I don't think it'd matter if we had say 6 goalies in. The issue isn't that your an All Star, it's that with only 4 goalie slots no matter what if GM's opt to select goalies who fall in on the 5th or 6th ranking (which you guys do, Kallis, Pepper Wahl and Rift are the top 4 goalies this season) then no matter what a top net minder gets the snub. I also think it's presumptuous to assume every team will have an ASG worthy player. What if a rebuilding club sucks and their goalie sucks and their top scorer has 50 points? 

 

Again, "generally" that shouldn't be a big deal because it's just one vote. But as we have clearly seen with this format, if enough GM's take up a specific position, the voting is only allowed to grab so many players. So you can easily wind up in a situation where that one off 50 point scorer who you grab for representation winds up in while several players over a point per game aren't because the GM's selected too many forwards and only so many of the forward votes go in. 

 

I totally get the community engagement aspect Beaviss is going for, but there is a reason when the NHL does it's All Star game stuff, even it's community or fan votes, they hard lock position limits and the rest. At the end of the day if we wind up in a system where the "top" player of any field, D goalie or forward, ISN'T in the All Star Game, then something is wrong with the format. There should never be a situation where the top point getter, the top goal scorer, the top d in scoring, and the top goalie stats shouldn't be an All Star. It's not about me being mad for my player, it's about the format lacking the right approach so as to make sure at the very least even the most "obvious" All Stars are in.

 

If there are only 4 goalie slots GM's shouldn't be allowed to nominate a goalie. Knowing all this, if this is the format next season, what's stopping all of us GM's from just making a complete mockery of this and nominating whomever? Hell we could nominate 4 goalies, all of whom are worst than the top one. Nothing is stopping us from doing that.  If the top statistical players in a category can get FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY because of GM nominations, what does it even matter who goes in at that point? It's arbitrary.

Its always been arbitrary it doesn't show up in your awards or anything its for "fun" that's the keyword. Its supposed to engage the community and having a player from each team means more people will care about tuning in and watching and engaging since they have a player to cheer for on their team. Ive missed the ASG by a couple votes but it didn't matter to me since I understand its for fun.

 

If the top player in the league or the best goalie in the league gets FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY that's their GM's fault for not electing them. If a GM chooses to nominate a 2nd tier player instead of the top guy on the team and he misses the game that's between the player and the GM not the structure of the ASG itself.
