_kand Armas Jortikka @Kavadar will be the two generals. After finishing fourth last season, the Miami Marauders will probably look to improve their record a little bit and finish in the top 3. #3 Houston Bulls Offense rank: 4th Defense rank: 3rd Goalie rank: 3rd After finishing eighth in the standings last season, the Houston Bulls will also try to finish in the top 3 this season and make a push in the playoffs. Led by Bartholomew Lorequavius @jaypc8237 in the net, and Alex LeBlanc @Psanchez55 and Feka Ohi Kau @Hacob on defense, the Bulls are going to be really good in their own zone. The only little thing we can find that could hurt Houston is the lack of first line forwards. Indeed, except Cash Carti @v.2 , the American team will maybe find it difficult to score goals against teams with good defense or good goaltending. #4 Las Vegas Aces Offense rank: 7th Defense rank: T-1st Goalie rank: 4th With the best defense in the league, composed of Kazuma Satou @Spartan , Albin Aldgard @animal74, Mathias Gunnarsson @ThatCanadian, and Manuel Ceson @dylanjj37, and one of the best goalies in the league in Onyekachukwu Chidieber Oluwaseun @TenIQ, it will be really difficult to score against the Las Vegas Aces. The only reason I don't think they will finish in the top 3 this season is because of their offense. When you look at their roster, you don't really see any super stars that can carry a team offensively on their shoulders. However, there are still players like Danny Ross @Spartakiller2 and Raoul Cyr @Tyler that can help the team offensively. #5 Halifax 21st Offense rank: 1st Defense rank: 7th Goalie rank: 6th After an unexpected good season in S96, the Halifax 21st will probably look to be competitive again this season as they currently have the best offense in the league. The forwards are led by Inker Belle @WildfireMicro, Ty Duke @TheDuke, and Pelayo Bolivar @SMYLS4 who will have the task to carry their team this season. I don't see the 21st finishing much higher than this because of their defense and goalie. Indeed, they have a pretty young defense and I think it will hurt them a little bit this season, so if they can add some experience on the blue line, the team will start to look really scary. #6 Ottawa Lynx Offense rank: 6th Defense rank: 10th Goalie rank: 1st After losing in the final of the Founder's Cup, the Ottawa Lynx lost a couple of key players and are going to enter a rebuilding phase this season. Even though the Lynx can count on the best goalie of the league in Vladimir Trunov @qripll, Ottawa's defense is really weak and inexperimented. They will have to rely on Joel Jakobs @Plate, Kyle Evans @Kyle Evans and Gingy @MexicanCow123 on offense to score goals and keep the team in the game. #7 Mississauga Hounds Offense rank: 5th Defense rank: 6th Goalie rank: 10th The Mississauga Hounds are a pretty enigmatic team as they have good forwards and solid defensemen, but a really young goalie that is still in development. Offensively, Filip Zinek @FiZi and Jay Sikes @JaySmacksss are the two forwards that can bring something to the table pretty much every game, and defensively, Kurt Bachmann @Blutch and Peter Venkman @Josh are going to be the two quarterbacks of the team. However, because of their really young goalie, I don't really see the Hounds finishing the season in the top 5 of the league. #8 Saskatoon Wild Offense rank: 9th Defense rank: 4th Goalie rank: 8th After a really difficult season in S96, the Saskatoon Wild will try to improve their record a little bit in S97, but I still don't see the team being really competitive this time around. Their goalie is still learning and is not ready to be a top goalie in the VHLM, and their forward core lacks a couple of players to be really dangerous. On the other hand, Saskatoon has one of the best defensive lineups in the league, led by Brigitta Sandstorm @Acydburn and Mikko Tuomala @flyersfan345 and it could win them some games this season. #9 Mexico City Kings Offense rank: 8th Defense rank: 8th Goalie rank: 7th After finishing first of their conference, the Mexico City Kings lost in the first round of the S96 playoffs and also lost a couple of star players to the VHL in the off-season. This means that we are probaby going to see a rebuilding team in Mexico City in S97. With a really young forward core and a young and promising goalie in Pepe Silvia @STZ, the Mexico City Kings could be really dangerous next season if they continue to improve. #10 Philadelphia Reapers Offense rank: 10th Defense rank: 9th Goalie rank: 9th After winning the Prime Minister's Cup and losing to the VHLM playoff champions in the semi-final of S96, the Philadelphia Reapers lost a lot of key players in the off-season and will, without a doubt, be looking to rebuild. The team can still count on some pretty good young players in Jacob Seed @oilmandan and Bazooka Joe @ScottyP to perform well and maybe help the team be competitive next season. That’s all for me, thanks everyone for reading. I wish you all a good season and I'll see you in another VSN article soon! That’s all for me, thanks everyone for reading, I wish you all a good season and see you in another VSN article! Review : This is such a fun read!!! I really love the graphic touch at the very top. That title header really sets a tone for the excellence to begin. Overall this is very easy to read and to follow, I like that you added the team logos throughout the article and name dropped multiple players for each team really going into detail. I really don’t have any complaints and would use this as an example for new players looking to get into article writing. 10/10 LucyXpher 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/153936-vsn-presents-s97-vhlm-season-preview/#findComment-1049110 Share on other sites
