The Scott Boulet Trophy is awarded to the two-way forward in the VHL each season. Of late, 2 players have won the Boulet 3 consecutive times with Mikko Lahtinen @Beketov (S74-S76) and Groovy Dood @bigAL (S77-S79). This raises the question of “will we see this again” as Duncan Idaho @OrbitingDeath has won the last trophy for the last two seasons and had another good season this time around with 125 points, 377 hits, and 33 shots blocked. Other players who had incredible two-way seasons are Taylor Mourning @scoop with 129 points, 349 hits, and 40 shots blocked, and Alex Johnston @Alex who had 107 points, 314 hits, and 41 shots blocked. Will Idaho continue the trend and capture their 3rd straight, or will a new player break the current trend? Let’s find out, the winner of the Scott Boulet Trophy is…

The Alexander Valiq Trophy is awarded to the VHL’s top offensive defenseman, this season we had a race that was more one sided than previous seasons as Battre Sandstrom @Acydburn took off to finish the season with 124 points, 25 of which were goals. 12 points behind Sandtrom sat Hard Markinson @STZ with 112 points and also 25 goals this past season for Moscow. Finishing the season 3rd in defensemen scoring this season was Kristof Welch @Juice with 24 goals and 84 assists for 108 points. Each of these players had a spectacular offensive season, but the Valiq Trophy can only go to one of them. The winner of the season 82 Alexander Valiq Trophy is…

The Jake Wylde Trophy, on the other hand, is an award recognizing the best defensive defenseman in the league, a role that is often overlooked and thankless. However we do have 4 finalists, first up we have Chicken Wing @chikn who was a +33, had 146 hits, and 242 shots blocked. Hard Markinson @STZ also had a remarkable defensive season as they were a +24, had 257 hits and 182 shots blocked. Additionally Tom Eagles @Greg_Di carried the brunt of the defensive load for Calgary last season and did a great job at that finishing the season with a +52, 217 hits, and 228 shots blocked. Lastly, Zdeno Chara @Jubis hit just about everything that came across the blue line last season as they finished with 270 hits in addition to 149 shots blocked and being a +25. Without further ado, our top defensive defensemen of season 81 is…

The Aiden Shaw Trophy is presented to the VHLs top goaltender each season. This past season continued to not be kind to goalies in any way at all as goalscoring was through the roof. Among goalies 3 stood out above the rest this past season, they are; Thadius Sales @thadthrasher, who has been a standout goaltender in this high-scoring era and would go onto lead starting goalies in wins (49), GAA (2.89) and SV% with a 0.926 SV%. 17 wins behind them was Sirkants Klamasteris @hedgehog337 who was one of the main reasons for Calgary’s success last season, Klamasteris also had a 0.923 SV% and a 3.18 GAA. Our final nominee for the Shaw is Warsaw goaltender Tater Tot @Trunkxolotl who had 32 wins, a 3.49 GAA, and a 0.922 SV%.

The season 82 Aiden Shaw Trophy winner is…

The lone playoff-related playoff award, the Daisuke Kanou Trophy recognises the playoff MVP. Compared to last season, scoring was down in the playoffs as all scoring records remained intact. Part of that could be the incredible play of Thadius Sales @thadthrasher who had an outstanding 0.929 SV%, and 3.14 GAA on route to picking up the 12 wins needed to win the Continental Cup. Jerome Reinhart @MexicanCow123 also had a great playoffs with 7 goals and 22 assists for 29 points in 14 games played. Tyler Reinhart @Zetterberg also played well and discovered their scoring touch as they had 10 goals in 14 games. The top two skaters of the postseason found themselves on the losing side of the finals; Duncan Idaho @OrbitingDeath with 13 goals and 41 points in 23 games played and The Seabasstard @Seabass with 17 goals and 33 points. The winner of the Season 82 Daisuke Kanou Trophy is…

Congrats @OrbitingDeath . Gotta say, I really wanted this one. For a while in the season, it was basically a runaway until down the stretch I got hot. I'd say I probably overtook you for a bit, until the last couple of sims when you really crushed it.

So I'll take the next three, yeah?
