Looks like we have a few questions here; I'll do my best...

Your player's attributes will decrease at the start of your 6th, 7th, and 8th seasons in the VHL (your first season in the VHLM doesn't count as one--if your player is a S67, then S67 will be the first of these seasons, whether you're going up or staying down). At the start of the 6th season, they'll decrease by 3%, at the start of the 7th season by 5%, and at the start of the 8th season by 7%. To help fight against this, you can make some (rather expensive, but certainly very helpful) player store purchases prior to the start of these seasons, so it's best to save your money!

You can earn up to 12 capped TPE per week. If you'd like to max out, here's what to do:
-Pick a 6-point task, whether a media spot, graphic, or podcast, whichever one you're best at. Do it.
-Also, do a VHL.com submission. These are just like 6-point tasks, but on a smaller scale and worth 2 points. You have the same choice as the 6-point tasks: articles, graphics, and podcasts, and can pick any two of these.
Other tasks that you can do for 2 capped TPE are listed below:
-Press conferences (either asking 10 questions or answering 6)
-Reviewing (review eight 6-point tasks for 2 TPE, giving constructive feedback)
-Trivia (on weeks when there is trivia, there won't be for a while)
Practice facility is uncapped; keep that in mind.

My earning routine, before I started picking up 2 capped per week as a GM, was this:
    -Media spot
-VHL.com article (I'm best at writing)
    -Press conference
-Trivia on weeks we had it
-A 2-point graphic on weeks we didn't (a second VHL.com submission). Some people prefer reviewing for those last couple points. It's all up to you.

I'm not sure, as I don't make these decisions. I don't see other tasks coming up in the near future, though--I'd say we have a good system that works, and as far as I know those in charge like it just fine as is.

Frost, like me, is actually a S66 player, meaning he created not this past season but the one before it. He created after the VHLM draft, though, making him a free agent. When his one-season contract (free agents can only be signed for one season) expired, he became eligible for the VHLM draft again, and was drafted this past season by both Philly (VHLM) and Calgary (VHL).
Our TPE cutoff is 200--above 200 TPE after your first full season, and you go up to the VHL. Below that, you stay down in the minors. Frost was able to stay down, as he kept his player below 200 TPE.

I hope this explains things to all who asked questions--feel free to ask anything, anytime.

    Hello Draftees,

As part of SSN FUTURES coverage of your S67 VHL Draft, I'd like highlight all of you and get some general information about your VHLM season, your excitement heading into the draft and your thoughts on becoming a professional. This is completely voluntary, just a way to give you guys some much-deserved attention to kick off the off-season. With no further ado, here are my questions.

How would you describe your VHLM experience? How would you describe your play this season? How would you describe your excitement leading up to the VHL Draft? Around what pick range do you expect to go and why? If you wanted General Managers to know one thing about you, what would it be?
I appreciate the time and effort anyone puts into answering these pressers. Thank you in advance and good luck to all of our draftees!

    Thank you,
    Shaka

My experience was great, I was fortunate enough to play on a great team with a lot of great players. We were always helping each other out and I hope to find that when I transition to the VHL.

    2)
I think as a rookie I played very well. I finished 5th in save % and 5th in GAA which is good. I look forward to getting better and helping out whatever team picks me in the upcoming draft.

    3)
One of the most exciting days for a hockey player, I look forward to taking part in all the draft festivities and looking forward to finding out where I will start and maybe even perhaps finish my career.

    4)
From everything I have seen and heard I will probably be going at some point in the second round. I think I will be second round as goalies are unfortunately not a big need this season, so I can see a few goalies dropping into the 2nd / 3rd round.

    5)
I would want them to know that I am always at the rink, always practicing and getting better. My goal is to be one of the top goalies in this league.

Shaka reacted to Beaviss in Offer Sheets
    Hello everyone,

All this talk in the NHL about offer sheets has gotten me thinking about why we don't have them here. Since careers are only 8 seasons long and 3 of them are spent as RFA's it makes sense. What happens if you get drafted by a team you don't like? or get drafted by a GM that wants to bench you for cap reasons? Adding Offer sheets would add some additional protection to the players and not harm the General Manager.

This was the scale I was thinking of.

    200+ TPE -  2nd round pick
    300+ TPE - 1st round pick
    400+ TPE - 1st round pick + 2nd round
    500+ TPE - 1st round pick + 1st round pick
    700+ TPE 1st round pick + 1st round Pick + 2nd round pick + 2nd round pick

Example: Hunter Hearst Helmsley TPE: 589 gets an offer sheet from Vancouver Wolves (not possible since I cannot sign myself)

    I accept my offer sheet
Riga would then get Three days to accept the contract or they get compensation.
    Riga takes the compensation
Vancouver Wolves would then forfeit to the Riga Reign their next 2 first round picks (ONLY if they have there first rounds)

    RULES:
Teams cannot go over their cap if a contract is signed. The next soonest picks that match the compensation would be given. If the three days pass without an answer from the opposing General Manager the compensation is given. If the offering team does not have any of the picks required the offer is void.

What are your thoughts? Is this a cool idea? What do you dislike about it? If this idea is accepted then we would have the change the auto 3 season ELC in the portal (in the rules you can sign for less than 3 seasons)

Things weren't always like this. The drafts weren't always this deep or rewarding. They didn't go anywhere near this many rounds (and surely not as many "active" rounds) and they didn't have quite the lists of talent that they do today. I mean, maybe once upon a time, but all I know is that it's been a very long time. I don't think, during my 18 seasons straight of being the Seattle Bears GM, that drafts have ever been this good. It's an exciting time to be a player, a manager or a member of this league. It's very exciting when you're a manager though. So much talent, so many possibilities and a lot of options that you're able to go. This draft people were dubbing as not as deep but if you take a look at the draft list and see what's going on, you'd realize that saying that isn't the best or right answer. The draft is actually pretty solid, with a lot of players making up the first round and numerous 2nd and even 3rd round projected players that could have healthy careers in the Victory Hockey League if they really, really wanted it. It takes effort, it takes skill and yes, it does take time. It is rewarding if you manage to find the time and grow as a player though. So, let's take a look at some of these players and see what they're really all about.

    (S67) Bjorn Scorinxgsonn @11 Eleven

    Position: RW
    Height: 6'1"
    Weight: 190
    Player Rating: 9.0C
    NHL Comparison: William Karlsson
    TPE: 279

While it's isn't completely unheard of in the Victory Hockey League, but Icelandic players can be hard to come by and even if we do happen to get some of these guys into the league, it's even harder to keep them. The name literally has "Ice" in it - so you'd expect them to be amazing at hockey but most aren't. I feel as though that's completely false when we take a first look at Bjorn Scorinsonn. He's currently rolling along the season with some solid updating/training, some nice consistency in his player build and updates and is making large waves this season with Philadelphia. Listen to this, mates. He had 66 points in 72 games this regular season and already has 8 in 6 games these VHLM playoffs. He's continuously getting better in all areas of the game - production and skill levels, and is making quite a name for himself. As we mentioned, he's newer to the league and Icelandic players are prone to bouncing and busting and never becoming much of something. Bjorn is an interesting pick and we feel as though the gamble would 100% be worth the risk. We like him a lot as a pick and wouldn't be surprised when we hear his name called within the Top 3 picks, maybe even first overall.

    (S67) Phil Marleau @Phil

    Position: C
    Height: 6'5"
    Weight: 240
    Player Rating: 9.0B
    NHL Comparison: Ryan Getzlaf
    TPE: 248

Alright, let's get the elephant out of the room and by elephant we mean Marleau because damn he's a big boy. He comes in standing 6'5" and weighing 240 pounds. He's literally skating around out there as a tank on skates and is looking for any reason to punish the opposition. The great thing about it? He's one of the top guys for hitting season after season and just finished his VHLM campaign with 304 hits in 72 games. What makes the cake a whole lot better is that he can put up points, score goals and do just about anything that you'd ask for in a player. With his frame, fuck, even ask if the guy will play net if your two main goalies need a break. I'm sure with how he stretches out, he'd be stopping a good chunk of the rubber coming his way. The minor concern would not be that he's an extremely liked, well respected member - oh, no... but could be the fact that the last time he had an amazing player which was very similar in skill level so quickly, he went missing and was never really found again. Rumour has it, he left to some far away island to live out his days with Elvis and Tupac. HOWEVER, we would say it's worth the risk. Phil is great anywhere he goes and makes huge impacts in the LR, around the league and on the stats sheet for you and your team.

    (S67) Hugh Chan @HughJas_

    Position: D
    Height: 6'1"
    Weight: 190
    Player Rating: 8.0C
    NHL Comparison: Mattias Ekholm
    TPE: 156

Here we find a player who has the potential to be a strong player every single season and really make a good impact for whatever team he plays for. He may not jump off the page at you like some of the other prospects higher than him would, but he isn't a bad pick to make and teams should seriously be looking at this guy. Also, his username is pretty solid - so maybe Nyko will give him some claps or something. For Hugh Chan, what people are going to be watching for is the consistency in training and making himself a better player. From now until the draft, lots of GM's are going to head on overt and talk to him and all eyes are going to be on him to see if he can keep it up. He managed to get 40 points through the 72 this season and had 8 assists through 6 playoffs games. Predicting the future, I expect him to be anywhere from a 55-80 points defender in the Victory Hockey League and a really good pick if things go the teams and players way. Of course, there's always the gamble and gambling you would be - but how much? The boom and bust is good with this one but likely a solid pick. Good luck!

    (S67) Michael Johnson @fonziGG

    Position: G
    Height: 6'3"
    Weight: 210
    Player Rating: 8.0B
    NHL Comparison: Robin Lehner
    TPE: 218

Michael Johnson was pretty fortunate to be on a fairly strong Halifax 21st team this year, though, it could be said that he was a big portion of the reasons why the team did so well. His record was 25-9-1, his save percentage coming in at .874 and his GAA of 3.02. So okay, it wasn't anything super special or amazing but something we see here is potential and room to grow - and there may be a lot more room than some people realize. After a few interactions with the prospect and watching him in game, you come to learn that it's a diamond in the rough. It's a weak ceiling to in most scouting reports and what that means is that scouts things he may end up somewhere around X, but very well could push through that ceiling, create  a new one and be Y. It's going to be really exciting to see where he lands, which organization doesn't to pick him and what he turns into over the course of his career. I wouldn't expect a bunch of greatness right away - I think this pick may be a little bit more of a late bloomer who has great success throughout his career, but it may take some time and proper training in order to achieve this. Either way, excited to see what happens! Good luck!

    (S67) Doug Forsyth @DougF

    Position: RW
    Height: 5'7"
    Weight: 200
    Player Rating: 1.0F
    NHL Comparison: Andre Deveaux
TPE: Banned for preying on youth

When you see the name Doug, what do you think of? Do you think of a youthful player who had promise only to throw it away for dick pics? Do you think of one of the lowest scoring players to ever be scouted by me? Do you think of the women's football league when you see his height of 5'7" and poundage of 200. He's little and thick, like a tree stump. OR, do you think of checking behind you when walking down a dark alley at night making sure no predator if following you home? All these and more are likely acceptable to think. I don't even know if he was super promising or seemed good or anything. REALLY, the first time I heard about him was when he was begging for penis pictures. I mean, do what you want and I won't be judge, but what the fuck and yuck. I've never encountered that shit in all my VHL or SHL days and am surely going to be walking down these alleys with my iPhone flashlight on from now on... think about it... Your name is @Beaviss and you just finished a rowdy fucking bender involved with sloots, blow and booze. You're walking down a back alley, trying to light a smoke and in the far distance you hear the howling of a female cat in heat. You quickly up the pace and as you walk by a set of garbage cans you feel something squeeze your left ass cheek.. At this moment, you know you're fucked. It's the return of DOUG.

I don't hate the ending but find some parts kind of dumb like 7 seasons of making Cersei the #1 villain and she dies via building collapse and has next to no dialogue all season. Felt like it was much more Jaime's ending rather than Cersei which doesn't make sense to me.

Also, I get he's the 3 eyed raven and all but it just feels like a stretch that the other 6 kingdoms would accept both an independent north and a northern ruler for themselves.

Hounds Fall Out in Round One of Playoffs
    By Steven Brockman

The Mississauga Hounds have dropped out of the playoff race. Unfortunately they didn't make it past the first round against the Ottawa Lynx.

In the regular season the Ottawa Lynx had a record against the Hounds of 4-3. This close series record in the regular season let many people think it was going to be a very close series maybe even going all 7 games.

Green wrote in a recent article "I believe this could go either way" and the VSN article predicted that Mississauga would win in 7 games.

Most people's prediction of the Hounds doing well was due to their late season surge of victories. Whilst the Lynx had struggled in the last part of the season.

So we know about the preamble to the playoffs but what actually happened? Well the Ottawa Lynx took the first two games at home quite easily. Then both teams took the short trip over to Mississauga. In front of a packed house for the first ever playoff game the Lynx silenced the home crowd. This had the Lynx with a 3-0 series lead heading into the second game at Mississauga. Luckily for the home fans the hounds won their first ever playoff game. The home fans left the stadium singing the Baha men classic "who let the dogs out."

A little bit of controversy happened in Mississauga during game three, where the sound crew at the stadium changed the goal siren to be a dog howl. In an after game survey it was found that 68.8% of fans blamed the first loss at home on the siren change. This caused the sound crew to change it back to the original siren. This change then resulted in the Hounds winning the first playoff game ever.

After the game four win at home the Hounds went out strong in game 5 with star forward Cody Smith scoring a 1st period Hat trick. Unfortunately the hounds let the Lynx catch back up and eventually lost it in overtime.

This brought Mississauga's inaugural season to an early end, when the GM Jerry Garcia was asked about the first season all he had to say was "Dude, like, it's totally cool, man." So it appears that he seems happy with the way the Hounds played so I think that the management staff are happy for their season.

We now sit down with the rookie Berocka Sundqvist the young Australian who made a splash in the VHLM.

SB: Hi Berocka, thank you for sitting down with us. Firstly I would like to ask how do you think your team did this season?

BS: Hi Steven, pleasure to be here like always. I think we did great as a team we were definitely one of the youngest teams in terms of players.

SB: Interesting, now how do you think you performed personally?

BS: I came into this season not sure how it would go my plan was to just play my best on the ice and try and help out the team the best I could. I think I met my expectations and I hope I impressed management.

SB: So you came into this season as a free agent. This means that this could potentially be your final season as a Hound, how does that make you feel?

BS: Yeah it's really unfortunate, I want to give Jerry Garcia a big thank you for giving me the chance to play and I hope that he doesn't regret the decision to sign me.

SB: So this means that you will be in the upcoming VHLM draft, where do you think you will be drafted?

BS: I don't really know where I will be drafted I hope it's in the first round but I don't really have my hopes up. I'm just happy to be out there playing hockey and to make sure that I continue improving so I can continue my career into the VHL.

SB: Well we will keep our eye out in the draft to see where you end up. Best of luck Berocka and thank you for sitting down with me.

    BS: Thank you.

Well that ends the season 66 coverage of the Mississauga Hounds and Berocka Sundqvist. Male sure you come back next season to see what happens with our star Australian.

Shaka reacted to Thranduil in Halifax 21st Press Conference
What would you say makes Halifax stand out in a more and more crowded field of VHLM teams? What philosophy do you believe in as a General Manager of a developmental program? What's your favorite thing about the VHLM, in general? What has been one of your favorite experiences in your time at the VHL, so far? A more pointed question, now. What do you look for in an ideal VHLM Left or Right Wing?(100-200 TPE) What is one thing you would have changed this season?
First of all, thank you sir, I definitely owe a lot to my amazing AGM @Acydburn though as well. He's been awesome.

    1. Well, I'm glad you asked. Definitely the thing that makes us stand out in my mind is how we have managed to stay a contender in the VHLM, every season we've been here, since we joined the league 5 seasons ago. There is definitely a stigma that a team can't really be good in the VHLM for more than 1 or 2 seasons without having to rebuild in between, because of the way the cycle works, with trading picks and losing your best players each year, but I think we've broken that one. Our overall record is 251-85-24, easily the best in the last 5 seasons. So far, we have never finished lower than third in the standings, even though we haven't had a first rounder, since our first season. This comes down to good drafting, excellent player development, and knowing the ins and outs of how the cycle works, but I'd say our winning record is what we pride ourselves in the most, and our ability to win, even when it looks impossible at the start of the season, is what separates us from the pack.

    2. For me it is the belief that player development and winning go hand in hand. If you're willing to put in the effort to get all your players really enthusiastic about the league, you'll usually get results in return. The more bonds you build with your players, and the more time you spend talking to them, the more you get to know them, and the more they get to know you. If you can get them really pumped up about earning TPE, then it creates a culture of players that all want to earn TPE, and naturally with this kind of environment, the wins start to come. A lot of people say the VHLM isn't about winning, it is more about making sure the players have a good time, but what better way to let them have a good time then win the cup? I think the amount a team wins is partly indicative of how much work a team's staff has put in, because often teams start out with tonnes of draft picks, and easily look like the best team, but a few weeks in, and half their players have gone inactive. My philosophy is that if you put in the effort, you can turn any team into a contender.

    3. I think it has to be the social aspect. As a VHLM GM, you spend way more time talking to your players than you would in the VHL. You get to teach them how to be good players, and I find VHLM players are always more enthusiastic to get on a team for the first time. There is a lot more going on, packed into a shorter amount of time, because you only get one season with this group of guys, rather than as many as you need to win, so the atmosphere doesn't get stale, and after two months, you find yourself saying goodbye to all your players, and hello to another group of guys, keeping the environment full of fresh faces. It is this constant enthusiasm, and excitement, that makes me love GMing in the VHLM so much. I'm dedicated to my job, and I I don't ever see myself leaving to become a VHL GM. Personally, I feel I've found my calling. I'd be interested to hear your philosophy as well, as I know you have a lot of managerial experience in sim leagues.

    4. Honestly, if I could give you one, I would, but there have been so many spectacular memories in my time here. Starting off with joining my first ever team, the Halifax 21st, back in S63. I was so excited to be part of something that I could contribute towards. I met Shawn, who GMed me that season, and after being promoted to the VHL at the end of the season, drafted me once again to his team. Joining Halifax gave me this close bond with him, and we're still great friends. My second one would be attaining my first AGM job. I was hired by Trifecta, to help him manage the Oslo Storm (Now Minnesota Storm). I was really excited to get into the GMing business, but looking back, he didn't teach me anything, so I didn't learn much, but at least it got my name in the market. The next would be the playoff opener for Halifax in S63. We were down 7-1 to the Founder's Cup favourites, Saskatoon Wild, but came back to win 8-7 in overtime. Next would be the two season span, between when Shawn left Halifax, leaving McWolf in charge, and the end of last season. McWolf hired me as his AGM, seeing I wasn't getting much training in Oslo, and we had a blast for two seasons. He taught me everything there is to know about GMing, and he was such a chill guy. We had so many good memories together, but unfortunately he had to leave all sim leagues, just before the S65 playoffs, leaving me in charge to GM the team. I was sad to see him go, but happy to finally get my shot. However, possibly the best part of my career has been this season, my first as GM. I have met so many great people, and it is the most enthusiastic team I have ever been apart of. The best part of this season was going all the way from 7th in the league to 2nd over the last 35 games, and surging to the end of the season with a 19-3 record, beating out the Ottawa Lynx by one point in the standings, with a win over them in the final game of the season. That was epic.

    5. For me, I think the most valuable thing at this time is an unselfish player. Someone with defense, even though they play on the wing. Someone who can make plays, not always trying to score goals, someone that always looks for their teammates' success ahead of their own. I think most importantly though, what I look for in a player, no matter what position they play, is that they're willing to be part of a team.

    7. Would have won the cup.

P.S: Sorry for the long answers, I get carried away with stuff haha. Also, I just realized I wrote the equivalent of two media spots here, yet can't write even one when I'm trying to earn TPE.
