For the record, I changed my username before tonight's game.

We need an internal spotify player that you can see a playlist of all VHL podcasts!!!

I think for my next player I’m going to finally jump on the “sillier” name train. I’ve done 11 serious names so why not.

Boneless wings are not a thing!
-
I am all for the rebranding and stealing of the wing concept to call weird shaped nuggets boneless wings. Your not wrong with the arguments it's just, wings are messy and suck. You have to fight and work to get any scrap of quality meat no different than a rib. Society is stupid for liking these messy concepts. (And for eating at Carls Jr too, like what a slosh of mess their food looks like.)
Stealing the boneless wing concept opens the door for all us regular folk who enjoy food that goes in our mouth, sauce that goes in our mouths, and meat that isn't half fucking bone grizzle and garbage. We want to enjoy the concept of a wing, without the hassle. A Chicken McNugget isn't the same thing as a boneless wing from a wing place in terms of preparation, taste, and quality of food.
That said; I'll readily admit that I'm one of few who have this stance. People like their messy wings, their bibs to eat meat, their other associated gluttonous nonsense. You do you people, but I'll never stop calling them boneless wings.

Hey you longtime VHL members I got a question. At what point in your tenures did you just forget entirely how fucking long it'd been from a calendar year perspective?
-
No @BOOM that's just literally when we all came over after the site move. For some this is the 4th site but for me it's the third.
I honestly don't recall the day/month but early summer 2011 sounds about S23. I was a S24 draftee, but joined in the middle of S23.

No question... Pineapple belongs on pizza.
-
I feel like that isn't an adequate defense though, without any like...why behind it. Do you dislike any of the ingredients in pizza on their own, maybe one of the base ingredients such as cheese/dough to some such of a degree that pizza just never appealed to you? Or do you like all those things and simply tried pizza for the first time and went "meh not my thing, don't like this combination of ingredients." But like...do you like pasta? Like a spaghetti Bolognese? The combination of ingredients in a lot of pasta and other dishes is quite similar to pizza in some instances, do you enjoy other such foods?

No doubt @Poptart seriously I'm pretty sure the people who simply hate pizza period couldn't even pack a bus.
@IamMOOSE This is one of those super rare times where you are in such a tiny minority that you're simply wrong. People don't just "like" Pizza, it's the most universally liked food in history.
When people plan parties and I've seen this first hand; pizza isn't just a common staple food, when you question using it with the argument that someone might not like eating pizza, you'll be laughed at.
Obviously if you don't like pizza your free not to and that's fine. But your kind of like that rare kind of color blind that sees blue as red. We aren't wrong for saying you simply see it incorrectly.

Virtual school is the worst invention since conjoined toilets.
It takes away the good parts of school and leaves you with learning.
-
Totally disagree. If I had virtual learning I would of never dropped out all those years ago and had to get my high school equivalent later in life. Forcing you to go to a classroom and sit around while someone slowly lectures about a subject that is much easier to self teach yourself with a textbook has always been silly. I get that kids use school as a social outlet, and that part of things is probably frustrating. But when it comes to "methods of learning" the modern education system has many flaws that need to be examined. Part of the issue is a lack of fluidity when it comes to there being multiple ways for differing students to be able to learn most effectively. It's always been a overly simplified one size fits all system and it's a huge part of why kids don't want to "learn" and only want to socialize while at school. Most people forgo learning entirely after a certain grade and literally are just "studying" in order to pass a standardized test. It's information presented without appropriate lesson, leaving many as adults not gaining anything of real value from their time especially in junior high and high school. At least not anything of value from school experience versus lived I should say. Which is always happening, even at school.
Anyways!

@JeffD By my very own logic in this thread, sure. Your technically sandwiching a chicken wing boneless or otherwise with ground bread product and often other types of herbs/spices some of which have been used on classic sandwiches themselves.
Obviously you'd never go in and order a chicken wing sandwich because people would look at you funny, so the argument that Thranduil presents that you'd never order any of these sandwiches under that label which seems foolproof is false. Just as you'd never call the pet shop and say "set me up with a new mammal please" you'd never really order anything by saying "Sandwich please."
By my logic all your really saying is that the preparation method and ingredients for a defined "sandwich" are only determined by the act of using bread product to contain, or wrap another food type. Pizza still counts because the ingredients are being contained on top of the crust. I'd probably draw the line in regards to pasta though; because while it does meet some of the initial qualifications of my definition, the dough itself has to be changed to quite a degree in order for it to become a pasta noodle. Namely dried out to the point that on it's own it couldn't support or contain anything. Even when being served pasta is more loosely served with a mix of the noodles and whatever other food types your dealing with.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandwich
Your page for whatever reasons links to simple.wiki, either way on the the page I just linked is the Wiki for sandwich and read that opening paragraph here;
A sandwich is a food typically consisting of vegetables, sliced cheese or meat, placed on or between slices of bread, or more generally any dish wherein bread serves as a container or wrapper for another food type.
I'm being reductionist by calling Pizza a sandwich by this logic, but under a broad generalized definition all the listed foods do use the concept of a sandwich as a basis for their existence. Using bread products as a container or wrapper for another food type. So yes, by this logic a PIE would in fact be a container for another food type so it could be considered a type of sandwich.

Ya'll are still focused on this two pieces of bread thing. And it specifically having to be the definition of bread as per Americana 1960's bread. Pizza crust is literally just bread dough that is shaped to be a pie crust. A calzone literally by wiki definition; "A calzone is a baked turnover stuffed with pizza ingredients."
One of the main ingredients in a calzone is salted bread dough, which if prepared differently is used in what you call a traditional "sandwich". But even more than that, if you were to look at that definition it specifically states it's a turnover, and when you go to the turnover Wikipedia what is literally the first paragraph?
"A turnover is a type of pastry or bread made by placing a filling on a piece of dough, folding the dough over, sealing, and baking it. Turnovers can be sweet or savory and are often made as a sort of portable meal or dessert, similar to a sandwich."
I rest my case. Sandwich is the mammal, a Calzone, a Pizza, a Sub, a ham and cheese on white, a taco, a pita go down the list. They are all just sub species of the concept of sandwiches to me; meal ingredients in between, on, or inside of bread products or a bread product substitute. It's one concept, morphed into several cultures/cuisines under varying degree's of labels. But it's still all taken from that one same concept.
