Welcome one and all to the VSN hosted VHL Awards! After a long, hard fought season, it is all over. Now that we have hung up our skates for the offseason, and had some time to reflect on how the season unfolded, it is time to recognize the individual and team achievements that helped to make this season so memorable. The Scotty Campbell Trophy is given to the most valuable player from the regular season. It seeks to award the player that has elevated their game and their team’s performance to the next level, showcasing a rare amount of skill that is only found among the upper echelon of VHL players.

This season, the player most deserving of the award was the clear choice, from both their leadership as well as their statistical feats.

Leading the defensive efforts of this team to historically good goals-against average, and securing the top record in the European Conference, this player exemplifies the qualities of a Scotty Campbell Trophy winner.

With a unanimous decision, this year’s Scotty Campbell Trophy winner is the fantastic Kallis Kriketers of the Riga Reign!

Congratulations @hedgehog337!

Next Up -  Playoff MVP Award, the Daisuke Kanou Trophy…

Fmg1eTcCJlfTFu-AWVOtB0tzjuD84rM4Zrb4nEwLnc8Vqs78hHhrZ-X94is98_wo2Xz12aqg0GdHU_6p6zr_mlpb2sLOt9e3ZQ9p2v2R2LByt92Iwrx7DeR_3O7KH7eEd1IPrUNJ

The Daisuke Kanou Trophy is awarded to the most valuable player during the VHL playoffs. Similar to the Scotty Campbell Trophy, the Kanou focuses on those players who have what it takes to perform in the clutch moments of a playoff run, and who are instrumental to their team’s postseason successes

Always a hard decision, it is difficult to pinpoint which player is most deserving over such a small sample. Three different players received votes for their postseason heroics, but one must stand out from the crowd.

As runner up, we have the magnificent Rauno Palo, who led in both points and goals scored during the Reign’s playoff run @jRuutu

Congratulations to the S69 winner of the Daisuke Kanou Trophy, for his second in back-to-back seasons, the goalie who has shown time and time again how to steal a game, Rayz Funk of the Seattle Bears!

Congratulations @Rayzor_7!

The Brett Slobodzian Trophy is awarded to the player deemed most outstanding as voted upon by the league’s players.

This season, we have a clear winner. If you have been paying attention to the earlier awards, I think you may already know who this will be (or if you care to go back to the poll itself).

The runner up, with 23 votes, is Helsinki’s Julian Borwinn, for his offensive prowess shown over the course of the season @Jubo07

With a whopping 71 votes, this season’s Brett Slobodzian Trophy winner is, of course, Kallis Kriketers of the Riga Reign!
Congratulations @hedgehog337!

Awarded to the player deemed to be the top overall defenseman in the VHL, the Sterling Labatte Trophy focuses on both the offensive and defensive properties of our players who call the blue line home.

This season’s winner has proven himself once again one of the top defensemen in the league, due to not only his defensive ability but also his ability to create and put away chances for his team.

Congratulations to our Sterling Labatte Trophy winner for the second year running, I can barely spell his name, Mr. Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen of the Moscow Menace!

Congratulations @flyersfan1453!

Awarded to the player deemed to be the top offensive defenseman in the VHL, this trophy emphasizes those defensemen who can seem to stop scoring.

Whether it be by putting away the chances themselves, or by creating goals for others, Valiq Trophy winners pride themselves on their ability to put points on the board for their team.

This year, our runner up is Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen of the Moscow Menace for his 83 points during the regular season @flyersfan1453

Congratulations to the S69 Alexander Valiq Trophy winner, you love him, going out with a bang after his recent retirement, the wonderful Diljodh Starload of the Vancouver Wolves!

Awarded to the player deemed the VHL’s top defensive defenseman, the Jake Wylde Trophy was created to showcase those defensemen who excel on the grittier side of the game.

Known for his heavy hits, this year’s winner consistently proved his dogged determination to not allow the opponents to score, putting his body on the line for his team.

With another unanimous decision, congratulations once again to Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen, your S69 Jake Wylde Trophy winner!

Awarded to the player deemed to be the top goalie in the VHL, the Aidan Shaw Trophy recognizes our netminders and rewards them for their hard work.

This year, one candidate has stood out, with one of the best goals against averages we have seen for some years at 1.66, and a league leading .931 save percentage.

Once more by unanimous decision, congratulations to S69’s Aidan Shaw Trophy winner, Kallis Kriketers of the Riga Reign!
Congratulations @hedgehog337!

Next up:  The Scott Boulet Trophy for Top Two-Way Forward…

Awarded to the player deemed to be the best two-way forward in the VHL, the Scott Boulet honors those forwards who excel in both the offensive and defensive aspects of the game.

With a combination of physicality and technical ability, Boulet winners epitomize the classical hockey mold, providing entertaining play through heavy hits as well as creating goals.

This season was a close one, as there were two main players who stood out as potential Boulet candidates.

First, our runner up: Hunter Hearst Helmsley, of the Vancouver Wolves, for his fantastic display of two-way ability!  @Beaviss

Without further ado, congratulations to this year’s Scott Boulet Trophy winner: the unpredictable, but always entertaining, Randoms, of the Moscow Menace!
Congratulations @hedgehog337

Awarded to the player deemed to be the top rookie in the VHL, the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy commemorates the crème de la crème of the up and coming VHL stars.

This award is always hard to give out, as it is so difficult for young players to adapt to the fast-paced, challenging nature of the VHL, and there are always so many great options to choose from.

With another close vote, there were two rookies this season who stood out.

Our runner up this season is the fantastic Cinnamon Block, whose defensive efforts for the Prague Phantoms did not go unnoticed. @omgitshim

Congratulations to this year’s Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy winner, your rookie of the year with an impressive 51 point first outing, the wonderful Soren Jensen of the New York Americans!
Congratulations @Velevra!

Awarded to the general manager deemed to be the best in the VHL, the David Knight Trophy is for those general managers whose actions help their team and franchise succeed, leading them to greater things.

The best managers are those who can build a cohesive unit that plays with each other and for each other. It is often difficult to see that direct impact any given manager has, and it is for that reason that this is always such a hard decision.

With so many deserving managers, there will always be some left out from the awards, but we at VSN want to extend a warm thank you to all the executives that work to make this league tick.

The runner up for this season’s David Knight Trophy is the Seattle Bears’ own Blake Campbell, for the fantastic drafting ability that has led them to back-to-back cups @Banackock!

For his man management skills as well as trade acumen, congratulations to this year’s David Knight Trophy winner, for the second time, Victor Alfredsson of the Moscow Menace!
Congratulations @Victor

Awarded to the player deemed to be the most improved in the VHL, the Dustin Funk was created to award those players who always put in the extra time in the practice rink.

So many players in this league work on their game day in and day out, but there is always a select group of players who have elevated their game to the next level.

This year all that separated the top two was a single vote.

Our runner up, a player who has shown significant improvement in their performance, Hunter Hearst Helmsley of the Vancouver Wolves.  @Beaviss
