  1. So this is going to be kind of good and kind of bad at the same time, and admittedly even the bad parts are just annoying and nowhere near to the level of retail stories. I'm sure I've had retail stories in the past but I've been out of it for a little over 6 years so I genuinely don't remember any of them.

Anyway, so I'm "central admissions" for a group of 25 hospitals, largely centralized around the Pittsburgh area but one is in Erie, one is in western NY, 4 are out near the Poconos, etc. There's about 40 of us, and directly above us are 5 "IOTs" who are our immediate bosses. My favorite IOT is leaving shortly to become manager of the whole registration department at one of the hospitals (or "Patient Access" as they like to call it - basically she'll be in charge of the people in the ER as well as the people in Outpatient). Now I'd been informed of this a little in advance, but on the day it was officially announced, THAT VERY SAME DAY one of the other IOTs asked me if I was going to put in for it, and after I said I had no interest, continued to push. On one hand, it's nice to be one of the go to people when something like this comes up, but the position would have hours that would be different times on different days, sometimes with short turnarounds between shifts, and get stuck with overtime fairly often. Additionally, being in my position, I know the type of calls we tend to escalate to IOTs and I don't want to be on the receiving end. The paint wasn't even dry on the other one leaving, and even now the position has yet to be posted, and she's pushing me to do a thing that I've vehemently refused to do.

Now if it was just this position on just this occasion, fair enough, but the same one that's been pushing me to put in for IOT has tried in the past to push me to do several other jobs I haven't wanted - ER supervisor at one of the sites (I'm not going back into an actual hospital job unless I'm compensated very well to do so, now that I'm comfortable at home); as well as a position that was created about a year ago that's kind of halfway between my role and an IOT role (this wouldn't have been terrible, except it again had the different shifts on different days, and 3 of the 5 days I'd have been working directly under my least favorite IOT, which actually is not this one, and additionally I'd have had to go into the office about half the time). Yet when I find something I actually do want, she complains about it. Just last week I found a job that's still at home, would be at minimum about $3 more an hour than I'm currently making, does not have calls, and is consistently 8-4 weekdays (I hate mornings, but would put up with it for the rest of the positives of the job). It's still in the same company, it's still considered a promotion from where I currently am, and I really can't find any drawbacks to it other than the shift, which I'm sure I'd get used to. I mentioned it to her, and her response was to tell me I would have to do math (ok, but I like math, so how is that an issue) and try to redirect again to the open IOT spot.

Again, I realize it's still a pretty good position to be in a job where I'm seen as someone that would be viable to promote out, but to have someone who claims to be looking out for me consistently push things that are a terrible fit for me and downplay things that would be much better, it's annoying to have to deal with.

The Rush will win the cup

then who goes next would have to make a phase using the last latter of each word so they in this case would use E,H,L,N,E,E

at what point did we decide cup ends with e

plagiarized a point task (or multiple, can't remember)

He updated for some of his family members on their accounts. Not even multis, definitely not plagiarism. It's bad, but less bad than some, which is why we tried to make the blow as soft as possible while still doing something.

  4. As you are all aware, @ajwllmsn was caught updating for other members, and for the league side of things, he has received his punishment already. What remained to be seen was how this would be handled from the perspective of the VHLM, as he was the GM of the Las Vegas Aces. He had been suspended from the role until the final ruling was in place. @McWolf  and I were largely torn on this - on one hand, this was absolutely a large enough infraction to be considered fire worthy, but outside of this particular incident, AJ was a bright spot among the new members of the league. Basically he did many things right, but one thing very wrong, and so it fell to us to implement a punishment befitting the crime.

After talking with all the directly affected parties per our final decision: AJ is fired from the role of GM of Vegas. However, he is certainly among the pool of applicants for future openings, and should he learn from this, it'll likely just be a bump in the road for him in the long term. We've seen firsthand how little a punishment can affect a good member in the long run *cough @Beketov cough* and so we suspect this will not hinder him going forward. In fact, he's landed somewhat on his feet already...

As it's close to playoffs, which is always an awkward time for a new GM to start in a role, and the current AGM of Vegas is a veteran member who is familiar with Vegas' setup at the moment and the inner workings of the VHLM: @MubbleFubbles will be taking over the role. (Don't worry those of you who might be looking for a job with apps, there will be one coming up soon, unrelated to this post). This leaves the AGM position open, which will go to AJ. Reminder that AGM is not a job, does not inherently come with job pay, and is in no way a guarantee to future promotions or the like, but this does put AJ among promising candidates heading forward. Obviously when a whole body of work is taken into account for future hires, this incident will be a negative for him and he's not likely to be the absolute first candidate on the page for the immediate next job, but he is definitely still on the list. Who knows, it may even be a future iteration of Vegas in particular, given the M's historical turnover rate.

*No, we do not expect everyone will be pleased with this ruling, but there was a wide range of opinions and that would be impossible. Instead we focused primarily on what McWolf and I in particular thought, obviously with some input from blues/mods/etc as pertained to the larger league ruling, and we were both somewhat in the middle. This seemed fair - he loses the job, a player of his earn rate loses the immediate job TPE going forward and will have to do a little more each week until earning his way back into a spot, but he's not blackballed or anything of that nature. If he's learned, it's ultimately not much in the long run, but it's hefty enough in the short run.

  5. Letang, Camus, Cowboy for me.

In the long run I agree with Dil that Josh will be a HOF builder (and if he is the one on the final ballot I'm a yes to that) but I know we typically don't do builders that are still in more of their peak. Cowboy on the other hand is semi-declined in comparison to earlier days.

  6. It's not for everyone, but incredibly popular in my family (I'm the one that makes it, learned it from my grandfather): a blue cheese dip for pretzels/chips. It works especially well with those "buffalo wing" flavored pretzel pieces.

    - 2 of those rectangular packs of cream cheese (Neufchatel is fine if you're going for the less fat option - I usually use Neufchatel and haven't noticed a difference in either consistency or taste)

    - 1 chunk of Danish blue is ideal (about 1/3 lb) as Danish blue is the best tasting option - if you don't have a place that sells this (in cities, it will likely be in the cheese dept of your major grocery stores, but if you're more rural you might be in a food desert of sorts and not have this available) then domestic is fine (usually a Wisconsin cheese if in USA) or even the crumbles. 2 packs of crumbles if you go that route as the crumbles tend to take from the less flavor parts of the cheese. Please for your own sake do not use Amish blue, it's disgusting. Variants of similar cheeses (roquefort, stilton, gorgonzola) have their purposes but aren't really for this.

    - Milk as needed for consistency

Cut the cream cheese into chunks (8 to 12 per pack) and throw them in the blender. Add just enough milk to get to about the blades of the blender, and blend this down. Gradually add the blue (if you've bought a chunk, you'll need to break it up by hand). If at any point it's too thick and isn't blending properly, add more milk. If it's too thin, unfortunately you can't remove milk, but you can generally let it sit overnight in the fridge and it will solidify enough. Once it's all blended (no chunks, all smooth, but the end result should be pretty thick) it's done.

$20 for the Dom tournament thing

$48 for my cooking stream (was 58, but Jardy put in for 10 later than that - Josh if you have anything else you want that 50 to count for, go ahead, especially if one of the other cumulatives came within 50 of meeting. I'm never just stopping at $20 on a charity donation thing. If not, we'll just say we finished well past it.)

@diamond_ace  I'll put in $50 of my donation towards this, don't worry.

I wasn't so much worried about the quantity of money (I'm fortunately in a position where this is a fairly negligible amount) I was just hoping to push it to next check, because I assumed a lot of people would be slower than they have been and it wouldn't really go amiss. As this has clearly not been the case, I'll go ahead and knock this and the Dom tournament thing out tonight
