11th Annual Unofficial VHL Regular Season Awards – S76

Another exciting regular season has come to a close. That means we can dole out some regular season awards! Welcome everyone to the 11th Annual Unofficial VHL Regular Season Awards honoring the highs and lows of S76! Thank you to everyone that reads this.

These awards have been created by me. There is no voting process and they are not officially recognized by the VHL Board of Governors. I wrote descriptions for most of these award names in the original award post.

I’m reducing the list of the previous winners to the last 5 seasons. If you want to check out the award winners from every season, use this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sAZtX3bxVpPTIsKe1rSRVOenH1-iyWzbQEdR9ZvYOdU/edit?usp=sharing

I also added the “all-time” record for each category. Of course by that I mean all-time for the existence of these awards, not all-time, all-time. Clear? Ok, good. Let’s get things underway!

The Pylon Award (worst +/- rating) – Tyler Walker @Advantage :dav:

This award seems to be getting more competitive every season. This season there were 5 different teams represented in the top 10. Tyler took home the award with a -35, matching the winning total from last season.

They won a strong, but still league low, 43.87% of their faceoffs. That is the highest % to ever win this award, so at least they have that going for them.

The Biggest Backpack Award (player with the largest difference in points from the rest of their team) - Chris Hylands @Hylands :war:

Out of all the awards, this is the most annoying one to figure out. I have to look at every team and keep track of the point difference. When I made it to Malmo, which is only like half way through, I said oh well that’s more than enough difference to win this award. Hylands demolished the previous record by scoring 36 more points than their next closest teammate. Turns out though this race was super close, Thomas Landry II @Doomsday :prg: scored 34 more and Andrew Su @Da_Berr :que: scored 35 more. Definitely a record setting season for this award! Congrats to Hylands for beating those great challengers and setting the all-time mark!
