I don't think there was a strong desire to add TC for M players, just if their amounts needed to be adjusted since M cap dropped from 250->200

Personally, I don't think the M needs TC unless they've been drafted by a VHL Team. The E on the other hand, if they've depreciated under 400 and play in the E without a VHL contract they should still get TC.

A proposal to discuss since discussion seems to have run its course:

    VHLM TC: 5 TPE

    VHLE TC: 10 TPE

    VHL TC: 10 TPE

Also increase VHLE PF to 2 TPE, as we don't want to appear to be weighing people down in.

In my opinion, the welfare+PF folks that used to cause roster spot issues in the VHL will still be cycling in the E for at least 2 seasons even with the PF increase. This would also help get folks who care about "max earning" out of the M with the knowledge they're not losing the PF TPE (Yes, it's a spoiled mentality but it is a valid concern and is a legitimate reason why people stay down).

I'd also be down to reduce VHLE TC to 5 as well if we increase VHLE PF to 2 TPE.

That's fine, i'm less concerned with the TC TPE for the E. Would like to see PF moved up to 2.

  3. I think it’s not a secret that we’re all going to miss @Victor being a VHLE Commissioner. The person who will be taking over his position will have some pretty big shoes to fill. Victor really helped flesh out the E and was a strong force to get it where it is today. I personally can not thank Victor enough for his contributions to the E, the league and just as a person. He listened to me go off on a tangent quite a few times and just let me get it out.

So now that I got all the mushy out, lets get to why I really made this announcement. Knowing that Victor was going to step down this season, we needed to find a replacement. The person that we had in mind to fill the position would have to be a good fit not only to work alongside me, they also would have to be passionate about the league and have experience in many different roles within the league. This person has been a great contributing member of the league for a few years and has worked alongside me since I joined the league. We’ve worked together in many different roles, one of which being co-commissioners together for a few seasons. All of these reasons are how I know that they’ll be able to jump on board and we’ll be able to give the VHLE the best that they have.

So without me rambling any further the new VHLE Commissioner is

    Spoiler

    Congratulations @rjfryman!

With RJ currently being a VHLE GM that means he will have to vacate his position and we will be looking for a new GM for Vasteras.

With that said, this is not the thread to post your interest. There will be another thread for that.

Lets all congratulate said person on their new role!

I'll keep it brief like my VHLE commish stint....

As Acyd may have spilled the beans in the past 24 hours, I am stepping down from the role, having done all the fun stuff in setting up the E from scratch and hopefully on the road for a place as a permanent staple of the VHL experience. In any case, it has been a great journey being part of one of the big innovations in the league in recent times and a very rewarding experience with lots of keen members, GMs, and of course a brilliant partner in crime in Acyd.

Acyd's work especially in the last month or so means the transition will be quite painless - I promise we were a fully functioning duo for about 80% of the way but I certainly haven't pulled my weight the last little while! Ultimately, I was looking for a spark to encourage me to recreate which I didn't have after stepping down as Moscow GM, but the spark was shortlived and now that I enter the last season of Rasputin it seems the right time to take another break. Well, less a break this time, more of a stepping back into the HOF/BOG shadows until the itch of creating a new player inevitably comes back. In any case, that's for the future and the VHLE deserves a more active presence right now.

    That's about it, thanks everyone.

    EEEEEEEEE

Thanks for everything you did to set up the E and be my partner. Learned a few things from ya 😉. Starting the E would have been a very rocky road without you. I appreciate everything you did for the E and myself.  Sorry about the leak, definately lost my mind for a sec. You'll be missed for sure Vic. Hope we still see you in the shadows!

  5. New York knew the risks of drafting DeGroot, they were open about their intentions, stating that they would spend 4 seasons in the VHLE if they were drafted.

Honestly, I want some perspective. We're all in agreement that Rory broke the rules instead of complying with them. If Rory went to LA, the blues could have dealt with it, and it wouldn't have affected another team. Instead, NYA drafted them (which is well within their rights), but if Rory continues to do what they said they would do, why should NYA get compensation? That doesn't seem fair to all the other teams.

BoG access just made it seem that you knew something was going to happen, but drafting DeGroot was less of a risk because from this thread, you expected to get something in return.

I really like the idea of the biography going towards your next player, as it allows you to write about your player's full career, as opposed to cutting it short and rehashing stuff from previous articles.

My only gripe with this is that it rewards recreating which in the grand scheme of things isn't a big deal and we want to happen. Just could see some new first gens get mad about it. With that said, it wouldn't matter since its at the end of a career.

How do I feel about the player overall? He was really good player that was simply over looked and over shadowed by a lot of other players in the league and even on his teams as whole. He was the best player in his final year of the VHLM on his team but this was over-shadow at the time. Was a leader in Prague but was over-shadowed by Laundry II, Dom, Blade and now Asher. It was a good career but nothing anyone will remember.

Bouchard was on the first line 9/10ths of last season =P I split the offense to give the second line a bit more fire power with Asher. I get it though, my first player was a high tpe earner and was set to be a super star. It never panned out. Lets see if we can get him to go off this season!

I really liked the suggestion from Arce to have them write a pre-draft article talking about where they'd like to end up in the VHL as one career task, then return to the old biography for the other one. Time limit on both would just be to complete before their VHL draft.

I agree, I think it makes it more exciting pre-draft and bio. Realistically the TPE you get from Veteran presence (turned into a pre-draft article) would have a bigger impact earlier on. Being a Veteran and getting a small amount of TPE is negligible.

  9. To be fair to spartan, I don't think what Rory is doing is similar to Spartan (granted I wasn't involved from a GM perspective at the time, but after talks with him I get it). Spartan stated he's cup chasing, similar to a lot of others (even some commishes and GMs) in that they say they're chasing cups and are going to leave after their ELC. That is no different than what Spartan did. Moscow was in a position to win when he drafted himself, the window for Moscow is closing so he'll leave in FA. Rory on the other hand is actively tanking it and making it into a spectacle to go to LA. To me these two things are not the same. Spartan is just being honest the same as all others who "chase cups", granted I only know his side of things and not what he specifically told other GMs. Rory is actively defying the rules and making it known throughout the league. This is disrespectful to the league and makes the league look bad in the process. If a GM same as any other player stated "i'm chasing cups", I would be like alright, you're free to do what you want. This is totally different than saying I will retire if someone else drafts me.

Chasing Cups != Retire if you draft me.

It's easy to say there was malicious intent if someone leaves in FA but the reality is that a person can do whatever they want with their player and the fact that they're a GM shouldn't change that. With that said what Rory is doing is not the same, he is actively tanking his stock and making a mockery of the league. For this I believe there should be a punishment.

  10. With @Laine stepping down, we had to a hire new GM to represent Oslo. Before that, I wanted to give thanks to Laine again for bringing the Storm to the E and doing a great job for the inaugural season.

Without further ado, the new VHLE GM is.

Congratulations, we know you're going to do great things!

  11. I'm not quite sure if this has ever been done before, there's always a first though so.

The @VHLE Commissioners wanted to thank @samxfor the work they've put into GMing the Geneva Rush in the E and helping migrate the team to the new league.

I'll speak for the @VHLM Commissioner s and thank @Minionfor all the work they've put in for the Halifax 21st.

We wanted to congratulate @samx for becoming the new(old) GM of the Halifax 21st.

At the same time we would like to congratulate @Minion for becoming the new GM of the Geneva Rush.

Both are great GMs and are valuable assets to the league. I'm glad we're not losing either one. So yes, we're switching GMs around between leagues.

  12. So just like last season, my least favorite post but it's necessary.

As there were a few punishments last season, we only have 1 this season.

Like I said before, we tried something new in the E and made back up games more important. The plan was with more active goalies we wanted them to play more than 8 games and sit the rest on the bench so constituted a 20 game back up rule. This rule has been in the rulebook since it was released. This past season is going to be the last for it as we haven't run into what we suspected was more goalies in the E than actuality. Stay tuned for some rule changes.

Whoever the new Oslo GM (stay tuned) will have to play an additional 12 games.

So Oslo will play 12 back up games on top of their regular back up games.

    @VHLE Commissioner @VHLE GM

  13. @Laine has informed us that he will be stepping down as Oslo GM at the conclusion of the season.  We'd like to thank Laine for his time in bringing the Team from the M to the E as well as all of his work as a GM in the M. Laine will still be around though so don't fear he's not stepping away entirely.

That of course means that a vacancy has opened up. Please post below if you would like to be considered for the position of Oslo GM and we will be in touch with a selection of the candidates. Applications are welcome regardless of if you applied for the VHLE GM in the past or if you are applying for the first time.

Please refrain from any posts which are not indicating your interest in the position.
