The Dustin Funk is awarded to that season's most improved player, this season we had a lot of players take a huge step forward. For this award each VHL GM can nominate 1 player from their own team, this ensures that no player is overlooked in any way. This can lead to a crowded field and with that it was narrowed down to four finalists, who stood out above the rest. These were:

The Scott Boulet Trophy is awarded to the two-way forward in the VHL each season. Of late, Duncan Idaho @OrbitingDeath has won the award 5 consecutive times. For the first time in the last 6 seasons a player not named Duncan Idaho will win the Boulet. The nominees for the S85 Scott Boulet are; Zach Kisslinger II @Kisslinger (104 P, 286 Hits, 48 SB), Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream (97 P, 294 Hits, 33 SB), Nico Pearce @Spartan (99 P, 284 Hits, 34 SB), and Ronan Lavelle @Arce (98 P, 275 Hits, 34 SB). The Alexander Valiq Trophy is awarded to the VHL’s top offensive defenseman, this season we saw a considerable margin develop as Jerome Reinhart @MexicanCow123 opened up a 6 point lead over  Tui Sova @v.2 . This season we have a total of 3 nominees for the Valiq and they are; Jerome Reinhart, who led the VHL in defensemen scoring with 24 goals, and 75 assists for a total of 99 points! Tui Sova, who continued their high scoring ways with a 17 goal, 76 assist season for a total of 93 points! Our final nominee is none other than Jake Thunder @Thunder who posted a 23 goal, 67 assist season for a total of 90 points. The Jake Wylde Trophy, on the other hand, is an award recognizing the best defensive defenseman in the league, a role that is often overlooked and thankless. However we do have 4 finalists, first up we have Mo Probert @Yahtzee who was a +11, had 123 hits, and 172 shots blocked. Hard Markinson @STZ also had a remarkable defensive season as they were a +10, had 246 hits and 155 shots blocked. Additionally, Brian Payne @Scurvy carried the brunt of the defensive load for Warsaw last season and did a great job at that finishing the season with a +44, 241 hits, and 200 shots blocked. Our final nominee is Deron Nesbitt @AW13 who finished last season with a -12, 232 hits, and led the league in shots blocked with 222. Brian Payne @Scurvy!

One of the most prestigious awards in the VHL, the Sterling Labatte Trophy is awarded to each season's top defensemen. It can be very difficult to narrow down the nominees for this award and with that we have 4 nominees, they are; Jerome Reinhart @MexicanCow123 who was a standout defensemen for London this past season and carried them to the playoffs, this past season with 99 points, 122 hits, 160 shots blocked and was a +13. Hard Markinson @STZ who continues to be one of the top defensemen in the league season and won this very award in season 81, 82, and 84 was solid again in this one with 81 points, 246 hits, 155 shots blocked, and was a +10. Brian Payne @Scurvy, helped Warsaw to the top of the league with their stellar play on both sides of the puck and finished the season with 88 points, 241 hits, 200 shots blocked, and was a +44. Lastly, Jake Thunder @Thunder had a breakout season for Davos which saw them put up 90 points, 202 hits, 146 shots blocked, and a solid +20.

The Aiden Shaw Trophy is presented to the VHLs top goaltender each season. This past season goalies continued to stole the show. Among goalies 4 stood out above the rest this past season, they are; Augustus Kennedy @InstantRockstar, who continues to amaze as a young goaltender in the league, finishing the season with a 0.928 SV% and a 2.35 GAA. Xavier Booberry @CowboyinAmerica split the season between Helsinki and Davos and posted a 0.936 SV% and a 2.54 GAA, it is also important to note that after the trade to Davos Booberry had a league best 2.04 GAA! Wumbo @Fire Fletcher was a key part of Warsaw’s success this season with a 0.927 SV% and a 2.59 GAA. Lastly we have Brandt Fuhr @Tate who was integral to Vancouver’s regular season success with a 0.928 SV% and a 2.36 SV%.

Now that we have most of the player awards done it is time to honour the people who make it all happen with the David Knight Trophy which will be awarded to the leagues top general manager. Let’s meet the finalists:

@JeffD - traded aggressively for a franchise goaltender and made a splash in FA

The lone playoff-related playoff award, the Daisuke Kanou Trophy recognises the playoff MVP. This season we saw a forward take the league by storm and guide D.C. to the finals and eventually a Cup! That forward was none other than Ronan Lavelle @Arce, who led the league in playoff goals (12) and points with 26, the other player that made a huge impact on D.C.’s success was none other than Bubbles Utonium @fishy who posted a 0.928 SV% and a 2.67 GAA. It is also important to look at Tui Sova @v.2 who had 18 points for D.C.. For Moscow Papa Emeritus @Beketov made a huge impact for them on a run to the 5th finals appearance in their career with a 0.933 SV% and a 2.48 GAA.
