Hello, it’s been awhile since I open this. I didn’t read the OP again but as I’m sure I had to of mentioned, I had quit one time prior with a prescription called CHAMPEX. I made it 3 months. When I quit this time cold turkey (no vapes, smokes, gum, nicotine, patches or anything) I honestly probably didn’t think I’d make it because I couldn’t make it with the help of a prescription that allegedly is somewhat successful in assisting with quitting.

I’ve had a stressful last while I guess. Girlfriend had the pains, the tumour, the cancer diagnosis. Covid and lock downs, restrictions and societal divide. Work has been extremely stressful - I work with right wingers, racist albertans who are obviously anti-mask, covid, movements etc that love to spread their extremely far fetched conspiracies that they find in the dark corners of Facebook. Work too has been extremely busy and hectic working my normal 10 day shifts, on call 24 hours a day.. example - 3 shifts ago on the final day I worked  A 20 hour day with a call out… the shift after my final day was 16.5 hours… so 36.5 hours in 2 damn days… today is fortunately my last day of this stretch… We got a new puppy - which he’s adorable but man, he makes me so happy and appreciate of our 3 year old Doberman..

but, there’s good in it all. My girlfriend did her last round of chemotherapy on last Halloween (not this most recent) and in December she received the good news with check ups every few months since… her hairs even comeback very quickly!! Covid is still apart of our days but seems slightly better with hope now! Work is still shit!! Lmao.. and my puppy is our puppy.. but not even 48 hours into bringing him home, I taught him to sit.. flash forward a month later and he has sit, lay and very minor leash training.. and is working some more on lay and now slowly being taught spin..

AND FINALLY.. didn’t think I’d make it and I am about 9 hours early from my last cigarette I ever smoked a year ago.. but today is the day. ONE YEAR! My girlfriend’s mom just messaged me and wished me “Congrats on your 1 yr anniversary of being a non smoker ****..so proud of you and I believe I'm ready!!!   You can be my sponsor  😉 ” as I told her a couple days ago when visiting..  makes me happy and proud and it’s crazy I made it.. $3,700 bucks saved blah blah.. woo hoo!! Still can’t believe I did it!! Fuck yeah!!

The Seattle Bears. If you have been around the VHL for even a little while you immediately associate the name with one thing. Winning. The Bears have proven themselves to be a very successful franchise under general manager Blake Campbell @Banackock. Since his hiring in Season 49, Campbell has dominated the league, winning six Continental Cups, appearing in nine finals, winning five Victory Cups as the top team in the regular season, and earning four David Knight Trophies as the best GM in the VHL. Needless to say, he has developed a winning culture in Seattle.
Campbell’s first season as GM of Seattle was not bad. Although they had a solid winning record of 40-30-2, they missed out on playoffs in a formidable North American Conference. They had some success in the 50’s, notching 119 and 118 points in back-to-back seasons (S52, S53). However, it was during the late 50’s and into the 60’s, that the Bears truly asserted themselves as perennial contenders. In Season 58 they notched 111 points, good for third league-wide. They would go on to lose to the Riga Reign in the final in six games. The next season they would get their revenge. While they only finished with 85 points, they would win the Continental Cup, besting the Helsinki Titans in a wild seven game series. This was Bana’s first championship as GM of the Bears.
Season 60 proved that the Cup season was not a fluke. The Bears finished with 101 points. After a couple rebuilding seasons, Seattle would come back strong, posting three consecutive 100 point seasons (109, 108, 110). The next two seasons would be retooling years, before the team would absolutely tear up the league and make the playoffs twelve straight times. Yes, you read that right. Twelve. It was during this period that the Bears made their mark on the league once and for all.
Catalyzed by the emergence of an elite, future hall of fame goaltender in Rayz Funk @Rayzor_7, as well as a developing core, the Bears would finish first in the North American Conference in Season 68, earning 91 points. That team featured rising stars Joel Ylonen @Esso2264 , John Frostbeard @FrostBeard, Acyd Burn @Acydburn up front and future hall of famers Hulk Hogan @Hogan and Maxim Kovalchuk (Banackock) on the backend, to name a few. Funk would win 38 games, posting a .921 save percentage, second only to Finn Davison @Poptart of the HC Davos Dynamo. This ‘68 team would go on to win the Continental Cup, sweeping both the conference final and Cup final (vs the Calgary Wranglers and Malmo Nighthawks), with Funk winning the Daisuke Kanou Trophy as Playoff MVP.
Determined to repeat, the Bears ran it back with much of the same crew in Season 69. They would go 44-23-5, good for 93 points and second in the conference. Funk again was stellar, winning 39 games for the Bears en route to another Cup win. He would win the Kanou for the second consecutive season, with center Scott Greene @DoktorFunk leading the tournament in assists with fourteen. The Bears avenged their Season 58 loss to the Riga Reign, defeating them in the same number of games ironically (six).
In Season 70 Seattle would finish fourth in their conference, going 37-28-7 for 81 points and a playoff appearance. Fourth-year center Ambrose Stark (Banackock) would lead the team in points (67) and tie with Acyd Burn for the lead in goals with 29, in what was a breakout season for Stark. The Bears would advance to the Conference Final before the Wranglers beat them, four games to two.
Season 71 was an excellent season for the team. They would finish second in the conference only to the Vancouver Wolves. Stark had an even better season this time around, scoring 88 points, tied for the most in the league with Hunter Hearst Helmsley @Beaviss of the Wolves. Greene was right behind Stark with 82 points. Funk would tie Jacques Lafontaine of Calgary for most wins that season with 40. In the postseason, Seattle beat the D.C. Dragons in seven games followed by two five-game wins against the Wolves and Moscow Menace, respectively. Funk would win yet another Kanou, Campbell would earn his third Knight as best GM, Hogan would take home the Alexander Beketov Trophy awarded to the player with the most assists, and Stark would of course share the Mike Szatkowski with Helmsley. Safe to say, it was a terrific season all in all.
In Season 72 the club again made the playoffs, amassing 97 points in the regular season, but this time lost to the New York Americans in Round 1. Defender Berocka Sundqvist won the Beketov that season.
Season 73 was a return to championship form. Winning the Victory Trophy for best record in the regular season, the Bears would go on to win their fourth Cup of Campbell’s tenure. Funk would win his fourth Kanou, and the team looked better than ever. Greene was tied for fourth in the league in points with 105. The Bears were gaining a bit of a new identity in the process, with rookie winger Timothy Brown @a_Ferk and goaltender Jacob Tonn @MexicanCow123 beginning to make their mark on the league. Furthermore, center Ola Vikingstad @Dil had a breakout season, scoring 34 goals and adding 37 assists for 71 points in 72 games. This team would defeat the Helsinki Titans for the Cup for the second, but not final, time with Campbell at the helm, in a six game series.
With Funk signing with the Dynamo for his last season of his career, Seattle turned to Tonn. In his first full season he won 37 games and had five shutouts. They had also added star center Kris Rice @Ricer13 to an already stacked team through a trade with Calgary. Rice tied with right wing Uhtred @leafsman for the team lead in points in Season 74 with 101. The Bears would lose in Round 2 to the Toronto Legion in five.
In Season 75 Brown became a true offensive threat. In 72 games Brown scored 90 points (41 goals, 49 assists), most on the team. There was an important first-year player on this team in center Isabella Campbell (Banackock). Campbell and Brown would develop into a dynamic duo for seasons to come. This season, however, the team was swept in the wild card round by the Chicago Phoenix.
Prior to Season 76, starting goaltender Jacob Tonn was traded to the Moscow Menace for Rara Rasputin @Victor. Kris Rice was dealt to Moscow too, in a separate trade. Even with the obstacles of losing two key players, Seattle persevered and found a way just like they always do. Brown proved to be a reliable scorer, tallying 43 goals and 42 assists for 85 points. Rasputin won 33 games that season with a .917 save percentage. The Bears lost to the Phoenix again in the postseason, this time in the second round, four games to two.
If there was any doubt as to if the dynasty was nearing its end, Season 77 proved all those doubters wrong. Seattle won the Cup for an unprecedented sixth time under Campbell, cementing his legacy for good. They beat the Titans for a third time in the final (four games to one). Jim Bob @jRuutu had 103 points, Brown had 89 and Campbell had 88. Bob led the league in goals with 48. Rasputin won 37 games and saved nearly 92 percent of shots, going on to win the Kanou Trophy in the playoffs.
In Season 78 they lost to the Warsaw Predators in the Cup Final in six games. Campbell had 99 points that season; Brown 87; trade acquisition Venus Thightrap @BladeMaiden had 86; Leo Strauss @gregreg had 85; and defenders James Rose @MattyIce and Kasper Kankkunen @16z had 82 and 80 points, respectively. Rasputin won 40 games that season.
In Season 79 it was the Malmo Nighthawks who ousted them in the championship, four games to two. Valtteri Vaakanainen @Jubo, acquired from Helsinki, led that team with 97 points, followed by Brown with 95, and Campbell with 94. Kankkunen had 89 points on defense. Interestingly enough, all four of them would not be on Seattle’s roster come Season 80. Campbell would earn another Knight Trophy for his work with this team in Season 79.
Season 80 has signaled change in the Bears organization. While Campbell shows no signs of stopping anytime soon, Seattle appears to have finally entered a rebuild. They have several great, young pieces to build around, among them left wing Vinny Detroit @dasboot and defender Erlantz Jokinen (jRuutu), as well as prospects Sven Eightnine @BarzalGoat (D) and Em Em Flex @oilmandan (G).
Campbell’s run has been truly incredible and unlikely to be matched in the near future. The Bears were a contender season after season for a long time. With everything comes change and that is what is happening with Seattle right now. The question is, what will their next Cup team look like?

Literally piss in a can. Strangely popular in the flatlands of Canada and for bush parties but I cannot for any reason understand why this beer is at all popular but it is. Rory is enjoyed by some and disliked by others so here he lands (plus he likes this piss)

Rickards Red is a good beer but its not seen all that often in stores. Everyone knows this beer and has sampled it but its rarely seen and when its on tap you have to give it a try. Just like popular inactive Muff. I wish I could find this beer maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.

    @Beketov
I'm not sure why but this beer perfectly suits Beketov. Its a simple but crisp beer that is enjoyed by most dads around Canada daily. Every time I wanted to drink when I was 14-16 I would just snag a few of these from my dad or my friends dads and they never noticed. Great beer that's been around my whole life I guess that's why it suits Beketov in a VHL sense.

I'm trying to stretch this series as far as possible so I'm going to stop here this week. Have a good week everyone reading this!

It's been awhile since I've done any writing or major tasks and let me tell you, it's been nice. I've been busy with work, we're about to get a new puppy and just enjoying summer before shitty Alberta winter comes! For the VHL, things are drastically different for the Bears. We're not contending for the top of NA anymore (though, would it be hard with how teams are now> Vancouver is capitalizing). We went from 7 finals, 5 cups in 12 seasons to an official rebuild. 9-11-2 is our record right now and overall, it's going a lot better than I/we probably thought it was going to go. A lot of the younger players are having good seasons - players like Stormsson and Viitanen @Kyle & @Xdjk93 are absolutely destroying with 39/38 points in 22 games and Frank Funk Jr @Rayzor_7 also no longer sucks. Our trusty back up @aksuko finally claimed his rightful place as the starting goalie after quite a few seasons as our loyal, consistent back up goalie... playing good all things considered.  @dasboot Vinny Detroit 5th overall for hits as a rookie which is bad ass.  @SlapshotDragon Also having a pretty decent start so far! @Alex Bridges  reminder to do your tasks!!

    That is all.

    Hello,

It's only taken 31 or 32 seasons. It's crazy I can't actually even put a number on it anymore. For however many seasons, I've constantly said NO! THEY'RE DUMB. I still think NO. THEY'RE DUMB (the role ). However, this far into my tenure, I want to keep things fresh while still developing myself as a leader and a GM so that we can continue the many forms of success we are fortunate to experience as the Seattle Bears Family. Similar to the council, which they are part of, it's another mind to bounce ideas off, have discussions with the council and also shoot the shit with in the council. It's a mind that will help me in the right direction, agree/disagree with me and also challenge the path I wish to take and maybe point me to a new one. This member has had success before as a general manager and we do have quite the similarities when it comes to the style we approach in the role. We also have differences which I appreciate (or will learn to) in hopes it can make Seattle and myself more dynamic. We also have similar activity, passion and work ethics for the role (I think our scouting is going to be very intense). It will likely take some minor time to find our footing, but I'm excited for when we learn to run!

    We hired this guy:

    Hello,

It's been a little while since the Seattle Bears have added members to their Hall of Fame/jerseys to the rafters. Firstly, I'd like to tag @Beketov so that he can wake up, see this and his name involved in the title and make him think THOMPSON FINALLY MADE IT! GOTCHA! I'm very excited to be announcing the two players tonight. Both come from different eras of Bears hockey but both played an incredible role in bringing activity, fun and championships to the team (among many, many other things). I won't blab too much here as I'm sure I have some to say about each as they go.. so ..

    (S56) Gabriel McAllister
    Player Page

I remember tanking extremely hard for the privilege to be able to select one of @CowboyinAmerica's players and when we managed to do just that and draft Gabriel McAllister, the feeling that I had as a general manager was absolutely unreal. Anyone who has been lucky enough to have CBIA in their locker room knows how strong of a leader he is, how great of a person he is to all and how legendary almost every single player of his are. He spent his first 5 seasons with the Seattle Bears, hitting a point per game in every season and collecting 241 goals, 248 assists and 489 points in 360 games played. He was an absolute menace on the team. Despite S59 being one of his slower seasons, the love was spread around the team and Gabriel McAllister helped myself hoist my first ever Continental Cup! After the party was done, he was sent in a massive package to Davos where he would play for the next 2 seasons. During his final season, the Seattle Bears managed to bring their star player who pulled the Bears jersey over his head when he was just a young lad. He made it his mission to come into Seattle and leave the city a hero. He did just that. He came in and had his best season of his legendary career with 55 goals and 139 points through the 72 game campaign. While the playoffs didn't go quite as planned, the fans sent him off was a standing ovation.

17 seasons later and once again we in Seattle rise to give a standing ovation to one of the Bears best! Thank you for your time and efforts in Seattle.

    (S72) Timothy Brown
    Player Page

Timothy Brown @a_Ferk wasn't as flashy as Gabriel McAllister, but to me and the Bears, he was just as important. The player and the member played an important role from the very moment they were brought onto the team and this has even extended passed their retirement like a couple others. Timothy Brown spent his entire career on the Seattle Bears and was a consistent top guy on the team. 4 seasons he has above 40 goals, all of 8 he had above 20. He capped his. career off with 247 goals, 308 assists and 555 points in 504 games played with the Bears. Not only is this total impressive on the Bears all-time stats lists, but Timothy Brown is also the owner of the "Most Goals in the Playoffs" in his career with the Seattle Bears - going as far as also holding the most GAME WINNING GOALS for the Bears... #CLUTCHASFERK. As fitting as it was, Brown had his best season in his final season with the Bears - similar to Gabriel McAllister, he was sent off the ice for the final time as a hero. The Bears lost their final game with him during Game 6 of Brown's FOURTH finals with the team (73, 77, 78, 79)... Our clutches player of all time helped us to 2 continental cups... Off the ice, he was just as important. He played a huge role in the locker room + other areas of the league, always being an amazing presence. He's a "secret council" member who has long served his time and is one of my favourite, most trusted people on the VHL. His guidance has been greatly appreciated during his time and we're very fortunate to have had him become part of the Seattle family...

Timothy Brown - FERK - Thank you for all you did and continue to do for the Seattle Bears. Your help has been incredible to my success over the seasons.

It's true, L plays for Toronto. Here's the rulebook:

Sure, London made an offer, but Toronto has the highest priority and therefore they can instantly swipe any IA UFA they want. They 'earned' that right. Yes, this is meant to protect teams with higher priority from losing out on players because of timing, and hasn't ever had to be applied to a player trying to exercise their right to free agency. But, as we can see, L is still inactive:

Screenshot from 4:30pm CEST Sept 19

L is inactive because there hasn't been a TPE Update from 30 days before Free Agency opened. Even if he came back today and pressed the Practice Facility button, he'd still be eligible to be signed as a IA UFA because Free Agency is already opened. We'll change the rulebook to reflect a situation where a player updates after Free Agency opened and provide a 24 hour window for players to 'activate', resulting in getting their actual UFA rights back. But, those aren't the rules this season, and he didn't do a TPE update anyways. We're going to revise them to clarify the change from inactive to active, and include a 24 hour window after the claim is submitted where IA players can activate, but for today them's the rules.

L is now the only best D for the Toronto Legion.

    Howdy!

Just so there are quite a few people in the league that know nothing about me, here we go!

I am a beekeeper, I have been doing this for all my life as my family has been keeping bees and making a lot of interesting items out of their products (For example, bee wax candles). I do this in my free time combined with video games, VHL and music (I do play guitar, bass and a bit of piano).
In my professional life I have been a political advisor, project manager, risk manager but right now, I have devoted myself to political career (for next few months fully) as I have been elected in my local municipality as a council member. In the next few months I am planning to take a job at our local Culture center where I will be working as the director.

Well, that sums it up for me, if anyone is interested in chatting about anything that you might think is in my field of interest, hit me up

Rayzor_7 reacted to Victor in VHLE Logos Announcement. Also 2 teams are different now?? Also Pre-Draft Tournament!
So there have been some developments since we last spoke...

After the GM announcement, we sent the GMs the logos that have been made for the VHLE to finalise those for each respective team. With some this was a straightforward process as the GMs selected pre-existing or slightly updated logos from the original VHL teams. Unfortunately, two VHLE franchises, the Berlin Steel and Paris Revolution, were brand new and not reusing past logos. Although Kaleeb made two fine logos for those, as we dug into the detail during the process, it came to our attention that there were some lookalike logos already existing in the internet. After a thorough review of Kaleeb's process, we have concluded there was no foul play intended, however in the interest of protecting the VHL from any copyright issues, we have decided to scale back the new teams in the VHLE. So Berlin and Paris are no more. Instead, they are being replaced by two other concepts that got significant support - the Rome Gladiators and Istanbul Red Wolves. Both of those are based on old VHLM logos (Minot and Moscow respectively) so after speaking with the affected GMs we decided this was the most effective resolution.

I am pleased to lay out the final logos below and take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to the logo creation process, from the OGs to Z and Kaleeb, and to @Enorama for creating his classic banners to go along with them.

But just before revealing the logos, a further announcement. Now with GMs and logos in place, we can announce that the inaugural, S80 VHLE draft will be a snake draft (i.e. 6th overall then goes again and picks 7th while 1st overall pick 12th, and everything in between). How will we decide the order of the 1st round though? A tournament! Everyone eligible to play in the VHLE right now, being in that sweet spot of 201-400 TPA, will be randomly allocated to one of the 6 VHLE teams, and it will be up to the 6 GMs to guide their teams to 1st place in a mini tournament. The prize for winning? The right to choose which draft position they want, from 1st to 6th. 2nd place gets 2nd choice and so on and so forth.

We will announce rosters for the tournament at a later date - although in the meantime, get ready to get hype if you are on the eligible list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17CQa1SHTvLCvo65-yBhctaL_d8lyYgc3Bcpy3qhbHx4/edit?usp=sharing

Hello and welcome to another deep dive into the VHL's statistical columns. The special team units are the most important players during games and you never know who will get the next advantage for a chance to change the atmosphere in their favor. Today I'm going to take a deeper dive and look at whose been making the biggest impacts on the power play so far, let's get into it!

    _______________________________________________
SHT - Shooting Percentage (goals scored with shots taken)
PPM - Points Per Minute (percentage of points earned per minute)
PPE - Power Play Efficiency (both numbers combined)
*must have at least a minimum of 4 goals scored to be qualified

Taking a look at the goal scorers on the PP it appears a lot of shooters have been taping tight laps around their stick blades and getting all their muscle on every opportunity, starting off at the top of my list in the first tier we have a winger leading the way and a couple of centers going above and beyond, John Merrick, Dakota Lamb and The Cheese. When looking closer at the leaders it seems like these players have been outshining the other competition easily, using excellent accuracy while maintaining intensity with the extra man.

In the second tier of specialists we have the best defender Mikeal Keef and a couple of unknown wingers Declan Wolf and Jakob Sosa. They might not get the most minutes and don't shine like the rest of their team but whenever activated and thrown together with better players they seem to steal the spotlight, scoring more often and making sure it goes in using pin point accuracy.

In the third tier of the best power play goal scorers, defender Kristof Welch, center Asher Reinhart and winger Jeffrenomitsu The 3rd have been making the best of their minutes and found a way to contribute more than they already do in their respective positions. They don't come close to anybody in the tiers above them when striking but all three have been sweating it out and have shown a ton of determination whenever the coach calls them on the ice, using every second to find a holes left by the penalty killing unit.

In the fourth tier of the most efficient players on the PP there's a quad of wingers, Nathan Perry, MuffBeav, Frank Funk Jr, Kaladin Kvothe and defender Victor Grachev. The three players tied for the #10 rank don't have a tendency to shoot whenever holding the puck but they all have been accurate on every occasion in the early parts of the season. #11 and #12 also have been similar threats except they've been getting more assists and shots, at the end of the day all of these names add that extra layer of support their team needs to be a one of the top units in the VHL.

Thanks for tuning in! Hope this was interesting and possibly earned some players even more ice-time if the managers didn't know.. The plan is to do another one or two of these during the season.

Rayzor_7 reacted to Doomsday in Season 79 Off-Season Trade Reviews
While the VHL Entry Draft generally garners the biggest headlines and stories over the off-season, oftentimes teams make the transition to contending or rebuilding through trades during the off-season. While draft picks provide the excitement of a promising future, both for the team and the player, trades can do the same thing, and sometimes it's the beginning of a run to the Continental Cup. With Season 79 now in full swing, let's take a look back at some of the biggest trades that teams made during the past off-season, along with the ramifications each had for this season and beyond.

But if you haven't done so, check out these fantastic articles from @Alex_J32 previewing the VHLM season! There are a ton of quality prospects in the M this season, which promises a season of excitement and potential!

Under 250: S79 VHLM Season Preview | Under 250: The Resurgence of the Mississauga Hounds

     Helsinki Titans receive:

    S79 LDN 2nd (28th overall, Dekster Jankowski)
    S79 HSK 2nd (24th overall, Matty Live)
    S80 HSK 3rd
    S80 RIG 3rd
    S81 TOR 1st

     Toronto Legion receive:

    Aurelien Moreau
    Vick Fairchild

With Frank Funk @Rayzor_7 now at the helm in Helsinki, it's not much of a surprise to see the Titans entering a rebuild. They've been contenders for much of the 70's, but the timing is right for Funk to start building the next generation of hockey in Helsinki. It's tough to send out a promising, up-and-coming defenseman in Aurelien Moreau @Frank, but the Titans received an absolute treasure trove of picks that Funk can use to build up the pipeline over the next three drafts, or as bargaining chips for future trades. With his two second round picks acquired for the Season 79 VHL Entry Draft, the Titans selected defenseman Matty Live @Mattylive3k and forward Dekster Jankowski @xsjack, both playing in the VHLM this season. Live's development appears to have stalled, but Jankowski is showing the potential to reach the VHLE for it's inaugural season, and could prove to have a future in Helsinki. The trade also gave Helsinki two thirds next season, and Toronto's first round pick in Season 81, unquestionably the crown jewel for Funk with this swap.

The 70's have been rough to Rylan Peace @Peace and the Toronto Legion, but they're looking to close this decade with a bang by acquiring some veteran talent to compete now. It cost a ton of draft capital, but acquiring a defenseman like Aurelien Moreau that is just entering his prime and already shaping into one of the game's top young blueliners is big for this team's future. Vick Fairchild @GreenGato is a veteran in the prime of his career, already preparing for the dreaded regression. He fits well with the current direction of this Toronto club, perfectly suited for the top six minutes he's getting. The Legion are off to a quality start this season, and the boost that Moreau and Fairchild have provided are a big reason for that.

It's difficult to outright declare a winner of a trade when picks are still on the table for two more seasons, but both teams clearly got what they needed here. The picks Toronto got wouldn't have helped their current contention, while the two veterans moved by Helsinki are ultimately more valuable as trade pieces with the direction of the team. Nicely done by both teams in my opinion.

     Seattle Bears receive:

    S79 PRG 1st (13th overall, Orion D H Chester IX)
    S81 PRG 1st

     Prague Phantoms receive:

    Venus Thightrap
    S79 CGY 2nd (27th overall, Ben Aky)

With the retirement of Prague Phantoms lifer Thomas Landry II @Doomsday after Season 78, Jason Glasser @diamond_ace had a major hole to fill at center. Robert Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito has developed into a tremendous player for Prague, but the roster desperately needed another center. To solve that little problem, Glasser decided to bring in a familiar face: @BladeMaiden, a fixture of the Prague Phamily, and whose current player, Venus Thightrap, just happens to be a center. It's a match made in heaven, but the results haven't been there on the ice just yet. Thightrap is playing well, but Prague is struggling to maintain playoff positioning thus far. Missing the playoffs after giving up two first round picks could be a difficult pill to swallow, but fortunately for the Phantoms, it's still early in the season, and they have plenty of time to turn things around. However, the second round selection they acquired in the past draft did result in Ben Aky @benaky, a friend of Prague forward Nicholas Mariani @Mistxh J, joining the team, much to the delight of both of them. Aky is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

The Seattle Bears always seem to find a way to be relevant, and it's Blake Campbell's @Banackock ability to bring in first round picks year after year that keep the Bears in a seemingly permanent state of competition. Even after trading away a quality player in Venus Thightrap, Seattle is still making life difficult for their North American Conference rivals, and could sneak into the playoffs yet again this season. Campbell took advantage of the Season 79 Prague first round pick to use it as part of another trade to move up and land Sigard Petrenko @SlapshotDragon, who surely will factor in tremendously with Campbell's future plans.

It's hard to fault Prague for having to really up the ante to land a player like Venus Thightrap to remain in the window of contention, but if it doesn't materialize for the Phantoms on the ice, this is easily a move that could be looked upon as a major setback. Seattle, however, is churning along, business as usual, and seems to have the core of their next run coming together nicely. When will the VHL learn?

     Helsinki Titans receive:

    S80 DCD 2nd

     Riga Reign receive:

    Zamboni Driver

After the spectacular fallout between Riga Reign netminder Calvin Harvey @Mrpenguin30 and the VHL following a fiery political discussion, the Reign were left holding the bag when Harvey abruptly retired. With goaltender suddenly a major hole following Season 78, Benjamin Zeptenbergs @hedgehog337 needed to act, and fast. With the Helsinki Titans entering a rebuild and their franchise netminder, Zamboni Driver @Tape-to-Tape entering his final season, the perfect situation for a trade existed, and Zeptenbergs sent the D.C. Dragons' Season 80 second round pick to Helsinki to acquire the veteran goaltender. While it stands to be a lower second round pick, it's a small price to pay if the absolutely remarkable play of Driver continues. He has saved .935% of the shots he has faced, and allows just over two goals a game. Needless to say, this has Riga in the running for the top spot in the European Conference, as the Reign are absolutely getting their money's worth with Zamboni Driver.

For Frank Funk and the Helsinki Titans, it's hard to argue against the move. The Titans aren't competing this season, and this had to be the best offer they received. Even then, how much could you really expect to get for a goaltender entering their final season? Getting an extra pick to build with and giving your franchise netminder a real chance at winning a Cup before retirement is really all you can ask for. For what it's worth, Season 80's draft class is remarkably deep with goaltenders, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Helsinki come away from the draft with one of those top goalie prospects as well. No doubt both GMs were thrilled to get this deal done.

     HC Davos Dynamo receive:

    Patrik Laine
    S80 HSK 4th
    S81 HSK 4th

     Helsinki Titans receive:

    Declan Wolf
    Griff Mackenzie
    Raihan Heavems
    S80 CGY 1st
    S80 DAV 2nd
    S80 DAV 4th
    S81 DAV 2nd

To absolutely no one's surprise, we've got yet another entry on Frank Funk's Off-Season Pick Party. This time, it's Jerry Garcia @GustavMattias and the HC Davos Dynamo making the big buy, and it's a treasure trove of players and picks for Patrik Laine @Laine, giving Taro Tsujimoto another top talent to work with. The impact is undeniable, as Davos has clearly made the jump to a contender by inserting themselves into the race for the top seed in the European Conference. The real question for Garcia, however, is whether or not the massive price paid will result in ending Davos' long Continental Cup drought. Simply put, the price it took to acquire Laine will be a significant piece of Helsinki’s rebuild, and if Davos doesn’t get it done and end their drought with Laine, they’ll face a significant disadvantage when it comes time to rebuild again.

On the other hand, Helsinki’s risk is virtually non-existent. They’re not competing now, they won’t be by the time Laine retires in all likelihood, and the haul they received for him will certainly affect their chances in the future far more than their franchise stalwart would. They receive three players in Declan Wolf @MrShark, Griff Mackenzie @HoneyBadger25, and Raihan Heavems @RstortonYT that all made the leap up from the VHLM this season and are stating their cases to be a part of the Titans’ future plans. The real haul, however, is that group of draft picks, highlighted by Calgary’s first round pick in Season 80, one of three picks they acquired for next season’s draft. They also acquired Davos’ second and fourth round picks for Season 80, and another second round pick, also Davos’, in Season 81. Frankly, it’s been a terrific off-season for Frank Funk and the Helsinki Titans, as they shed players that wouldn’t fit into their future plans to make said future even brighter. It’s hard to imagine this off-season going any better for a first-year general manager, but Helsinki is off to an absolutely fantastic start with their new GM.

     Seattle Bears receive:

    Micah Adrienne
    S80 SEA 1st

     London receives:

    Hex Rose
    S79 MAL 3rd (42nd overall, Jacob Costello)
    S79 NYA 3rd (39th overall, Emi Spector)

It turns out that no, in fact, the VHL still has not learned its lesson. Blake Campbell makes another move to acquire a first round pick, recovering his own first round pick from London for next season’s draft. It does cost him Hex Rose @Hex Universe, along with two third round picks in Season 79’s draft, but Seattle reacquiring their first rounder in a season in which they may not make the playoffs is tremendous. Season 80 is shaping up to have a very deep draft class, and with two first round picks, they’re in phenomenal shape to capitalize on it and get another Cup contender built for the new decade. Micah Adrienne @Poptart didn’t stick around very long, being flipped to Helsinki for a fourth round pick later on in a cap-clearing move.

Roger McWolf III @McWolf grabs a player in Hex Rose that has been a secondary player of sorts with Seattle, but has developed into a quality player that is leading the charge for London so far. Unfortunately, it hasn’t fully panned out yet for the United on the ice. They’re currently right on the bubble of making the playoffs, and while they wouldn’t be losing out on a lotto pick, they did lose out on perhaps having two of them. London is a team that really needs an infusion of young talent, and while they did gain a player in Rose who could prove to be a veteran leader, will it ultimately be worth it if Seattle misses the playoffs and picks up a lottery pick? It’s hard for me to say that Campbell and the Bears didn’t come out on top in this trade, even if Emiko Spector @Emi and Jacob Costello @stello2005 wind up making something of themselves for London in the future.

It certainly proved to be a busy off-season, especially for Frank Funk and the Helsinki Titans, who have engineered a very promising future for themselves with a wealth of draft picks. Blake Campbell and the Seattle Bears also managed to acquire more first rounders, and other teams, such as the Riga Reign, made necessary rentals to make a run at the Cup more feasible. It’s a long season, but already we’ve seen these trades make an impact on the current season, for better or for worse. But in order to truly judge the impact these trades made, we’ll have to give it a couple seasons and see just how each team fares as a result of these transactions. Best of luck to your teams this season!

Rayzor_7 reacted to ROOKIE745 in the chaos before and during the draft.
I know the draft has been over for a while now but things have been a little hectic for me at home, but now that it's deadline day I need to get this done. This draft was way more crazy than my first where I was going in with a first time player and people had to gamble on whether I would stay active or not, and of course we know the answer to that now. Now that I'm an established earner and good person (I like to think so at least) my players will have a lot more value attached to them. I like many others had a number of teams in the first round approach me and in general I was open to all of them, told them draft me if you like me and the such, I wanted every GM to know that I would keep earning for them no matter what.

Enter 30 minutes before the draft when Eno tells me he's looking to get a first round draft pick right around where my player should go. Eno is basically the reason I'm here and I really want to play for the dragons at some point in one of my players careers. Suddenly it turns into a "don't draft me" situation, Eno took care of most of the work, I had to tell Seattle not to take me, and then Peace DM's me and tells me he can get a first round pick and get me, of course at this point I'm trusting Eno will get that first round pick so I tell him no as well. I'm sure you know where this is going, Eno doesn't get the pick and who drafts me? The Titans, GM'd and AGM'd by Rayzor and Hatter. I have no shame in saying that I believe they are the best GM and AGM pairing in the league. What's also crazy is now in four drafts, I have been drafted by Rayzor three times, by Minny twice and Titans once. I knew Rayzor wouldn't pass on me and it's all thanks to Eno that I slid far enough down for him to get me. Eno was actually trying to trade for Rayzor's draft pick but he wasn't having any of it. It's also because of him that my rival slapshotdragon got drafted ahead of me, darn you Eno. I will also note that right when I was drafted the power went off in my house lol. Fun times.

Rayzor_7 reacted to Beketov in Happy 14th Birthday VHL!
    Hey VHL @Members!

Anyone who has been around the VHL for awhile will surely know, or at least be vaguely aware, that July 18th, specifically July 18th, 2007, is the VHL's birthday! That means today marks the day that our community turns an incredible 14 years old. As an old fart that has been around since that day I can say that is stuns me every year when this post goes up that we're still going when you consider that leagues back in 2007 rarely made it to 3 years, let alone 14. As always though, we aren't just putting some gifs up and calling it a day, we aren't stupid. We know you clicked on this for the TPE and intend on delivering.

To commemorate the league's 14th birthday, we are giving all members a Triples Week, which adds 12 Uncapped TPE to any 6-TPE Point Task (Welfare/Pension/Affiliate PT are not included but as usual if your pay covers your PT that counts), as well as 2 Uncapped TPE. To claim these perks, which naturally add up to 14 Uncapped TPE, all you need to do is post in this thread and then link to that post in your update; that's it. We aren't even making you come up with a memory or anything this year, just a post.

Not only are we giving TPE away this year but we're also giving away some bonus items as well because really, what's a birthday without presents? Anyone who comments on this thread, thus getting the bonus mentioned above, will be entered into a draw that contains three copies of NHL 21 (for your console of choice) and an NHL Jersey of your choice. We'll have a live draw for these prizes sometime after the post closes in a week so stay tuned for that.

So, to summarize quickly, that's a max of 14 uncapped TPE just for commenting and 4 winners will receive some gifts curtesy of the VHL. All you have to do is post in here and you're good to go.

    Notes:
    • This thread will remain open until 11:59PM PST on Sunday, July 25th.
    • Birthday perks may only be claimed on one player per member.
    • Birthday perks must be claimed before the S79 Trade Deadline.
    • If you win a copy of NHL 21 and own it already you may swap it for a game of equal or lesser value.
    • No prizes can be exchanged for cash value or any form of digital currency (yes, that includes TPE).

With that, a void must be filled. I'll be looking for an AGM who would like to learn the ropes. Ideally your responsibilities will be:
-> Active in Discord LR/Forum LR
-> Pitch to waiver eligible players
-> Do weekly press conferences (preferably on Monday so the team has all week to do them)
