PenKnight got a reaction from fonziGG in WJC Bronze Medal Winners
    (529 Word Count)

We are back talking about the second year player now, Derek England. It appears that this Russian is on Team Asia and was a part of the World Juniors Tournament just recently. PenKnight just realized it and when he found the World Tournament Page he found out that Derek England ended up winning a Bronze Medal. Hey it isn't Gold or Silver but it sure as hell is a lot better than fourth place! Somehow PenKnight missed his tag for the WJC predictions or he just forgot about it. Egg on his face and he hates missing out on free TPE but lesson learned for next season. England finished the round robin round with 4 goals and 5 assists. He had a total of 9 points but was in the negative at minus 2 with the plus minus rating. 13 shots blocked and just over 28 minutes per game average. Most of his production came by way of the man advantage on the Power Play. It certainly could of been a worse showing for this rookie and his first year in the WJC Tournament.

In the Medal Rounds, Derek England got his chance to play two games. In the game against the United States he and the rest of his team was non existent and got rocked 6 to 1 as the United States went on to play for the Gold Medal. Team Asia did get a consolation via the Bronze Medal Game. They matched up against Team World and after the beat down they got from the UA not many fans or analysts thought they had a chance. After the first period though those ideas were put to rest. Team Asia came out firing on all cylinders and scored the first 3 goals of the game to go up three to nothing. Team World did try to get something going getting the next goal and within two goals down 3 to 1.

In the second period it was more hard fought but the end result was the same as Team World was down 4 to 2 heading into the third period. The third period was much of the same as Team Asia had complete control. They ended up sealing the deal making it 5 to 2 and Derek England was able to finally get on the score sheet with an assist to the assist of the goal. Asia finished with all three stars of the game. They were: Viktor Kozlov, Valeri Morozov and Acyd Burn. Team Asia outshot Team World 45 to 32 but the second and third period is where they really turned up the shot total. They outshot Team World 36 to 13 in those two periods and played most of the game in the zone of Team World. Kozlov and Morozov had the two big games both scoring a goal and making two assists. They were able to erase the memory of the loss to the Red, White and Blue and just play this game fresh. When Team Asia were presented their medals someone played the Russian National Anthem by mistake. You could see Derek England and other fellow Russians grinning from ear to ear.

I could live with you being an Oilers Fan but now that you admitted you are a Sharks Fan I will have a hard time dealing with this fact. However, hate the individual teams and not the fans but the Shark Tank is not one of the friendliest places for opposing teams fans. That being said I enjoyed your Biography. It appears you had a hard long road to the VHLM/VHL and are destined for greatness. I suggest that your player gets pumped up in the Gym to not be outweighed so much and that your agent does the heavy lifting with point task like writing and such. Try to get every TPE available if you can and you will skyrocket in TPE in just a few short seasons! Hope to see you on the ice very soon and sorry if I run you into the boards... it's what I do!

PenKnight got a reaction from Jayrad28 in Helsinki Titans Draft Derek England
It appears that Derek England will not be headed to Seattle which is the home of the Bears. In an interesting turn of events the Helsinki Titans traded up to steal Derek England away from Esso and the NY Americans! We can not confirm all these reports but in our analysis we believe that the Seattle Bears were going to draft England at 17 but it appears that the NY Americans were actually going to pick him up at 16. For whatever reason, Esso, could not pass up the Titans offer and this is why England landed in Helsinki to get his VHL career going after only one year in the Minor League as a Mexican King. Reports have also showed that England was disgruntled with the Kings after a slip up in line changes and Mexi-G was put in place of their star goaltender. We overheard that England was happy to get out of Mexico and he caught the first plane out to Finland right after hearing his name called for the Titans. We have heard that Esso has an ungodly amount of draft picks in the upcoming seasons and England wishes them well. He did make a comment that he hopes the Bears end up in last place once again and stay there for eternity. It appears that England is looking forward to making all the other teams in the VHL pay for not drafting him higher or even considering him as a draftee.

The one thing that we have learned about this new player, Derek England, is that he is a madman in the way of TPE earning and Media. He seems to relish in it and only looks forward to every chance he can get to earn more of these coveted points. He did point out that he had to give up a few TPE as he didn't want to get into International GM'ing this early in his career. He felt that he should leave that to the glory hounds and big boys. On another interesting note, it appears that England is back to the donation tactics that he implemented last season. Although last season he was a few weeks late to the party... this season he has had a jump or head start on the situation and will be gaining two doubles weeks, a week of 5 extra uncapped TPE and also an extra cool million dollars for the Player Store. Hopefully all transactions went through smoothly and in about 3 weeks he will have all claims updated!

England has also confirmed that he is going to worry about getting his Defense up to 99 before anything else. It appears that he will be able to move up quickly in TPE at an alarming rate and we wouldn't doubt that he should be in the 400 to 500 range by next offseason. The math could be wrong on that estimate but the point is we believe he will be on cruise control for the rest of his career making teams pay as he passes the puck through the needle letting his big guns score for his team! Eventually he will have to get more physical and increase checking but for now he has said he is more worried about moving up to at least 90 in way of Defense! We wish England well and hope that he has a long and lustrous career in Finland as England is a team first kind of player and wants to be one of the core guys never to be traded away.

The Mexico City Kings were riding high at the end of their inaugural season. All prepped up for a showdown with the Saskatoon Wild. Somehow or someway the General Manager for the Kings fumbles the ball and doesn't get the lines into the simmers in time. So what do the simmers do? They just run it. Maybe they didn't look but it is hard to believe that they didn't know that the Mexico City Kings were running odd lines and to make it worse they took out their Star Goaltender for Mexi-G?? F'ing Mexi-G and the simmers just laugh at the screw up instead of trying to protect their league in a way that is beneficial for the minor league players and organization. I know if I was a simmer and seen some mistake like that I would have to hold up the process and notify GMs or HO in some way or another. No way in the world am I going to sim a game with the Computer Goalie for any team no matter what the rules state. One would think that the league would want to protect this sort of blunder.

Of course some would think or say that a team could come back from down 0-2 but we all know that after being down 0-2 it is virtually over. I certainly understand win at all costs but do you really want to win a game or series like that!? It turns out that Fate or SimonT got revenge for the Kings as the Wild met their demise against the Philadelphia Reapers. The Grim Reaper certainly showed up on their doorstep and took his pound of flesh for such an erroneous action.

Now the Kings look toward the draft as they are about to be dismantled from the upcoming VHL Draft. Many players seem to want to stay go to Esso's team the New York Americans. Didn't Esso set up the Ottawa Lynx? Anyways, the point is it appears that many players want to go to rebuild the Americans with Esso leading the way! Derek England could care less who he plays for in retrospect. He certainly is pissed off about the fumble in the first round of the playoffs by the Kings but nothing can be done at this time. Of course he is a professional and will play for the Kings if need be. If he has to go right to the VHL and play in his second season he would do that as well. A mention of him going to Moscow peeked his interest as that would bring him back to his homeland, Mother Russia. However it does appear that the team is in a rebuild state as well. Either way, England stays low key and tries to earn as much as TPE as possible as he moves on in his young career. It appears that the offseason is a gold mine to earn extra TPE. England will be gaining 17 TPE from that one opportunity. The max was 20 so only missing 3 isn't too bad. Hopefully he can earn some extra cash and TPE along the way before the next season starts.

    Philadelphia Reapers versus Minnesota Storm

With a late season surge the Philadelphia Reapers were able to claim the top of the league, with 6 wins in their last 6 games they were able to finish above Halifax and Ottawa with an decent margin. Minnesota on the other hand did not have to fight hard for that last playoff spot as they finished 26 points above the 9th placed Yukon Rush. In the regular season series the teams played each other seven times and the Reapers have won them all. I do not expect an upset here and the Minnesota Storm will calm down and become a breeze as they go into the offseason.

Halifax 21st versus San Diego Marlins

Not only the Reapers surpassed Ottawa, but they also lost a spot to the 21st as Ottawa lost their last two games of the season. With just 1 point between them Halifax claimed the second seed in a direct duel. Just like the Storm the Marlins also didn’t have much competition for this spot. They got close to the Hounds, but the Storm finished 20 points below them. During their regular season encounters the Marlins managed to win twice against the 21st, but with their recent winning ways, it will also be unlikely that they are going to be knocked out in the first round. No surprise here either as the 21st advances to the second round.

Ottawa Lynx versus the Mississauga Hounds

For the Ottawa Lynx the regular season could not end soon enough, but it didn’t. While being in  the lead for a large margin of the time, they dropped to the 3rd seed in the final stretch of the season. The 2 loss streak at the end of the season sealed the deal for them. This last part is also what happened to the Hounds, as due to their last two losses the Mexico City Kings had enough from their own wins to surpass the hounds and dropping them to the 6th seed. The season series between these two teams are already a lot closer than the standings would suggest, despite the 20 point difference between them, the Hounds were able to win thrice against the Lynx, with Ottawa taking four games theirselves. This shows that Ottawa can’t cruise into this series thinking they got it sorted. This is the first of the games that I believe could go either way, the Hounds might be able to fully knock out Ottawa and sent them on holiday.

Saskatoon Wild versus the Mexico City Kings

The last two teams also had quite a margin between them. 16 points in total separates the fourth and fifth seed from eachother. With Saskatoon ending on a 2 game win streak they came close to the 2nd and 3rd overall spot, but nearly missed out. Mexico City in this case is definitely the best of the rest. With two points above Mississauga they ended a great end of season streak with an 8-2-0 record, only the 21st and Reapers (with both a 9-1-0 streak) did better.  Saskatoon on the other hand, only went 5-3-2 in their last games, which is still better as Ottawa, but not as convincing as the other games. The Kings only beat the Wild once this year, but two of the six wins for the Wild came from shootouts. With their end of season form, the Kings might have what it takes to knock out the higher seeded Saskatoon players.

While the first round likely won’t have much surprises, the last two games definitely have an upset potential, stay tuned and watch the VHLM playoffs to find out what happens.
