As many of you may know, the Board of Governors has undergone a re-structuring. With the exponential growth the league is seeing, we felt it important to add some new voices into the mix as we continue to strive to grow with our member base.
 
Before announcing the new additions, we would like to thank @Bushito, @Tagger, and @TheLastOlympian07 for their contributions, as they will no longer be part of the BOG. In their place, @Advantage, @Josh, @Matt_O, @Renomitsu, and @Sonnet will now be joining the BOG.
 
In addition to the changes of seated members, @tfong will be joining as the League's @Public Liaison. His primary role will be as a secondary point of contact for all matters directed to the @Commissioner . As always, we encourage members to use the Suggestion and Complaint section for any ideas pertaining to the league. When posting anything that you feel requires the commissioners' attention, we ask that you also tag the Public Liaison, to prevent any issues from going unseen. He will also be tasked with updating the community on Current BOG Discussions, as a way of maintaining transparency into the league's operations.
 
For a list of active BOG members, you may refer to this page, as it is updated with any, and all, BOG changes.

Halifax GM Job
 
Hello everyone! After a good conversation with @Thranduil, he has decided to step away from his role as manager. We respect the decision and are appreciative of him being the longest serving Assistant's Assistant, as well as his time with Halifax. During talks, he threw us a name to which myself and Diamond quickly agreed with.

I do want to speak for all people who have common sense - please, be sure to vote "No" for a simple reason, people that remember him and remember dealing will either tell you he was a funny person to have around (Only a few of his friends) or they will tell you that he was a bully and a person you don't want to have around you because of his constant foul language and personal attacks. That Roadkill Steve sig was actually fire tbh. 

Seen as a late round steal after his terrific campaign in Mississauga, expectations were pretty high for Cody Smith. The young left winger, seen as a prolific sniper with a two-way edge, had been key to that teams success, racking up a multitude of goals & points as the Hounds inaugural captain. However, so far in Calgary, things haven't gone swimmingly. In 28 games with the Wranglers, the young rookie has amassed just six points, only one of which has been a goal. For a guy known for his shot, this has been seen as concerning, as well as his habits off the ice. Never known as the fittest player on the planet, Smith has seemingly opted to eat his feelings as of late, using his contract money on fast food quite often. In addition, he's seemed disengaged during practices, almost as if he's depressed or suffering from burn out. Not much is known as to what could jump start this players engines again, but it's definitely worrying. The biggest fear out of this is that Smith could be seen as exposable come the next VHL Expansion Draft, and while that might be the kick in the butt this player needs,  Smith has been very insistent on staying in Calgary if he can, going as far as improving his puck handling and trying to up his defensive positioning so he could play on the blue line in the future if it came to making room for other players. The kid is saying all the right things to the media as well, responding with this after the teams rough overtime loss to the Vancouver Wolves:

"I need to be better. Eat better. Practice more. Commit myself again. I've been lazy way too much this year, and it's not healthy. It's hurting my team, it's hurting my line, and it's hurting my offence. I think I know what I can do to get past this, but I need the backing of my team. I'm not sure if I have that, and that's what scares me more than anything. Having to join what would be my fourth team in four years.... there's been no consistency in my life and I was hoping to have a home here. To find out you could be left exposed and packing your bags once again.... it's just rough. I never expected to be a journeyman so early in my career, if it does come to that. But what I do know is that whatever happens, I'll hopefully be a key component to a team."

As much as it's nice to know Cody can say the right things, actions are always louder than words, and he needs to showcase that's it's not all talk. The main thing for Smith is to get back to practicing more and getting in better shape, which should hopefully up his speed,  which has always been his one glaring weakness. He could also choose to fine tune his shot a bit more to see if making a tweak or two would help him find the net more. But it all comes down to wanting it, and so far Smith's heading in the right direction. Only time will tell.

Dan is a high character player and I think the price we paid was modest. I expect good things from him.

Best advice I've got is not to mind any politics. It's done me good enough so far.
 
I suppose Vancouver, Davos (and Calgary)...? I'm quite uncertain still.
 
My favourite memory is @Esso2264 reading my name in the VHL draft stream. Will live with me through my career!

A season takes roughly 2 months which makes a career a year and a half on average. A big celebration like this 1-2 times per career is acceptable.

The Helsinki Titans are proud to raise their 11th Continental Cup Championship banner to the rafters, most in the VHL. After an incredible S66 season, this banner represents the hard work put in by those who were a part of the amazing run we had last season, as well as a glimpse into what this team is capable of doing, once again, for the new additions joining the team this season. Last season was great...now let's go out and defend our title!
