Would have been nice to get the Slobo but losing by 4 votes to @OrbitingDeath  is pretty darn close so nothing I can rally complain about. Didn’t figure I would even be up for the Campbell or Funk going into the voting so 0 votes in those doesn’t really sting much.

Clegane, Shaw, and first team, not a bad night really.

The award everyone has been waiting for, The Scotty Campbell Trophy, is awarded to the VHL’s most valuable player each season. This past season 6 players stood ahead of everyone else and were some of the main reasons for their team’s success, they were; Duncan Idaho @OrbitingDeath , this past season Idaho lead the league in points with 122, and was near the top of the league in goals with 52, additionally Idaho had 368 hits. Nico Pearce @Spartan was the driving force behind Helsinki last season which saw them finish 2nd in the points race with 120 and pick up 32 more points than their next closest teammate. Baby Bob @Baby Boomer who was a breakout candidate for Chicago and recorded their first 100 point season. Tui Sova @v.2 was a defensive and passing machine for DC and recorded 77 assists (106 points) and was a+40. Hard Markinson @STZ continued to be one of the leagues top defensemen and led defensemen in goal scoring (33) and was tied for the lead in defensemen points (106) with Sova. Lastly, Papa Emeritus @Beketov finished the season leading goaltenders in almost every statistical category including, wins, SV%, GAA, and assists. The wait is over, time to name the season 84 VHL MVP, the winner of the Scotty Campbell Trophy is…

The Dustin Funk is awarded to that season's most improved player, this season we had a lot of players take a huge step forward. For this award each VHL GM can nominate 1 player from their own team, this ensures that no player is overlooked in any way. This can lead to a crowded field and with that it was narrowed down to four finalists, who stood out above the rest. These were:

S83: Papa Emeritus @Beketov (MOS) - 64GP, 47-14-3, 0.926SV%, 2.21GAA, 4SO, 1881SA

S84: Papa Emeritus (MOS) - 65GP, 48-11-5, 0.939SV%, 1.97GAA, 6SO, 2106SA

S83: Perry Laperriere @KaleebtheMighty (PRG) - 16G, 21A, 37P, 30, 65PIM, 169HIT, 14SB

S84: Perry Laperriere (PRG) - 34G, 49A, 83P, -26, 82PIM, 179HIT, 49SB

S83: Ronan Lavelle @Arce (DCD) - 13G, 27A, 40P, 6, 15PIM, 46HIT, 13SB

S84: Ronan Lavelle (DCD) - 38G, 60A, 98P, 41, 19PIM, 40HIT, 20SB

S83: Nico Pearce @Spartan (HSK) - 32G, 36A, 68P, 23, 84PIM, 265HIT, 29SB

S84: Nico Pearce (HSK) - 59G, 61A, 120P, 46, 101PIM, 284HIT, 32SB

And the winner is…

Now that we have most of the player awards done it is time to honour the people who make it all happen with the David Knight Trophy which will be awarded to the leagues top general manager. Let’s meet the finalists:

Blake Campbell @Banackock - Made the necessary trades to keep Seattle a cup favourite.

Eno Rama @Enorama - Over time created a contender in DC that the rest of the league dreaded playing against.

Alex Johnston @Alex - Took a reformed Davos team to their first playoff series win in some time and made way too many trades along the way.

Jeff Downey @JeffD - Built a contender in Chicago and fostered an engaging environment around the team.

Kris Rice @Ricer13 - Turned Calgary into a contender after what could be the shortest rebuild ever.

Euron Leonidas @Spartan - Has made Moscow possibly one of the greatest teams of all time over the course of the past few seasons!

The bragging rights and the David Knight Trophy goes to…

Wish we were tied so we could have shared. You also deserved it with your insane season.

Possibly the most important award we will discuss this evening, the Fredrik Elmebeck Memorial Trophy is sometimes referred to as the ‘top member award’ as it is awarded to the member that goes above and beyond each season to make the league a better place for everyone involved. This season we had 4 nominees;

@Arce- Positive Presence in multiple communities + VHLM GM

@jacobcarson877 - VHLM GM, Junior Showcase Tournament, great focus on retention, and helping new members (on his team and otherwise)

@Ptyrell- Town of Pallet

@Shindigs - helpful to new members and passionate about the league

First off I would just like to thank all the nominees for all the work they put in this season and making the league a better place each and every day. Without further ado, the winner is…
